Ok seems from previous threads answers are a bit thin on the ground....
WE've got he Sky+ app to program n record via our phones but...
Since we've got the media capability - can we not use the Sky Player?
I notice on my pc i require Silverlight to be installed - what if i can this through a browser? or can this be ported into a specific app to log into this kind of thing?
It'd be amazing if i could get my Sky tv on my phone - not just see whats on.
Not supported by Sky, but you could always ask if its on their radar.
virgin Media are starting to support something along these lines so it is possible

Hello, first post here. Pretty new to the whole smartphone thing. Trying to get the allshare, specifically the screen share to work with my tv. I have an ethernet cord plugged into a samsung tv with allshare with the other end going into a wireless router. The phone and tv find each other and I can stream a movie without a problem. When I go down to the screen share option in the settings it says no device detected. I spoke with samsung a couple of times about it and they said the only way for that to work is with one of their wireless dongles. I find that hard to believe that I can stream movies but not share the screen but I'm also new at this so I was wondering if you had any insight. Thanks in advance
DLNA isn't made for screen sharing. It's just not...I've been using DLNA for a good while before I got a smartphone with that capability. It's really apples and oranges.
i don't understand why in the tv manual it would say that you could though. Just that my phone needs to have screen share on it. was hoping to browse the internet on my tv or play some emulators on it. has anyone else been able to do that with this phone?
ndavis, it seems you are thinking of the phone's tv out feature via 3.5 mm jack. You can't run emulators over DLNA.
i've been trying to figure out how to play videos on the phone (from my pc). the phone sees the videos, but when i try to stream them, it says "unsupported file format". I know that the file is supported because if i physically download it to my phone, it plays fine. Any ideas?
Hi,
Thinking to develop am android app to display a video or part of the video on mutli-android phone device. It will support sync video and play it at the same time.
Anyone can give me some advice or idea how i can do it?
Thanks.
Im not really sure what you are trying to do. You want to display "part of a video"? Are you trying to output video from the device to a screen? Or from another device to the phone?
Anyway, I suggest you get the Android SDK from google. They basically tell you how to write apps. There are also books or classes you can take too.
So your wanting to make an app that allows you to share and play(synced) video over multiple phones?
Yes as above said you will first need to get the Android SDK, but to write this program you will need to be very skilled programmer with alot of times on your hands...
You will first need to know alot about networking, allowing you to connect to other phones and i assume create a buffer system then have all phones play at time that the buffers are reached to maintain steady flow based of network stats.
If you want to do streaming you will need to know even more, not to mention you will need to probably write your own video playing software.
OR you could simply write a program that links the x # of phones together and then streams from phone a to phones x-n through a 3rd party stream capable video player.

Need this APPS !!!
Blinkendroid has been found but I'd like to watch a movie on my Android device and broadcast / stream it on other Android device synchronised.
ie :
=> I own 2 tablets 7"
=> I want to watch to a movie / TV Show with subtitles
=> My girlfriend want to watch to the same program... but without subtitles
Is there anything yet for this requirement ?

Hello
First post here, and my first android phone incoming.
I have always been heavily been invested in apple products, but im getting tired of them.
So now i finally made the jump, sold my ip4 and orderd a galaxy s2.
But my ht setup is kinda the way i like it now, so im gonna to ask some questions.
I have a bunch of mkvs on my pc, i do have a TV with allshare/dlna. But im wondering if its possible to use like metadata agent with scrapes all the moveis i have on my PC/network. So i can view the movie info etc on my android phone, then send the movie from my pc to my tv trough the phone, if you know what i mean.
Its kinda hard to explain, but its quite important to me.
I use plex now on my ipad 2, it scrapes from my pc and sends it from the ipad to the tv using airplay.
I guess mvideoplayer cant access movies/files on the network, i see that its metadata support, i like covers, info etc.
Sorry for all the rambling, but to summarize (since i know nothing about android).
Is there a way to stream content (which is on the pc/network) through my phone to my allshare/dlna TV, trough an app that shows metadata.
First, of all, welcome to Android.
You will not regret the move from iOS to Android.
I think this is what you are asking about. The following is from the Galaxy 2 website:
"AllShare
Show off? Why not when it’s this easy. AllShare lets the Samsung GALAXY S II link wirelessly with a TV, laptop or even audio system to play multimedia files directly from the phone. AllShare synchronizes the phone with a compatible DLNA based product. So start the streaming to the big screen in HD. That’s media convergence made simple!"

If it's plex from plexapp.com you are using on your ipad it's available for android in the market for $4.99
I love the MIUI but I have been skeptical about trying it because I'm too attached to Samsung's specially designed apps such as the Allshare (DLNA), Email (split view), Samsung keyboard, Memo, Kies Air, photo editor and Video Maker and Voice Talk (home button double click).
From what I read, these are built on a different framework than the MIUI (CM7) which will not work. Very sad face.
So the real question is, is there a way to port any of the mentioned apps over to MIUI?
A alternative for Allshare that I would recommend is Skifta. I even use it on my phone which is a stock based rom since it is better in the area of the phone as the player since Allshare is hard coded to use the stock video player and will not let you select a different installed player which means lower format support and you can't stream mkv's to the phone from a server even though the phone could play the same file if it is on the sdcard.
For phone to other device it has the same capabilities.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Thanks shadowofdarkness, unfortunately it doesn't seem to work properly. When I click on Music it just sits there for a while, and non of the movies play. I'm thinking maybe I need another player?
I noticed it's beta, so it might be in the process of being fixed.

What is your setup, is the phone the server or player? On my phone I prefer MX video player in SW mode for best compatibility.
I have the following devices and have not had any real problems
Phone server/client
XBMC server/client
MythTV server only
The clients especially TVs can have low format support since a lot of manufacturers only put in the most heavily used formats and can even have problems with variations of certain codec profiles.
All my media is stored on a windows 7 pc that has media stream server enabled. So whatever I have in My Music, My Video and My Pictures is easily viewed in Allstream. Skifta looks great btw, just hope they fix the issues soon.

Id say that if you like those special services that samsung provides don't install MIUI. Currently it is on v4 for the GS3, nevertheless the beta is on its way and is being tested as we speak. The GUI is really nice, but you DO loose some special services.

o,thanks! your answer also helped me to solve this big problem, especailly when i just trying the MIUI V5 in my galaxy S3
Hi everybody
I have a Android based tablet(junpad, like flypad) that i have as a spotify player.
Now i woundering if ther is any apps that make it possible for me to use my galaxy s or laptop as a remotecontrol to change track etc, etc. have looked at Remote Web Desktop but i cant control spotify through that. And DroidMote Server does not work on the tablet for some reason.
So, is there any aps out there that fits me?
I can connect a wireless usb mouse to the tablet, but how cool is that? Would be nice with a app or something
No one knows anyting that can work?
I'm gonna drudge this up instead of starting a new thread. Same question. I would like to control Spotify from my Galaxy Tab 10.1 with my Galaxy S III...
... also same questiion....
Did you get any further with this?
It would be great if Spotify could enable an option to play music on any other device (with the same user registered).
My best solution so far is with Spot Commander; an android application which controls a spotify server on a Linux netbook.
But I'd prefer to use an obsolete Android phone - since it would use much less power - also in stand-by. Another idea - perhaps the spot commander server application (which is Open Source) could be ported to the Raspberry Pi.
Media Remote
Media Remote by appshroom works but is pretty limited.
Hey folks,
Sorry to kick up an old thread, but I was Googling around to find the answer to the question posed above and I thought maybe answering this thread would help the next guy. It seems that if you want to control Spotify on Android from another Android, you can do so using DroidRemote. The downside to doing it this way is that it uses bluetooth.
I'd really prefer a way to do it via WiFi as its' range is higher and I don't have to turn on the bluetooth radio just for this purpose, which in turn consumes my precious mAh's. It'd also be dandy if I could use my Windows box to control Spotify on Android.
This Galaxy Tab 2 will do nicely as a Spotify player but controlling it remotely would be even more boss.
Hello,
Is there any new solution to remote control Spotify on tablet from a phone ? Is there no tweak available or mod ? Even if you root your phone / tab ?
Regards.

I second this question.
I have a small Minix as my spotify player connected to my TV and surround system. I have been searching forever for a solution that will allow me to control the Minix spotify session from my Nexus7 Tablet.
Any suggestions? Please!!!!!
