So I'm a bit of a typography nerd, and lately I've been hooked on the stunning "Comfortaa" font by aajohan (all credit to him for the original font!) and have replaced the system fonts on my phone with Comfortaa, and decided I wanted to replace the samsung lockscreen clock text font too.
Of course, samsung couldn't be like google and just use the Clockopia.ttf font in /system/fonts for their lockscreen, instead they made each number a .png image, in two separate sizes.
So today I finally made my own images using comfortaa, and I'm quite happy with how it turned out, and maybe somebody else will want to use this too.
Anyway, I don't use metamorph, and this is my first time making a metamorph theme, but it seems simple enough, hopefully it works (I don't honestly know, I just modified my framework-res.apk directly.)
And like always...
make a nandroid backup first, and I am absolutely not responsible for anything that happens to your phone because of applying this mod.
cheers, =)
Very nice . Now I'm gonna need to change my font to match. Good work +1 wanna hook up the link to your battery mod?

Didn't work for me but then again I don't really use metamorph all that often. I really like the comforta font though so great idea

Hi,
I made a handful of versions of my battery mod, mostly with the stock international i9000 "matte" version of touchwiz, you can find the thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=758797
I personally don't mind the black & blue color scheme of touchwiz, I just hate the custom "glossy/glass" version that samsung did for only the vibrant.
Cheers, =)

Hi,
Yeah, I don't personally use metamorph, I just know that so many people have so many different themes they prefer to use, so it seemed easier to try and throw a morph together instead of uploading complete pre-compiled versions of framework-res.apk. Its even worse now with so many variations, I'd need one for Eugene's roms, one for Bionix, one for stock JFD and another for stock JI6, then versions for both the stock JFD and JI6 lockscreen mod variations too, lol.
So, anyway, if the morph doesn't work, can someone try to point me in the right direction why?
And of course, you can always do the mod manually too:
download the zip and just extract the 22 png images
adb pull /system/framework/framework-res.apk
open framework-res.apk it with 7-zip, and drag-and-drop my comfortaa images into /res/drawable-hdpi.
adb push ~path_to_modded_file /system/framework/framework-res.apk
then reboot into clockwork recovery, and wipe cache & dalvik-cache
reboot one last time
Cheers, =)
an you tell me what battery you have I like that icon.

Yeah, this Morph doesn't work. Just tried it. Said something about a theme control file missing. Hope this helps you, the purple lock screen looks awsome!
s0niqu3:.
Not having made a morph myself, I am basing this off of just comparing your XMP file to a morph I have applied many times (EVO BlackBar)...
It appears there is nothing wrong.
Not sure why it sin't working. Currently doing a nandroid. Going to try it out as this is a great idea! Surprised it hasn't been done yet. Could go hand-in-hand with the FlipFont.apk thread.
I Noticed that many developers are including the new Rotary Lockscreen in the recent roms that have been released, and thought I would create a thread entirely devoted to Custom Lockscreen Mods for our device. I don't claim to be a developer or themer, but however noted that we have some of the best themers and developers in the Vibrant thread so thought I would start a thread for those who would like to share some themed Lockscreen Mods. I have extracted several settings apk's from several roms and noted that they do work or are compatible with different roms. This thread in no way seeks to minimize the hard work of those developers who have included Rotary Lockscreens in their roms, but only seeks to stir up the creative juices of others who may want to share some of their work. Thanks!! Credit goes to Whitehawx & Hoey2011 for making this possible on our devices. Heres hoping that they will continue to bring their creativity to this thread along with other themers and their themed lockscreen mods.
Thanks to Whitehawx for getting this working on our device and shout out to Hoey2011 for these Lockscreen themes and Brick'd, RobZarzecki and others who supported this. More to Come in different colors and flavors! Stay Tuned!!
Hot Screenies
1st waves of morphs compliments of Hoey 2011. Flash with Metamorph and should be all good. NOTE: The star wars mod may not work after you apply this but the other 5 lockscreens work without a hitch. This is the 1st wave of morphs and all glitches that are found will be worked out accordingly. Whatever theme you are using should not be affected as shown in screenies using Danny Doans Theme with Hoey2011 themed Lockscreen with Rotary. Enjoy and Be on the lookout for more soon!

Yo RobZ im going to post a couple of framework apks and possibly a couple of those setting apks that we discovered works on particular roms just to get it started a little im still contacting a few people to just make sure its ok. Thanks to brickd he okd to post his saturated grey rotary framework and going to check with others also. Its nice to be able to change out lockscreens according to personal pref if compatible. Imagine if someone could develop a lockscreen changer this would be the business!
Hello everyone! Hmmm where to begin. I have done a little poking around regarding adding additional shortcuts to the rotary. I for one would like to have it show missed calls/texts on the center piece and you swing one way or the other to shortcut to it.
Something another dev in the fascinate forums PM'd me about was using the rotary to answer/decline calls. That would be freakin awesome. I'm going to be investigating this as I think it might actually be easier to do than what I said above.
Jcc, I like your idea for an app that can change out colors/themes/ect on the lockscreens. I'm going to do some talking with Roman later to see if we can't work something out for this (he's the java/app expert ).
I do have some other lockscreens I'd like to port over, including the multilock from CM and the iFail...err... i mean iPhone slider lockscreen. No promises on anything though. Anywho, its time to vape!
Whitehawx, I am using Axura 2.3 and when I flashed it the rotary lockscreen didn't appear in my list. I flashed it again and themed it with Gen x red and it still didn't show up. I wanted the rotary look so bad that I found the one attached in the market. Its called GOTO LOCK. If you look at it, I can roll the arrow to the right and hover over sms (my handcent) and it will preview my messages and the same for phone calls and my gmail. It also shows the number of each if any are waiting. Allows me to customize background as well. On the box up top it allows me to silence ringer, vibrate or turn ringer on and a few more gadgets as well. I think if you could incorporate something like this into rotary it would take it to the next level!
BTW...any idea why the rotary lockscreen didn't show up with the rom?
Thanks.

Hmmm I am unsure why the mod would not work, but doesn't Axura 2.3 come with the rotary lockscreen already? Flashing my mod should work, but you would lose all of your theming, ect. Seems odd that it wouldn't work though.

I dont know. Strange. Right after I flashed and went to into settings, display and unlock screen, it only shows the 4 options. Rotary is not even there. I didnt want to lose the theming from my Gen x red theme so that's why I downloaded the one from the market.

Funny.....Lol. It's actually in the market. It's called GOTO LOCK. It's a buck 50 but well worth it. I only found it because the rotary that whawx created for the roms wouldn't show up when I flashed axura 2.3 and I really wanted a rotary unlockscreen.

Hey guys, I made a little mod of the rotary lockscreen for bionix V 1.2.1, based on the GingerBlue theme. Therefore, when you flash this zip, you will have a blue themed phone, only for what framework-res touches. There are no changes to tw-framework, so that apk is not included.
This is a clockwork flashable, and it clears your dalvik cache, so it takes ~3-4 minutes to reboot after flashing it. I was a bit worried because of how long I was having to wait after flashing, but then I realized I have 200+ apps, and that makes rebuilding the dalvik-cache a little time consuming. Screenshots included, here's the link to the mod:
http://www.4shared.com/file/ryMYzZYU/HoeyBWRotary.html
If there's enough interest in this sort of thing, I'll take whatever lockscreen ports there are to handle, and make them customizable for our Vibrants I'm a themer, not a coder heh heh
Edit: I suggest trying this with a black and blue theme, because that's what I designed this little inspiration after. the jog icons are black and transparent, not black and blue like the screenshots suggest, it's just the blue smoke from the wallpaper.
I added a space wallpaper to demo a little better the way it looks
EDIT #19390487: I will consider making these theme a Metamorph simply for the possibility of avoiding replacing the entire framework-res.apk . Metamorph may make it possible to avoid the time-consuming flash/dalvik-cache wipe process I am using now for the theme. Then again, everything has room for improvement, including this mod! Keep in mind, this is a *rough* draft of an idea, and the idea was made specifically for me. If you don't like it, then throw up some suggestions. I will give folks a run down in a separate thread from this, so you can have an idea of what I can change and the effects it will have. That way, this thread can stay open to new *actual* modifications, rather than just aesthetic ones. So basically, I am going to take what progress comes from here, and theme it to gooey goodness. I have a simplistic stylistic preference, but you all may not!
Where exactly are lockscreen-containing files located within the ROM?

Hoey dang that lockscreen is sweet!!thanks for joining the discussion. I'm going test this baby out. It looks Great. Please feel free to Share some of your Lockscreen mods. That's why I started the thread because I believe themers such as yourself as well as others could post the hotness!
@ Oxirane It's either the Framework_res.apk or The Setting.apk and using root explorer you can copy it in systems/framework directory and if you use the setting.apk you can copy it in Systems/Apps folder. It's funny though because I've discovered that on some roms the framework_res.apk file changes the lockscreen, and on others all you have to do is push Settings apk to Systems/Apps. Maybe someone could expound on it for us. Make sure before you push any file with rootexplorer on your phone. SAVE your original files so that if something goes haywire you can just recopy those files as it will give you back your original look before the push. You could also just flash a rom with it already on it also. Hope this makes sense! Chime back if it works for you.
Update: Unable to download from dropbox its giving a error message. Could you post the Mod here in the thread. Thanks.
Hey guys,
I was wondering is there a way to tell which morphs and themes, on the older trigger will work on trigger 2.9.+. Also could someone who is skilled in morphing, and themes, take a look at all the requests they are throwing at birgertime? This rom is solid and a performer. It's that some ppl want to tweek the looks for their own wicked taste. I sadly am not skilled enough to get the job done
Thank you for any help
given that trigger is still kb1 based the frameworks will also be based off the kb1 frameworks.
that said anything that worked on 2.8.x SHOULD work on 2.9.x+. i cant be 100% certain as i am not using trigger. but worst case scenario you get a bootloop in which case just push the framework-res.apk from 2.9.x to /system/framework using adb in CWM recovery
All of the metamorphs in trigger_addons work.
My thread (signature) has a lot of the themes that work.
Problems only arise when trying to use themes that include other (non -res files) framework essentials like android policy or services, because the ones on Trigger are unique do to all the modifications.
Furthermore, the framework-res on Trigger has a couple of resources for the extra lock screen that might not be there from other themes. I'm not sure what the result would be if you picked the starwars lock screen would be if you chose a theme that didn't have the framework for it (which most probably wouldn't)
If that made any sense
But yeah, people throwing all these requests at me for personal preferences is getting to be too much

The only personal preference you need to worry about is yours... it's worked pretty well so far. People will learn how to customize on their own.
Maybe post links in your OP to helpful links?

I'm on the quarx 2.16 nightly and was wondering if there's a theme out there that just makes the standard system theme have a transparent status bar (and maybe notification pull down too?)
I tried Orion theme, but don't like the miui style notification area. Is there a way to only use the status bar, but noneof the other mods (like icons, skinned dialer, etc.)?
I kinda like the simple system theme.
Thanks

GoLauncherEx have that option, and it's a very nice launcher.
I don't know if there is a theme that does that, :/
Quarx added that feature to his nightlies, and the Orion theme and others w/ transparent status bars work. I'm just wondering if there's a theme out there that has the transparency, but not too many other drastic changes to the look and feel.

It might look long and complicated but itsn't so; it only takes 3-4 minutes to do after you've done it once...
On the first post there I even gave a transparent theme that I've moded.
Read all: pretty much every themes for cm7 can be made transparent but not every launchers support them and they might also require additional quick settings.

Thanks,
I had read that post, but i didn't make it allthe way to the bottom, where i guess the answer i'm looking for is located. sorry. I guess I stopped reading, becasue i tought it would only work on the nightly you mentioned in the post. I was glad Quarx included the ability to have a transparent status bar, so i wasn't sure if changing all those files would be necessary.
I guess I'll get to work, figuring out which combo makes a good semi-transparent status bar. I wish there was a setting to control that (and notification area also?)
Yet another project making me step deeper into the world of Android. To think that when i got my defy (my first and only smartphone) i had no intention of rooting or anything. I guess that's what happens when the phone doesn't work well to begin w/
You can have a look here to get an idea on what to expect.
You know that an apk is basically a zip file right? So you could also get the 4 files with modified opacity (transparency) from my theme there and replace them in the SystemUI.apk of the nightly build you are using.
The only 'tricky' part in all this is to replace that SystemUI.apk on the system once those files are changed [and that you've used baksmali/smali to edit that 1 line in the statusbar.service file]. But really not a big deal with Terminal if you follow my instructions.
Lastly, I'd also suggest you to try Maniac103's latest nightly (Feb20th) because he fixed quite a few things lately and [to save you some work] I've already gave a CWM zip patch with transparency for it here - but read on there, I included 1 or 2 additional things in it like a different font... If just you just want transparency; you can pull the SystemUI.apk from the patch and use Terminal again to replace it on your phone.
EDIT: sorry! I just remembered that the patch doesn't contain those 4 modded png; only the one line change. So my theme would have transparency but not CM7 themes or others [without changing png anyway].
Anyhow: such a long answer...but if all that helped you in anyway -which I hope-, you can click that "Thanks" button
Cheers.
So is anyone theming the 8.4? I tried installing the S6 Theme Engine and it didn't work. Really cannot stand the bright colors of TouchWiz. Was wondering if anyone knew of a Dark theme for it. I've used all the Roms. IronRom and Liquid are the only ones that aren't corrupted for some reason. I wish I didn't have to leave LiquidSmooth because its soo flawless, Except for the big flaw of A2DP Bluetooth not functioning. I'm currently on IronRom which is why I am asking since TW looks like pure .... well I can't say it on the forum and I tried to use Wannan and Xposed to change colors but it isn't working. I can move the clock over and what not, But as for the colors of the Drop down at least.... They wont change. I'm backing it up right now to go back to LiquidSmooth to try a different Kernel. But my issue is the Bluetooth, It must be working Flawless with music. And lots of people across the Android Platform are having issues with Lollipop and Bluetooth.
I would love a full Blackout Theme for Google Apps, The Drop Down and settings to make TW look like AOSP. And then I can use Apex to skin the launcher the best way I need it.

I'm not sure if you have rooted your device (although it seems like you have). Also I'm not sure how technically apt you are but you can theme the Touchwiz settings and some of the system UI yourself by following these instructions:
(Guide) How To Theme Touchwiz 5.0 [SystemUI] [SecSettings.apk] DIY
Also the advise of using the Lollipop apps from Team Blackedout is correct. I use the Youtube Blackedout version and turn off Google Play updating for that specific app in the Playstore settings. I have not had as much luck getting the other Lollipop Google apps installed such as Gmail. I need to spend more time figuring out that issue.
As the Team Blackedout web site no longer has links to the apks you need to use their app for the downloads (scroll down that link for the app). I just use that app to select and download but not to flash for my own specific reasons but that is up to you. No matter what take a backup and follow their instructions for each app to the letter. Clearing out the Google supplied app can be tricky as in some cases the apk name is not clear such as "base.apk" instead of "gmail.apk" while the directory name is a better indicator.
Even though I have a Tab S 10.5 the instructions are not 10.5 specific. I'm still experimenting and chipping away at the status bar colors. I have also done things a bit different than in the post I linked to above. I wanted to make it easier to quickly apply themes when the OS is upgraded or I grow tired of some colors. Now matter what the post will get you the dark Touchwiz settings you desire.
I attached a few pictures to prove some theming success.
Oh wow. I'll read through it. I'm really interested now. Thanks.
and yes I am rooted. I've been through all the roms and the only ones that seem to work on my device is IronRom which is TW and LiquidSmooth which is AOSP. And my main function for my tablet is bluetooth audio, LS has a massive issue with it. IR does not.
***EDIT*** Ok, Attempting to follow those guides but I'm lost. SystemUI doesn't decompile at all, and Settings goes about half way. I tried just by turning the APK into a Zip and extracting the files and things aren't adding up. I can see images, like the icons in the systemui drop down... but can't figure out the colors, like the Blue background of the dropdown... I can prob live with everything the same color except changing the background to black. Settings, I believe would just need to change the background of the blue and white both to black, and then change the color of the text to white. And that one is a lil more descriptive. But I decided to try SystemUI first and it is not going, at all.
Maybe its the way I'm copying the APK's over? I'm using ESFileExplorer to make backups. I try to locate the APK's directly to copy them but I cannot find them.

A couple of comments. Please reread all the posts by the original author. You must have a working decompile/rebuild environment (apktool). If you are a MS-Windows user there is a link to Advanced Apk tool which provides everything you need in one package. I'm a Linux users so had to cobble together a few tools to get a equivalent tool set. If you could not decompile I suspect you have not installed the framework-res for apktool to use. I did this my first time as I did not read the apktool web site instructions as I should have.
So far I've had no problem recompiling/rebuilding SystemUI.apk and SecSettings.apk. I have had no luck modifying framework-res.apk which unfortunitely holds the notifications text colors and why I only have grayed backgrounds on notifications. Note that when framework-res.apk does not work your device's UI is borked and you need to rebuild your system or do a nandroid restore. So make sure you take a nandroid or Flashfire system backup and tread carefully.
When you have used apktool to rebuild your apk you must flash the new apks. A flash file template is provided in the first few posts of that thread. Use either Flashfire or a custom recovery or some other flashing tool to install the new apk(s). Using that template I created a theme recovery flash file containing the original SystemUI, SecSecurity and framework-res apks. It has come in hand a time or two. Do not replace an existing apk with a root enabled File Browser you are more likely to break your system than anything else. Your modifying essential system components not an app and those components are being used while your changing them, not good.
I would suggest further discussions be continued in the thread I mentioned. You would get more experienced and wider range of people responding to your theming questions. Reading that whole thread would also include seeing mistakes and solutions others have posted.

So is anyone theming the 8.4? I tried installing the S6 Theme Engine and it didn't work. Really cannot stand the bright colors of TouchWiz. Was wondering if anyone knew of a Dark theme for it. Something that takes care of stuff like the Settings Page, Notification Drop down and others. I'm using Apex Launcher but the TouchWiz background stuff is still there. Even like Dark Google Play, Gmail. Chrome Etc.

Hello, I was curious if you had found anything yet? Also, do you have a SM-T700? I hate the bright stuff on this device.
A few how to's on how to skin touchwiz. Or go to a aosp rom. I skinned some of my rom but gave up going all the way through it.

I hear that. I appreciate the response. Thanks.
