Does anybody noticed a strange thing? Some apps seems to create new activity instead of get focus when you switching between them with MultiTasking. Reproducable with dropbox and explorer/root explorer — you need to press "back" several times after switching to exit.

Is android as bad as apple? Iv come from a N900 and it was simple. You pressed a button and the app was sent to the background (still running) and then you press a different button to see all the apps running in little windows..
I dont even know how to close a app for good or keep it running in background and how to see whats open and whats not without a app killer app?
Am I missing something?
As bad as apple? Nope...but i am also waitin' for this "button". =)

there's no taskswitcher built in, there's obviously lots out there, but that doesnt mean it has no multi-tasking as you can press the switch apps by going to home screen and trigger the app again which has been running in the back ground.

How do I do this dont get what I press? It seems to have a mind of its own and I never know how to close the app for good or keep it running..
sorry new to android..
to close most well behaving apps you use the back button, holding down back button will close whatever app you are using with just one press.
some apps will stay resident (but not active) in the background if you press the home key once which should drop you back to the homepage.
on the streak if you hold the home key down then you get the switcher screen and across the bottom there's a list of recently used apps, so you can switch between apps that way..
I'm also new to android and learning quickly
tbh I've tried a few taskswitchers etc and have jkAppswitch at the mo because it works well, but that method above works ok as well.
I wish Dell had given us a basic drop down taskswitcher..

[Q] Changing buttons?

Hello everybody
I was wondering if there is a way to change the back button on the phone to exit the app or game you are in, instead of just minimizing it?
Cause everytime you have used an app or played a game, it is just being put in the background when you press the "home" or "back" button on the phone and using up power and memory.
I hope you understand what i mean
Search for 'quick exit' in market. Not exactly what you wanted but it makes the job

try downloading advanced task killer from the market its free and will do the job

Is there an app to navigate between apps recently opened

Hi, so a long press on 'home' brings the last 6 apps used. It's so basic it's sad. Is there a way to replace this with a better task switcher? Yes I know how Android manages RAM. I do not want a task killer, but a task switcher that replaces the existing one.
Does that exist? Thank you!
Tried searching the Market?
Task Manager ?
Ok obviously this is frustrating, I think my question has merit and I get the rolling eyes smileys.
Yes I have searched the market. From the ones I tried (must have tried 5 or 6 of them) *not one* of these apps replaces the 'hold home for 2 seconds' behaviour. Not one.
Further more, a lot of them *do not work* on the SGS2. Perfect task switcher fails to render the screenshots for example, other freeze, other are plain broken - displaying all running processes including 'android system'.
What I'm looking for is something that replaces the 2 sec long press and display the most recent used apps.
Maybe try quickdesk.

LauncherPro has such a feature. You can set one of the dock buttons to "recent apps" and it'll fill your entire screen with your recent apps, not just 6.

[Q] Apps Still Run After Exit Using Back Button CM 7.1

I'm still running the supposed to be stable version CM 7.1 for SGSII and so far, everything is great except for the problem that when I exit an application using back button, the application still remains running in the background (including settings, theme chooser and about everything else I didn't exited using the in-app exit option). I'm using ES Task Manager to verify and kill the running applications. If I failed to do so, the apps continue to run in the background and eats up extra battery. What I want to know now is that, is this the default behavior of CM7? Or did I miss setting something so that when I exit an application using back button the application is actually really being terminated? I know the setting wherein long press on back button to terminate the app but I really want to set the exit using single short press in back button. Any idea? Thanks in advance..

[Q] delay to Load Menu & Home screen...

Hi developers
i have loading delay on my Sam.GS3
when i use an application or work for 2-3 minutes on setting or ...
and then back to main menu OR press Home key to back to home
i see delay to load shortcuts or widgets, or when wanna back to main menu delay to load apps icons and etc.
i cleared the cache and closed all running apps (but just system apps.)
but still i see delay.
however i had this problem on Xperia Arc, Xperia S but i could free RAM and then i could see that the smartphone work faster and more responsible
BUT now Galaxy S III (however) it has QuadCore processor But i have problem and cannot clear RAM and cache.
what s your opinion and what should i do to have faster mobile and real quadcore access.

U got 2 ways to fix this problem:
1) go to setting-->Developer options-->Window animation scale and Transition animation scale set to off or 0.5x (this should be help)
2) Root your device and install titanium backup, it allow u to freeze apps, like some samsung background apps eg: allshare.etc u can close it through there
then it can save ur ram.
Hope this could help u.
It's a problem with the launcher. Samsung is taking a play out of Apple's book here. They've configured the launcher such that when ram demands are high, regardless of how much free ram is left, the launcher closes so that the current app will run smoothly and the user will be unaware of the decrease in ram. Sadly, not everyone likes this.

U can flash OMEGA rom, for example, which has all the tweaks U will ever need, and it comes with omega kitchen preinstalled, and there U can find different kernels, to improve battery life, mods to reduce home button lag, etc..

But it may not cure your problem 100% .
TRYLag
for the home button lag - disable the home button when pressed for S-voice.
I also got transitions & pop-ups set to 0.5x rather than 1x (in dev options under settings)
Surfing the net pressing home button and find the home screen reloads. So bit of a lag which is very annoying, until samsung sort this out with a software update there is a work around. Simply disable s-voice from.settings that's it. I haven't actually experienced screen reload since.
Let me know if this works for you or not.
Try this
Untick under s-voice settings the following:
Launch S Voice
Wake up command
Under application manager go to running select s-voice and stop all services.
Go to all and disable s-voice. This will remove the app from app draw list too, you can also disable chat on app too.
This should stop the app running in the background.
