SD card recover question - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am rooted and have installed the recovery tool. When I click recovery mode and the recovery mode pulls up how do I install gladiatrix from the sd card. The only option with the sd card I have is update.zip. and that is not the correct file.

The .zip you are trying to install has to be in the root of your (internal) sdcard.

I can not figure out how to get the file in the correct folder. When I try copy and past it using Adeo, I don't have permissions. I also tried using astro and it wont let ne move of copy and paste. Any ideas?

Copy the update.pkg to your sdcard, flash the recovery.img, install from sdcard, then you're done.
What do you mean
Flash the recovery image where do i get that from

All I did was copy it to the sd card and rename it update.zip. Then booted into recovery and installed from there. Nice and easy.

How to format SD card?

I have rooted my phone. Installed a custom ROM. Now my sd card is loaded with unwanted things. Wat shoud I do? Copy/paste the openrecovery folder to a comp. Format SD card and then copy that folder back to sd? Or update.zip again?
Anybody?

Just format it normally and paste back.

Thanks, had a similar problem and wanted to know this as well.
Remember to move all apps to phone memory before format.

What about update.zip? It is needed anymore on root of the sd card?

You can simply delete the update.zip file without any problems.

You need to keep update.zip on root of sdcard. It doesnt enter recovery mode if you not copy it back.

For such stuff, using the Droid Tool is the best way:

Format it with your android phone, or in recovery, not with your PC.

My problem with most of the ROMs, empty "ext_sd" folder.

Hi,
I'm still trying to find a ROM that I can use for my daily usage. My main problem is that almost all the ROMs that I flash fail to detect my ext_sd folder, a.k.a. my external SD card.
When I flash an ICS ROM and go to the file explorer to install titanium backup and restore my apps, it says that this folder is empty.
Sometimes when I restart several times, it finds my SD card, sometimes I have to flash other ROMs to have it but it's OK in some ROMs like CM10 but eventually it losts this folder as well.
Since I'm S-ON, I can't get back to GB ROMs.
SD card may be problamatic but it's OK when I mount it via attaching cable to phone or attaching it directly to my PC with a SD card cartridge.
What could be the problem? How I can check that SD card is OK?
Thanks.
Let me add this that if I open back of my phone and remove and re insert the SD card, it gets detected but it's cumbersome.
Use a root explorer to go up to root and instead of ext sd go into sd card 2 folder. Should be there

Downloads.. CWM /= file explorer.. Help

Here's my issue.
It seems my downloads are being saved to the only internal memory. Nothing is being saved to the sd card. Using root explorer I see a recently downloaded ROM zip ( in the download file).. and that zip only. I go into cwm recovery to the same download file and it's not there. Two previously downloaded files are there (different ROM and gapps) but not the most recently downloaded ROM.

CWM has install zip from internal or external. I use root explorer to move downloads from storage/sdcard0/downloads to root of sdcard1 which is external.

I'll try that and see if the file is then visible..
Edit:
Moved the file using root explorer from internal SD to external SD and it was then visible in cwm external..
Strange..

[Q] Unable to write to sd card

I think I have seen this addressed somewhere before but I can not find it.
I have just updated to KitKat and am using Freeza's Stockish rom. When I try to run a restore in Mybackup, I am getting an error that says, Unable to write to sd card. Make sure the sd card is inserted properly, is not connected to your pc, and is not full.
When I go into Es file explorer, it shows all the files there.
How do I fix this?
I also see in Titanium backup that is says sd card not writable.
I GOT IT!!!

I'm curious to know if there's a workaround for those who aren't rooted.

This seems to be a common problem on the deodex rom. I will post what I did to fix it. Just know when you go into a file explorer it is going to show 2 external sd cards. They are both the same, it just shows 2 now. You have to do a simple build prop edit with a program like root explorer. Just navigate to system/etc/permissions/platform.xml. long press on platform.xml and select open in text editor. Under WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE...Add this entry... <group gid="media_rw" />

Yea, I tried @micmars xml edit, it worked to create folders on the SD card but I still couldn't save twrp files to my SD card in recovery.

I'm having this issue as well on official 4.4.2 rooted. Can't copy files from internal to external in both root Explorer and es file manager.

The fix that I found allows me to do anything with the sd card.
I get the error when initially trying to copy the files.. seems like the error rests with the internal storage and not the sd card.

Here's an interesting read.
http://www.gottabemobile.com/2014/0...ote-3-android-4-4-problem-hits-micro-sd-card/
The "Problem" is not actually a problem apparently. Google actually designed KitKat this way. They are trying to keep as much as possible on internal storage.
I'm also on Freza's Stockish ROM and had the same problem. I can confirm that the platform.xml edit appears to fix the problem of not being able to write to the external SD.
But strangely, Titanium Backup still reports that the backup folder is not-writeable, but then when I run a backup it finishes successfully.

Same thing happened to me. I went into recovery, cleared cache and dalvik, and rebooted. Everything showed up properly then.
TWRP issue fixed by flashing the file located here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2471564&page=47 Post number 462.
