Google SMS - no replies - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone use Google SMS in which you can get very quick very targeted search results to short queries by sending a text to 46645 or 466453 (GOOGL or GOOGLE)? I like this simple feature a lot and have used it for years. Now on my fancy new Tbolt I can send these messages but I never get a reply. VZW have changed their story on who is to blame and what is being done. Even thought it very well might be their fault I've given up arguing with the bureaucrats over there... I've also seem some posts on this directly on Google Mobile forums but no resolutions.

I have never. But you have one of the most advanced smart phones. Just hit the Search button and say what you want to know like "Tastee Sub Location" and it will google it for you.

Issues sending SMS's, i have searched forum :-)

Hi All,
I have searched on this one and can't quite find anyone with a resolution, either positive or negative. Any help is appreciated.
When sending SMS's i have found that my contacts lists will show the correct entries for the person that i search for. However after about 2 seconds, all the entries (ie home p, mobile p & work p) will change into e-mail entries. If i guess & click on correct one it fills out the SMS form correctly, however this is a bit hit and miss. Whats worse is that the order changes!
Thanks guys, and if i have missed the post with the solution please accept my apologies & i understand I’ll be suitably chastised.
PS - ROM 3.17.03 ENG with RADIO 4.21.00
Confirmed...
It happens when you go to 'inbox', hit 'New' (left-bottom), hit the contacts icon, and then use the 'search' function to look for someone with more than one entry of either type 'mobile' or 'email'.
Bad bug, they never tested the search from here. Must say I never search from there either. Looks like the search results window is populated in a screwed up way, where the order of the real information and the displayed information doesn't match.
They really need to force these developers to use their own code on a day-by-day basis.
( I send my SMS's by just going to the contacts straight away, tap and hold a contact and selecting 'Send SMS' from the context menu. Works unless you're sending the same message to a number of people, I guess.)
Thanks for that, seems to be a bit too much "they didn't test" in this product i must say.
I'm sure they'll get it all sorted in the end. It took a very long time to get PPC2002 to a usable state .

[Q] advertisement

I sometimes get a notification which tells me about various applications that can be downloaded, I find these notifications extremely annoying, not only because I hate advertisements and put a lot of effort into stopping then on my desktop PC which I am very experienced with, but on the HTC one, when I get one of these notifications it uses the default notification sound, which makes me think I have a text message (sometimes at ridiculous times of the day) but instead it's telling me about star cam or some other crappy app. In this respect the advertisements are worse than on my desktop PC, as I never turn the mobile off in case I am being contacted, so the possibility of getting these annoying notifications is 24/7.
I don't know why, but I never had this problem on my htc desire HD, or the tytn 1 and tytn 2, only my htc one.
I need to stop these advertisments! I have tried going into "App info" for google play store to disable "show notification" but I don't seem to be able to find it except for "notify me about updates to apps i've downloaded" now this doesn't seem like it, because that only counts for apps I already have and only for updates. My problem is for notifications about apps I never had, also the app updates notification never seems to make a sound (Which is good) but this other notification uses the default notification sound as I stated before.
I have come across various apps that supposedly stop ads, but I don't want to get my phones resources bogged down with apps that may or may not do what I want and might not even work anyway, but I need some help please!
Do a simple Google search. This has been talked about plenty.

sigh.. always someone suggests google. By that statement this website could not exist at all, everything could be googled, the whole point of a forum is a more comprehensive and interactive 'forum' with which to ask questions and get detailed answers.
as I said.. I already know about adaway and other apps which stop ads. I have already done a "simple search"
https://www.google.co.uk/#q=android+play+store+app+advertisements&spell=1+
first page 10/10 all results come back with different apps you can download. None of them specify this particular problem and may or may not be generic ad removers.
Clue: description of number 1 app result :
The Google AdSense app provides an easy way to access key data from your AdSense and AdMob account. Access reporting features anywhere, directly from your mobile phone. The first version of the app gives you access to: the key earnings information (that are now also accessible via widget), top custom and URL channels, ad units and sites reports, payment alerts.
Please note: YouTube revenue and revenue from the legacy AdMob are not available in this app.

Wrong.
This is a development forum, not a help desk. Take the Google search course, it will help you immensely.
Also, you posted in the wrong section. Questions go in Q&A and not here.

Irrelevant.. a forum is for discussion was my point, that's still correct, no matter what technicalities, of exactly what sub forum you're supposed to post in.
Forum is for discussion still remains fact
Period.

But it is expected that you do your own research before posting. Period. And research would have yielded results. That's a fact.

It was already clearly established in one of my posts that I did in fact do research, that's also a fact, please refer to the above post. Before coming here I already checked the first 10-20 links which were all apps.
Obviously research yields results eventually, which is why I already tried that first and posting here is an extension of that and also another method of "research" which by the way is always my last resort, not because I don't like forums, because I do, but I always do my best to avoid the obnoxious and repetitive "google it" responses you get, even when it's obviously not valid... and that's a fact too.
I think that these aren't Google ads... This happened to me before after installing a app. I don't remember what app it was but the app was sending me ads for crappy ads... Check the apps you installed since you started getting these notifications

[Q] GoSms limited

I've searched everywhere over the internet and found little to answer my question. I make sms themes for GoSms, right. Though the problem is that the plugin installed into the go sms program is quite limited. I saw that a theme maker was available for pc before but last information I see in its regard dated to 2012 I believe. I looked for anything from 2014 but I can't find it now for download because every link I found resulted in an empty page. Am I missing something? How are people still sharing or selling themes on the Android market with such limitations on the plugin? I can't change the default avatar pic for contacts with no pictures, I can't change the background I'd like to use for the bubble chat.. the plugin only gives me option to change the color and transparency with the only option for a background for the message list and chat conversation window. I'm quite confused here. I would love to be able to share and sell some themes but I won't do it without being able to theme Go Sms completely (as in no limitations as the plugin has). Can anyone help me with this please? Give me some insight or something. I've overly confused myself and down to wanting to give up. Any useful info is very well appreciated.
Noooby...? At least an I don't know reply is better than nothing. If nothing thanks anyway.
The reason you are not getting replies is that GOsms threads are banned from the site due to security issues.

Is this worth buying if i will never use voice commands?

Is this worth buying if i will never use voice commands? What features will not work?
This is very important, please reply
it already there's another thread with this question
Yes but i am interested in other peopls opinions answell. Thanks for your reply though!
Yes, for me the main advantage is being able to see my notifications discreetly and quickly. Then being able to swipe away less important emails and text or responding on my phone to important ones. With mini launcher you can quickly access your phone apps without voice. Only thing that you might miss is replying to texts directly on your watch and google search.
Thank you!

Search within whatsapp

I am using a Samsung Galaxy S6 edge user in India. Ive been long an ios user, recently switched to android. The device and OS feels great except for one little glitch. In iOS in whatsapp when putting in a keyword in the search bar, it used to search that word within the chat content also, while in android it just searched the Group name or contact name.
I use it a lot to search for keywords, it helps me to recall when did i talk about certain topic. How do i do it. I know its a pretty simple question and I am most probably missing something silly. But Pls help.
Thanks

You have to go into the conversation of the contact your searching text and then click on the 3-dot icon in the top right. It should then have an Option to search within the contact for any text you enter.
*EDIT*
It's not possible to search for text using the search icon on the main chat view.
