[Q] How to Update X10 OS - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Okay I have an X10 on the way which i plan on using . My question is are there updates for it yet as the person still had the 1.6 OS on it and would really like this updated to maybe Froyo at leas if possible. I am a total DUMMY when it comes to all these liks with rom's etc...I have no idea which ones i need which ones i do not. Could someone please tell me if this phone can be updated in some normal kinda way or what do i need to do? I do not plan on rooting it just want the os updated. Thanks for your help ......

Guess I need to add i will not be using it on ATT it will be used on ST

you could wait till later this year, x10 is going to be getting 2.3, but for now, you can use SEUS to update to 2.1. if you want something else, I'll help you.
edit: plug your phone into computer, and run the sony Ericsson updater that is on your phone already, it will tell you step by step. but I really recommend going through Bin4ry's/Renderos's instructions, I'll find you a link

Apps2SD...possible solution

Was browsing a site and found a link to a possible solution. Anyone willing to try it
http://forum.android.com.pl/f200/ap...karcie-pamiae-ci-23191/index7.html#post216167
Hmmmm
It looks interesting, if i wasn't too much lazy, i would give it a go... maybe i will, if i did try, i will come back here and post the results...
And someone posted something here about this too, but he never came back to support the topic.
Just a little question is APPS2SD on Android 2.1 or 2.2?
Thanks in advance...
The apps2sd built in the system is a 2.2 feature...
i'd like to try it, but i don't want to brick my phone again^^
but isn't it worthless?
this month is the "big update" to android 2.1 or 2.2...
so do you really want to get App2SD NOW?
if we get 2.1 i'll try it, on 2.2 NOT 'cause 2.2 already has App2SD...
@POTI_96 what makes you think that you are getting android 2.2 ? SE has confirmed that the phone will only get the 2.1 UPDATE
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
SE has confirmed 2.1 for X10, but also indicated possible further updates (but not confirmed) the semantics are opposite to your impression
I was unsure if we get 2.2 or 2.1...
Sry...

[Q] scamble_v01.3 mod/rom market problem

I just flashed to rendeiro2005's froyo mod located here. Before I had the paypal app running no problem using freex10 2.1 rom. now i cant find paypal on my phone in market and from my computer all I get is that its not compatible with my phone.
Is anyone else having this problem? I have BB54.
Other than that I have no problems with it and love it. Its just that I use paypal alot for my company and really need it on the go without all the web login hassle.
I dont use paypal and i cant find it either. I am running the same ROM. I am trying to get it another way and will try to post if for u if its not paid. I love the ROM too.
Update: i looked on the android market website on the computer and it says not compatible for device so it looks like u cant get paypal. Unless u switch ROMS. I find this quite weird. Sorry to tell u bad news

Ok.
Try this:
Open your build.prop (i recommend use flashtool if you`re not familiar with this file) and where you read
ro.build.fingerprint=generic/es209ra/es209ra/es209ra:2.2.1/FRG83/rendeiro2005
change to
ro.build.fingerprint=google/passion/passion/es209ra:2.2.1/NI104/60505:user/release-keys
reboot

Should i?

The arc(normal one) arrived cheap(589usd), i dont have the money but by december i will, should i upgrade to it? Or should i save my money and wait for a better upgrade?
My x10 is in top condition, no problems and i got a sgs1 as a backup phone brand new that i got in exchange of my old milestone
But the arc is so cool(or at least seems like it since i havent tested it)

Dont ;-)

Bad choice..
The arc is not worth it and has some build quality issues.
Keep your Money!
Soon we will have some new models (Several Dual Cores), and by the next year, expect some quads...

Quad core cellphones? Theres barely any use for duals, that would be one OP phone

Damn, really? I thought they learned from the x10( thought the x10 doesnt have build quality issues)
Is this a known issue? Or.your own arc?

The body has been cracking for many users by the proximity sensor and se is trying to deny it.
Go to the arc forums and read the huge thread in general.
The x10 has build issues too, especially when it comes to the micro usb port. Many can't charge or flash radios or upgrade
That would be a dumb decision if you ask me specially for you who have a X10 & SG in good condition, Wait for a phone that beside looking cool actually worth the money & feel like an upgrade
i would keep my money and wait for a real upgrade next year, especially if you have 2 phones in great condition.
Yes, both phones are perfect, guess i got a (got to have the latest) fever going on
But with my x10 running 2.3 its not that outdated, and sgs still runs 2.1 but i dont even use it, i didnt planned to have it, i got it cause the store couldnt replace the milestone, its only a backup in case the x10 screws. At least is the amoled one

Lol it's funny the much better phone is your back up.
Change the file system, install a custom Rom and see how a truly good phone works

Anyway i.mainly use the x10 cause i dont like to follow the mainstream, everyone here that has an android has a galaxy of some sorts, i think i might be the only xperia user lol

There are not many people asking for it, but apparently there is a root-program named z4root that only works on 1.6, apparently they didn't pay much attention to getting flashtool
The only other reason could be that their update to 2.1 gave them more problems than they had before, but they really should go to their SE service centre to get that corrected.
There really are no other benefits of going back, not to mention, there are no ways of really getting back to it, since SEUS or PC Companion won't let you do it, and there are no custom firmwares for 1.6.
I hope i've made things a bit more clear for you.
i downgrade it and i think is far better than 2.1 my opinion. There is a file on the internet that is android 1.6 for x10mini

Sony Tablet S Honeycomb

You know what guys, I really miss honeycomb. Especially the way you add widgets and also the customization that Sony did with the app drawer- they shouldn't have gotten rid of it in my opinion.
I still have my old Tablet S (Although with a cracked screen sadly)
Is it possible (I have root) to downgrade to 3.2?
Why did Google get rid of the awesome screen which added widgets.
Or perhaps someone could send the launcher?
Ive done extensive research and tried many methods and asked people alot smarter than me it cant be done until the bootloader is u locked. Once it is than we can the reason is because the recovery has been updated in the current version of android and once it is you cant go back because it is part of the Rom and is hidden. Yes ive tried downgrading and before I got bootlooped it said cannot because of recovery version. I WASTED about 2 months on this idea as well as a few other people and also Condi the best dev we have over here for the tablet s has tried and theres still no way until the bootloader. Ive also looked at testpoint unlock but if you've ever looked at the motherboard theres gazillions of testpoints so who knows which is the right one plus taking it apart isnt exactly a walk in the park like it is with phones. Youll just have to wait like me. Btw head over and sign the bootloader unlock petition.
