Hi. I own a U20a xperia mini pro with 2.1.A.0.0.6 kernel, and I've flashed CM 6 v4 on it. Now it shows that my phone is a U20i, and as a result 2G and 3G are not working. How can I fix this? I've read a lot of posts at xda, and I still couldn't come up with an answer. Thanks in advance!
Try going to settings, wireless, mobile network then click on access point names. Then choose if your pay as u go or contract etc...

@andy_dunlop thanks for yor answer, but it still doesn't work. Is it possible to change basebands, ie installing u20a after flashing the ROM?
I got it to work by doing the following:
- Restored to the official 2.1.A.0.0.6 using SEUS;
- Checked that I had U20a baseband then, and that I could use 2G and 3G;
- Installed CM 6 Final using the instructions on the official topic;
- Using TIM carrier from Brazil, it works like a charm!
I have a U20a also -
Is your phone still showing as u20i? If so, are you connecting to 3g? (How do you check this?)
Thanks!
U20i is just a string at the ROM build.prop file. AFAIK you can change it to anything you want to. I read somewhere that the baseband is not included in custom ROMs, and that seems to be the case: even though it shows U20i on my phone, in fact I have u20a since this was the one SEUS installed.
You have 3g enabled when you have H or 3g in your notification bar. Hope that helps!
Thanks! That's exactly what I needed to know -
I was used to seeing 3g, but with the current ROM I was seeing "H" and I didnt know exactly what that meant.
I've been using Slade87's Cyanogen Froyo - CM6 v2.1 and it has been great, but as it was loading with the "i", I wanted to make sure that the ROM hadnt disabled my 3g.
I'm less than a week into to the world of Android (and Mini Pro) and am loving it! Thanks for the assistance!

I flashed my phone with cyanogen 7.2 yesterday(it was running stock gingerbread 2.3.3) and lost network access. Everything else works fine ony there is no network reception. I have tried resetting the phone, flashed another rom (icslunar) but still no luck.Pls Help
Okey man, i will play Sherlock Holmes. So:
I wondering that you didn't read FAQ, Guides etc.... like me ;p
But also i think that you are NOT as tricky as me so,
if cyanogem 7.2 is a next version of 7.1 (which has OLD BASEBAND) it seems like 7.2 is for OLD BASEBAND TOO.
What is more you have some ways to fix it:
1. Install patch from mik_os from his 7.1 CM thread.
2. Flash old baseband because stock GB in LG i equiped with new one. >>CLICK<<
3. Flash rom for NEW BASEBAND like Nitrgen - it has very very good performace.
You choose, I suggesting
I am in very good mood today - chrismas ;p
Press thanks if you want..
Cheers
Ok got my network back by restoring previous baseband but data still is not working!
Ok, here's your problem.
When you upgraded to 2.3.3 stock gingerbread, you eliminated the possibility of any ROM based on the old baseband for .32 and limited your options to ROMs supporting the NEW baseband, .35.
If you want to switch to the old baseband so you can use those ROMs I suggest you use this guide but be VERY CAREFUL.
As for your data problem, go to Settings--> Wireless and Networks-->Mobile Networks--> AccesPointNames and check. If it's empty, you should call your service provider and ask them for your GPRS/EDGE settings.
I am trying to activate Wireless Tethering on my "Rooted" Xperia mini
Model: E10i
Firmware:2.1-update 1
Baseband: M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015
Kernel: 2.6.29
[email protected] #1
Build: 2.1.1.A.0.6
I tried Open Garden, Barnacle, Wirlesstether, and none of these apps worked.
What happens is that the wifi tethering starts somehow, and other devices such the Transformer (HC) or the PC are able to detect the wireless service, but they are stuck in "Obtaining IP".
Also, I noticed that in whole the apps I tested, the Upload stucked to "0", while the download was active.
The Wifitether app also notified that the Kernel version of my phone was not supporting tethering. But somehow some users affirm that they managed to make it work.
So my Question is basic and simple:
What should I do???
Note that:
- I already tested any possible settings in all the apps.
- I followed some guides but mostly couldn't understand a word since I am not familiar with development terms.
- I of course searched this forum for a solution, but there aren't any specific to this problem.
- In one thread a user confirms that he made it work and the problem was that he needed Iptables.
here is the link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1235541
He shared this link for a solution, which is all gebrish to me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1184907
(Something about Kernel needing IPTable support, not really clear).
Any help would be appreciated.
You could try using a custom kernel like nAa kernel. And nAa MiniCM7. It has tethering built in. (Of course you need to have your bootloader unlocked first.)
tnx for the reply.
I just learned that ICS will come in march for the xperia mini.
I guess it will solve the problem.
Is this a joke?
w.xperiablog.net/2012/01/05/sony-ericsson-confirms-unchanged-kernel-for-android-4-0-ics-release/
Xperia x10 mini and xperia mini are different phones. X10 mini (E10i) will not recieve an official ICS-update. Hence, your best option is to unlock you bootloader and change to naa kernel and ROM.

Hello XDA developers.
Im a bit confused, hope you could help me..
I have an LG Optimus P500 H , and i want to install a cyanogenmod ROM with gingerbread.
Of all the information i had gathered, my phone is in the OLD baseband, with a kernel version: 2.6.32.9
I have readed that i have to install a new baseband for the cyanogenmod "P500-v10E-baseband.7z " from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1149530 , is that correct?
Wich version of cyanogen do you recommend me to install? I live in argentina and i dont want to lose my 3G/HDSPA/EDGE connection.
The other thing is, that all the links are dead because of the megaupload closure. =(
Thanks.
You seem confused. New baseband is v20. As long as you are not on T-Mobile, data and 3g should work fine. If you are, you can try and if it doesn't work, revert to v10. One of the network frequencies doesn't seem working with v20 (I Think its 1800hrz - correct me if I'm wrong) and as long as your network isn't dependent of that frequency, its fine.
Try out adfad666's N2 or a cyanogenmod nightly if you want. Lupohirp's ICS is almost complete and its for the new baseband, and as far as I know, the newest oxygen tom is too

Or if you don't want to flash new baseband you can try the old baseband fixes for cm7 or cm9.

Thanks-a-lot!
I think i will go for "CyanogenMod 7.2.0-RC0-OptimusOne-KANG [.32][.35][BothBasebands]" when adfad666 releases the removed link, until i feel more confident messing with the basebands and kernels, hehe..
Last year i had a HTC, wich i flashed so many times i lost count, now i see this as a whole new world!
PD: Dont like much the homescreen of "nightly" version. I miss SPB shell so much...
Hi all,
I just unlocked my Optimus T installed Cyanogenmod 7.2.0 RC0 Thunderg-KANG via clockworkmod and all works as it looks. I did not test data but it looks I have some.
I currently use a German e-Plus sim card but the same works with the T-Mobile card.
Then I installed two ICS and noticed thet dont ask me for the sim code when restarting the phone and I also do not see any network.
No sim card error icon is in the notification bar.
Then I installed updated 7.2.0 RC 2 p500 signed and the same issue.
Is this baseband related?
mine is: v070-000-000-mar-23-2009
I copied back my old KANG clockworkmod back up and all works again.
So does anybody know what the reason could be?

u still on old bb?

U think baseband can be the reason? This is mainly for data not voice.
With all other mods I do not have any network voice and data at all and the mods do not ask for the SIM Pin to enter when booting.
no body has an idea what could cause the sim card issue ?

Maybe your problem is Funny SIM problem. Check this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583958
Also, how did you check your baseband? Your baseband information probably not correct. Please check the below link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15309588#post15309588
Check these "Q. My baseband shows as v07u-000-000-MAR-23-2009. Which one is this?" and "Q. How do I know which baseband I have?"

With the wrong baseband, you will not get either of the two. It looks like you are on the old baseband. You need the new baseband to get voice and data to work:

Try updating baseband (v20)

Hey guys
I did some more research on my side and as it looks the one ROM CyanogenMOD 7.2.0 Thunder KANG seems to work fine.
I never flashed the new baseband before and thus assume that I actually still run with the old baseband.
Few GB and all ICS ROMS don't work with my SIM Card and thus I think this is in deed the Baseband issue.
Out of precaution - I am in Germany right now and the old baseband works as it looks. How likely are the chances to brick the phone beyond repair doing the baseband flash to the new baseband?
ICS is cool but GB works pretty well here - the battery is good and that is what counts for me.
Any idea is this a pure hit n miss or it should mainly work but can in rare cases go totally wrong?
Thanks guys
Claas
Hi, i was using firmware .431 (i guees), baseband 72 and the KA Rom, after it was discontinued i changed to FXP and during this time my phone was working properly, then i decided to move to .587 firmware (baseband 77) to try jellysandwich and i started to have 3g problems, i cant get my 3g to work anymore with any stock based rom, and even with the oficial roms,
I tried to come back to 531, to gingerbread, tried 587 with 72 baseband, tried APN programs (global and brazilians), but nothing works, i can find my network at the mobile networks menu, but the APNs menu shows nothing and the phone status menu shows that my mobille network state is disconected (the calls are working properly). The "funny" is that if i use CM9 my 3g works like a charm.
I don't know what to do anymore, i want to use a stock based rom, but i tried everything i know and nothing works, someone have any guees about what is wrong?
Thanks
P.S. I may have installed a neo v rom by mistake.

Try to flash previous the Baseband from stock which was worked for you.

I tried that too, and many combinations of kernels, basebands, firmwares and roms, the only one that works for me now is Cyanogen with it's kernels and any baseband/firmware
Did you checked whether the APN is entered correctly or not?
