Everytime i update a ROM, i loose my settings of different pages in my phone ,i have reinstall the widgets (not the app). Is there a better way to do these. I mean, i want my facebook widget to be on a page and Pulse news and bbc on one page, I have it set right now but if i update to the new version of the ROM i am using i will have to recreate all that.
Can anyone guide on this matter ?

I have yet to find a good way to do this, other than using a third-party launcher so that it can be restored using "restore missing apps and data" in TiBu.
Also some third-party launchers have their own backup and restore functions.
There's no clean way to do this for built-in launchers, especially since many ROMs change the launcher to modded variants.
As entropy said. Find a launcher with save & restore option. Otherwise Titanium backup.
I would be interested too if you find something to solve this without an app.

even with a 3rd party launcher, i dont think widgets can be restored.
This is correct.I kmow Launcher pro will save the placement of the widget but it will show as "problem loading widget" so essentially its useless in that aspect.
If you use the widgets that are specific for the launcher you are using, the restore will work. However, if you use a widget from another application, the launcher does not know where to find the app. I am not sure why this happens, it may be because a unique ID is assigned an app upon install, and perhaps that ID is used when setting a widget. When you re-install an app (or all of them in the case of a TiBu restore) the apps get new IDs assigned to them... That is just a guess.
Regardless, every launcher has this issue with app widgets. Somehow they get around it with their own proprietary widgets.
Is there any way to refresh manually our choose news topics and settings with this app on the prime. It seems pretty useless to me as i can't find a way to get into the menu.
I know if you want to change the setting about the weather on the widget. Hold on the weather widget and a new screen will pop up and you can refresh, set it to manual, and other options.
It is busted for sure.
The OP is talking about the App itself, NOT the widget. I have this app and use it everyday on my phone. On the tablet, it has no settings menu (weather, news, refresh) so you cannot add or remove news headings. I have 3-4 custom news headings.. but with no settings menu, it is essentially worthless as is.. bummer as I have always liked the simplicity of this app and we just got it for ICS - it was not in HC - and it is broken.
I was able to do this with a backup from my Nexus S 4G using titanum backup. (requires the prime to be rooted) I just copied the tar.gz and the preferences files for the news and weather app (called genie in titanium) from the titanium folder on my Nexus to the Titanum folder on my Prime. Then in the titanium app on the Prime I went Menu>More>Reload application. Then titanium was able to see my backup and when I restored it gave the option to restore data only. The app is the same version as the one on my phone and I didn't want to replace the actual .apk anyway because I have read deleting system apps messes up OTA updates. Once the data restore was complete the app had all the same settings and news topics as my phone.
Hello; I can't seem to find the Phone application in the app drawer, or in selection lists (e.g. Launcher 7 initial setup). I've frozen a few things using Titanium, but it's not on that list anywhere either. I can find it in Astro easily enough, but no way else.
Help!

If you can see the contacts app, the dialer is just one of the tabs... it's not perfect, but it works...
Thanks. I finally got it back by uninstalling GO Contacts.
Hi all,
What I want to do: remove all Timescape elements from stock Sony ROM safely (avoiding force closes, not random deletion)
Why: I noticed that a Sony executive announced a week or two ago that their 2013 phones will not have Timescape running through the phone because it did result in performance lag. Instead they will use one app for the same purpose. I want to test removing the lag in my phone by removing anything Timescape.
News on Timescape: http://www.xperiablog.net/2013/01/14/rip-timescape-long-live-socialife/
You need a rooted device and an explorer with root access like ES Explorer in order to delete the apk files in the System/App directory. You can find more information at the bottom of the first post in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1546253&highlight=bloatware.
I would recommend not to delete them actually just in case you want something back. In my case I have only change the file extension so the app won't start. For example gmail.apk has been renamed to gmail.apk1
A few months ago I clicked 'allow Facebook to sync with contacts' and similar options, I thought some features were useful. I tried disabling them all today and it has already made a helpful boost in performance. The true test will be a few days performance.
What I did was root my phone. Then I used an app manager that would allow me to disable system apps. That way I could easily restore any app that are really required. Anything with time scape or Facebook got disabled. I also disabled all system apps that were available from the app store.

No need to root. Just goto the app manager and disable all timescape items and anything else not needed.
I rooted and used Titanium Backup where I uninstalled all "Timescape"-related (appr. 5-6 entries...)
Root needed to delete

You still need root to delete system apps. Once you have disabled them and decided that causes no issues, deleting them will free up a little space.
A few days ago I disabled as much Timescape as I could and so far it really does remove a lot of lag. The phone is already usable...
It can be nice seeing friend's Facebooks pictures etc. in your phonebook but the lag is not worth it. :victory:
Ignore this... App is still there, just not displaying in launcher. If Icon in their launcher is deleted, you can still access it through the gallery by swiping right for the camera.
I accidently deleted the Omate Camera app last night, but can't track it down. (Mea culpa:my ROM backup MIA as well)
Tried looking through Dees Troy's Bluetooth ROM for the apk, but didn't recognize it by name. App isn't in the Omate store, yet seemed to be proprietary Omate when I was using it.
Any help locating a copy to re-install would be appreciated (or even the name of the APK). Rather fond of my setup now and would rather not mess with it by reflashing.
If you think you got app and only icon is gone just go to setting in app manegmer find the luncher and tap on clear data bottom. This will rest your luncher and bring your all app again.
But if you have uninstalled the app by root access the easiest way is flashing new ROM.I hope this help you.
