There is no one else listed on the sheet. But I have seen "rolfd" actively moderating the threads.

I heard this about a month or two ago, because i complained at the XDA COMPLAINTS section about us not getting any moderation from mmelo, they told me that there was bad weather there, and he could not connect to internet from where he lived... That was a month ago, maybe he's having IRL issues? i don't know, but even though we don't have a OFFICIAL mod, others come around quite a lot, specially Binary.
Disregard the name for our section because more than 1 come in regularly.
Alright, I'll pm them even though their document says not to. No other choice.

MMelo76 is Brazilian and I have conversed with him both in Portuguese and English. Yes his English is not advanced but, his comprehension is excellent and is able to get his point across. He is very conscientious and through. The area he is in has been getting mudslides and alike so there has been alot of line disruption. hope this subsides for him........... and things get back to normal.
We are Lucky to also have MTM and ROLFD as mods as well both are seasoned and definitely do not put up with the useless diatribe that occasionally gets posted. BTW...... isn't Rolf a form of massage ? so Rolfd means you were massaged ????...........

Hi, Hi, sorry to disappear around this time.
It was not just a connection problem, my house has suffered from the rains about 3 months. I'm still renovating it and trying to have a good condition of housing.
'm prioritizing my family (wife and two children), employment and rebuild my house. I appeal to it, but unfortunately it takes a while.
Well I am accessing the forum just a few things with the change of employment, the forum is blocked by the server, so I'm short on time of access.
Things are almost resolved, after making my house, we get some infection, but we're better now.
I appreciate the emails and support of all, I intend to return as soon as possible to support my habit to the forum.
Because of the blockade, I'm not accessing a lot to them, report post, but I'm always trying to look at the forums that I am assigned. Over the weekend, I dedicate more time to my house if I actually change or buy another property, I will have more time for now, still a little troubled.
I still have many emails to check, both here and personal ....

I have the trial version and I want to buy the full one, but on "pocket gear" I've seen a post of a user that bought the full version but he's still unable to assign more then 3 pictures.

I have to agree with XDA developer Peter Poelman
come on xcahnge - $14 is not a lot for software... that is damned useful...
and entertaining, and intuitive. Instead of moaning why not just develop your own version of the software and distribute it as freeware?
I mean if it cost several hundred pounds and you used it three times you'd have cause to grumble.
Dont forget that programmers have mouths to feed - and being a software developer is as worthy a job as a train driver or electrician.

this is a great site and i normally log in daily i used to have a nokia communicator but the xda is a lot more usefull and the only real website for the xda is my-symbian.com and that started a bit like this site but turned very quickly into a forum for selling software and not really intrested in the people or the product it would be s ahame for this to happen here there is loads of free software out there try downloading bear share and you will get loads of games. anyway keep up the good work on the website.

It is useless, because it is generated depending on number on your Register screen. And that one is probably calculated from your name/or other unique parameters of you xda.

The program does work with my ppc2003. Anyway, you have to remove your sd card before the installation since the system will automatically install the software to sd card even you choose to install on the default location. The Picture2Caller does have some bugs when installed to ppc 2003. That is the software fails to work with all contacts. Anyway, if you feel ok with this, go ahead. Cheers

Tried installing it again withot the SD card, still does not work. What happens is, it does not retrieve the contact's name, and phone numbers.
You're all still great. I get a tremendous kick out of watching you all help eachother now that I've stepped back a little from spending 2 hours a day answering every second post. The fact that people still get timely and factual answers means this community really works.

not wishing any disrespect Peter Poelman .. The work you guys do is amazing - I'm running SER 1.2 happily, the site is great and the level of expertise between your users is unparalleled.
However I have noticed that people with valid questions are being totally ignored sometimes (myself included) so it can feel like a bit of a "closed club" to us newbies sometimes.
I'm sure it's probably because we don't specify our subjects quite right, but I have tried to be polite, helpful and specific to no avail so I'm not quite sure what to do to get anyones attention ?

However I do have other things, and if I really have no idea what someone's problem is, or if I feel the simplest search will answer the question, I may let it slip by occasionaly. I tried redesigning some of the templates, or even creating a whole new one, but for some reason it didn't work. I'll get back to that as soon as I have some time. (haha)

I'll probably get in trouble, but I'll lift the shroud of secrecy just a little: we're half-human, half-machine, and Peter Poelman is actually my production serial number. But what the heck happened?? Does anyone know why PPCGeeks is down and has been down for about a day now (as far as I know)? I know the FTP is working but the site is down. Also does anyone know approx. when it will be back up?
Who cares. XDA is a more robust (often nicer?) community anyway. I say more information should be posted here anyway.
And, for your info, not everyone is here because PPCgeeks is down. Some people actually prefer it here (and some of them didn't even know PPCgeeks was down in the first place).

EDIT: I may have been too harsh with this comment. I post on both XDA and PPCgeeks regularly (the titan flashing for dummies tutorial I wrote appears only on PPCgeeks, in fact). I thought the OP was implying that the ONLY reason people come here is because PPCgeeks is down, which is not true. I've been customizing my GSM phones for years here before I even know that PPCGeeks existed. I only found it because XDA's CDMA support is weak, at best.
This thread IS categorized improperly though. It doesn't belong here.
PPCGeeks has server problems fairly regularly. I think I remember someone saying they actually use a shared server. I'm sure they'll be back up soon.

Yeah I somewhat agree that the moderators are pretty harsh sometimes. I noticed that during the new test rom release when they closed two threads down. But they eventually did open them back up, in turn admitting their mistake.
I enjoy PPCGeeks as it has a much larger 6700/6800 community. The primary reason why I come to XDA is for DCD's ROMs and for the Development & Hacking Forum.

What I like about ppcgeeks is that it seems like the primary focus is the newer phones - titan, kaiser, touch... where as here, it seems like this comunity has a much larger, broader focus on a lot more devices. Both sites have their advantages over one-another, it just depends on what you're looking for. I'm glad for that, because then I have two places to check out the latest on pocket pc's and smart phones, instead of just one.
Right now, only one though...
I like both but I must say that I like it here a lot more because this is more of the "meat and potatoes" if you know what I mean. You have to filter a lot over at ppcgeeks. Both sites are good for different reasons but this place is undoubtedly my favorite.
Just my 2 cents...
I have noticed that both communities respect and credit each other and understand that both are in a quest with the same goal in mind: Advance the resources, knowledge and capabilities of our smart devices and provide support for past, present and future devices.
I give praise to both with equal endearment for both have assisted me with getting my device and knowledge to the level of functionality & competence it is today...

Im working with the Owner to get things up. we are in talks of moving his site and DB over to one of my servers. I have been texting with him all night We should be able ot work out details tomarrow and go from there. hopefully things will come back its a great site and amazing stuff. The 2 sites are different and both have a place in the internet. lets wish them allt he luck and support along the way

PPCGeeks is where I started my journey of knowledge in the PocketPC world! I've learned tons and tons from there. XDA-Dev. is awesome but PPCGeeks is my home!
I started with my original PPC6700 and found the XDA site first while googling. At that time (and even right now), the 6700 forum here is almost non-existant! So somehow, I managed to find PPCGeeks and the 6700 forum is the biggest I've seen of any PDA forums. And now that I am on the 6800, it is just as good, if not better!!

my thoughts exactly, I spent a lot of time looking and using stuff from both.
Both have different things to offer. I use both regularly.
the reason i prefer ppcgeeks is because they have a more prominent community that caters towards my specific phone needs (cdma, sprint, titan). it's just more 'local' to me, wheres this site has a very international feel. the best comparison i can think of is that ppcgeeks = a state, xda = a nation. lol

I'm greatfull to all the wonderful Chefs/developers/users/co-members at XDA
(mostly for the Raphael Forums as thats what i use-99% of times.)
But recently i've noticed that the Forums and developments here on this Forum is not SO lively and ACtive as it used to be i wonder why should that be the case...
I remember the time that there used to be ROM releases every other day but ow its come down to once or twice a week...and sometimes even longer...I've no grudge against any of the Chefs i'm totally aware of the fact that ROM Development ETC takes heck lot of time and effort ...But i feel that its not about the time its about the passion with which people respond to these ROMs they have kind of got dispassionate towards the ROMs and take it for granted and don't appreciate the work of the Chef...
I could be wrong absolutely wrong but this is what i feel.
I'm really sorry if you don't think so...
But i feel we should be greatfull to the DEvelopers/Chefs/Co-members here at XDA they are the ones who help us.
We should not take them for granted.
We should help a person who is in problem rather than thinking that someone else will ofcourse help him/her.
If we are good to people then only people will be good to us.
If we appreciate and praise a Chefs/developers Work then only he/she will be motivated to give us all something even better the next time otherwise he will feel he is just wasting time.
Show respect and regard people XDA is a wonderful place for all of us.

I've been coming here for a few years, and it seems as something gets more popular, the more it seems the people involved are less appreciative. I see a LOT of "dang, it's taking you forever to build this rom" or "it's got a bug and sucks, why can't you fix it" and that type of mentality. but on the flip side, some people draw that type of person. I've been using RRE roms for a long time. and while I've seen a few people piss in aruppenthal's post toasties, for the most part, most of the people who use his roms are very appreciative, and supportive.
I know some people won't agree with me, and I'll probably piss off a few people, but when you get this many people in 1 place, you are ALWAYS going to have dipsh!ts and idiots and the like. I mean we're talking about 250k active accounts here. think about a superbowl game.. 30-50k people and there are tons that get arrested, or beaten down cause they're drunk and stupid (or obnoxious) or whatever. I think we're doing exceptionally good here. a TON of people and most of them are nice, supportive and stuff.
Me? I love this board. it's what I consider home. (thanks ryan.)

I still think the raphael area is still in pretty good shape, with helping people and being greatfull to the cooks.

I think the board activity is representative of a normal product life cycle.
There was growth and a lot of development as people flocked to the Raphael.
Now, we are in a decline as the next generation of devices are coming out.
Big words , What has to be taken into account is that a lot of the chefs are moving on the newer devices, like Topaz, rhodium and HD2. This is a cycle, this has happened to the Kaiser forums as well but that's still active as well. Now the time has come for fresher chefs to cook their ROMs and grow. Where there is a need there shall be new ROMs. I actually think the kaiser forums are more stable nowadays but I could be wrong.
On a side note I cooked and then gave it a rest because of the the amount of work it worked out to be to make sure new changes wouldn't affect stability. Aside from the work it is to create a kitchen and find the newest\best packages. The testing process it fairly intensive. I don't think any good chef can whip up a ROM from scratch with in less than two days of hard labour, and that's if their experienced.

WOW great to get a thumbs up from a MOD ! Sir its true but still old forums or new forums good/bad/old/new-chefs/developers we all need to appreciate each other's efforts and work..
Then only XDA will continue the way it has otherwise it will someday become a paid portal with a limited number of civilized members..

So the facts are:
1) Everyone has a hope for better image (software)
2) The hardware has also many disadvantages
Even if the chefs make perfect images, the phone+software will be under the general
expectation of the users.

Do you yell at the mechanic who is working on your car just because you bought a lemon? NO.
Do you take it up with the person from which you purchased the care? YES.
You seem to forget that XDA is not responsible for the design and marketing of HTC products. They are simply trying to get the most out of their devices.
If you are so greatly upset by the device, go get an iphone and quit complaining.

I moved over from KAISER to this one recently. I too have noticed the hostility of the people in this community. Often you read something in this line.....You should have read the back 20 pages before posting your question..........You should search before posting your question......... People should realise that people may not have all the time in the world to read as much as others.........Some people are more computer competent than others...........We have different abilities. We should all try and make each other valued.

These type of people have to understand That Its not a developers/chefs fault that the App is not working ! He/She are trying their best to make it work ! But still they want everything to work fine. !

Thanks a lot buddy ! I'm glas 65% of you agree with me and maybe the 11% somewhere inside their heart do agree...but the other 24% are the people who i hope will learn something and hopefully appreciate the efforts work and dedication of the developers/chefs here.
But the people who Say that they don't care and just want resources are the ones who should be ashamed of themselves they are very ungrateful....
I hope that the 715 odd people who have read some of this thread realised something if not exactly what i wanted them to realise and hopefully will be better next time they post on any Forum.

My thoughts exactly. I find this poster's posts annoying because of that.
The site is as it has been in the lifelines of devices. New devices come out, and people move on to the next best thing. I think it is rare that there is griping - though it happens everywhere. The OP might be misinterpreting excitement to see new things in new builds for griping.

I mean that most people are passionate here about seeing what's next, and what is tweaked on new builds. I flash multiple times a week still, and love to see what I will find on a new build.
I check here multiple times a day for new things to appear. I can see people getting vocal about wanting to see new cool things. "Where's build 23085!!!" is what I am thinking, but not to piss anybody off or push people. Rather,to want to simply get my hands on it to play.
Also, complainers complain. 99.99% of people are fine with things, but the couple of schmucks complaining may make it appear that most people are ungrateful.

Sir i agree with you mostly on that.
Indeed newer ROMs and latest developments excite most of the people on this community, But I feel most of those people who download these ROMs/Programs/Developments and are so called "Flash-junkies" are taking things for granted as in i mean if they see a build 23081 they will try it maybe say its good, but it lacks this this and this... And then after a little while say please do this is 23085 please do this and this this are taking the fact for granted that the chef for sure will write a 23085 build without appreciating the effort he put in the 23081 build
In simple terms i mean is that they JUST demand with little or no apprecition of any sorts (i'm not saying that nobody appreciated anybody i'm saying this trend has crept in ....and there are a bunch of such people---> like the 4 people who said "they don't care about appreciation, they just want appreciation ! " that in my view is pretty ridiculous and then the Chefs should sell their ROMs rather than make it availible for anyone and everyone !
Anyways thats my way of showing appreciation and respect.
Maybe this will improve some people NOT that i'm trying to be a "Gandhi" and bring about a revolution at XDA. All I'm doing is just giving a matter a thought which might change the views of others.
Again i repeat NOT to offend/hurt anyone.

I agree but 99.9% is according to me increasing at a rapid rate.
Yesterday, I got a notice on my Dell Streak says there is a Froyo 2.2.2 update available.
Should I do that? I have no complaints about my current 2.2 version.

Let me rephrase it then, plenty of threads about 351 and other new roms for you to rummage through. Better get cracking. I find 351 to be a bit buggy but others love it. People here won't spoon feed you so use what has been posted and make a decision.

Im with you, buddy. I am totally ok with 2.2 and see no need for 2.2.2 if its primary update is the stage home screens. I have Launcher Pro Plus and dont care about the Dell Stage screen. I also heard that oo.voo constantly runs in the background. I dont need another back end process to constantly manually stop, so that it sill autostart again. Some have said sound quality issue. There suppose to be enhanced email functions but I bought Enhanced Email from the developers site directly and it works fine. I am not sure what Gallery updates are but im ok with the current.

Remember some time ago Google removed some 50 apps from the market because they had a malware payload? The main difference between 2.2 and 2.2.2 is that Google has closed the exploit which allowed that malware to work.
To me, that is a compelling enough reason to upgrade. However, if you don't, every so often Google may force feed you a malware removal tool. But, as said earlier, it's your choice as to whether you want to upgrade or not.

What good is a forum where you can't ask questions without feeling stupid?
I don't do that on my www.CorvetteC3.com forum that I founded and run, that has been around longer than this one at 10 years. We start off new member telling them that there is no such thing as a stupid question and if it has been asked before, so what... ask away, the members here are friendly.
I've been here over a month now and getting tired of seeing this kind of attitude telling people to use search instead of answering the question or leaving a link. If that is the case, we really don't need a forum do we?

About the only time I will actually tell someone to go search is when they ask the same question on multiple threads in the same forum, just because the threads happen to be related. To me, such behavior is childish.
So, I have done it myself. I'm not proud of it, but at the same time cannot change my frame of mind. I simply don't have patience for stupidity, and spamming the message boards simply because people aren't helping out as fast as the poster might want is stupid.

I bricked my phone last week yet I didn't make a thread asking what to do. I searched and searched til I exhausted all the solutions. I had dozens of threads to go through, you have a few at most. mine was a much more urgent matter than yours, but I knew it was covered over and over.
Maybe its cause I used to get flamed for not searching when I was younger but now when people do that I just see laziness and a "I'm too good to search" attitude.
Not saying thats whats happening, though I dont know you so I cant say.

Yes I did a search and couldn't find what I was looking for with my particular question.
Searching XDA for "2.2.2 difference" gets you this on the 3 or 4th page.

Since 2.2.2 is a platform specific update and not device specific update, you didn't have to limit your search to just the streak section.

As for the members on my Corvette forum, most of them are between 40-60 and many don't know how to search or are too lazy to, (retires you know).
I'm 58 and a bit lazy sometimes myself.

I understand. My shop teacher used to be a C4 owner and last I saw him had a C5 ZO6. I used to go to shows with him a lot and yeah, most of the guys were old.....guys.
Plus searching for 5-10 minutes usually gets you more answers, quicker than checking in on your post/thread for hours/days anyway.

Actually, both are beneficial, a couple threads/posts were very helpful and searching here and googling found more answers. Combine them all, you get a lot of different views. I like as much info I can get.
The update isn't a true 2.2.2 update. I received/did it a couple of days ago. it's still 2.2, I was told that there must be some a typo or some such on the web page, but my phone still shows 2.2. FWIW the battery seems to last a bit longer, but the 3G reception doesn't seem quite as strong. YMMV
