Can anyone give me a quick tutorial on how to set titanium backup up on my atrix, i had it on my cappy, but i just need to know really where the actual files need to be on my sd cards, whether it be on external or internal sd. the way it was set up on my cappy was kinda screwey. i did better just saving the files on my computer once backed up, rather than saving the just to my external sd. im having a hard time explaining exactly what im trying to do, so any input would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!
edit: solution to backup to external sd:
go in to tibu> menu button> preferences> backup folder location> press back button twice> select sdcard-ext> then select the green "create a new folder"
titanium backup has its own site full of info on how to use the app. i would suggest going there and looking for the answers to your questions
As far as where your files need to be I don't really understand that part but if you want to know where the backup goes look like since our device is "unique" lol in calling the internal memory an sd card we can't set it to save to our actual sd cards but you can set it to go to your dropbox.
thats just my 2 cents

Copy and paste the TiBU folder to your external card or computer before flashing. Then after your done, paste the folder back to the Atrix's internal sd card and restore. I only restore user apps and not their data, restoring system apps/settings can cause problems.

When using Root Explorer on my Cap or Atrix or my roommates DInc there are 2 folders for SD Card, one has an "ext" indicating its the external card. The other 'SD Card' is the internal memory.
As soon as I get on a computer, I will thank you all, well except for whoever directed me to tibu website, j/k I've already been there though... I was just looking for real advice from real people. More device specific I guess... But that's all I needed. Thanks guys

You can't restore directly from Dropbox. The Dropbox backup is used to replace the files in your Ti backup folder on the internal SD card if they get wiped. If you lose the SD card backup, you sync with Dropbox in Ti, and it downloads all the apps back to your internal SD card, (the default backup folder).
I backup to both so I am covered all around. Works with the Atrix cos' I've had to use it.

its pretty much JUST like the captivate
/sdcard/titaniumbackup
which is a symlink to
/mnt/sdcard/titaniumbackup
there is no difference in that regard. if you want to save it all to the external SD you need to change the path in TIBU to
/mnt/sdcard-ext/titaniumbackup

Rooted and running bi-winning. My phone has been running fine and now all of a sudden it says I have no memory left and that my internal sd card is full. I don't know how that's possible because I just recently deleted a ton of music off of it.
Is it safe for me to format the internal sd card? I have backed up all my apps with titanium backup so I don't mind erasing all my stuff.
Also, it shows that I only have 353MB of available space on my external sd card? What stuff is safe to delete from there?
Thanks in advance. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I think is fine if you do it from within the phone and not from the PC.
best bet is to copy the contents of your SD to your PC first before you format. Or at least the important ones like pictures/videos, music and the titanium backup folder.
Thanks for your replies. I've already backed up all my media files and the titanium folder. Also the update.zip folder.
If you did all that (including the PC backup) then you should be fine. I had to format my SD yesterday, now the trigger3.3 beta rom is running super clean and fast.

Awesome. I'm going to format and flash a new rom.
What in the heck do you have saved in there taking up all that space? LOL and how do you not know you have it in there? I think someone else has access to your phone and is saving their extra nudies of their girlfriends on your phone dood. FIND THEM!!! haha jk. Seriously tho i dunno what you got goin on but the external shouldn't have anything important on it unless you put it there like maybe nandroids or other backups so delete it all!
I secretly save my backups on my friends and families PC's but never their phones, LOL. Good luck!
Certain apps tend to save data on the phone's internal storage which is named "sdcard". So in order to trick those apps to save data on my external sdcard(sdcard2), would it be okay to rename the "sdcard" to "internal storage" and rename "sdcard2" to "sdcard"?
Would that cause any problems?
I like to keep my apps stored on my phone's storage and keep everything else (music, videos, pictures, browser downloads) on my actual sd card.
do it in windows explorer; i renamed mine and it works well still
Could you explain how you did this. I have tried a couple different ways and i am having no luck renaming my sd card file.
I am sure with custom roms we can swap the mount points if we want.

But that's not renaming the folder itself as the phone sees it, that's just modifying what the computer knows to call it in Explorer when you hook it up.
OP, I tried changing it myself and it wouldn't work. I don't think it's possible until root comes along and we can modify file system data and the like. Sucks, and it's stupid that HTC thought it'd be a good idea to name it SDcard, but we're stuck with it for now

That's the exact case here. Internal storage on the Rezound is "SDCARD" and the acutal SD Card is "SDCARD2" or "ext_sd" - those two folders are mirrors of each other.
Hi all. I want to format my SD card since I am going to move on to ICS. Are there any folders that I need to save? I already have a titanium backup and I will be saving my pics/video folder.

Save your Temple Run stuff. It's very sad to loose all your achievements.
If you made some backups they should be in clockworkmod folder. Save them too. But Temple Run is much more important, so don't forget it
Switched from iPhone to S4.. Everything is on my SD card.. 16GB total, how do I have 108MB? Is there something I have on my phone that needs to be deleted that isn't showing up?
Look in your file explorer and see if you put pics or music in your device maybe before you stuck the external card in.. You may also have 2 copies, one in each place.
Check out "clean master" app too!

Under device, I see 2 SDs. 0 and extSdCard. I'm assuming 0 is internal since it says (9.52/9.62GB).
So I'm assuming things like TitaniumBackUp files are located there.. Thought they were in my external.. Any way I can move this to external, or is it not possible yet?

You can try moving your current Titanium Backup folder in your internal storage to your sd. I would recommend starting fresh and deleting your current Titanium folder in internal. Then go to your Titanium app, menu button and click on preferences, then scroll down to backup folder location and search for your SD location and create a new folder. All your apps will then save to your SD. Hope that helps.

That freed up about 500MB. Still seems like something is really off. In /storage, there are 3 folders.. sdCard0, extSdCard, and emulated. Seems like emulated is the problem? Has 2 folders within that (legacy and 0) which seems to be copies of sdcard0..

They are copies but they aren't duplicates if that makes any sense. Both are links to the same data.

Ok, gotcha. Do you know of anything else on my phone that's keeping my memory so low? Only about half of it is used and when looking through the phone I don't see anything that could be affecting the memory.. There should be about 7GB freed, not 500MB..

Thanks! Last question: the 16GB S4 actually comes with about 10GB out of the box, 6GB for system files & all, and on top of that, bloatware is about 3.5GB correct? Why is my System data showing 8GB... What the hell is even in there..
EDIT: NVM, lol.. Found out it was my back ups... oops.

You can't scroll to folders. You actually have to type the location. The correct location ins /mnt/extSdCard.
I already have apps on my SD card that I had moved over in the past but any other apps I move now become corrupted and useless. I'm hoping that formating the card will fix this issue. Can I just copy all contents from the card over to my pc then copy them back on after the format? Should everything work correctly? I have 6gigs of spotify music and other big data files. Hope someone answers Thanks!

I'm on lollipop with klte root. Man I messed up. I transfered all the contents from my sd over to my pc to format it and when I switched everything back over the folders came up as all empty. And I can't seem to recreate a folder called .android_secure. My storage info shows that about 9gigs of space are being used on the sd but the folders show nothing. 6gigs were of pure spotify offline music. This is not a good day. Tons of pics were there too.

I have done the same. In MM was concerned that my SD data would be gone. Made the transfer to the PC of everything. After seeing what MM did to my SD, I formatted the SD again and transferred from the PC to the SD and all was fine. If you want that info back and it is still on the PC, then just do the same. In my case after the format, all was as before.
I lost everything on the card. Dammit. I want to just do a complete hard reset of my phone. If I do a backup with kies will I be able to add all my apps and settings back on my phone afterwards with a recovery of the backup?

I recommend using Kies and Another Backup Solution as I've had problems with Kies backups in the past, causing me to lose saved texts, contacts, memos, settings, etc.
I personally recommend using Helium backup from ClockworkMod, a quick search through google play should get it for ya.
Happy resetting! :3
EDIT: Just realized this thread is old... you've probably already reset the phone. Sorry I didn't pay attention to the date stamp..
It's almost scary that you would have responded to this thread right now. I am going through the exact same mess again. I tried applying a fix to make the external card detectable by other apps which were not detecting it. Well after doing that none of my apps or data on the card show up or work. The files are there if I explore root folder though. How do I regain the pathway to the card? Through my USB on pc it does not show the external but it does if I use sd card reader with the sd card by itself. Last time I copied everything from the card to my pc then formatted. It all became a senseless mess when I tried returning everything to the card. Lost everything. I tried backing up with kies before but it did not give option to backup sd card. Please help is an understatement. I just checked the sd card for errors using Windows tools but no errors popped up.

The reason for this occurrence (as well as how to fix it) depend on how the fix was applied.
Please describe the nature of the fix as specifically as you can. Things like where you found it, what it does, how you installed it, as well as if this is the same SD card, will help the most.
Edit: if you could also include the file system that's on the card that would be great too.
Thank you for responding. I'm not sure what the file system on the card would be but I've attached a screenshot of what I did. The name of the app is there.

Well I found the app in question in the play store, and was unable to track down exactly what it does, so we can't get anything out of that.
To get the file system that's on the card all you have to do is put it in a Windows PC and look at the drive properties.
At this point the best thing to do would be to back up everything on the card to a computer.
