I tried posting this questions, but as it's my first it won't allow me to post in that section. So my apologies in advance.
I cannot turn the phone off completely, if I try to turn the phone off through QuickBoot, or though the native power/lock button and select Power Off, it still reboots. Also, if I plug into a wall jack and turn the phone off for faster charging, it goes into the recovery screen with options for installing a new ROM etcetera.
How do I uninstall Tenwar's CWM? Or is there something else I can do to get the phone to turn off entirely?
Thanks in advance guys.

When going into Recovery mode there is no option for Charge Mode. Here are the options available (version 2.5.1.8)
-Reboot System Now
-Apply SDCARD :update.zip
-Apply SDINTERNAL :update.zip
-Wipe DATA/Factory reset
-Wipe Cache partition
-Install zip from SDCARD
-Backup & restore
-Mounts & Storage
-Advanced - (no option for charge mode in this sub menu)
-++++++Go Back++++++
Please let me know where I can find this, and thanks again.
get into the phone. Make sure you have a home screen with your widgets/apps/shortcuts, whatever. Go to the app drawer, choose the app that says "System Recovery". Once inside the app, click "Charge Mode". The phone may restart. Problem solved.

There is no icon that ready "System Recovery" in the app drawer or in Settings > Manage Apps.
As someone rather new to Adroid and GingerBlur, is there anywhere else I should be looking? I have Titanium Backup and QuickBoot if that matters at all. I don't know if those affect the System Recovery at all.
if you have cwm installed you have that icon in the app drawer. If you uninstalled it, reinstall it.
Will do. Thanks!

So I rooted my phone and was thinking I would flash to CM7. I decided to backup using Titanium Backup. I decided, stupidly, to "move to SD card" all my apps that aren't system apps. Now my phone keeps booting up, scanning for media and then rebooting constantly. What should I do?
Thanks for any help!!!

boot into recovery (phone off, hold vol up vol down and power until galaxy screen comes on, then release power until recovery comes up), wipe data/factory reset, and then flash whatever you want from there. you will have to re-install your apps (either fresh from the market or with titanium again, if you still have them on your phone).

Well that works, I'm in CWM but now when I try to click the wipe data/factory reset (using the power button right) it just highlights the background icon and everything else disappears.
Nevermind, home button is the correct way to do it. Thanks for the help!

that happened to me the other day. I kept rebooting then I after the 5th i was able to stay on the phone long enough to move all the apps back to the phone
I might not have got enough sleep last night, so please excuse me if I missed this out right in the how to.. but I was up to 5 am last night putting Preware on my HP Touchpad and CM 2.1. The installing of Apps and playing in both ensued into the wee hours..
In my excitment I woke the wife.. and not thinking straight I thought I could get to the CWM via the same method as I used to building it. I pressed Vol Up and Power and it went back to USB bootie mode, and I couldnt get it out of that mode.. eventually I just reran the Acme installer. thewife went back to bed unimpressed.
So here is my question, I know how to boot from CM how via reboot into recovery mode, and then I can choose to boot to WebOS or CM. But from WebOS, how do I boot into Android? Or how do boot back into the Clock work menu so I can choose again ?
Thanks,
SorrowsTyr
.
There is an application in Preware called Cyboot that allows for what you want.
Or
You can install the patch that adds new buttons to the drop down power menu
Or
You can go to "Device Info" > "Reset Options" > Reboot
Yes! That us exactly what I want. Installed cyboot and Adv. Reset Options.
Thanjs!

sorry for hijacking the thread,
but if i am stuck on the white usb screen, how do i get out of it?
Like for my phone, if i am in download mode i just take out the battery and restart my phone...but i dont we can remove battery in the Touchpad....
If you followed the instructions in the Dev section you should have installed Moboot, which give you the option to choose your OS when booting/rebooting.

Hold down power and home for about 30 sec.
I used the newest droid razr utility to root my phone. This was successful. I then from the bat file after the rooting was completed installed the safestrap.apk and then the overclock install. These were successful although i didn't test the overclocking out.
I then installed safestrap from within the app on the phone (presumably flashing the recovery). I then realized that I didn't really need the safestrap and then used it's uninstall feature. I then opened the razr utility again to install the razr bootstrap. It successfully moved to the phone and rebooted normally. I then installed it from the app on the phone and used after that used the option to reboot into recovery from the app.
The last thing I wanted to do was to modify the webtop app so I could use it without the dock. So using the file I found here. I then went into recovery (which worked) then I cleared the dalvik cache and regular cache then tried to flash the file. I moved the file to the root of the internal storage however when I went to try to find the file I ended starting in the external storage (recovery was looking in the external card by default). Then I went pointed recovery to the internal storage and choose "install from sd card". Which leads me to where I am now.
I am now stuck on the recovery screen. The flash never seemed to happen and I can't use any of the options on the recovery screen. everytime I hit the power button now the recovery options disappear without anything happening. The background of the box with the little android next to it stays but everything else goes away. I can still navigate the options with the vol up and down arrows but i can't seem to do anything. Also the computer no longer detects if the phone is plugged in. I did not have the ADK installed on the computer this was done from. My next step is to use my netbook which does.
The droid razr utility version I used was 1.42 which I got from this thread
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have attached the phone to my netbook with the ADK installed. The phone is not detected by the computer and "adb devices" does not list the phone being present.
I'm kind of thinking I'm screwed.
edit: Issue resolved. I'm apparently a moron. when I was pressing the button for the option "install zip from sdcard" my hand was in a weird shape and I must have hit more than one button at the same time. I guess I accidently disabled the back button (the power button). I also accidently re-enabled it somehow playing with it in frustration. The phone works fine now. If the mods wish to delete this thread they may do so.

Scrolling completely through the options 3 times disables the back button. To re-enable just scroll through the options again. You apparently disabled the back button unintentionally and through your "frustration" re-enabled it.
Hey Guys,
Is there a way to shut the phone down straight from the recovery? I know you can reboot from the recovery into the OS, but that gives me second partition Link2SD problems, which results in various settings such as all my account and sync settings being reset, which is a pain to set up. Is it possible to press and hold the power button on the recovery main menu after you have completed all your operations so that it shuts the phone down without rebooting? Or is this harmful to the phone? What about a battery pull at the main menu so that is shuts down after you complete all your operations? Thanks in advance.

If you are using TWRP v.2.6.3.0 (touch) then under the main menu; you will find "Reboot" choose it, this will open the "Reboot Menu" there is a choice "Power Off":good:

If you have a removable battery, you can always yank it out. Just make sure that Recovery has finished whatever it was doing...or bad bad things can happen.
Thanks guys. I am using clockworkmod on my LG optimus 2X so I will be able to give the battery pull a try. Unfortunately clockworkmod does not have the power menu.

I searched the forums, looked like everyone who had this problem rooted their phones and installed custom roms, however i did not tamper with the phone in anyway, no rooting or custom rom, just nothing, this is the 3rd time in 6 weeks i get stuck in an infinite restart loop, i did two factory resets and i can't just do another one, i'm sick of this! there has to be a way to stop this, please help!
so far i have tried:
1-installing an antivirus and scanning (nothing found)
2-restarting in safe mode, the phone continued to restart in safe mode
3-uninstalled new apps that i installed recently
there has to be a way!!
Just found out that Facebook app is doing the trouble, whenever i load it the phone restarts, so i decided to uninstall it, i tried going in settings > apps, once i open there before reaching facebook the phone would restart, i can do whatever i want with the phone but i cant go to settings > apps, then i tried uninstalling it by pressing and holding the app icon and i was given the option to uninstall and i did, it starts to uninstall, then the phone restarts!
After that i went into safe mood, and the same thing happened, on both methods i can't uninstall it!
what the hell is this problem?? i looked everywhere and no one has it!
Anyone ??????????????
And now when i'm receiving media on whatsapp it's restarting!!
Maybe you're having permission issues, do you have cwm?
if yes go to your recovery mode and click on advanced>fix permissions.
try that but if it doesn't work than I can help you any further
And now it's in an infinite bootloop again, restarting, 2 seconds in the main screen and then restarts again, then all over and over and over and over and over again!

Here is a explanation for Download mode
Always clean the dalvik cache
I have the same problem before. The best way to avoid bootloop is to clean the dalvik cache every time you install a new rom. If your using CWM recovery, you can find that option in advanced tab. Unfortunately if you have stock recovery , just try to format to factory reset then reboot , as soon as you successfully booted, install CMW such that you have the option to clean the dalvik cache in the recovery for your future rom installation.
