Hi. I don't know if this happened to anybody else.
Every single time I flash something with RSD to my Atrix (make it the stock firmware SBF or a radio SBF) it happens that even though I have my USB mode in None after a few seconds of being connected it turns back to Moto Phone Portal. I turn it to None and it turns back again to Portal Mode.
Any clues?
Im getting the exact same thing
Same thing here, really annoying. I can't flash 1.8.3 because of this. Anybody have any ideas?
figured it out...just install the motorola software/drivers on your PC (all of them), reboot, and reinstall. Mine works fine now. Must be some weird driver glitch.
false alarm...it went back to Moto phone portal....wtf, this is so annoying.
Its REALLY annoying. Basically it fixes itself after several hours of doing nothing. Tried switching USB port, cable, reinstalling driver, nothing. Sometimes it just rebooted in the middle of switching USB modes - that is even more annoying.
I am really looking fwd for a bootloader unlock to be able to backup and restore a full image will be a blessing for this devices.

Hey,
I've had my Unlocked HTC Hero for nearly five months now with out any problems (official ROM only). Suddenly I'm having problems with the USB connection. When I plug in the USB cable I don't get any notification on the phone - at all. I don't get the option to select HTC Sync or to mount the SD card for transferring files.
Any ideas? I'd be happy to reflash, but don't have the USB connectivity!
thanks
Ugh - Just did a hard reset which wiped all the data, but did not bring back my usb connectivity. I've also tried multiple USB cables and several computers.
Hmm....
Now, I've got it to connect a couple of times. Using either a hard reset or flash the rom, then download some apps, and then the USB is recognized (but only once).
Might be worth trying a different cable if you can?
Adam
I really don't get this. Every now and then (like 1 in 50 tries) I get the notification to pop up, but most of the time it doesn't. Any one with any ideas?
Same problem here
Hello,
I have the same problem, it started happening after the Android 2.1.-update. Suddenly nothing works, i suspect is an OS problem. If you have any solution please get back on this thread. Cheers!
Did you look at the dates on this? He clearly wasn't using the 2.1 update as it was all the way back in February. I suspect you've broken the connection somehow, either the connection in your phone or in the cable.
Trust me I've searched the problem, many people have reported this in 2.1-update 1. I've tried with several computers both Windows and OS X, different cables ... etc.
i got this problem to! i cant do anything because i cant connect to my computer
I have the same problem, did you find a solution?
i was rooting to get the gingerbread 2.3 rom but forgot to disable the voodoo thing. and now its just frozen blinking on the startup Vibrant Samsung screen! im trying to use Odin to flash it but my computer doesnt seem to be reading it, i held down the volume buttons and its now in the downloading screen but nothing is happening. someone please help me!!!
Try placing all the files on odin before you hook up the vibrant to the computer in download mode. It should work.
Also you are not bricked if you can get into download mode.
i cant do anything on the odin, the phone doesnt connect. its like my computer isnt reading it at all. the odin is clear from anything, its blank. all the screen does when it says downloading is just stay on that screen on the phone. =(

What I might try to do first is take a step back into familiar territory. First listen for the familiar connection sound just by having your phone on. Do a checklist. Do you have the correct samsung drivers so your computer will recognize your phone in the first place? If you do, then try opening odin, putting your phone into download mode, and seeing if you get that familiar connection sound. Sometimes, you just need to unplug the phone and plug it back in. Once you see the yellow com port light up with a number, you should be good to go. If none of that seems to work, no matter how hard you try, try little variations like taking your sim and sd card out, and just putting the battery in, etc. Sometimes is the dumbest things that work, and sometimes you don't even realize you're skipping a step. I do it all the time. If you can get odin to recognize the yellow com #, you should be in business. At that point you would just need to flash the stock rom.
You might be having the issue because Axura and Bionix roms don't play nicely together, especially if you go from the former to the later. You'll run into gremlins like your market issue. You can always try a factory reset for kicks and see if maybe it's something that simple without having to go through all of this. Good luck!
ok i just tried all that, NOTHING works! i know the sound it makes when u connect to the pc but it did nothing. when i hold the power button and the volume it shows a battery that looks drained. i left it to charge for about an hour and still shows the grey battery across the screen. what kind of samsung drivers do i need i already tried downloading a couple but they just lead to some computer scan crap and wana charge me. im kinda new to this so i need as much help as i can get. thanks.
Hi, everyone. I've seen the other threads and no one had a problem quite like mine.
Yesterday I've upgraded my Alcatel OT-997, ICS 4.0.4. with Kuano's TWRP and now it's:
Alcatel OT-997D, JB 4.1.1. - (details in this thread, 5th post) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1981692&page=89
D means I can now use two SIM cards, which is cool.
The problem is the damn thing doesn't charge when it's turned on. It shows the lightning bolt over the battery icon, but in settings shows that charger is not connected. However, when it's turned off it charges, normally. I tried different settings in USB menu: Mass storage, MTP, Camera mode and Charge. Tried with and without Debugging mode. All of those work when connected to a computer in the sense that I can use internal storage, access both SD cards, and so on. But it doesn't charge.
I have tried 3 different cables, 3 wall outlets, and 2 PCs so it's not that. I suppose it's not a hardware problem otherwise it wouldn't charge properly when it's turned off.
So now I use schedule to turn it off before I go to sleep, and to turn on before I wake up, so it would charge while I'm sleeping. Anyone's got any ideas how to fix it?
Bump
Well I solved it with reinstall
Finally I've lost my patience so I tried the only thing that was left.
First I did a backup with TWRP.
Then, factory reset from TWRP.
Then, restore system from One Touch Upgrade 2.8.0 - lost the DUAL capability, software restored to 4.0.4.
Now comes the interesting part. It had the same problem as before, did not charge while on. So I tried a solution I found online a while ago but I never tried when on 4.1.1: Turn it off, connect charger, remove battery, wait a bit, press power button for approx 10 sec (nothing hapens), wait a bit, instert battery, turn it on and there it is. I'm not sure if it was this procedure that did the trick or it simply needed a reboot after update but it worked. It showed "charging" in battery stats.
Finally, restore with TWRP as Kuano explained in his post. Mind you, when I did the restore it was connected to my PC all the time.
Now two things I you should know:
First, before I did all this I connected it to my PC while turned off i.e. (PC - ON, phone - OFF). I noticed this: it was constantly connecting and disconnecting (the "piano chord" notification was coming from the computer speakers every 5 sec) like I was pulling the cable in and out. That is all I know about this, I didn't have the nerves to work on it.
Second, now that it is restored and charging, when I connected it to PC it couldn't change USB setting from Charge to MTP. It reported an error something like "service stopped". This happened only once and I did not try to do it again, I just don't have the energy for any more problem fixing right now. It charges, and I use airdroid for file transfer, that is all I need for now. If and when I get around to take a look at it I'll post here if there's something interesting.
I've had a bricked phone before but nothing like this.
GPE edition w/CM nightly installed for 5 days with full wipe.
Running beautifully. Was listening to music on Amp. Music stopped.
Couldnt turn phone on.
Couldn't go to revovery (Twrp) via buttons. Couldn't get to fastboot on computer. No lights no responses.. nothing.
B R I C K.
All I can think of is malware via Chrome dev? All Chrome apps had been acting up. Had to wipe data and download data to get them working again. Another behaviour is at times when switching apps the phone would switch very briefly to the sony bootup icon then go to the app. Wierd.
Sincerely wierded out by it and bummed.

Yeah, that's nothing new and is just a glitch, so that alone doesn't mean anything. The fact that your phone just stopped working is weird though, and I can't think of anything that would do something like this, and you couldn't have been infected with anything unless you've installed an infected APK from a third-party.
You can't enter fastboot? Hold down VOL UP while you connect your Ultra to your computer using the USB cable. Be aware that you must have Fastboot installed on your computer.
Yeah, no response whatsoever trying to get to fastbboot.
The random bricks have been around
I got my Xiaomi Redmi 3 in the middle of october 2016. Since then i've been using it every day. It had minor problems, like music app sometimes turns off by itself, data connection didn't want to turn on only with phone restart, but nothing major, that couldn't be temporarily fixed. But a few days ago i just wanted to browse instagram, i opened the app, and it just turned off instantly. So i tried reinstalling it. Nothing changed. I then tried to install an older version of the app. Still no change. So i decided to leave it be. I was talking to my father, that it should be reflashed because there is something wrong with it. He just pressed regular restart on it, but after that the phone died. I mean it died. It does not respond to charging, connecting to usb, pressing any existing combination of the three buttons. The screen and the status LED does not light up even for a bit. I tried to reflash it anyway with methods specifically for this situation, but it doesn't work either. In the flash tool installation of the rom just does not start. I think it's because my pc does not accept the driver, even from the official website, it just says in the device manager, that it's Android and it has that little yellow triangle. So it is visible for my PC through USB but no driver is accepted. What should i do?
Replace to new phone or carry your phone to customer service, but hey it's xiaomi
This wont help with your phone, but just wanted to leave a note for others. I was having the same issue with the Instagram app. I reinstalled the app, wiped caches, upgraded my ROM, downgraded the app, every tried a entriely differnet ROM. Nothign worked. Instagram would just crash a few seconds after opening. Really weird.
Heres how i fixed it: go to Airplane mode, open the app, logout, turn off airplane mode, log back in.
rarely fc it's okay. but when got often it's a major issue. might be emmc needs to be fixed
