How do I perform a screen capture with the community rom? Previously I always held down the back button and pressed the power button. I'm sure there is a way to do it, but I can't get it to do it that way in the community rom.
Edit: saw I searched and asked for the answer in the wrong forum.
Adrynalyne has been awesome and linked a .zip of the screen capture service!

I downloaded and installed through recovery. Works great!

Hello all,
Loving my Atrix on Bell so far. Coming from a BB, it's a change for the better. Yes I managed to leave bbm and the tactile keyboard.
When I take a photo, is there a way to reduce the resolution to <100kb for upload to social networking sites / email / mms ?
Thanks for replying,
wrong section should be and will be moved to Q&A
To answer your question,
open the camera, while open press the menu button (the white 4 square botton on the bottom left of your screen), select settings and change the 'Picture Resolution' to Very Small; I was only able to get down to 250K, so you may still need to edit the picture with Adobe Photshop Express (available in market) to crop the picture to make it that small.
Moved to proper forum as not android development
You can manually change this in the settings within the camera application.
However if you want to take tlgrwat pictures and are worrying about them just being too large in general, the phone will automatically resize the picture so you can ssend it as a mms

Thanks guy its gre8
how can i get these images from phone? where are they in the system?
Would also like to know how to add images to the wallpaper gallery.
Ever since installing ICS it now only lets me crop my damn images resulting in part of the image, seeing as I can only expand the orange square so far
Tried it with both the old & new galleries as well, guessing its an ICS issue as it happens on my tablet too (also on ICS)
If it doesn't expand to the full size, it means the downloaded picture is larger than 960x800 which is the scrollable resolution. Try opening the file in Paint or Photoshop and adjusting the resolution.

If downloaded from a browser, they should be in App drawer > My files > Download. Otherwise if you're using a wallpaper app, check it's corresponding folder in My Files. Hope that helps.

I seem to be missing the stock photo editor icon and the ability to use it. On my phone I cannot locate the icon. However, when I go into setting, applications, manage applications, all, the icon is there. When I click on it, it is basically blacked out from me doing anything. See photo. I am rooted on stock ROM, but it was never there for my use. Any idea what is up? If for some reason I cannot use the application, can I re-install it? Is there a better application you recommend for simple photo editing?
when you select a photo in the gallery then select more and select edit you will then be using photo editor, for some reason it's not in the app drawer though.
On my Galaxy S2 it was in the application drawer. Just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something.

Missing apps?
I was editing a photo, then had to look at something else on the phone and moved from the editor display. It doesn't show holding home as last used app.
Can you continue editing/reedit a photo once saved?
Also it seems we are missing the video editor. I looked at a few video reviews, it seem the international note has these icons in the app drawer, but we don't..

I just figured out today that the att version does not have all of this great software we have been led to believe it does. I still love the phone but I'm a little pissed about it and I am looking for ways to strike back.
When you've on a photo, click menu> share>photo editor.
Took me a while to figure it out. Sometimes it doesn't show when you're looking at a photo from the gallery, but when you click the view finder from the camera, it works all the time.

If you saved it, then it created a copy of the edited photo on your SD Card and you can get to it through the Gallery. It would have created a folder called PhotoEditor or Edited or something.

Thanks, I knew about that one. But what if I haven't saved yet and it's still being edited but I hit the home button or answered a call during the edit? How do I get back to the current picture?
What I did was snap the same picture again to edit, it then took me back to the one I was editing, saved it and replaced it with the new snap. But I couldn't normally get back to the app and I could not continue editing the one I was already working on... lol... sigh
You know you hold home key and it lists the last apps, multi task to switch back? It doesn't show photo editor, but you can go into the task manager and it shows it's running, but you can't click/touch to bring it up.
Gotcha...I have no idea then. Sorry I can't help you more.

Hello, I am trying to make an android live wallpaper for Xperia P.
The resolution for the screen is 540x960.
1) I exported the animation as .mp4 and it came out around 4mb. Is there a way to create an .apk using this mp4 file that will work as live wallpaper and if yes how?
2) Do I have to multiply the width if I want to fit more than one screens? So for three, would it be 540 x 3?
3) Can I just repeat the main live wallpaper(540x960) instead of multiplying the width so that the same animation appears on all screens?
Thanks in advance :good:
Anyone that has created a live wallpaper before willing to help?
For that you will have to decode the video yourself so that it can be drawn on canvas if you can do it then it can be done its difficult I know but that is the only way

So I found this tool to create the live wallpaper using a video file: http://www.lwpcreator.com/
The tool was made using code from another tool an xda member made.
But I encounter one issue, the animation skips always on the same frames so it's not smooth. The video format I used is .avi I tried few of them .mp4 was even worse.
Any idea why would that happen or how to fix it?
It's the tool's fault afterall it's not easy to generalize a code so that it can be used in different forms that's why coding is preferred over tools if it were this way anyone could build a graphic vedio and use it as live wallpaper and have it published
Bad luck my friend try contacting the developer of the tool he might know the answer

I hear there is a live wallpaper tutorial on the SDK? Can I use that and explore it so I can get an idea? I suppose it doesn't use video and draws it on canvas, the animations are coded but I could give it a try.
If you know which SDK/tools I have to download from the manager let me know.
EDIT: Nvm I found it. If you have knowledge about drawing a video on the canvas and you can help me out, let me know.

Send me your file I will make it for you. Takes about 5min
Also send me the raw mp4 or m4a or what ever video format it is. I will just use that. i have got one here as a template with a video decoder already built into it. Its nothing fancy. It plays in a loop and you can pick the frame rate.

HELP?
Hey guys, i have the same problem
I am quite good at animating and GFX, and i have tested my videos as wallpapers with the video live wallpaper app. But i was wondering, how can i create an actual APK out of this, so i can show it to some friends of mine, and why not publish it in google play? Any tutorial i have seen has been useless, all i want is a tutorial where i will only have to write down some code, load the video file, and then to convert it all in a .apk file?

ratio
Works fine on CM12. Only issue i see is preview image ratio, it looks squeezed from top and bottom.
GT-I9505 (jfltexx latest nightly), i have changed lcd dencity from stock 480 to 420.
Thanks a lot for making this application! Made it very easy for me to change my lockscreen wallpaper in my device running CM12.1.

Review
You asked for a review, so here you go.
Question:
First, it seems you have fixed something that I have yet to figure out. You can place photos into the lockscreen that I can't. Since I can open the picture from the directory once it is placed there just fine, this issue has something to do with which pictures the system will use and which it won't. Are you doing any kind of editing to the picture other than just copying it to the proper location? After some tests, it looks like there is a file size limitation. How big of a file does the system accept and what API do you use to reduce the image? I'm just using the raw picture with no editing of any kind. I think it should be up to the user to edit using whatever they see fit, but I wasn't aware of a maximum filesize limitation in the OS (I'm running Temasek).
Review:
The Google Billing permission almost made me delete it without installing it. Something that simple shouldn't ask for money. Save that for your next program. You will only scare people away like that! Next, I find being forced to use Google Photos for this to be really annoying. I hate Google Photos, and it crashes on my device just as often as not, but that isn't the point. Its the whole design of the interface.
Here is a scenario ...
Lets say I'm browsing the web, say DeviantART, and I see a picture I want to put on my lockscreen. How many steps does this take?
Hold finger on Image
Click Save Image to Download to SD Card
Press Home Button
Click App Drawer
Find your APP and click it
Click Select Image
Find Picture in Google Photos
Click Apply
My solution ... (using hooks into Open file and Share system dialogs).
Hold finger on image
Tap icon next to share button
This assumes the last share was via my "Show On Lockscreen" APK, if not, you tap the share icon next to the list and tap "Show On Lockscreen" (1 more step). The point is that you don't need to leave the app, load a new one, and try to manually download files and then find them (even though I know where it downloaded to, Google Photos doesn't give me a file system view and you don't let me use any other method such as using my file manager). With my way, I don't have to find anything or look for anything. It doesn't touch the SD Card, it goes from the web directly to the lockscreen file.
So ... your app obviously works, otherwise you wouldn't have posted it, but I just hate the interface. Want to make a deal? Show me the code you use to reduce the image size so that the lockscreen will pick it up, and I'll give you the Intent code that lets you hook into the Open and Share dialogs so you can bring up your interface after the user selects an image. I have some other code you can use to let the user decide what app to use to choose an image (even the camera) so that if they load your app directly (instead of from an Open Image With ... or Share Image ... dialog outside your program), they won't need to be restricted to Google Photos. They can choose how to select the file. And with that, we both get what we want and everyone wins.
Very cool!
