Recently I had issues were my APNs were cleared out after flashing a ROM. So I thought I would re flash a stock sbf and backup my APN list with APN Manager and share them. This came from a US AT&T Atrix running the latest OTA sbf.
NOTE: I take no responsibility for any damage this may cause. This is a fresh backup from a fresh flash of this sbf http://goo.gl/hfkXH so everything should work fine.
Instructions:
Install APN Manager from the market
http://goo.gl/v8JWn
Unzip the attachment to your INTERNAL SD Card keeping it in a folder named "APNManager" ie: "internal sd card root/APNManager/ApnBackup.xml"
Use APN Manager to restore APN list

This really should be stickied, as I just spent the last hour trying to find a list of default APN's. Thanks.

It is automatic, easy, and reliable. Thank you for making my problem disappear!
Edit: perhaps missing AT&T HSPA+:
Found this @ http://forum.androidcentral.com/970730-post1.html
"FIX:
Under you Access Point Settings create a new APN.
Menu Key, New APN.
Name : AT&T HSPA+
Important step: tap APN and enter exactly : phone
That's it! It's literally just "phone", not kidding. Leave everything else blank including Username and Password!
Scroll down to APN Type, Select Internet only
Hit the Menu Key, and hit SAVE
Your will return to APN settings, go to the APN you just created called AT&T HSPA+, tap the dot next to the APN and make sure it turns green! "
thank you! this is exactly what i want.. i had to go back and wipe my phone and it erased my apn. you guys rock!!
Thanks! Works great! (ATT)
Saved me. THANKS!!!
Looking App manager
I bought App Manager Pro, but every time I attempt to do anything with it, it shuts down. I need to know of another app that will do the same thing, or find how the rest of these guys get it to work.

Hey guys, could not really find what I was looking for
After you are running a rom, and obviously need to get mms working, what is the proper steps to running a apn fix? I see in the aloysius post someone posted the apn from Ivans, and was curious how to run it on the rom already in progress?
Thanks
There's a program called "apn backup and restore" that will let you restore the correct apn file.
Just download the apn file from that thread to your sd card, install that app, and restore the correct file.

This update was intended for my ZenEXP-Eris build, but it should work on most, if not all ROMs here as well.
Do a nandroid backup before installing in case it doesn't work, then flash through recovery: LINK
thanks guys..works great!
I have been using this app for a while now and never had an issue restoring after a restore. I am using the Fresh 2.1.1 Rom and flashed Ivan's 1.0 Rom and sucessfuly backed up the apn when I restored and try to restore the Apn I keept getting an error code 8 can't write to a read only database. I haven't done anything different from the norm. Anyone have an idea or know who I should be contacting?

Are you not able to send or receive mms messages? I am also running fresh 2.1.1 and I thought I could send/receive them.
I can send but I don't get them Either I was trying to do the APN flash to fix it. Our Rom isn't verizon based so the network acts funny on text messages. The work around was to flash Ivan's rom after you make a nandroid backup of your Fresh Rom install then dl APN Backup & Restore and then back up the APN of Ivan's rom to the SD card. And then restore the Fresh 2.1.1 and dl the APN app again but restore the .xml from the SD card to fix the mode of connection to start recieving mms/sms and voicemail alerts. If you hadn't changed the prl if it would help you this is the time to do it,Download the Alltel_Verizon Hybrid.prl file, enter ##778 in the dialer hold call for a few seconds let go then choose edit mode and for password 6 zeros. Select prl, then update prl, the keyboard shows up first but just hit the back button onec and you will see the prl you downloaded to the root of the SD card and then choose and say ok, then hit menu and commit changes. After a short bit a message stating the phone needs to reboot and vola! you have add your phone to the extra Alltel towers in your area. AFTER DOING THIS DO NOT *228 and let the automated PRL service run, this will remove the Alltel Hybrid PRL and you will have to redo the Ivan flash method. Most roms are not developed with the epsk.apk(think thats the name) which is invoked with the ##778 send. This is optional because for some it is a hit or miss of a fix. For some it clears up areas that they may have not gotten signal and reduces it in already covered areas.
Realize this is a long answer to your simple question but just wanted to clear up for others that may not know.

So, I am running the latest version of the Evil Eris rom and I am having issues downloading MMS pictures. I keep getting that download error or what not. I did the step listed here(twice), but that did not work for me. Is there anything else I could possibly do fix this issue?
Have you tried using "APN Backup & Restore"? You would:
1. Load a ROM where MMS works.
2. Download and install "APN Backup & Restore"
3. Use the app to perform an APN backup.
4. Reload the ROM you want to get MMS working on.
5. Download and install "APN Backup & Restore"
6. Use the app to delete the APNs on that ROM.
7. Use the app to restore the APN backup made in step #3
8. Reboot.
I haven't personally done this and so I can't vouch for it's effectiveness, but I have seen that a number of folks have done this to successfully rectify MMS issues.
I dunno that seem like a bit of a chore to do, I was hoping for something a bit more simplified.

Use xtrSense 4.0.6.1.
Just as many sweet features as EvilEris, more stable, and other than pinch-zoom Google Maps and the sweet copy/paste Browser, it's better than EvilEris, IMO.
The rom you are suggestion doesn't have the same cut and paste as the current rom I am using? One thing I like about my current rom is color scheme.

there is a working apn floating around here if u use the search button ,, find that , download apn backup/restore ,, put that apn in the apn folder that is created on ur sd card , open app , delete old apn , restore backup apn ,, done
I clicked "Reset to Default" on the Apn menu and then they all disappered and i cannot connect. There used to be like 5 different apns. Is there a way to retrieve them back, i am no longer able to connect to the data.
Hi, are you using Market Enabler or other app that change operator code? Try disabling it, restart the phone and then try to reset.

If you can get wifi, go to the market and download apn backup and restore. It comes with a whole bunch of apn's and should be able to restore the ones you're missing. If you have an sd card, you have to copy the apnbackuprestore folder to the internal phone memory, or else it wont see the backup..

Strange, when i installed apn back up and restore it came with an .xml file that had 900+ apns.. I can try to post it, but just take a look in your apnbackuprestore folder, if you have an sd card, copy that folder to the internal phone memory..
Unzip the file first, then place in your apnbackuprestore folder.
you would have your apn's back by now if you have typed them in. how lazy can you be? Also, most pseudo roms and scripts install them.

No need to flame this post... Apns can be kind of tricky, especially if you make one little error.. Then nothing works. I don't blame him for wanting a simpler way of restoring the apn, after typing in the information by hand 20+ times, I found a much easier way of doing it.
Ok i got connect again, thanks to you guys. I am currently connected "AT&T US HSDPA", is it any different then just the "AT&T" apn? Also I used to get a H+ logo, but now i only get H (I am on gingerblur), it because of the settings or just do not have 4g right now?

ok, no need to get sarcastic. I was just wondering if the file was in the original download able ZIP.
Go to settings, wireless, mobile networks, APN settings, reset to default.
The reason to delete that file is because you cannot edit the stock settings, but you can remove them all.
I also noticed that the instructions did not mention you need to recreate the APNs after deleting the file.
On a side note my MMS eventually stopped working again. I think I will give h8rift's a shot or go back to UnNamed.

I have a US AT&T GSII and unfortunately they don't allow the access to the Network Operator Selection menu, so I'm told if I replace a file and restore it'll get the menu access back for me.
Can anyone who is on the STOCK Galaxy S II International version send me a copy of the file apns-conf.xml from the /system/etc directory via PM or post on here?
I think there's a way to extract it from the Stock ROM, but I can't find that on here, and don't know how to extract just that file. If you know where to get that file let me know too.
Thanks As Always!

EDIT: Didn't work for me :-(
Was following GTG's advice to unlock the SGSII ATT version's Carrier Select\Scan Menu:
"Delete the /system/csc folder as well as CSCFiles.txt, CSCVersion.txt, and SW_Configuration.xml in /system. Then get apns-conf.xml from the /system/etc folder of an international ROM and overwrite the one on your phone with it. Finally, factory reset after doing those other three things."
I think he thought I meant for APN population. I meant for manual carrier network selection. IE to be able to manually chose which roaming partner my phone registers to like a true unlocked phone. AT&T's version has the menu greyed out. The ROMs all open the menu up, so it's got to be possible. I don't want to use a ROM just for the sake of that feature. Any advice?

it looks like an international rom will have to be modded. For example, RCMIX android 2.3.5 for the inspire4g has this option to manually select what ever carrier you want. Its an international rom modded for the Inspire. Maybe ask those guys.

Yeah but the INTL vs ATT version aren't cross-compatible, yet the makers of CM7 and MIUI have somehow enabled the manual network selection on the native ATT SGSII roms... urghhhh. hehe

That's because they built the rom from stock android and it was never restricted by a carrier. I believe that some code will have to be rewritten to allow this. Im going to try some things out and see if I can open it. I dont know if I can but it will be fun to try. Well the good news is I think telus is getting the GS2 so and it looks just like ours with lte so you can probably buy one of those and it will have the 4 front buttons with north american 3g.

Don't you mean ""4G***"" haha... sorry I just couldn't resist... but I included the stars, just not the disclaimer that it's fake ""4G***"" haha
Anyhow, yeah any assistance u could be would be hugely appreciated. When the Infuse came out it was the only phone of it's type in the world (I know because they were lined up to buy my old one in Thailand last week, lol), so a lot of the stock de-bloated\de-crapped ROMs that came out had the screen unlocked for manual carrier selection AND were based on the ATT original stock ROMmage.
HEHE, if you can figure anything out to enable my Carrier Selection but keep the stock rooted rom I'll offer a $20 bounty for the first one to make it happen, haha. I know it's not much, but hey, it's 5 trips to Starbucks for something you nerds are already screwing around with anyhow, hehe.

Something is wrong with those instructions, if you modify, erase, or replace files in the system folder then do a factory reset, all the changes you made before the factory reset will be undone by the reset. That's what factory reset does, it resets the system and data partitions.
--- Edit added below to the post ---
I would think it wood be something along the lines of modding, replacing the necessary csc files then reboot the phone.
Or extracting the ROM you would like to use, modding replacing the necessary csc files, the repack the ROM and flash it.

That was my thinking as well, but gtg is fairly good at what he does. I did a backup before and restore after so there was no risk in trying. But I think his process is more to get the APNs populated, not the carrier selection menu.

Oh I'm very confident in gtg, and believe he could do this, but I think there must of been a mis-communication between you two on these instructions.
One thing you could try as you say cm7 has the option working is download a ROM, or the stock ROM entropy posted if you want stock and download cm7 - open the cm7 ROM and pull all the csc files and push/replace those files to ROM you want to run (if the ROM you want to run contains any csc files cm7 doesn't just delete them) - then flash ROM.

CM7 does have the open network search menu, I just like the simplicity of stock.
I'm not really sure how to take the stock rom, add\replace the CSC and needed files, then re-pack it into a ROM. My $20 bounty is still out there if u want to do it for me and unlock my search menu. hehe.

Oops..... I forgot it was unlocked...
If you look in the /system folder there its a file CSCFiles.txt - this file lists all the files that contain csc data and could be a guide on the files you need.
Most of the files are probable the same, and probably the only one you need is the apn config xml gtg told you to try and replace but if you try it and it does not work why not all just replace all of them just to cover the bases.
and I definitely think the cm7 ROM that works on our phone is the place to get what files you need because it obviously works on this phone.
