I ask because the ROMs I see in there are few and older. And my biggest issue is I get an error that says something about, "failed to open recovery.fstab" when I try to use it.
I'm on KangBang 1.2 (love it) and CWM3

The way I understand it is the only recovery we can use now with RM is cwm 3 (orange) which requires edify scripting. The majority of fascinate devs use amend scripting which makes RM pretty much useless to us. But good news, fascinate devs like jt1134, nemesis2all, imnuts etc. are beginning to code using edify compatible scripting. Eventually, I assume more devs will begin to use RM once the entire fascinate community migrates to edify.

That sounds close to what I gathered too but I think KangBang and JT's CM7 are both Edify so I wonder why those aren't in RM.
Any help with my recovery.fstab error is greatly appreciated.

As far as I know, ROM Manager requires you to use the update.zip method to get into CWM, not the method that we use, where we just replace stock recovery entirely. Also, the update.zip that is downloaded from ROM manager has bugs and is missing functionality that prevents it from being fully usable on our phones. Unless Koush decides to fix the bugs and add in the voodoo functionality, I doubt anyone will really load stuff into ROM Manager.
Ya, my understanding is koush and the fascinate community do not have a friendly relationship. In the market at one point he even kind of told fascinate users to go pound salt.

I am new to the Fascinate, coming from the eris on which I ran multiple different roms, I have my Fascinate rooted and I wan to run Kaoscinate, just want to know if there is anything special I need to do for this rom or do I just flash it? Thank you in advance

I know, but I like Kaos' work on the Eris and wasn't planning on flashing unitll his next update just wondering if there was any special flashing method for it. Fascinate seems to be a bit more difficult than the eris is

Removing kaosinate might get a bit tricky though. I had to odin back to di01 and start over. Your mileage may vary of course.

I put this together earlier. Seems to work ok. Fully bloated, but deodexed and zpaligned ED01.
It contains busybox, and has been rooted.
Does not contain recovery, kernel, or radio. Those you must supply. Chances are, EC01 radio works just as well as the ED01 radio.
Ammend only at this time! This means use CWR 2.5.x.

Initial boot good (wiped Davlik and cache, but not data), launched XDA premium 1.1 no problem, let's see how it does with Nitro's Honeycomb theme with the transparent dialer and the themed keyboard ...

Links removed: I just saw that ED01 OTA is being pushed out. I'd wait until someone more knowledgeable comes along or try posting this in one of the ED01 threads that are popping up quickly.
Nitro's honeycomb theme works as well... so far so good...

Can i just flash this rom after wiping cache & dalvik? or do I need to turn off voodoo, etc? Rom doesn't contain kernel, etc so I think I'd be ok?

I only wiped dalvik and cache. Flashed over EC01 rom and radio with voodoo kernel. Not a single problem.
Is there a benefit to the new radio? If not I will just hang tight for the community project.

Here is the Clock Work Recovery Mod 3 with voodoo support from nemesis2all, JT, Koush and Project-voodoo. It only supports edify scripting so be warned most themes etc will not flash. Its time we made the switch guys. We were on eclair for months, lets not hold onto old ways.

Every cwm3 I've used from Nemesis has worked flawlessly...
cwm 2.5 supports edify and amend and has adb.
Please tell me a real reason why we should change other than to be like all the others.
How can I switch to this if usb mass storage doesn't work on CM7 and adb doesn't work on cw3? Is there another way to push files to my phone using cw3 without adb?

No they're not. Haven't personally used an old recovery in forever. People just aren't updating their zips. Nothing wrong with recovery. If adb doesn't work, then tonu must have broken it.

The real reason we switch is so that we can do our part to help the devs make these phones better. That's how this while thing works isn't it? Our it's supposed to anyways. The devs create something new and we test it to perfection and move forward to bigger and better things. It's not always about us taking and taking from the devs. We can do our part to help too. Bad use of words on my part. ADB does work, updated OP. ADB just does not work while you are in clockwork like it did before.
Also to everyone else, I for one like edify better, it makes more sense then the amend garbage. Also the newer clockwork supports gingerbread and this older one does not so it seems. If we ever plan to advance we need to prepare now.

^^This. If this cwm 3 is from jt and company, why didn't one of them post it? Where did it come from? Was this pulled off IRC and posted before jt and company were ready to post it? I'm confused. Please forgive my noobness.

If im understanding the article I just read on 2nd init, its pointless to run this unless you have a rom to install or are building a rom that uses it. This mod doesn't currently do anything for basic users and there is no need to have it currently. This mod is for serious developers only, am I right naven? I mean what's the point of hijacking the init if you have nothing to overwrite the boot process with? This is a very important mod , don't get me wrong and im very thankful for it.

Pretty much. That's why I didn't bother posting a long post about it. If you know how to use this, you can do pretty much anything shy of flashing a kernel or recovery.

Honestly, I think that guy was just a sham, no offense, but I tried to contact him so that I could fork his code and assist in getting Cyanogen, but he never contacted me back, and the code on his github hasn't even been touched for like two months.
So, we have 2nd init, but no one is doing anything with it. Sure wish I knew more about how to move CM7 to our device. I have some free time but no knowledge.
Also, I haven't noticed this 2nd-init being discussed on other forums. Shouldn't you post it in as many places aa possible to gather more interest? Just a thought.

Please don't ever say that no one is doing anything with this. I am. CM7 is what I'm trying to do and with a dedicated version for the x2 (which my current version is a port of the ATRIX), I might be able to do something. The ONLY thing keeping me from continuing with CM7 is the new init script for it. Right now, I'm stuck though until kernel.org is back up and running.
I'm wondering, with 2nd init, would it be possible to boot into tenfars recovery without having to plug your phone in? If so, how hard would it be to implement?

I think we had all got the impression that you were just blowing smoke or had dropped off the face of the planet because no one had been able to contact you regarding your efforts. Please, please, please continue. CM7 is our only ticket to having MIUI on this bad boy some day, and I am eager for that day to come. In the meantime, if there is any way I can help, hit me up. Anyone willing to help can help. I never said no one could. Too many people on here want stuff with no dev'ing from themselves. I have been in contact with a few notable devs that I have helped me, and I will thank them. Now that I have the source back, I have started porting over the new 2nd-init into CM7DX2.

I have the Fascinate and I love it.
But for the last few days I have tried many different roots, all work until I want to go into clockwork. What are the correct steps from step one to loading clockwork and load a rom, preferably miui. I had the og droid and was great at booting and loading rom's but the fascinate is throwing me for a loop.
Soo with that said I would like to make a request for anyone willing to do it, please show/tell me how to do this. I have seen posts on new roms, but not rooting updates and etc.
