Hey,
I am considering getting a T-Bolt or Droid Inc 2 or waiting for the X2 or Bionic. One of my major concerns with the 4G phones is battery life. What are people actually getting for battery life on a T-Bolt with 4G running? I have seen numbers ranging from the VZW advertised down to 2.5 hours.

My suggestion is if your going to be on 4G get the extended battery. I can get a full day with it. Standard battery just won't cut it if I get txt, email, and calls. So if you use it like it is a ferrari like I do you will love the thunderbolt, just not the stock battery. Oh and I have friend stream, twitter, gmail, weather, latitude, and my calender set to sync every hour. 5am to about 10pm with normal use on the extended battery. About 4 to 5 hours on the standard battery.

Seems like that is on par... some people get a full day, others 4 to 5 hours.... I could always just carry a car battery.
Well if you use widgets then the standard battery seems to just get sucked down. Although my wife seems to get a full day out of her standard battery.

Rooting the device and trying other ROMs in conjunction with other Kernals and SetCPU, you can really get more speed AND battery life out of it.
I said I wouldn't root my phone at first.
Lasted a month.
Should've done it first week.
what was the actual slated battery live for the TB from vzw?
its can be long if you kill all hidden not usefull process
What is the battery life if you root?

The official extended battery. Is the one sold in Verizon. Made by HTC.
Im a power hungry person and this battery goes 2 days with background data on!
i tried the official htc/verizon extended battery but it took twice as long to charge it and only lasted about an hour longer then the original. i ended up taking it back for a refund.
and unlike most people who use their phone for calls/txts & will leave it sitting around for long hours, i do not do that. i'm constantly either browsing the web, watching a video, or streaming music. the only time i don't have the phone doing something is when i'm sleeping.
i usually have to charge my phone 2- 3 times a day.
I purchased the official HTC extended battery and it is WELL worth the money! With HEAVY use it will easily get you through a day. With moderate use, 2 days for sure. With light use it might get you 3-4.
I unplugged my phone yesterday morning at about 7:30-8 in the morning and right now and 4:13 p.m. on Wednesday I still have 29%!

There is no way! The extended battery EASSSILLLY lasts twice as long. You must have had a rogue app, widget, or ROM.
I use the 2750 HTC as well and the thing is hard to to drain in a day. You will not be disappointed.

i had it when i had my 1st Thunderbolt, it was stock(never rooted it), no widgets(used launcher pro), already knew about all the battery saving tips & had watchdog on making sure nothing was eating up cpu.
i have not tried an extended on a rooted phone though so perhaps i can give it a go again.

OEM HTC 2750, get a constant 35+ hours out of it.
When do you guys think the RAZR will see any release of Cyanogenmod? I need to know if I should get this phone over the Nexus or not, and I think that right now, that's a big deciding factor.
I really want Vanilla on this phone.
Wrong section, but if you want ICS you had better get a Nexus. This thing doesn't even have a proper recovery yet and we won't even begin to see real ICS ports until the Nexus is released.
Reason being is that even though ICS source was released, developers are still trying to rig 4.0 to work with Gingerbread kernels. Until the Nexus is released and phones begin to get OTA 4.0 updates with working and updated kernels, you will not see a true ICS port.
Obviously that is all going to take some time, at best probably a few weeks to a month after the Nexus drops.
I honestly do enjoy my Razr, but no removable battery, horrible battery life and the lack of ROM options are all clear reasons to swap it for the Nexus when that drops
I have great battery life. I have frozen alot of bloat, gps off, 4g off, background data off(i check stuff manually), unnecessary stuff set to autokill in stock task manager. Phone is used heavy for 9 1/2 hour work day and still typically 55-60% left. Overnight 1% drain per hour on standby(using circle battery widget for reference). Its all in the configuration. Motorola has superior voice quality and minimal dropped calls. IMO of course...

How on earth can you guys be experiencing that great battery life??? I went to a wedding today and the phone lasted from 11am until 7pm (8 hours) and I used the camera/camcorder for 30 minutes total. I had GPS on but Wi-Fi off the entire time. I run stock unrooted software. The battery isn't awful... but not being able to promptly pop in another battery is a FAIL of epic proportion on behalf of Motorola.

Lies. My RAZR lives on the charger and I will be returning it to Verizon pz, can't stand the horrible battery life.
We could as easily call you a liar. Each persons use is different.just because it does not match your results does not make someone a liar.
In my opinion, this Razr battery shows a great deal of how "battery conditioning" can improve your experience.
well my Razr battery works horribly in first 3 days and then it started getting much much better.
Now, a week and 2 days after I bought the phone, I am experience the similar battery life as someone there said.
1% drop per hour on standby in the night. easily got 24 hours of usage even with
10 hours in office on LTE (but not active use because I need to work), generally 1. 30-40 mins call
2. check email/facebook once per hour for 10 hours day time on LTE
3. check email/facebook play with the phone once per half hour at home on wifi with 4G data disabled
4. taking 10+ pictures
5. read kindle book 20 mins each on return trips between home/work
6. watched Google Videos REnted movie for 1 hour
pretty much above is the normal usage for me for a PHONE. (slight more than moderate)
quite impressed by such battery life.

Not lies. I get about ~15hrs with moderate/average use, 7-8 with very heavy and 18-20 with light. The first 3 days it did poorly on battery, but fully letting it cycle down and charge back up so it's conditioned has let it hit its stride. LTE is on and in use all the time and I have 2 Exchange/push accounts running. Only things I keep off unless using is wifi, standalone GPS and bluetooth, why leave that on if I'm not using it? And I keep the brightness fairly low but not 0 and that dim option unchecked. Don't use smart actions. ~75 apps installed with the usual FB stuff syncing.
The Razr is easily the best VZ LTE phone on battery, though I hear the Rezound is ok too. Overall it's been a hair less than my X. Not sure why some of you have such abysmal life, something tells me you're in a fringe area with a lot of network flipping without realizing it, or have something installed/not configured right.
The LTE Nexus is worse. Hearing high single digit hours with only moderate usage from someone testing it. Sure you can swap, but if it can't make it on average use for < 12hrs, it's not good IMO.

Your phone is defying physics if its LiIon battery can be "conditioned". Hint: there's no conditioning or break-in with these batteries.

He's right. Your phone gets better battery life the first couple days you use it not because the battery is being "conditioned" but because the phone's software learns how to utilize the battery better -- in laymans terms.
Oops
I nearly posted a response to all this *****ing about battery life to say that if we could just get CM7 onto this phone, it'd help quite a bit with battery life (even more so if we could manage a custom kernel, too). Then I realized that's how this thread was started. Where did we go wrong?

Since this thread has mutated into a battery thread I'll chime in as well. I have been getting amazing battery life the past few days. As stated above, the first few days are a gong show but it really does settle out and get much stronger. I'm not going to get into what my use is etc but I will say I am coming home with 20-30% more than what I was with my Desire Z, Sensation and Galaxy S after the same full day at work.
+1 for Motorola phones running CM. Ive had my Photon since August and just flashed CM7 build from the Photon forums and its wonderful. Just keep in mind that Motorola uses some of the BEST hardware. Their products hold strong through the years of abuse. I stuck it out with blur until CM7 was ported over to the photon. If i was on the razr, id do the same thing. Good things come in time. Phones work the best having good radios in them, without a good radio its just a good looking paper weight. Stick with Motorola and you will be impressed.

Agreed on all counts. Even with heavy use I can make it through the entire day and only be down to 30-40% when I charge it for the night.
Sike ....I stream Pandora at work and in two. Hours I am at 30%....strictly Pandora with my screen off....on 3g but with good coverage ...
hmm I use Jango and Tunein radio pro alot during the day along with calls and text. Plus I check out pulse and visit some forums on tapatalk and such and my battery life is great.
When you first got the phone did you let it drain all the way down the first couple of times before charging it? Not saying thats the problem, just heard and read alot about doing that helping battery life.
That is an old wives tale... or at least it is now. Older batteries definitely had "memory", the newer ones like in our Razr's - not so much.
Probably, but I did it anyway. Kind of like when you pick up a new performance car, you are not supposed to go WOT for long periods till 300-500 miles on the clock. It probably won't matter much, but i'd rather be safe than sorry.
I've installed "data on demand" from market, data and background sync is depended to screen on/off now & my battery life with a normal usage is more than 30hrs, love it

Really, guys? I assume that was in 3G all the time, right?
How many data you guzzled everyday (in MB) in term of emails, messagings, browsings, markets, etc, etc? i spent 2.5GB out of my 3GB quota every month which averaged to 70-90MB everyday for those activities. And my SGS II can only survive 10 hours at the maximum That even after i claimed the old battery and replaced with the new one (luckily for free by Samsung)
I seriously considering this RAZR blade, would you think it will slive my SGS2 battery life in two....?

It's gotta be directly proportional to the network type then. Let's take a poll to see if the GSM or CDMA version do better with battery life.
I have the CDMA razr on Verizon & routinely get 18+ hrs of battery life with 2 push email accts, Facebook & twitter syncing every hour & 9 Widgets that have to update periodically. I use the battery extender smart action and have some of the services on the auto-end list of the stock task manager.

This behaviour is definitely irregular... Those sharp drops and sudden spikes could be from the battery not being calibrated properly. On average, my Amaze with stock battery lasts me about 14-16 hours with 2.5-3 hours of screen time (lowest brightness most of the time).

Most android phones really need to be rooted so you can fully tweak the battery life. My amaze got roughly 16 hours with normal to heavy use with bullet proof 4.0. My phone I'm using now, the mytouch 4g gets around 24 hours with the same use. Before I would be lucky to get 8 hours with either phone. IV learned that you can either complain about things, do something about it, or just get an iPhone and go away . The beauty of android is the ability to go in and tweak.

averaging ~ 15-19 hrs of heavy usage a day on sense 3.5 rc1.7, sometimes Ill use juice defender to help with the longer work shifts but honestly its a huge difference from when I was stock.
its no different from when I was stock on my g2 to when I was rooted, sometimes you just have to tweak a few things to see a vast improvement.
Morning all,
I just woke up and unplugged my phone from the charger after leaving it to charge all night, right. As soon as I unplugged it, THE BATTERY DROPS 96% IN A MATTER OF SECONDS and I get the less than 5% of battery remain. I was like WTF?!?
I believe I found my problem....
Btw, I am on a rooted stock rom and I would consider myself a normal user. Calls, sms, and emails are the primary uses of my phone.
I am completely stock and get about 16hrs to a charge... I run miui music or stock music app for roughly 4 to 6 hrs a day and surf here and market and a bit of gaming.
I set screen brightness to 20% and keep my internet and blue tooth etc off most of the day....
I desperately want to debloat but I'm holding stock till ICS.
Rogue app sounds right along with the bloat like Google maps and Facebook eating up our batteries..
I also use a task manager to kill on command......
We have a hodgepodge setup of bloatware and settings in stock format... But I'm waiting and earning an ulcer till ICS as I know the upgrade will open the door to real development of truly good stuff

Hello
I'm sorry if this has been already asked before but I couldn't find it anywhere. What would you guys recommend as the best Jelly Bean ROM that will give me the longest battery life? I love the JB ROM that I'm using right now, but unfortunately it has got a horrible battery life. There are times where I will go through 3 full batteries in one day. I keep my screen brightness on auto and I don't really play games on my phone but I am a heavy user. I really value applications that use background data such as Gmail and Facebook and others so turning auto syncing is out of the question for me. I also use bluetooth a lot and stream pandora to my car radio for at least 1.5 hours a day. I'm looking for a ROM that can definitely get me through the day on one battery. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I don't think any rom will ever get the battery life you are asking for. With that kind of use, an extended battery is a must. Our phones (Hardware wise) will not do it.

That's not going to happen... Why wouldn't you plug it in when you're using it in the car?
Its not going to happen. You have to take people battery screenshots with a grain of salt. They have WiFi on and basically don't touch their phone. They have nothing syncing. I use neo infected ROM and while at work I mostly only use it to do fb texting and surf xda. I can have 40% battery left after about 12. During that time the usage is 2 10 min breaks and 40 min lunch. With maybe checking a few times an hr to see if the wife has texted me. So that's not real good life as that's light usage.
Like I have told people you have to choose what's more important battery life or using your phone like its was intended to be used.
This is just like a truck forum when people posts how can I get better gas mileage out of my v8. There's no such thing. I tell them want great gas mileage then buy a 4 banger econo box. Same goes for this Want great battery life get a dumb phone. Gotta pay to play.

One thing I noticed that did help that is not a placebo is a good auto brightness app. I use YAAB. It works wonders.

I'm on Infected 2.6 and I'm surprised at how good the battery life has been. At least, relative to other versions or ROMs. I unplugged it at midnight 2 nights ago and with light usage like you describe, I'm at 19% right now. 4G on, wi-fi off, background sync of 2 gmail accounts, Evernote and Facebook, light txting and about 2-3 phone calls.
I agree with your idea of using the phone like it's intended to be used though. If I get a full day on a charge, I'm happy.
2.7 is out now.

Yeah, get an extended battery. lol. This phone is a battery pacman regardless what ROM or what version of Android you are using. I never use Auto brightness. I just keep it down super low indoors then if I really need it I turn it up a bit outside. My phone stays on the chargers inside and out most of the time. No extended battery will last you all day at heavy use......
