I used the volume rocker to go all the way down.. but the last option is just vibrate. Whenever i get a message it vibrates and i NEED it on silent... no vibrant.. same with calls and other notifications.. when i hold the off button, it says Phone silent: sound it OFF, but it's really vibrate.. help?
if you flashed a rom and you're tryimg to get your phone in silent its only goin to say vibrate so to put it on silent go to STTINGS-SOUND-NEVER... thats how you put your phone in silent and as soon as you select that option an icon will appear in the status bar letting you know that your phone is in silent mode.....

This may seem like a stupid question lol... but I got the Mozart and cant figure out how to put it on silent...
Any help appreciated
hI,
Use the volume switch on the side to turn the sounds down to 0. You can also switch between vibrate or ring there.
Hope this helps.
In settings you can choose toggle between a quick-access vibrate or silent.
excellent... thanks for the replies... all sorted
I've Orange UK Mozart, where in setting we can toggle between vibrate or silent.
on HTC website it says, press the volume button and press the bell sign on top right corner for quick vibrate/silent mode. it does not work for Orange branded Mozart.
Or may be I'm missing something?
Ok, now understand;
we need to turn the vibrate ON so when volume button pressed down, it goes into vibrate mode (or by quickly pressing the bell button on right top corner).
when the vibrate is OFF, then volume button pressed down put i into silent mode (or by quickly pressing the bell button on right top corner).
However, if vibrate is turned ON then the phone vibrates alongwitht he ring for incoming call. What I'm looking for is simultanous options for silent and vibrate. I think it's missing in Windows 7.
To start off, i'm running gingerblur and i use the alarm on my phone almost every night. I also leave my phone on vibrate most of the time. The problem i am having is that i will go to bed with my phone in vibrate mode but when i take it off the charger in the morning (after the alarm goes off) it turns my ringer back on. Granted its usually at the lowest volume but still i would like for it to stay in vibrate mode. Is there a way to do this?
Also is there a way to go completely into silent mode by pressing the volume keys? It would be nice if i could just press volume down once in vibrate mode and it would change to silent mode.
Thanks in advance.
sigh, bump
On my other phones, when you keep pushing volume down, the ringer transitions from ring, to vibrate, to silent. But on the the photon, it goes from ring to vibrate. How do I tottaly silence it?
I wish there was a silent toggle. Sometimes I want both the ring to vibrate...but not always. I need a quick toggle.
if you press and hold the power button. it will pop up a menu. sound off is one of the options. you can also set the sounds off using the settings app.
I'd recommend downloading "simple sound profile widget" - it is similar to the profiles back when I had a nextel and a black berry. I put a widget that has the option of normal, silent, or vibrate - very quick and easy!

Or just hold the down volume key and when you feel it vibrate, you will be in Silent mode...
I know what u mean
This option was gone since froyo for some weird reason
Only cm7 brings that way back (via volume rocker)

Oh yeah. Probably would've helped if I read teh manual, but who does that
I wish there was a way to turn on vibrate individually quickly instead of going through the settings.
Huh?! It isn't gone. I use it all the time. Just press and hold the down volume key and it'll switch to Silent Mode...

it either goes ring to silent
or ring to vibrate
as i said back in the day, it would go from ring to vibrate to silent
to the OP, go to settings, sound, and play with the vibrate settings and ull get what u want
Yeah, that's right...
My bad, I didn't really check.
Damn, why'd they remove that feature...

You need to turn off vibrate in the ringtones+sounds section. When vibrate is on you get vibrate/ring options, when it's off you get silent/ring options.
I hope they will fix this. Dont know why it does not simply go through all the 3 options
Since 5.0, it has been a painful to get to true silent mode with Android. If you press the volume down button all the way, it tuns into vibrate instead of mute. However, in the past, I can just click on the vibrate icon and it turns into silent mode. With Marshmallow though this trick no longer works. Are there any ways around it? I do not like or want the DND mode because I still want to know when my e-mails and other notifications are coming in, I just don't want my Nexus 9 to beep or vibrate when they do. Thanks.
You will still get notified at the notification bar, although without sound or vibration, when you turn on DND mode. So you will see it there when you switch on the tablet. I guess this is the true silent mode you mean?
