Ok, obviously there are TONS of ROMs out there for the Vibrant. if you google Vibrant ROMs you get more hits than you know what to do with.
heres the question.
Out there somewhere, is there a list of fairly recent (running 2.2) roms? I know Ive found one at Android Candy, and that is actually where I found Toxic, which is bad @$$ by the way. I've just rooted my phone, 2 days ago, another member told me to try a ROM a day to get a feel for what im doing, as well as to expiriment with different ROMS, I have Smoothe Vanilla right now, and as simple as the UI is, I actually find its speed enjoyable.
So if anyone can help me out, because obviously there are ROMs all over XDA, but wading though tons of threads to find one is a little meticulous, I would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks all!
as an after thought!11 Id like to find some root apps as well...I tried using s15724n's guide, but unfortunately my CW doesnt seem to want to comply even though I purchased premium (bummer!) so I wasnt able to DL any of the apps using the BC scanner....
There's a list of all the roms in a sticky in the dev forum

Just got my GS2 a week or so ago and it's my first Android coming from a Samsung mythic, needless to say it's been quite the jump.
Luckily for me I had a few friends who are quite savvy and they helped me root it and showed me a few roms. I jumped around and I'm currently using SHOstock (which is quite fantastic).
I'm at the point now where I'm thinking about contributing but I have no idea where to begin. I was just wondering if any developers or anyone else for that matter had any tips on where to start.

I'm no developer, but I've seen many people ask this question before.
The devs always respond with something like "Create apps for Android first, to get to know your way around the OS. Then move on to Somalia/baksmali" or something.
Check out my thread I made a little bit ago. Its relevant to your question.

I've kind of grown tired of not having full access to the market recently because my phone isn't supported. I've seen the other threads about tricking the market with a different country code and one other thread about changing some properties. My newbie question is, would any of that change if I went to a newer ROM? I've been running Nero v3 for over a year and have been really happy with the results so far. It has great battery life and it's also been very, very stable for me. Since it is a 2.2 ROM, I've been a little skeptical of changing to a 2.3+ ROM as I'm not entirely sure if I would need to ODIN back to stock and what other steps might be involved. I hope you guys understand my question in newbie terms, and hope to not get flamed in advance!! Have a great day guys....
It depends on what build.prop identifies your phone. It varies upon what the ron developer puts or you could modify yourself.
I think most of the newer GB ICS roms identify as i9000 jvt

You can do a Google search for an application called Market Unlocker. What it does is allow you to pay for and access applications from Android Market or Amazon Appstore from countries where paid apps are not available yet. Or you can find it on the marketplace Here
I have looked and read and cannot find anything specific about this topic for THIS PHONE.
I asked my question in the Phone Bricker thread, and LilChris advised me to look elsewhere as he had no answer.
My question is this;
Is it worth using this script on this phone (AT&T Running international software base (Phone Bricker), and just what does it do, at least from a Kernel's point of view. I am already running NEAK, and it has a lot of settings, on top of Vert's theme and a custom ROM, I am wondering if this is not only safe to use, but if it makes any sense.
Thanks in advance for any non flame replies!
You made me sound like I didn't want to help. Lol
I just haven't had time to test it myself since I am always flashing new stuff for future updates.
Will be looking at this for some feedback as well.
I've used it before, yes it works and your phone definitely feels a lot faster. That said, I haven't tried it with ics yet. So no idea if it'd play nice. May wanna ask him in his thread?

That's an excellent point. I'll give that a try.
As for LilChris, your always most helpful, but I would assume you have your limits as well. As this is an add-on and there are thousands of them, I don't know what I was thinking.
Honestly I was afraid to get flamed so I posted it in the Phone Bricker forums. Too many trolls/flamers here for my liking.
I have been using it on every ROM I have flashed. Never had a problem with it. Works out great for me...
Well after posting in Zepplinroxx' forum, I was assured that the script would work fine with no danger to the phone. As it's just a script it would (in theory) work in almost all Android devices.
Here is a link that they posted me too that explains the V6 Supercharger in a bit more detail (and in english)

So, ive made a big switch. I went from a Captivate with 2.3, to my EVO 3D. Im currently running on 2.3.4 and Hboot 1.49.
Im looking to root the dev so i can remove some of the onboard rogers crap. Stuff in the background is running when i don't want it to. And some of the games and junk on here, i just want to get rid of.
Im reading several threads, but none of them are specific enough. Can someone point me to the proper rooting thread for this build? I dont plan on using a ROM, this OS is stable as it is.
As well, can someone recommend me an Antivirus? Ive heard of people starting to use these, maybe someone can suggest me one.
Thanks in advance,
-Dan

Apparently you haven't read the important threads, otherwise you would have posted this in the right forum :')
Antivirus is overrated AFAIK, it's pretty much only an issue if you plan on installing unknown APKs or using third party app stores. I've been hacked once when I installed an unknown APK on my tablet, which resulted in a password reset of my Google account because my credentials were compromised and some prick attempted to log in to my account from Argentinia
I've looked at the other forum regulations and this was the one that came the closest to the subject. Then again, i also haven't been on the forum for about 6-9 months.
If someone can direct this thread to the proper section that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

this forum is for ROM development. Your thread is about a question you have. That means this thread should go into Q&A (I honestly feel sorry for doing this, the Q&A forum is a very dark place where you can easily lose your mind among the imbeciles)
Definitively off dev thread ;-)
Depending on your hboot version many subprocesses are related.
My advise is to precisely indentify tour default settings then you will easily find out your happiness to clean what you dont want.
Btw, in dev section there are severals cleaned stock roms.
Depending on what you are looking for and consequences (root needed, s off, ...), make tour choice and enjoy.
Personnaly my favorite for daily usage is the Mwakious 3d one, but official ics update is coming since this morning all around the world (do not know for Roget)
Jump and enjoy this really Nice and Effective toy.

Well, ill take a closer look around and see what may benefit me. As stated before, im on Hboot 1.49. Im used to rooting and customizing my Captivate, not exactly the same as the HTC, thats for sure.
moved to q&a as this is not development. if you did not develop anything then do not post in the development section

I like the anti-theft features of Lookout, but I prefer the other features (especially with regard to root features) of Avast. Right now though, I'm not running any.

I have been having many issues with my Verizon Samsung Fascinate currently running the 2.3.5 update and I've read on a post somewhere through searching Google that rooting it would make it not only run the way it should be faster. That it is mostly the Verizon software installed on the phone. I have never attempted anything like this and will honestly admit I'm quite scared of screwing it up. Has anyone done this with ease at a good success rate? Any advice good or bad or things that I should look out for?
Thank you!!
I was you a few months ago. Rooting did not really speed up my phone, but it did allow me to do other cool stuff, like block all ads. If you have more time and energy, you can install an ICS ROM like THS or AOKP. Those will speed up your phone quite a bit. As a general rule, nothing in Droidstyle guide will steer you wrong.
Just follow droidsyles guide and you will be all fine. It doesn't hurt to ask questions. There is a good chance you will screw up your phone at some point, but most of us have. It is pretty hard to brick these phones. Also, nice to see someone on here from out neck of the woods!
