[Q] 2.3.3/4 rom? - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a leaked update with 2.3.3? Does anyone have screenshots of kaoscinate?

CM7 Melts my face off!!

What would the best direction to go in for CM7? The Samsung Galaxy S has an official release... same thing here?? No? New to the Fascinate.. I've had mine for 3 days!!!

The Fascinate has no 2.3.3 official leak (nor do we know if it even exists), and will probably take a long time to arrive if at all. Although we do have partially working CM7 Tom, which is awesome. It's my daily driver.

Can you post screenshots if you have time?

Just type in CM7 on Google. There's tons of screenshots of it.

is anyone working on a flashable gingerbread kernel that will work with 2.2?

just wondering if there is anyone working on this, or if the source is even out yet....tmo did say that hey would have upcoming android releases within 3-5 months from release of said versions. Just curious if there are any leaks that anyone has come across.
Thanks

From my understanding, a gingerbread kernel will only work with a gingerbread rom.
You want a flashable 2.3 kernel modded to work on 2.2 - is that what you are asking?
Yes and no, I'm just wondering if anyone is working on a gingerbread rom for vibrants, and from what i understand, gingerbread roms won't work unless it includes a gingerbread kernel.

your question: "is there a 2.3 kernel that works in 2.2?"
problem: this makes no sense. only 2.2 kernels work in 2.2. Only 2.3 kernels work in 2.3. What are you trying to ask?
Interpretation: "is anyone working on a 2.3 rom for your vibrants?"
Answer: yes. CM just upped a test version of 2.3 IN ALPHA (not the same as the ones that appeared in december), but right now it's almost exclusively i9k only (to convert the radio file takes a bit or work).
Good news for our vibrants, Krylon360 of TeamWhiskey is working on a 2.3 port himself. But the progress is going to be a while since he's the only one working on it.
hey everyone, i usually dont post, observer is more like it. but i am having touble and i hope someone could shed some light. the first issue is with the dow kernel from tw. it wont recognize my headset as a microphone headset, only plays music, and second, ffc isn't my default camera when i use messenger, fring, or qik. it works fine, except for the low light/low banding issue, havent found anything for that yet, but i digress. those programs go automatically to my back cam, not sure what i'm doing wrong. thanks in advance for the help and just wanted to say thanks to all the devs. you guys are awesome, we would be running crappy slow phone and slaves to our networks. you guys (and gals) rock.

Custom ROM 2.3 for Samsung Vibrant (SGH-T959)

I have a friend who owns a Samsung Vibrant (SGH-T959). He is the Galaxy S, but made for T-Mobile.
I thought CyanogenMod 2.3.7 ROM for Galaxy S, but they are not for this version SGH-T959.
Anyone know if there is a ROM (2.3.5 or 2.3.7) stable for this mobile?
Best Regards,
Try MIUI

MIUI that is stable?
the staff is active?
you have the link?
Both CM7 and MIUI are based on 2.3.7. And they are both supported on the Samsung Vibrant.
CM7: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1297792
MIUI: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1123922
Take a look in the development section of the Vibrant forum to find out more information.
I don't think any of them are good enough for a daily driver. I put CM7 on mine and took it off in the same day. The battery life was terrible and the GPS was flakey if it worked.
I think the 2.3 based ROMs will never be as stable as the 2.2 based ones because Samsung never released a 2.3 update for the Vibrant. There is something missing that is needed in the drivers to make things work right.
Very good it !!!!!!
.
Does this "Vibrant" is the SGH-959?
Someone who has the SGH-959 uses this ROM? It is working great?
Hug,
JR
Asgard 3.2 is pretty stable for a daily driver, but 2.2 roms are the best for stability

That's a BS statement if I've ever heard one!!!
Cm7 and Miui are exceptionally stable and make very good daily drivers...I've played with both and love Miui......very stable, everything works, and its extremely fast.
As far as GPS goes that's a phone thing....some phones GPS works better than others.
And battery.....well that depends on the user...I don't buy the fact that people get 2-4 days on a full charge unless they just don't do **** on their vibrants, personally I've never gotten good battery life on mine.....but I'm on my phone almost 24/7....that's why I have 3 batteries and an external charger and you will never see me crying and *****ing about battery life
I have Bionix v1.3.1 which comes with gingerbread theme

it's not BS. It is an admission on the CyanogenMod site itself that the GPS is flakey with their vibrant build.

Does GPS work for the Samsung Vibrant with this ROM?
Somewhat, but it's recommended that if GPS is important, this isn't the best ROM to use.

As for battery life, I am not expecting multiple days, but on Froyo, I can listen to music all day at work and come home to charge it. With CM7, I had to charge in the middle of the day. I wasn't doing anything different, but there was less battery left after the same amount of time.
Does anyone have a tutorial step by step how to install the ROM MIUI 2.3?
I'm still with Android 2.2. Samsung Vibrant SGH-T959

Umm miui is 2.3.7 it is what you make it as far as themes...what you don't seem to understand is miui is 100% user themeable.
You don't have to wait for someone to make a theme for you,its totally customizable ....you theme every aspect to your liking
Im using miui 2.3.7 nb version as a daily driver. it's smooth and stable

im running on miui 2.3.7, really smooth and stable, plus fully customisable themes
Thats true i have used MIUI for a while and it is very stable and also CM7 as well. Battery life ALWAYS depends on the user and not on the phone or ROM. I have wasted all my battery in 4 hours if i really use it alot and when i dont it has lasted me over 16 hours and that doesnt have to depend on the ROM because its been the same for any rom that i use.

[Q] Latest version of Android for stock Vibrants?

Hi all,
I've been running Bionix v 1.3.1 for a year straight. Tonight I decided for maintenance sake, to go back to stock, clean everything up and start over. I'm probably going to re-flash Bionix, which is Android 2.2, but I'm curious. What's the latest version of Android released by Samsung for Vibrants?

There is the newly released 2.3 "Value Pack" from Samsung. However, it is leaked, meaning they did not officially release it, someone who works for Samsung either released it early, or it was pulled from their servers.
Thanks guys. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't THAT far behind the times.

Check the development forums as well. Neobuddy and Onecosmic have made amazing strides towards putting ICS on the Vibrant.
ICS Passion 10.6:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362961
Onecosmic's ICS RC2:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1428497
Both versions appear to be working with Eugene's ICS Kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432051
Remember: Both ICS ROMs I've suggested are in beta phase and can have some issues, so be sure to read the forums before jumping in.
*note* I'm using Neobuddy's ICS Passion (default kernel) as my daily driver. The current issue (10.6) has a few issues that should be known:
1) When receiving an incoming call some phones require the user to push mute/unmute for the microphone to work properly [I use a headset and don't have this issue]
2) When the phone goes into a deep sleep, it can create a couple issues: may have to turn off/on the screen for the touch aspect to work and GPS will require a phone reboot to work.
These two things don't bother me at all for the awesomeness for ICS... it's taken my phone from "worthless PoS" to "ohhhh snaps, i love my phone."
Hopefully this additional information will help you and possibly make your phone more enjoyable again!

[Q] Stay at Android 2.3.4 or go at ICS?

Hello all!
First: sorry for my not quite good english.
Second: I have some type of problem. Actually I have on my SGS Vibrant ROM: Simply Honey Revolution 5.0 based on 2.3.4 android version. Now I'm thinking about uprage to some of ICS versions, like: ICS Passion v12 or Team ICSSGS RC4.1. I don't know what rom is better for me.
In 2.3.4 rom I have almost everything working, except GPS and front camera. Battery life is very good for me. I don't want new issues.
So, someone can help me to decide what I should do? Make upgrade to ICS (and what rom is better for me?) or stay at Simply Honey rom?
Thanks for advice!
Regards.
I had froyo and tried CM7. Didnt like much and went straight to ICS Passion. No regret at all, smoother, faster. It has the mute/unmute issue and you also need to reboot in order that GPS works. But still think that its better than GB 2.3.4 ROM. Didnt try ICSSGS, just Doc's (didnt like that much) and Passion so if you do try ICSSGS, give your thought.
the devs for ICSSGS dont actually have the vibrant. its a port from the i9000 and built off aosp. ics passion is built for the vibrant off cm9 framework. imho, ics passion or ecstasy are the best.
Ahh I see. So, for me better option is make upgrade to ICS. So I will try it. I hope that I won't be disappointed.
Thanks!

ICS beats any previous Android version by a mile.
The only thing that MIGHT suffer is your gaming performance. I've found that certain games my phone should play don't play as smoothly as intended (I'm talking about graphics intensive games here, like MC3, GTA 3, 9MM). The ROM is still in BETA and there are still some things to work out, but it's a very smooth experience overall.

Yes , Wrong.
Only reason not to go ICS is if you want the CM7 extras like permissions management. Passion or, if you want straight AOSP source, ICSSGS. Good luck.
These ice cream sandwich roms are pretty impressive and run very smooth when installed properly... The passion rom is no longer in beta and is pretty smooth for me.. Everything works except the gps after deep sleep.. Even the mute/unmute issue has been fixed!

[Q] HTC Hero Donut ROM?

Hello, I wonder has anyone made a Donut rom for the Hero/G2 Touch (GSM)? It's more than three years old and it still doesn't have a donut rom?
All these fancy gingerbreads and jelly beans make my hero pretty slow (even O.C. to 748mhz) and the Modacco 1.5 rom is outdated just for the 0.1 (most software is incompatible with cupcake but is with donut)
So... If anyone finds a link to download, please post it here. The only link I've found isn't working because it's from 2009.
Thanks up front :good:
Nope, i dont think that there is any, get on these forums for a couple of days, there will be a killer froyo sense ROM, im just having some troubles with GPS and camera, usual froyo issues...
