This would be amazing if we can use this!

by the time that thing recognizes face and unlocks, most people would've used their phone to watch a whole movie til then : P

in actual firmware there isn't

So, Samsung lied again. Another further was taken off.
NFC - gone
Face Recognition - gone
What next...?

What about Korean devices
I wonder if Korean devices has facial recognition, as it also has NFC. Any Korean device owners here who can verify?

The facial recognition on the phone isn't for unlocking it's when you taking a photo you can tell it to look for faces then it focuses on them like most cameras now

There's a Youtube video somewhere showing a demo of the phone, and facial recognition unlock is definitely present.

I heard this some where some feature from MWC aren't included maybe they will put it in 2.3.4?? That browser rotation animation isn't there any more??
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

Apparently the facial recognition unlock worked with photo's too, so I'm not really surprised if they did take it out, it's not a very secure feature. Cool, but not secure.

This feature can be seen here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=To7QqybjLfI&feature=player_embedded#t=38s

I can imagine my missus pointing the phone at my face to unlock while I'm asleep, yeah cool to have, but won't use and don't miss it

Software update can bring this feature

No dream mate, there was an english review with a girl showing the facerecognition unlock. I haven't received the phone yet, but it should be a setting under the security tab..
afraid not pal...see attached screen shot :-(
would have been cool though!

Yup, the first demo video showed it. I guess it has been removed for security reasons (face recognition isn't really secure). Can't find it in settings here.
I heard it was vulnerable to the good old attack of "hold photo up to camera".
Too much of a gimmick if you ask me tbh.
i would prefer to decide myself if something is secure or not though ...
it seems a bit strange to have a piece of functionality working and then ditch it - gimmicks are an integral part of the sales process. i quite like going through the process of thinking something is cool and incredibly useful only to realise that it's completely pointless after i've used it a couple of times ...
disappointed - perhaps the facial recognition code would have added a few mm to the thickness of the phone like the NFC hardware ...

It's not there. It's just the three standard options: Password, PIN or unlock pattern.
Edit: Late

Well to be honest that was my theory in the forums
I still think it hold up though.

glitchy face lock?

has anyone enabled facelock for your LTEVO yet?
I've had it running since yesterday and very often when I try to unlock the phone it'll try to use the camera but all i get is a black screen then it reverts to the alternate pass code.. this'll happen maybe... every third time? i suppose it may have to do with the camera process running in the background...
anyone else sharing my pain?
I use it but I haven't got a black screen from the camera...
I've been using it since I got the phone and I've only had that happen 3 or 4 times seemingly when I had a lot of stuff already running.

No problems here. Freakin fast as hell unlocking
Sent from my EVO LTE
I do get that too occasionally unfortunately.

Ok I am getting it too...Maybe one out of ten face unlocks will be just a black screen instead of the camera working.
Depending on the lighting it is 50/50 for me.

Lighting has to be somewhat decent, this feature doesn't seem to work in low light. I recommend you all use the 'Improve face matching' feature in different types of ambient light.
Mine unlocks very fast, quicker than I could type my PIN, if the lighting is decent.

Works flawless on my phone, but as a note:
I don't like it, its unsecured. In days where Facebook is famous, anyone with a good picture of you can unlock your phone, even by holding a picture of you they got in their phone close to your phone...

Agreed...but it's a pretty cool feature
Too bad there isn't a way to combine security features, for example, have face unlock plus PIN or pattern. Might get annoying in practical use though.
I'd love to use it but it won't recognize me with glasses on and I won't take them off everytime I go into my phone lol
How do you enable this? Or is it a separate app from the Play Store?

I was just going to ask if this works for someone that wears glasses, has this been everyone's experience?, I'd check myself but the wife has my phone.

I messed with it more at home and its working now. Probably give it a full day before I make a decision on keep or trash.

Lucky for me, I'm not famous. Anyone likely to have my picture would also likely return the phone to me.
Since I haven't bothered with using a screen lock in the past, maybe I'll try it.

Under improve face matching, you can have more than one picture to improve recognition, I took one with sunglasses on and one with out and it works.

Also, try it under different types of lighting and backgrounds. I've been surprised sometimes when I've been in less than ideal lighting, it still recognizes me.
Of course, I haven't tested with someone else's face.

Facial recognition?

Just started using it today. Seems like it works okay so far. Anybody else use it? Have you been able to trick it? Just curious about how well it works and security on it.

I find it not working correctly more often than not, however, that is because I only really use it while my phone is lying down, so the angle of my face might be tripping it up. I can't imagine what it will be like on the iphone x where this is the only way to unlock the phone. Holding my phone up to my face is not how I want to unlock my phone every time.

Yeah. I still have the fingerprint set up and mostly use that. True, I have bought iPhones too but I really wasn't interested in the X at all.

I redid the facial recognition for face unlock and I am now finding it is more accurate than before. Win!
**Yes i was being stupid, found it
Am i being really stupid, but i cant find this feature at all.
Im sure i saw it on set up but cant find it again now.
Andy ideas chaps?

Face unlock option gone?
Sorry for bringing this old thread up again, but i wanted try the face unlock option recently and i can't find it anymore.
I've set it up when I got my phone but switched it off till now.
Does anybody have the same problem? It it possible LG removed the option with one of latest updates?
Cheers
Dan
Nevermind, i've found it. Apparently i've removed lg face recognition from trust agents...

3d scanner updated

You can't scan people anymore.
Why did they remove that? Damnit!
Can you elaborate? I don't really like this phone that much and 3D scanner is the only reason I want to get it, to scan things and then print on my 3D printer. If the scanner doesn't work, then I'm not buying it ever. How does it even know what are you scanning?
I think it's only Note 10+ feature. I just downloaded it from Galaxy Store normally, and it is working fine

Who TF buys a phone just for 3d scanning? Buy a special camera for this then, not a smartphone
The 3d scanner is working fine for objects. However, I don't think the quality is anywhere near good enough to print. Unless you're doing it for the gimmick.
But I can no longer select between Person and Thing. The directions telling you how at the app launch have changed to omit that too. When you try to scan a person now, it has you get too close. Then, as soon as you press the start button, it errors out and says try again. I reckon it uses ai to know what you're scanning. It has to know something to be able to animate your scan.

I'm strictly Note user, since I use s-pen all the time, my daughter needs phone for school, so my idea was to buy Note10+ for myself and give my Note8 to my daughter. No phone jack, no heart monitor, hole etc made me dislike new Note10+ and 3D scanner was the only reason I would get it. But you may be right, maybe I get Note9 instead and dedicated 3d scanner later and hope Samsung comes back with better Note11 in the future.

Yeah, you don't understand. The first couple days, once you opened the scanner, you could select either that you were going to scan a person or a thing. They removed the options. You can now only scan things. If you try to scan a person, it will fail.

I found scanning anything just doesn't end up looking right. Also, unless you're propping things on a stick, you won't be able to get a full 3d scan. I didn't get the phone specifically for this reason but I feel that it was a feature that's half baked and still in Alpha.

Question Fingerprint Sensor not only bad, but unsafe?

I've had my share of grief with the fingerprint sensor on my Pixel 6, but it's totally usable and I was generally fine with it. Until I realised yesterday that all that oh-so complex and safe AI security procedure that allegedly makes the sensor so slow is complete bs.
I was sitting next to a friend who had never used an in-screen fingerprint sensor before and he wanted to mess around with it. After like 5 seconds he unlocked the phone. His left thumb was accepted by the phone. I was in utter shock. He was able to unlock the phone every single time without any problems whatsoever. So I thought ok, this might be rare, but there is a tiny chance that two people have very similar fingerprints. But needless to say, I was not able to unlock his iPhone with my fingerprint.
I have a few things that I dislike about the Pixel, but this safety concern feels major to me.
This has been recently publicised. There is a chance that other people may be able to unlock your 6.

it sure has been reported before but seeing it from others with the simplicity to bypass it is not just scary but hopefully embarrassing for Google and I hope they fix this.

Wow, hadn't heard about that yet. In the past I've heard that those simple face unlocks can be tricked by as little as a picture of someone, but I always thought fingerprint sensors would be precise and safe. Well, leave it to google to mess it up I guess.
I thought google hardware would be worth something in 2021, but this phone does not feel good at all.
Scary potential security problems indeed...
Did you have Smart Lock enabled? Did it actually scan the finger (i.e. did it get really bright on that part of the screen). The screen shows the fingerprint icon even when the phone is unlocked.
I didn't realise it was unsafe as well as being completely useless.
I have a use my pin to unlock it 50% of the time.
It also uses a CCD (i.e. camera) to read the fingerprint, so in theory, a picture of your finger should trick it into unlocking.
