Hello,
am a new member here and need an urgent help in a complicated issue ( at least for me ;(,)
I have Samsung galxy Vibrant (T-mobile), I rooted it and tried to install custom roms on it.
I tried about 4 roms and every thing was fine.
the last try was the problem; I installed a gingerbread rom and it was good, then I tried to reboot it in system recovery mode as usual but this time the boot screen was different, plz refer to the attached image.
in this screen I have to press OK key to enter a choice, but what's the OK key I have to press???
I the past it was " press power key" and it was ok.
I tried all buttons to choose a choice but nothing works.
I tried to boot it in download mode but again no result, it hangs on recovery screen.
So please I need a help in this, how can I exit from this stupid recovery screen, or boot in download mode?
Thanks and sorry for this looooooong description
What gingerbread rom are you on?
it's Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread XXJVK

Depending on the ROM the recovery mode isn't working. For example I know Simply Galaxy 2.3 wasn't working. Did you read the whole post for the ROM? Can you post the link to the ROM you installed?
EDIT: Nevermind you can post links. Please post the name of the ROM you installed ex. Simply Galaxy, MIUI, CM7 etc
this is the link:

Can I get into recovery mode without a working home button? My i9100 has a faulty home button, phone is stuck on a bootloop will not get pass the samsung logo screen. I can flash the phone in odin with a stock rom and finish with success but still get stuck on bootloop. I think if I can get into recovery to wipe data then the phone will boot all the way. Any help is appreciated. I've searched but have found nothing solid. Thanks!
Buy a usb jig off ebay. plug it in then turn your phone on and it will put it into download mode.
e.g.

I can get into download mode by pressing and holding volume down + pressing and releasing power but still holding volume down when turning the phone on. But my question is, how do I get into recovery without home button?
Flash a matching Chainfire CF root kernel via Odin (phone in DL mode). This with install his Cwm app. Once rebooted, run app (give su permission), and choose to boot into either clockwork recovery, dl mode, or reboot.
Edit: But once in recovery, how do you plan to actually select anything when the home button doesn't work? ? ?

He cant boot up, he's stuck at boot logo so no way to use the cwm from chainfire
Oh dear without the home button it's hard to operate the phone. I think you can boot into recovery mode by using ADB, search on the forums or Google.
I would rather you have the home button replaced ot fixed.
Cheers!

Use can use QtADB to get into recovery - just tried, it works. But the option "flash zip" doesn't work, and of course,................
how do you plan to "select" anything if the home button doesn't work? ? ? Can't think of any way just yet.
---------- Post added at 03:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:49 PM ----------
If you have adb setup, and know how to use it;
1. Copy the Custom ROM.zip to your sdcard folder on the phone
2. Rename to "update.zip"
3. Run CMD and navigate to the sdk tool folder where adb.exe is
4. Run "adb reboot recovery" to enter recovery mode
5. Phone to boots into recovery screen
6. "apply: /sdcard/update.zip"
7. After finish, reboot into new ROM
Haven't tried it myself though on the SGS2 ..............
tried it, didn't work..
Lost my Home button after odin flash HELP
I am stuck a i9100 that has no home working home button after i botched my first odin flash. I can not seem to get the device to be recognized by ADB or ODIN now that its messed up. I can boot into the Android Recovery System e3, and i can move up and down in the menu, but the 'home' button i used to select options no longer works. I can not get it to boot out of that menu.
This is a Sprint branded i9100 from the United States... tho when i got it, it was already 'rooted' with Gingerbread-Eg30 however it did not state the firmware version. So after i used ODIN to ref lash it... it rebooted and killed my home key... Now i am not sure what to do. ADB is not finding the device listed and I can't seem to get it to take a rom. Any suggestions?
Prior to flashing this rom in odin i had a working home key which was used as part of the 3 button combo to ender flashing mode or to select an option in the stock recovery menu.
Any help would be great!

I am having the same problem. My I9100's home button doesn't work. I had cyanogenmod 10.1 and cwm recovery installed. Used the button saviour app to operate a virtual home button on screen. Updated to cyanogenmod 10.2. nightly yesterday. All seemed working. Today I found that some apps like Google Play and ROM Manager would crash on when started. So I thought I go back to cyanogenmod 10.1. Started the installation of 10.1 from the "about this phone" settings because ROM Manager crashed and I couldn't boot into recovery from the crashing ROM Manager.
So, I now flashed a stock firmware from samfirmware.com with ODIN (because I can get into download mode with the USB-Jig), but that stock rom stucks in a boot loop.
Any suggestions? I believe, I am stuck in boot loop because I couldn't wipe the phone before flashing. Is there any way to wipe it in download mode?
Or can you be more specific, how to flash a "full wipe rom" and post a link where I can download such a rom?
1. Don't use rom manager on i9100, sure way to screw things up /brick.
2. Get the hardware sorted before you muck around with software. As you have found out, it's easy to get into a situation where you need the hardware to function correctly.
3. Download JB leak (stock firmware) from samfirmware and flash it via Odin. It's a 3 part firmware, and will wipe as it flashes.

Dear all,
i hope you can solve my problem,
when i start my phone, it gives at&t logo screen, this is because i have unfortunately used captivate stock file, and with that i have also lost my 3 button combo.
i want to remove at&t logo and want to get my original vibrant startup screen, and also i want my 3 button combo back to get into restore and download mode.
I m currently using Clockwordmod kernel and Cyanogen mod 7 ROM.
Thanks
please help me....
I would suggest downloading the vibrant AIO toolbox and using Odin to get back to stock. To enter download mode I have always powered down the phone pull the battery and plug the phone into comp. Then while holding both volume down and up insert the battery. Should go rite to download mode. Hope this helps

i have tried this as well,,,it doesnt get into the download mode like this... i went down to the stock but the at&t logo is still there ...and it doesnot fixes up 3 button combo...
You need a usb jig to force it into download mode. You can make one yourself if you're handy. Ive had similar problems with ported roms and incorrect button mapping. The jig works every time.
i have ordered a jig for myself ...but how to remove that at&t logo ? my phone is from T-mobile ....
Boot screens come with your rom and/or kernel. Once you flash a rom for the vibrant it should have the correct boot images.
where can i get the stock kernel for vibrant ? please help?
You need to flash Vibrant stock bootloaders via ODIN.

Please follow this step by step, else I won't be responsible for any DAMAGE.
1. Enter Download mode on your phone.
2. Open ODIN on your computer.
3. Plug in USB and check if ODIN recognizes the phone.
4. Remove all ticks from ODIN, except PDA.
5. Select PDA and browse to the bootloader TAR package file you wish to flash.
6. Click on Flash.
7. If ODIN says PASS, long press power for 10 seconds and it'll reboot, else, repeat 2-6 again...

enter odin, take out your battery, connect the usb to the computer and to the phone, press both vol up and down buttons, reinstall the battery.A yellow COM should pop up in odin.Flash the pit files and you should be good to go!
(if both vol buttons dont give you a COM on odin try vol up then the process if not vol down and the process)
have u looked up the captivate button mapping. maybe you can get into download that way

Hmm... thats kinda weird. download mode is usually a last resort fix, so i think that being stuck on "downloading" might be normal. As for recovery, i really am not sure sorry. You could always try to do a factory reset though and see if that clears it up

If you flash a official release from sammobile it should not increase your binary count, thus leaving your warranty intact. It is when you root or flash a custom Rom your binary will increase.
Worst case you need to use triangleaway if counter increases

If anyone's interested, I had to return the phone under warranty where they replaced the main PBA.
The combination to get to recovery is this (for future reference)
Vol-up + home + power button. Once galaxy s 3 logo pops up quickly let go of the power button and hold in again then let all three go once in recovery.

You guy´s soft bricked your phones thats why u dont get any where re-flashing, but heres something worth trying without risking anything!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
JUST GET YOUR SAMMY STOCK ROM FIRST FROM THEIR SITE
Use this Odin version >android.gs/download-odin-1-85/.
Above the country code and you can know the three-letter code which applies to your country. Now look for the date of release and select an appropriate update release for your phone.
Step-4 Rebooting
Reboot by holding Home, Volume Down and Power buttons. Remember you need to hold the Volume Down button and not the Volume Up button as in the first step. You will get into the download mode. So, you phone is now ready to get the firmware via USB.
The phone will flash a warning about the dangers involved. You should not worry as you are putting the firmware back on the phone.
On the computer, now unzip the Samsung firmware folder you downloaded from the official website. Now extract the .md5 file.
Now open Odin, select.md5 file in the 'PDA' section of Odin.
Make sure that Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time is ticked.
Connect your Galaxy S3 to your computer via the USB lead. Odin will automatically detect the phone and a pop-up message will show. Now start the process of transferring the file.
Step-5
Wait for the file to download. Odin will show 'PASS!' in the box once the transfer is successful. And the phone will then, reboot.
If it hangs on the Samsung logo, don't worry reboot into the recovery mode by holding down Home, Volume Up and Power buttons. Wipe the data/factory reset and reboot.
This will in all chances bring your phone to a functioning mode. Sign in and start working.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The extent of you phone being bricked may vary, but the symptoms are often the same -- a reboot loop, switching itself off after the Samsung logo or never getting into the operating system. As long as you can get into the recovery mode, there is hope to recover the Samsung Galaxy S3,
no success

your solutions are great but in my case it didnt help at all.

Try the following guide to see if you can force open Download Mode through odin mode. Here is the link,
How to unbrick Samsung Galaxy Ace
This guide was meant for Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 and hence the Download Mode key combination is different. So make sure the change the Download Mode key combination to your own device. If you can force open the Download Mode this way, then you can try installing the stock rom. Do post the result. Hope I Helped

I tried to boot in recovery and download mode but both of them doesn't work. I hope some of you can help me. I bricked my phone before but then I could get into download mode but now I don't.
Thanks a lot

Hello,
Thanks for your help but it didn't work for me. My pc can't find the phone. And I installed the drivers several times. I also tried a program to force my phone into download mode but the program also doesn't recognize the phone.

As you can't enter the Recovery Mode and Download Mode, you have pretty much hard-bricked your phone. Since the above method didn't work, then you can try the USB Jig (not always guaranteed to work). If USB Jig did work, then it will force open the Download Mode so you can flash stock rom back using odin. If USB Jig doesn't work either, then your last option is to consult the Service Center. Do post the result. Hope I Helped

there might be a problem with your usb. Try using a new usb.
also, try this.
remove battery
connect to pc via usb
press volume up and down and lock key
if you get a black screen then press the volume up key
Thanks a lot

Thanks a lot! I can get my phone in download-mode now by pressing volume up and down plus the lock key. Normally it's lock key plus home button plus the volume down key but that didn't work but this did!! I can't say how much I should thank you! You saved my life.
THANKS

Thanks for your help but I already got in download mode by pressing the volume up and down key and the power key. So I didn't have to go buy an Jig or go to the service center but also thanks a lot!!
