Just to secure some stock, worst case I can send it for a refund within 14 days. Theres a few sites on ebay / google claiming to do it but from what I can gather no one on any forum has actually tried it yet (not to say it wont work).
try this http://www.mobileunlocked.co.uk/Samsung/i9100+Galaxy+S+II/
I just received my unlock code from mobileunlocked.co.uk - took about 4 hours, but worked perfectly with very clear instructions.
Many thanks to mobileunlocked
at just £399 on o2 payg, with a £15 unlock fee, your getting a pretty cheap phone.
Thets almost enough of a difference for me to return my sim free to phones4u for a refund and buy one direct from o2.

just to add more weight, i used mobileunlocked co uk yesterday, took about 4 hours to get the code and it worked fine. I guess the differences in timing is down to them batching up jobs and if you get in there just before the job stars you'll get a code quickly.

It's too new for there to be refurbished devices in stock. So new, in fact, that a customer with an online ordered phone who came into our store last week was told that in order to get a warranty-provided phone, they'd have to place a $650 hold on a credit card till they received the defective phone.

I'm pretty excited that HTC is offering the unlocked, bootloader unlocked developer version from their website. I think this is a great deal for their phone support.
Also, you can get a free flip case and free shipping from HTC for their early bird pre-order special.
I just ordered a silver 64GB one for $649. Can't wait to get my hands on my phone!

I seriously thought about it, but with my job I work outdoors and I need to have insurance on my phone. That, and if something goes wrong I can take it into the nearest AT&T store and get it replaced instead of having to send it back to HTC and wait for a return.
When will we see that to other producers?
I would love to, but I just bought a house and find it hard to justify spending $650 on a phone, even this phone.

If you mean fully compatible with Sprint or T-Mobile radio bands, it probably depends on how much interest is shown. You might want to write to HTC and ask them to show there's a market.

From the looks of it, you are from California. Maybe I missed it somewhere while I was ordering, but from the looks of it while I was completing my order it didn't say ANYWHERE that people in California had to pay taxes. I canceled my ATT order to get the unlocked version since I was under the impression that there were no taxes on the unlocked version (about $45), then once I had already completed my order I was charged taxes. I thought that was absurd since nowhere before my order was complete did they add taxes to my order. Did this happen to you as well?
Very surprised. Now I wonder if I can get in store pickup instead of having to wait a couple of days..

It did for me. I was able to apply the Verizon30 discount and choose in-store pickup @ a local shop.
The problem I have now is to determine whether or not I actually want to pay for a device which yet has root and whose boot loader will likely remained locked..

Is this code directly through Verizon?
At BestBuy
Placed an order for it online at 9:30am this morning with in-store pickup.
Picked up mine SM-N900VZKE (made in china) at 10:30am at local BB store in Queens NY. Since I am keeping my unlimited data plan I've paid full retail price ($799.99) online then called BB Mobile and asked them to price match it with VZW. They verified thet the price listed on VZN is $699.99 and just credited me back $100.
I also tried to use Verizon30 code on verizonwireless dot com but it didn't work, at least for off-contract phone.
So far I like the phone. I can tell you that the screen is definitely brighter than the one on N2 (which was my primary complaint) and I feel that the sound volume is lower than on old phone. It is 13g lighter than N2 but the speakerphone is not as good.
Now all I need is a root

Yes
It only works if get the phone subsidized. I want to keep my unlimited data and it won't work if you pay full price.
I'm on the phone now with VZW rep and they are not finding this code. Can you all please provide specific details??

Possibly because it's sold from "Computers Canada"?
Why is there a country choice?

I did it and it was painless. I had my concerns but someone on another forum recommended a reputable dealer "e-bagel-tw" on eBay. He accepted my "best offer" price and the shipping was free. Since it's an international phone, it has to have AT&Ts LTE enabled after you get it. Some people have been panicking thinking they're stuck with 3G, but it's perfectly compatible once you download and install the right files.

Do you know a reliable source for these files? Just getting my ducks in a row.
I'm also on AT&T. I will say that I'd you don't already have the correctly enabled sim card, the system will give you a 3G only one of they enable the Z2 in your account. I had to go back and get them to fake the system into thinking I siding a different model so that it would provision LTE on my account.
Other than that, turn on LTE in the settings and use the system software to download the Internet settings and you're golden.
FYI, I dealt with the same seller and have the same comments about how great he is.

I wish I was paying more attention at the time. I took the phone to a local AT&T device support location in NYC when I realized I was not receiving data. The tech there couldn't figure it out at first either which is when mild panic started to set in and I backed off to let him fiddle with it. Eventually, he had a eureka moment when he stumbled upon a setting that required the download of a little file that allows the phone to connect to US LTE carriers. AT&T was one of the choices. Now in my phones settings: tools...wireless networks...more...internet settings...accept...and one of the three choices is ATT.
I'm going to order one as well. Probably will use the same seller.
