[Q] Uninstall a Theme - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can some one make a guide on How to Uninstall a theme?
I am on 1.83 with Xperia Arc theme by oliebur installed on it.
Because- The time is dark color on the black notification bar.

You would need some original 1.83 files to push back onto the phone. Most likely framework-res.apk, framework-res.jar, services.jar and maybe some others. I'm not sure if the originals are floating around on these forums but if they are then you would just need to use adb to push them back onto the phone.
**edit
Ok, so I tracked down the 1.83 de-odexed files on these forums and edited the arc theme installer so it installs the original versions of the files. Here is a link to the edited CWM installer to remove the theme instead of apply it.
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any softbricking that may happen to your device. I have only tested it on my phone only.
Download Atrix 1.83 Experia Arc Theme Remover - this restorer uses files from the deodexed 1.83 ATT Atrix. Only use this if you have a 1.83 deodexed ATT Atrix.

Thank You.
Mine is not a De-odexed Atrix.
Can i still use this remover?

Hmm, it seems strange to me that you are not deodexed since the experia arc installer replaces the framework-res.apk and services.jar. When you're odexed there is a services.jar and a services.odex, which are two parts of the same file and I would think that replacing services.jar with the xperia arc would cause problems. Let me do a little looking into whether or not this would have problems with an odexed system.
edit - Since it just replaces the xperia arc framework-res.apk and services.jar with the originals from the update then it should work for removing that theme. However, since you are odexed I am not 100% sure. Run a full backup from CWM just in case something goes wrong so that you'll be able to get back to where you were before you tried.

[Q] Gingerbread themed Dialer?

Hi everyone,
I followed reverendkjr's tutorial to install khalpower's v4 rom onto my phone. His tutorial starts with the miuioptimizedv3 rom first, then builds on it using updates.
Afterwards, I wasn't able to Metamorph anything, so I used ZipThemer to install owq's Gingerbread theme (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=955698), which worked! However, the Dialer did not get themed and remains in a broken MIUI theme (can provide screenshots if you'd like), and I am not sure how to theme it...
I would like the Gingerbread dialer that, if I remember correctly from Metamorphing in 2.1, came after applying owq's Metamorph. Is there any way to accomplish this in the state that I am in?
Cheers!
Looking at the Morph the only things I see changed are Framework-res.apk & services.jar. (Does the dialer pull graphics from framework-res ?) If it does I would think you could push the default dialer from Dexter's ROM.

Hey 3rdstring,
While I am trying to improve my android knowledge steadily, I have not tried pushing apks using adb before. Could you tell me how to go about this please?
Should have done more research
I found unyaffs, which decompresses nandroid backups, and decompressed the stock 1.3 nandroid. Then I pushed Contacts.apk and Phone.apk into /system/app, and tada it's Gingery
My memory failed me. The metamorph doesn't theme the dialer, but I remember the gingerbread dialer from using Khalpower's 'custom' apks from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9784619&postcount=13
I tried pushing Phone.apk and Contacts.apk from his files to a few emulators (eclair and froyo), but they both failed (I wonder if that's the fault of the emulator, not my device.) But then I pushed them to my device, and the apps wouldn't appear in the main menu anymore (also couldn't make any calls). Any other tips?

[Froyo]9 Lockscreen mod without small icons for JPU

Hi all.
First, all credits go to Kyrillos and Hillbeast cause they show me how to fix that
Sooo here we go : You wanna enable 9 lockscreen mod without these ugly small bug icons and you want that with every deodexed JPU rom ?
Follow those steps !
* Download this .zip : Download here
It contains the framework and the libs that enable 9 lockscreen mod.
* Now you have two choices:
- Either you flash by CWM directly, without changing anything, so you will have by default the theme of Kyrillos v9.0+.
If you do so, then you can flash all themes that are compatible with 9 lockscreen mod (Delete all the .jar files in the update !! And follow the theme installation of course )
- Either you change the .zip, by adding your own framework-res.apk and twframework-res.apk (Do not forget your themed apps, add a folder 'app' in /system (Use 7-Zip to do so))
WARNING : Do not remove / modify the lib folder or these three files from framework folder : framework.jar, services.jar and android.policy.jar
* Reboot your phone, and enjoy
Credits :
Kyrillos for helping and his modified framework
Hillbeast for show me the way of missing libs

Try wipe dalvik cache.
If it doesnt work, check that you have removed all .jar in the .zip of your theme. You only need jars files from my zip that you downloaded.
Then if it doesnt work too, post in the thread, the community will help you
You should add that it works on JPU. On any other froyo firmware it may be buggy.
Ah sorry yes..
I always forgot that Indians got an other firmware... Sorry, will modify that ^^'
If someone on ddjp6 could try and tell us, would be great
Sent from my Elora galaxy 3
Is this 9 lockscreen MOD?
Yes, it's a way to enable it in JPU (with a default theme : Kyrillos v9.0+, and all libs required)
After flash it, u can flash every theme which requires 9 lockscreen mod, like Miui 1.4.5 by Ghost in the Ruins for example
I'm currently on a stock JPU deodexed with the Miui 1.4.5 theme
So do i have to install kyrllios 9+?
Sorry for questions. I'm noob.
Certainly not
You can just flash this .zip from CWM without modified anything and enjoy with 9 lsm. By default, you'll get Kyrillos v9.0 THEME, just the theme ^^
Then, you can flash every theme you want that requires 9lsm
Nice share mate. This should solve the confusion. I will redirect my theme threads to here for users who are not on custom ROMs.
Is every lib file is necessary in the package you provided, because I noticed that one lib file is of terminal emulator.
I put libs files from Hillbeast.
I will modify it when i can
Sent from my Elora galaxy 3
After flashing the file (wiping dalvik-cache and cache) and rebooting my bootanimation appears but after that booting stucks and all I see is a black screen. It won't start at all.
I tried flashing the zip as it is and a zip containing my framework-res.apk and twframework-res.apk from a UOT-Kitchen-Theme. I also did a third zip containing my SystemUI.apk (which is not affected by my UOT Theme)
For replacing I used 7zip as recommended and also Total Commander.
I'm using a Custom deodexed JPU with converted filesystem as follows:
stl6 ext2
stl7 ext4
stl8 ext2
Any idea on fixing this? (I have a CWM-Backup, so nothing can get lost )

Is the framework that you put in the zip 9 lockscreen modded?? Either flash the zip as it is or put a framework-res.ap that is 9 lockscreen modded into the zip and flash,
And SystemUI.apk?? We don t have SystemUI.apk in Froyo. Please don t put that.
I flashed it as it is AND with my modded framework-res.apk and twframework-res.apk. So I flashed 2 different zips with restoring system and wiping caches between the flash operations. Both zips didn't work.
The SystemUI.apk I used is the one I took from my phone and I replaced the one in the zip for testing purposes.
Do I only have to replace the framework-res.apk and have to leave twframework-res.apk untouched?

No. twframework-res.apk is not modded for 9 locks. Its the same. If you flashed the zip as it is without replacing any files and it still didn t work?? Then I don t have any idea.:/
That's the problem. The provided zip doesn't work. I tried it.
alternative download link possible?
Hi all,
the link given in the first posting is dead -> goes to megaupload.
Would it be possible to get a mirror download link?
That would be very great.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers

Yup, sorry. Due to down of MU, i'll give us an alternate download link, but it's not on this PC.
If someone else could up it for me (i could up it in 2 days) thanks in advance for all.
Here's a mirror while megaupload is down or you reuped the zip by yourself.
http://ul.to/ku5rvvya
runs perfect!
thanks for the quick mirror!
works like a charme.
No stopping services, no reboots or freezes.
Libs are also exchanged... that´s new to me.
I assume that is the root cause for my problems, in exchanging the frameworks.
Have to accustom myself to the four symbols on lock screen. First try: opened the phone
and thanks to halco for distributing the file
and of course hillbeast and kyrillos mentioned already in the first posting

add 1% battery mod to odexed stock rom?

Can anyone tell me if its possible to add the 1% battery mod to a stock odex ics rom? I have a moto razr maxx. Is there a way i can mod this myself? I tried uot kitchen but it only shows increments of 10% on my phone.
Thanks!
Yes, it can be done. My phone's ROM is the stock odexed ROM and I have 1% battery increments. You need to edit framework-res.apk, you can use apktool or APK Multi Tool or whatever to unpack the APK, and rebuild it afterwards. To get 1% battery, you need to edit/replace some XMLs.
I'll try find a link to show how the XMLs should be and some commonly used icons.
EDIT: Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=724778
Find a style you like, download it and copy the two folders from inside into the "res" folder in your unpacked APK, overwriting any existing files (you may need to rename the drawable-hdpi-v4 folder depending on your phones resolution)
But UOT should work. Make sure in the "battery" section you changed at the top from "Custom battery" to "SCB with %" and then selected the style you want.

what phone do you have? i already tried the uot and it will not work. from what im understanding you would need to edit the systemUI.odex file to allow for battery % but i have no clue how to do it.

I have an HTC Explorer. But I believe the battery icon is stored in framework-res.apk, and not SystemUI.apk, so SystemUI.odex shouldn't be a problem (SystemUI.odex is the odex file of SystemUI.apk - you can't edit odexed apps, you would have to deodex SystemUI.apk first; this means combining the SystemUI.odex and SystemUI.apk files into one, deodexed SystemUI.apk, which can then be edited).
Although UOT may require you to upload a deodexed SystemUI.apk along with framework-res.apk, because some theme mods required SystemUI.apk. So you might need to get a deodexed SystemUI.apk. There's a guide to deodexing here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1208320
It is a slightly complicated process, but it's not impossible to figure out I don't know for sure if this is what you need to do to make it work though. Make sure you have a nandroid backup before you flash the theme
i guess ill wait for a dev to deodex the stock rom then. the uot kitchen states it can work on odex roms but in my case it does not.

Anything's possible... See HERE, HERE, and a mini re-odex tutorial HERE.
And, I believe there were some major framework/system changes in the transition from GB to ICS - so, the battery files may have moved to SystemUI from framework-res..

You'd also need to upload all the .jar and .odex files from /system/framework I think to make it possible to deodex systemUI.apk.
EDIT: If you do that, I should probably be able to deodex it for you. (Assuming that process hasn't changed for ICS, which I don't think it has). Once you have this file deodexed, you should be able to use UOT, it supports ICS battery mods.
EDIT: If you need an easy way to copy those files off the phone, you can try this: http://androidcommander.com/

Sorry, but I'm not too familiar with ICS yet... eagerly waiting Q3 for my phone.
Plus, I ported the battery from a deodexed set so I don't know all of the smali/xml edits involved if I were to do it from scratch...
You could still upload a whole system dump or cwm backup for me to look at ...if you wanted to. It'll let me get familiar with Moto's ICS..

Downloading now, provided it works I should have it up in 15 - 20 mins
EDIT: Appears it's a bit different, trying another approach now which will take a bit longer, but seems to be working for now at least (doing it this way means deodexing all the files).
EDIT: I'll try and get SystemUI.apk uploaded tonight, the rest will have to wait to tomorrow if you want them.
EDIT: There is a possibility I will need "init.rc" from the root of your device (i.e. not inside any folders like "system" or "data") to properly deodex all the files. A few seem to be giving errors and stuff.
Here's the (hopefully) deodexed SystemUI.apk [well, it IS deodexed, the "hopefully" refers to hopefully it's done right]. Try this with UOT (along with framework-res.apk, which isn't odexed in the first place), and as I said before, be sure to make a nandroid backup before hand.
You may also need to delete the SystemUI.odex file from your phone after applying the theme, I am not completely sure. If after applying the theme it has not worked, try doing so - worst case scenario you should be able to restore your nandroid backup if deleting the .odex file breaks something.

Thanks. I can try deodex all the jars and apks with that tomorrow if you want. For now, SystemUI.apk seems to have deodexed fine without it, so you can grab it above and try UOT with it (that's the only file UOT needs other than framework-res.apk which isn't odexed anyway). Let me know if it works

ill try it but if you think you could deodex everything that would be great.
used uot with the modded systemUI and it didn't work, still only getting 10% increments. i think the entire system/app & framework needs to be deodexed.

Just found this HERE - looks like a good 1% battery tutorial...
But, from the look of your system, you have battery files (images/xmls) in BOTH the SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk - how's that?
I don't think I'll be able to upload the deodexed files. It'd be a large file, and I don't really want to waste the bandwidth I'm afraid.
It's not a hard process for you to do though. There are two main options. Either buy Titanium Backup Pro for your phone, and then load it up and press menu, then "more" and then "Undo sys Dalvik integration..." which will deodex everything in /system/app (but not /system/framework), or else download this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=972719&d=1333088601 (I'd strongly recommend this second method)
Extract the ZIP, and place everything from /system/app in "_app" and everything from /system/framework in "_framework". Run AutoDEOToolMain.bat. Select option 2, then paste in this as the custom BootClassPath:
Code:
core.jar:core-junit.jar:bouncycastle.jar:ext.jar:framework.jar:framework-ext.jar:android.policy.jar:services.jar:apache-xml.jar:filterfw.jar:com.motorola.android.frameworks.jar:com.motorola.android.widget.jar:com.motorola.frameworks.core.addon.jar
Let it run, and all the deodexed files will be in the deodexed folders. Any files that weren't deodexed will be in the original folders.
This is really quite an easy process, so I'm sure you could achieve it yourself.
EDIT: There still seem to be a couple of errors with the above BootClassPath, the following two JARs seem to be missing: /system/framework/kafdex.jar and /system/framework/com.motorola.orange.simauth.jar (I removed them from the BootClassPath because the JARs were missing, if you can find these two JARs add :kafdex.jar:com.motorola.orange.simauth.jar to the end of the above BootClassPath and put the two JARs in "_framework". Then I think you will be able to deodex every JAR and APK. Without them, most still seem to work though. (A number of the APKs in /system/app do not deodex properly. A little googling has shown me that motorola often neglect to include com.motorola.orange.simauth.jar on their phones [probably to try and stop deodexing] and this is the main problem)
EDIT: Try using this tool to mod your battery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434061
Use the deodexed SystemUI.apk along with the standard framework-res.apk, and download one of the 1% battery mods from that thread. I really don't think the rest of the system apps being odexed should cause an issue.

Change pattern lock dots?

Hello,
I own a ZTE Crescent- Rooted/CWM recovery running CM7.
I was messing around with using CM9 and I like it but it isn't up for the kind of usage I'd like to use it for so I went back to CM7. One thing I really liked about CM9 was the pattern lock dots- On ICS they are a lot thinner and look slicker, whilst on GB they are thick and bulky and I dislike them.
So my question is; Would it be possible to flash a zip in CWM to change the pattern lock dots on my device? Or any other method?
Thanks,
Curtis.
It's certainly possible. You need to edit framework-res.apk. Within the apk, the images you want to edit I think are in /res/drawable-hdpi/(possibly in other drawable-XXXX folders as well). You need to edit/replace the following files I believe:
btn_code_lock_default.png
btn_code_lock_touched.png
indicator_code_lock_drag_direction_green_up.png
indicator_code_lock_drag_direction_red_up.png
indicator_code_lock_point_area_default.png
indicator_code_lock_point_area_green.png
indicator_code_lock_point_area_red.png
Not completely sure, you might be able to do it fairly easily with UOT Kitchen: http://uot.dakra.lt/kitchen/ (I can't check now as the kitchen is full, so I'm not sure if it supports theming the unlock pattern or not). If not, you can use apktool to unpack the APK, then edit the images you want changed, then repack it with apktool.
The other option is to use MetaMorph. It's an app you install on your phone for theming. Then download a lock pattern theme like this one: http://droidpirate.com/2011/01/15/metamorph-lock-pattern-liberty/, unzip it and replace the images inside with your own, then re-zip and use MetaMorph to install it. (Probably simpler than using apktool to manually edit the APK).
Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it!
I've gone with the metamorph option, seems much easier to do and I've used it once or twice in the past so I have a general idea on how to use it!
Thanks again
I couldn't find a theme for what I wanted- None even came close for Metamorph, so I decided to try and make my own. Unfortunately; I'm now stuck.
I copied the files you mentioned from the CM9 rom to the CM7 framework apk. I have the original CM7 framework app with the new icons in and a zip version of the framework with the files also in there. Now what should I do?
If anyone with more experience wants to take over then here are the files.
APK:
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B5IQUxhoTn2XVVJiek01OGRNek0
ZIP:
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B5IQUxhoTn2XWnRGVDhIdzRsa0k
I'd say the easiest way is to grab the metamorph theme I linked above, unzip it and replace the images inside with the ones you took from CM9. Then zip it back up and install using metamorph.
Trying it now, phone has just rebooted, time to check lock screen.
Edit-
Nothing has changed.
Hmm. I have no idea then, sorry.

UOT kitchen works on stock

For those interested, I managed to get UOT kitchen to create a new set of status bar icons for my rooted stock (Vodafone) rom on my HOX+.
I am unsure whether any of the other UOT images will work, but for the status bar, I have changed the default images to the Hoolm circle battery icon, the wifi icon and signal icon all changed. Looks very nice compared to the boring HTC icons.
I just kept all the settings as default in the kitchen and uploaded the: framework-res.apk, systemui.apk and com.htc.resources.apk
The cooked zip won't flash in twrp (it may in cwm), I just unpacked the zip and pushed the framework files manually. Rebooted and it worked.
I knew UOT had updated the kitchen for ICS and JB but was not sure if it was ready for Sense 4.
http://uot.dakra.lt/
Apologies if this was already posted, just thought some might be interested as many would enjoy customizing the stock status bar. Advisable to make a rom backup first before playing around with the framework files.

Thanks for this information, I've been waiting for jellybean support for various devices that I have owned but eventually gave up looking at the kitchen as nothing appeared to be happening. I have cooked a battery mod uot zip at the kitchen which will not flash through clockwork recovery.
Can I just clarify that you got this to work on an ODEXED stock rom?? Can you also clarify which files that you pushed with your file explorer as I uploaded all three files that you mentioned to the kitchen but my zip only contained framework-res.apk and systemUI.apk??
I am a bit wary to do it this way as I can't create a restore zip with the original files as it won't flash.
