Ive cooked together a ROM for the Nexus One based on the Stock FRG83, Android 2.2.1. I have tailored it to my needs but I feel like sharing. If anyone have requests, feel free. I want to keep it as close to stock as possible but with a few nifty features.
Concept: A near stock experience of Android 2.2.1, rooted and deodexed with an updated kernel and the notification sounds from HTC Sense, as I find them to be nicer than the stock Android ones (which are also included).
Features
* Android 2.2.1 FGR83
* Rooted and Deodexed
* Busybox Installed
* Trackball Alert Framework
* Updated stock kernel with latest commits (built 20102010)
* HTC Sense Notification sounds added (31 notification sounds)
* 4.06.00.12.7 Radio included (OPTIONAL)
** No added apps, no custom launchers, etc.. **
- Rock stable with solid battery life -

Feedback appreciated!
Trackball alert and Wake would be cool.
P.S. Probably want to remove Swype. The Mods will definitely be on you for this. Just trying to save you the hassle.
Yeah, I figured the integrated Swype would be an issue. Guess Ill make an XDA-friendly version ^^...
Thanks for the feedback!
This sounds great, will keep checking
Trackball alerts is in
Released! enjoy!
Sorry, I forgot to push over the new bcm4329.ko. While I was at it, I integrated my MMS Max Sending size tweak!
Should be all good now!
Please remove the radio. im currently using the 5x, and dont want to downgrade.
I oppose trackball alert, we need it as stock as possible remember?

It's good to have the Framework "Trackball Alert Ready", but not include it. I use it, but I have the pro version, and sometimes when the included non-pro version comes with the ROM, it conflicts or has issues when trying to get the Pro version installed/running.
Ah, but the app isnt included, only the framework. I guess I should rephrase that one!

Thank you! Its the first ROM I've made but Ive wanted to do it for ages.
Didnt know the black bars were so popular. Ill see what I can do
I would like the following to be added as they are the only things keeping me from running stock:
1. Music controls on lock screen
2. Trackball unlock (I don't want trackball wake so maybe a choice between the two?)
Thanks

Hi, all. Im on Galaxy S II - rom 2.3.6. Can i install this CyanogenMod+X? Or should i install some other rom before? Thanks in advance.
flashed the rom, running very smooth..
only thing you might want to change in the prop file is;
ro.com.google.locationfeatures = 0
ro.com.google.networklocation = 0
these ones are enabled by default now

do you have a CWM recovery installed? install a CWM recovery, put this ROM on your sdcard, boot into said recovery, make a nandroid backup of your current ROM, wipe data/cache/system, flash this ROM, then reboot system and enjoy. if this is your first time flashing, take some time to read information in the stickied threads in this forum first.
but yes, you can. I'm running this ROM and I was on CheckROM (KK5) prior.

probably not as the FM radio from Samsung likely depends on Samsung framework which AOSP ROMS (like Cyanogenmod) do not have.

I have been having numerous issues trying to get ICScrewd to run on my phone and I am almost certain its a kernel issue.
It was suggested that I swap out the kernel before flashing and that sounds like a great idea to me.
Except...... I don't know how.
Is it as simple as taking the zImage from the kernel zip I want and placing it in the rom zip I want?
Can I ignore the META-INF folder or do I need to somehow merge that over too?
I am sure there is a wiki or a how-to on this but I have looked and cant find it. Its probably because I don't know phrase my search.
But anyway, if someone could point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.

Yup it is that simple, just replace the file with the one you want.
You can also clean up with kernel cleaning script then flash entropy kernel in recovery

My poor phone locks up even in recovery running Siyah. Its crazy.
I am going to try this like you suggested in your thread.
I should be reporting back soon.
It worked!
So far, so good.
I havent had a single locked up screen or SOD since I flashed.
Thanks guys!

Just curious since I have never tried a mod with any major changes, what are the benifits of changing out the Kernel, and what are the differences between them?

For myself the benefit was actually being able to run the ICScrewd rom at all.
In my experience of several years of flashing, some kernels just wont work with some phones.
It sound odd and all that, but my real world experience has led me to give each kernel I am interested in several tried and if they continually crash my phone I move on. I have no idea why this would be. Coming from the Captivate I tried all sorts of kernel and rom combinations. If they didn't work well I just moved on.
As far as different kernels go, some have better battery life than others due to built in tuning I believe. They can be cleaned up to help your phone run faster. And obviously from my experience here in this thread, help your phone be stable.
Excuse my noobness, please. I figured this would be a pretty relevant thread to post this question.
I flashed Siyah 2.6.9 via Odin and then in recovery installed ICScreweD. Did doing so revert my kernel to the older version of Siyah used in the rom?
If so, can I just flash in the newer version using Odin or should I research another method?
This is my first root/mod so I'm still a little nervous about messing up.

yes this reverted to the older kernel included in the rom, to flash the newest kernel. Load the zip of the kernl onto your sd card, enter CWM and flash the zip. Much easier to do than with odin.
Thanks! I was pretty sure that was the case but figured I should ask anyway. I've been lurking these forums for a while and it's awesome how helpful this community is to everyone.
While on the subject of ICScreweD, is there anything I will lose by going to the green edition? The website is kinda unclear as to if there are any features not yet available in the green edition.

FireWalkerX Pure 1.0.55
------------------------------------
This rom is based on CM10 latest with my own optimizations
Feature List:
------------------
* Optimisations for better battery life
* OTA app for updates (Supports partial updates)
* BurningX Version 1.0 Kernel based on Siyah kernel (siyah and others based on it does not support OTA!)
* Gestures - 8 different gestures currently build in - see this thread
* Supports extweaks from version 1.0.33-hotfix
* Bluetooth Stereo supported
Download the file FWXPure-x.x.xx-NOGAPPS-signed.zip and gapps-jb-signed.zip and flash both
dont worry, if you forget to download the gapps zip, OTA will have it as an update.
Update: there is a minor glitch in the ast part, sometimes it will do the last patch, sometimes you have to do it by hand (its easy, your allready in recovery mode, just select
install zip, then zip from internal sdcard look inside OTA-Updater/download/firewalkerx-pure-1.0.40.zip fix is coming when i can figure out why it doesnt work on the last
when it works on gapps, there is no kernel update in gapps... strange...
adding features and mods that i find worth putting in
Pictures coming (for now, imagine CM10, since nothing has been changed on the UI yet)
Big thanks to:

i will post OTA Updates when bugs are fixed, or new features are added.
Im going to split it into to branches in the next release:
* Stable for those who wants updates once in a while
* Unstable for those who wants to live on the edge.
Default version posted to OTA will be stable, to go to the unstable branch,
all you will have to do is download the unstable-branch.zip after installing version 1.0.55 and zip it in recovery it will be small.
then you will be on the unstable OTA.

im experimenting with the ]dorimanx kernel right now, so i might push that one out instead of the one included with a new update within a few days...
after some consideration, ive come to the conclusion that ill go for siyah instead...
it will be included in the next ota, tomorrow or friday...
I have postponed the use of siyah, and siyah based kernels, i need to figure out why applying OTA triggers samsungs 3e recovery instead of the cwm based recovery, which makes it imposible to apply OTA patch automatically...

I understand ! ! But i flashed latest syiah (4.1rc1) for now without problems.
Bettery seems good. If ota works we will see after you`ve posted a new update. Will try by ota!
Day 2 day usage works quite well on siyah. Only problem is the automated appliance of OTA which doesn't work because all siyah based kernels include samsungs own OTA updater which only accepts Samsung signed packages
After using your rom for more than a day now i have to say job well done sir.
Im a fan of Dorimanx kernel but something went wrong from version .63 onwards. its had the perfect balance between performence and battery life (for my personal usage of course), But, Since i gotta keep on flashing, i flashed GMs latest siyah and must say its running pretty well, sad bout the OTA packages have to be signed by Samsung, oh well, we cant have it all, can we?

Some flashable mods, thanks to Leraeniesh for the tip

This is awesome man! So tiny! Would be awesome to build MIUI5 on this little baby! Any plans for a GSM version eventually? I'm sure a GSM version would build fine, if not then we could just try using the ril-related libs from CM10
Great! Congrats on this ROM, hope to see some GSM for later releases! good to see more love coming to our beloved XPlays!
I can try porting GSM version...
Wouldn't it be better to help cj's source builds? Splitting/kanging the project is not the best idea.

Very nice! I'm definitely going to try this out. 24MB is freaking tiny for a ROM. :3 I'll get back to you on results.

If want to sure, but like Dan said it might be easier for me since I just need to change from Zeusc to Zeus. Let me know if you really want to otherwise I'll probably be putting up a version for gsm users.

Next build has the mirror issue fixed and it does not need the lagfix zip. I'm still working on the kernel, just cause recovery is still broken on it.
Good luck with the kernel thing, I got no idea lol...
Maybe a GSM port wouldn't be so bad. Since I would like to make an MIUI5 based on this, if we can just replace libs and/or hack the framework smali to use GSM, that would make MIUI5 easier to support both CDMA and GSM.
Or even if, when you get around to it - build one GSM version and if I find the differences in framework and libs myself then you wouldn't have to worry about building twice every time. For once it'll be a ROM which is CDMA built and needs a GSM Patch instead of the other way around
I use cm10 sources for the kernel maybe that will have a better outcome.

It looks like sechko made a thread for this port already for gsm

Noticed after I posted, hoping to include wedges' camera fix as well if I can figure out recovery. Probably work on it this weekend.
Sounds good I'm actually waiting for the next release before I decide to download and try it out. I was waiting for milestone 1 for aokp.. I haven't tried pacman.. I plan on using this one

Heya bro I finally got a chance to try this out, awesome sauce really. I built my own kernel based on KRsH (same as the MIUI Oz ROM) and manually updated genlock/fb code for Jellybean, super fast! But I had a few issues with the ROM, kept failing on buffer locks and falling back to software rendering (whenever you scroll). Here's the log:
Code:
?: E/libgenlock(462): perform_lock_unlock_operation: GENLOCK_IOC_DREADLOCK failed (lockType0x1,err=Connection timed out fd=51)
?: W/Adreno200-EGLSUB(462): <GetBackBuffer:2121>: genlock_lock_buffer GENLOCK_WRITE_LOCK failed
?: W/Adreno200-ES20(462): <gl2_surface_swap:43>: GL_OUT_OF_MEMORY
?: W/Adreno200-EGL(462): <qeglDrvAPI_eglSwapBuffers:3477>: EGL_BAD_ALLOC
?: W/HardwareRenderer(462): EGL error: EGL_BAD_ALLOC
?: W/HardwareRenderer(462): Mountain View, we've had a problem here. Switching back to software rendering.
And I solved it by using all these files from latest CM10 ROM:
Code:
lib\libgenlock.so
lib\libGLESv1_CM.so
lib\libGLESv2.so
lib\libGLES_trace.so
lib\egl\egl.cfg
lib\egl\eglsubAndroid.so
lib\egl\libEGL_adreno200.so
lib\egl\libGLESv1_CM_adreno200.so
lib\egl\libGLESv2S3D_adreno200.so
lib\egl\libGLESv2_adreno200.so
lib\egl\libGLES_android.so
lib\egl\libq3dtools_adreno200.so
lib\hw\audio.a2dp.default.so
lib\hw\audio.primary.default.so
lib\hw\audio.primary.msm7x30.so
lib\hw\audio_policy.default.so
lib\hw\audio_policy.msm7x30.so
lib\hw\camera.semc.so
lib\hw\copybit.msm7x30.so
lib\hw\gps.goldfish.so
lib\hw\gps.semc.so
lib\hw\gralloc.default.so
lib\hw\gralloc.msm7x30.so
lib\hw\hwcomposer.msm7x30.so
lib\hw\keystore.default.so
lib\hw\lights.semc.so
lib\hw\local_time.default.so
lib\hw\power.default.so
lib\hw\sensors.default.so
lib\hw\sensors.goldfish.so
And now it's ultra-smooth and fast. I did not flash the lagfix by the way.
Anyway, if you want to look at my kernel i just pushed the last changes to my GitHub - under KRsH repo, jellybean branch. Remember that this is NOT a CM10 kernel! It is based on my KRsH-based stock ICS kernel with Jellybean updates it also has a ramdisk in there too with my own minor mods. Another thing to note is that it has 280MB on system and 8MB on cache and the ramdisk will symlink /cache/dalvik-cache to /data/dalvik-cache. So a full format/FTF flash will be required if you don't remove the mtdparts from kernel commandline.
Cheers! Now to start working on MIUI5....
Sounds awesome! I have a break between my classes maybe i can futx with it.

that's weird that you had the issue with the failing buffer locks. the first build has that issue which is why I added the lagfix, but I build with cm's hardware and I couldn't get what was causing it.
Here's the next beta build. It doesn't need the lagfix from aokp any more and I'm pretty sure the frame buffer issue was something from slimbean and I believe they fixed it.

I'll be editing the 2nd post so it has the downloads and maybe clean up the OP Friday or Saturday.
Nice work !

I'm trying to build a kernel from his sources if that's what you mean. Between cm10's hardware and slimbean'srecent update those errors should be gone. Also for whatever reason slimbean likes the older GB music player, I don't so apollo, Trebuchet, and cm10's new file manager will be included in the next build.
Hey cj do you think you can add the Xperia s or another keyboard instead of the crappy small default jb/ics one?
