Battery Charged Notifications - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm using the community rom 1.2 with TSM and I was wondering if it's possible to restore the battery charged notification function.
I actually don't mind it, and I like knowing when my phone is charged so I can leave the house. I waited a while today, thinking my phone was charging but it was done w/o a notification! Thanks for any input

Search forums how to re enable, I think it's around here somewhere on how to enable and disable. If not post in com rom thread asking adryn for a patch.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App

Thanks for the response. I've been browsing for about 15 minutes and can't find it, but I'll keep looking around.

this is not something you can easily disable/enable using hidden menu through dialer like before bc sbrissen has done some editing onto service.jar
you can try to ask him to do it for you (doubtful though bc it takes even more work to undo his mods)
or to do it yourself with his assistance
or the easy way is to replace it with stock service.jar but you will lose a few mods
and make sure you back it up before replacing, just in case

Thanks jk0l, what mods do you think are in services.jar? I'm planning to just reflash community rom with your strategy of putting the stock deodexed services.jar

the service.jar includes batt popup, carrier name in pulldown notif, time and date together
those are the ones that I know of

[MOD] I9000 *matte* skin and accurate battery *10/5/2010*

First and foremost, this would not have originally been possible without all the hard work zimphishmonger and the3dman13 did to bring fighspit's original battery mod to the vibrant, please see the original thread here, and give them some thanks! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=756441
I'm also borrowing zimphishmonger's warning, as i think it works to keep warning messages standard across all these battery mod threads.
WARNING: ALWAYS make a nandroid backup prior to installing any modification, including this one. You are making the decision to install this on your own, and I am not responsible for anything nuclear that may happen to your device.
UPDATE.. I lost count (10/5/2010)
So I dig Eugene's Frankin-twiz rom's, but I still want to keep my accurate battery mod, and well, I think his glossy-black skin is ugly. I also think the stock vibrant touchwiz skin is ugly (for the love of all that's holy samsung, why did you decide the vibrant would be the ONLY galaxy s phone to get your stupid glossy version of touchwiz?!)
So, I ported my battery mod to frankin-twiz and at the same time, ripped all the matte (non glossy) drawable's from the I9000 touchwiz skin, and added in my colored status/signal, mms, calendar, music player, and gmail icons, restored the black background for the power control widget, added HTC's weather icons to GenieWidget.apk, changed to the stock I9000 bootup and shutdown animation and sounds, and of course, I probably missed something else too, lol. You can see some (semi-outdated) screenshots here: http://picasaweb.google.com/113127051130934911253/AndroidStuff?feat=directlink
Also, if you find yourself being a typography nerd like me, you can use this zip to switch the default system font to Comfortaa I take NO CREDIT WHATSOEVER for making the original font, or the android port, I only re-packaged the files into a Clockwork-mod zip file for the vibrant. This will also change the lockscreen clock font to comfortaa, but ONLY if using the default android lockscreen.
Comfortaa system fonts: http://www.4shared.com/file/hYu1TYHL/Comfortaa_system_fonts_ONLY.html
New for ftwiz_final: I'm including an extra version with the samsung calendar AND the AOSP mms app, per Eugene's thread, since it resolves issues with being unable to send sms/mms messages. I'm also including the newest version of my battery mod (this is the version I personally like best and use daily), based on the upright/vertical icons, but with colored borders/outline, and a smoother charging animation (thanks to untermensch!) This can be applied on its own, after you flash either of the other versions. If flashed without flashing one of the other versions first, it DOES NOT contain the gmail/calendar/mms/music player icons, or the startup & shutdown animations and sounds. You can see a screenshot added to the post below too.
Download links here, ftwiz_final ONLY:
Removed, sorry, too many people use other people's work without giving credit, and it leads to way too many headaches, he-said/she-said, ignorance, etc.
Everything should flash via clockwork recovery fine, place the zip on the root of your INTERNAL /sdcard directory, reboot into clockwork, I recommend wiping the cache & dalvik-cache, then install zip from sdcard, locate the specific zip, reboot.
Enjoy, cheers everyone, and if you come in here posting bugs/whining for help without first making sure you cleared your cache and dalvik-cache, then I'm just going to ignore you,
Looks Great!!!
Thanks alot works well on my phone
i love it! not a big fan of the round battery icon, so this is great
Great work! Glad to see everyone is making their own customized battery images. We are gonna have a battery collection soon.
just a quick update to the OP with a new version with some colored/themed status icons.
cheers

I did, switched from the green circle. The battery indicator works fine.
I used the circle one but saw this with the other colored icons and thought they were cool. Seems that they don't quite work properly. Stock the GPS indicator shows in the notification bar any time it's on. With the new icons from the op the indicator is only on if I'm in an app that is using the GPS. I'm going to flash back to stock then to the battery only mod (i figure I need to to switch the other icons?)

Hi,
Thanks for trying it out. I have no idea how there might be issues since this is literally just img replacement from the segmented green circular battery mod, so however icons should work with that mod, is how they should work with this mod.
Maybe run a fix permissions from rom manager and see if that helps?
Also, my GPS icon has never worked like you described, even stock, (in other words, mine isn't always visible in notification bar, even when not in an app actively using gps, its displayed only when using an app that needs GPS, and disappeared when exiting the app.)
If you want to try and modify your own framework-res.apk with these files, I may upload just my png images once I'm done replacing/coloring all the icons I feel like modifying.
Thanks again for trying it out though, cheers
Lastly, I got bored and colored the wifi icons, cell-signal icons, and vibration indicator icon, I'll post the framework-res.apk in the first post, but won't package a new update.zip until I decide I'm done modifying icons, lol.

Excellent work! I like the new colored signal icons. Consider possibly creating a metamorph of it, as they are very easy to update.

Thanks for the help in getting everyone started with the battery mod, now I just need to decide when enough is enough for theming icons, lol.
Anyway, I'm about to head to bed, but I'm attaching a zip with the signal icons I modded, so if anyone wants to make a metamorph, go ahead, just please give a link back to this thread when/if you post.

So I went back to stock to check and you're right. I must have imagined that.
I'll be switching back to your colored icons and battery now.
And as soon as you are done changing the icons and create a zip I'll switch to those. I like the color.

Hey again,
Glad I wasn't screwing up phone's, lol.
Anyway, I'm still working on changing all the icons, can't seem to decide where to stop yet, since now I've started modifying icons for other apps, gmail, mms, google voice, trillian, etc. And of course, now that I've gone with a slightly brighter green in the other icons, I may go back and tweak the color of my battery icon to match.
Anyway, here's a screenshot of some of the icons I'm mostly finished with (though for some reason I'm not digging the alarm icon, anyone have color suggestions for it?)
cheers,

Yeah...sorry about that. Anyway I hate that stupid icon to begin with so maybe something totally different? I did a GIS for alarm clock icon and there are a lot of possibilities. I think that maybe the stock one with a red square and white clock could be good.
Edit: Maybe something like this

If you don't already have it, I suggest you install Koush's Clockwork Recovery. You can install it quickly by using ROM Manager.
Once you boot into the recovery ROM, you can back up your entire phone using Nandroid (highly advised) and then you're free to experiment to your heart's content.
Now back to your question: you can save the file to your internal SD card and search for it using the 'Install from SD' (or something like that) option in the Clockwork ROM, install it and reboot.
Good luck, friend.
What's the right way to revert this? framework-res.apk restore?
Updated OP with newest mod.
I think I'm done with this for a while now, though I might zip all the png files if someone else wants to try and make this into a morph when the app gets updated.

Hi,
Yes, restoring your backed-up framework-res.apk will restore the battery mod. If you used the newer zip that also includes the Gmail icon mod, then you'll need to restore Gmail.apk too /system/app too.

Mod please remove. Fixed & Answered

I was just wondering if I can add some of the features like, the recent apps & quick settings in the notifications bar? I would also like the black dialer apk, the black market apk and the black mms apk.
I tried applying those mods but it froze at the bolt screen and my ui buttons were lit up, waited 15 min then did a batt pull. Gonna restore then had to re-flash.
I wouldn't also mind getting the visual voice mail to work. Now when it works I shouldn't have to pay verizon's fees right? Cause right now i have the option to use it but they charge me like $2.99 or something. I flashed via CWR and nothing?
Google Voice will do vvm. You need to provide more info. What ROM are you running?

What theme are you using... most of them incorporate the reboot option... unless your using a custom theme... Might try flashing something like gingerblur, or one of the other popular themes in this forum. Then you can edit the framework-res.apk to your liking, replace what ever icons you want back, and you'll have the reboot option as well. Sorry, I'm ot sure how to just add the reboot option though... sure it will require the editing of services.jar or the framework-res.apk.
the theme im using doesnt have it. i want to modify the theme and add it but im no sure what i need to do to add that feature.. does anyone know how?

You could use my MotoBlur theme as a base for your theme. Its just the stock theme with 1% battery and reboot added.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076655
The reboot option is added by editing android.policy.jar.

Tried it the other day for 2.3.4... incredibly difficult... well, maybe not so much difficult, as it is trying to find a complete set of directions... Apparently, the devs used a combination of two different threads that were written for different phones... so the code lines don't match up and it was a damn cluster **** to try an figure out, so I gave up... Kenneth said this will be implemented on his next update for 2.3.4.
I wish I still had the pages saved, but I deleted them after trying to do this for a couple of hours, so I wouldn't be tempted to try it again. Ask in the IRC chat, there are a few people there that can direct you to the right place if you want to attempt, and good luck.
Bump, anyone find a good source for how to do this on gb? I'm not having luck finding the info.

No one's been able to do it yet as far as I know. The gingerbread file structure associated with the reboot option has changed so much that it is incredibly difficult. I had heard a report that Designgears may have figured it out, but I think it was probably a false report, as no Atrix Dev has yet to incorporate it into a ROM or theme.

Just another update... DG said to me a while back that he was able to add the options, but they screwed up the current options so none of them worked. He did not get it working for the Cognition beta.
I tried my hand as well, but couldn't figure it out.
I used gscript and just made a shortcut on my desktop. Works great.
Is it adding the button to the menu that breaks it?

I tried as well, and all I got was me turning my power button into a reset button, options wouldn't show up.. so there was no way to turn it off, it would just reset my phone when ever I tried to pull up the Phone options..
I was working on this a little bit once I got GB update. I am like 80% the way through it. I can link to what I am going off of-
From the Vibrant Forums
I had all the files edited and ready to rock, the problem I was at was the RECOMPILING. I think I was missing some dependencies.
I got all the way up to that point and had to go home for the day at work- never picked it back up. If I get some time at work today I'll give it another crack.
If I get anywhere I'll post my framework-res.apk.
I followed the steps from that thread too and while I could build/compile everything fine and get the options to show in the menu none of the reboot options would work. Seems we're all having similar issues with this.

I was following that thread as well, and my issue was stated above, then I saw this from the DX2 forum, which has GB and on his change log, he stated he added reboot options.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1198857
I grabbed his theme, compared the framework.jar, framework-res.apk, and android.policy.jar files.. they pretty much match up with ours. So, using Notepad++, I did a compare between the files, added what he added, basically looks like the same things from the vibrant how-to. This time around, when I press for the power options, it comes up normal, but the link to the 'reboot' does not show up... I might try this without the battery %, as that takes up alot of the hex id....
I'm thinking we might need to add that line from DG that he did a while back for the first reboot options on froyo...
I also have no problems with recompile... I'll mess around with it some more when I have free time.. I don't spend much time inside during the summers..
has anyone decompiled the framework-res from the g2x's gb build or maybe even CM? Not USE the framework of course, but maybe see what flags that policy uses for a reboot?
edit* seems like previous posted may have tried what I asked. back to the digi drawing board...

[MODS][2.3.5] Pulldown Toggles + DEODEX + (11/12/11)

This is for those of you checking out the 2.3.5 update and are missing their toggles.. Ported from the Atrix 2.3.4 X2 port. Feel free to use these for any 2.3.5 based ROM's that may be under development. Added a second darker option with cyan status as opposed to the stock with lighter and green status.
Toggle zips are flashable in recovery.
DEODEXED 2.3.5
system/app
system/framework
These zips are not flashable they contain the files only. Push them in adb and remove any odex files, and delete dalvic-cache.
Bump for changes...

Sigh.
To nip this one in the butt because I know its coming:
And before you ask, I know Eclipse has toggles on the notification bar. The problem is, and its the only problem I have with this amazing ROM, IMO there are just too many damn toggle buttons on the default eclipse bar most of which are totally useless.
Basically what I am looking for is the following:
Wifi -> Bluetooth - > GPS -> Data -> Screen Rotate Lock -> Flashlight
If there is a way to set up a screen brightness quad toggle (Auto, 1%, 50%, 100%) like "Power Control Plus" had before it was broken by Gingerbread, I would love that button between GPS and Data On/Off Toggle. If not, there is no reason for a toggle just to turn off auto brightness.
-Turning off Data will also stop syncing, not sure why we need a second notification toggle in Eclipse to disable Google Sync, unless that was a reboot toggle? Didn't try it before screwing up my notification bar but it looks like the Google sync toggle icon. Is this really necessary on a notification pull down? Unless most people use it several times a day, its really redundant.
-Screen Rotation Lock is a MUST. I don't understand how people get by not having a link to this option, obviously do not use their phone in bed, lying on a couch, hell IMO I don't think they use their phone at all accept sitting in some perfect posture position. Trying to catch up on the news before bed is a nightmare with the damn screen flipping back and forth as my phone is at a perfect 45 degree angle. It drives me nuts...NUTS!
The Sound toggle for me is redundant too as all I have to do to silent the phone is hit the power button and swipe. Its actually less work then hitting the power button, unlocking the phone, swiping the notification bar, and then hitting the toggle. Two steps vs four steps and with it already built into the lock screen, there is no need for squeezing it onto the notification bar which is already slam packed with toggle goodness.
The way I look at notification bar toggles are they should only be buttons you use several times a day or in an emergency, like the flashlight. The more crap you slam onto that bar, the smaller the buttons get and the harder it is to hit the right one. Secondly, its just cluttered. Redundancy with Data toggles, Sync Toggles, Airplane Mode, etc just add clutter.
Reminds me of MotoBlur... Bloated.
Is stock android too much to ask from Google/Motorola? I am so fed up with manufactures crap.
And no on the Droid Prime. Crap sub-par quality screen, no TransFlash (MicroSD), Duel Core POS TI processor when nVidia has Quad's (which are really 5 cores) in new phones by February. Sorry, I have one early upgrade left and then two years before I can upgrade again (My DX2 is an insurance replacement for a DX) because of Verizons BS removing early upgrades. My next phone has to last and two years from now a duel core phone will feel like its from the 90's. Maybe if the Prime was actually released on time it could have been a different story, but no TransFlash was basically a deal breaker. If I wanted out dated crap technology sold at a premium I would use an iPhone.

Edit sorry I even took up more space here Mastfunk, please have mine and hi$ posts deleted.
Now the intelligent thing I should have done is actually toggle those widgets first instead of assuming. I guess that's what I get for being an ass.
I actually missed sleep last night because I had to rebuild two other family members phones, an Original Droid and a Droid X, on top of mine. Haven't slept since the night before last.
Edited my post because I was ranting to myself in the post, not directed at anyone else. No nandroid till I am 100% set up "stock" the way I want it before apps, IE: I would have nandroid after this update.
I am at the point with SBF'ing where even if I brink the thing, I no longer get that feeling of butterflys in my stomach because i know after a few hours of messing around its going to get fixed. The first time I had that fun sick feeling that made fixing it so much more of an accomplishment. All it does for me now is cause headaches. I am SO at the point where I just want whatever technology I am using to work without bugs.
BTW, if you have ever used the voice software in a Chrysler vehicle, you know what I was going through before that post. My rents stopped by so I could return their newly rom-updated devices. My mother wanted me to set up BT with her car, and have it sync the phone book. You think M$ Sync is bad? I need to smoke an entire pack of cigs after dealing with that cars automated *itch "AI". To use the term AI, you would think it would have SOME intelligence; you would be wrong.
Sorry for the rant.

Well, I am glad you didn't, but I still feel like an ass! LOL. Hopefully though, that post will prevent someone else from following in my footsteps.
You know whats even more annoying, now I want to figure out WHY it didn't work. There has to be something in Eclipse SystemUI.apk that's different then the one in this thread. I really wanted to go take a nap, but now I really want to pick apart both versions of SystemUI and see where they are different.
Why can't this planets days be longer...
Fantastic! No problem flashing. Thanks. Is there a way to change what is toggled? I would rather toggle brightness instead of Bluetooth.

Removing a mod that's baked into a rom

I've searched but since I really am horrible at searches I probably overlooked or missed some posts that may be concerning this already.....for that I appologize.
The short of it I have a rom that has 3minit baked into the rom, and I would like to remove it and just use the stock battery. That's all I want to do, I don't want to mod any part of the rom except for that part.
Further explination:
Phone is a sprint S4 sph-l720T.
The easier stuff is the better for me, so if we can keep this on lamens terms it'd be useful for me, so what I'm after is...
I am rooted, and have a TW rom, but I want to make it my own so ta speak and I won't be releasing this to anyone.....even then I will contact the original maker of the rom and get permission to do so and give credit where it is do...to the rom maker.
So I have deleted said apps in system/app and system/priv-app, all but what's stock. One thing though I cannot seem to get rid of is 3minit battery app. There is a 3minit settings apk and a 3minit updated apk.
I would like to get rid of 3minit because I really don't use any battery modding at all, I'm fine with stock. I have tried removing it from the system/priv-app folder but since it's baked in and the stock battery is not there (I'm guessing) I get a I think it was a systemui fc loop and the rom is unusable then. If I leave the 3minit apps in the rom works fine.
So, is there a way around this, perhaps files I need to edit and perhaps image files I need to grab and put in said folders?
Keep in mind I'm rather new to some of this stuff, although I have edited the quick panel icons of another rom I had once, but that's been so long ago I probably forgot some stuff.
I don't want to edit the entire rom, just this part, the rest of the rom is fine and working, I would just like to remove the 3minit mod stuff and use a stock battery icon.
Any help, and most of all patience would be grateful.
