Cm7 sd card "fix' - G Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know i saw it here somewhere, but cant find it. What steps do i need to take to get the internal sdcard to be seen as sdcard? Im running cm7 nightly 58.

simple... edit /system/etc/vold.fstab and change
Code:
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/platform/tegra-sdhci.2/mmc_host/mmc1
dev_mount emmc /mnt/emmc auto /devices/platform/tegra-sdhci.3/mmc_host/mmc2
to
Code:
dev_mount sdcard2 /mnt/sdcard2 auto /devices/platform/tegra-sdhci.2/mmc_host/mmc1
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/platform/tegra-sdhci.3/mmc_host/mmc2
and next time... such questions should go in Q&A... this section is for development threads only!!!

Relax there amigo

Keep in mind that if you edit the vold.fstab on nightly 58 you will lose access to the external SD card but the internal will now be labled correctly. Pershoot and I were discussing this in his thread yesterday.
Btw, this does belong in q&a

Is this only an issue with the newest nightly?
I'm running 7.02 and used this trick to set the internal memory as sdcard, but I dont see any way to access my microsd that is installed.

No its the same with 7.0.2 which is why you can't access the card. The latest nightly combined with pershoots latest kernel does mount both cards but it labels the internal as emmc and the external as sdcard. Editing the vold.fstab throws it off. I would only do it if you don't have an external SD card.

For me this zip maps my sdcard to internal and external as emmc. This works for me. Have no trouble mounting my device and card through CWM. Just flashed to Cyanogen's CM7.02. Only problem I have is trying to find the right GAPPS to flash to get Market going.
Hope this helps

Err nevermind. I'm running CM 7.02 and pershoot's latest kernel. SDcard is my internal memory, and emmc is the actual micro sdcard. I think this is probably the best case scenario for me.

sdcard is external and emmc is internal on cm7.0.2+

Maybe this is what you're looking for? This flashable zip (link at the bottom of this post) backs up your vold.fstab and writes a new one, swapping your internal and external SDs such that internal goes to sdcard and external goes to emmc. This makes the USB external storage mounting function more like vegan 5 (mounts your internal storage by default)..

Yeah I flashed the zip that switches them.
It just seems to make more sense to me, and keeps everything in line with other Roms

This should actually be:
Code:
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/platform/tegra-sdhci.2/mmc_host/mmc1
dev_mount emmc /mnt/emmc auto /devices/platform/tegra-sdhci.3/mmc_host/mmc2
to
Code:
dev_mount emmc /mnt/emmc auto /devices/platform/tegra-sdhci.2/mmc_host/mmc1
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/platform/tegra-sdhci.3/mmc_host/mmc2
You should be simply reversing the way they were written. Writing sdcard2 instead emmc is the Froyo way of doing things. In Gingerbread, you should write emmc.

Moved to Q&A.

Yup, the flash does remount the cards. Good find.

Using multi partition external SD card [solved]

I am sharing this in this forum. Hope this is the right place.
I have been trying to re-partition my external SD card using one vfat partition and a bigger ext4 partition. Then my intention was to mount ext4 through an init.d script.
Partitioning (with gparted under Linux) was of course not a problem.
However, the system does not recognize the multi partition external SD card.
I am using Leedroid's HC (but I don't think that matter so much).
After system has fully started it says "SD card is damaged", do you want to format it.
So yes ... I formatted it. Then mounted it again under Ubuntu.
Back into gparted ... and ... now there is no partition table any more !
The android formatting has just written a vfat file system over the whole device without using a partition table.
So ... no luck.
Then I looked at the volume manager. In the file /etc/vold.fstab we can see:
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard 33 /devices/platform/msm_sdcc.2/mmc_host/mmc0
dev_mount sdcard2 /mnt/sdcard/ext_sd auto /devices/platform/msm_sdcc.4/mmc_host/mmc2
dev_mount usb /mnt/sdcard/usb auto /devices/platform/msm_hsusb_host.0
So, I re-formatted the SD card with a vfat and ext4 partition and changed the vold.fstab to:
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard 33 /devices/platform/msm_sdcc.2/mmc_host/mmc0
dev_mount sdcard2 /mnt/sdcard/ext_sd 1 /devices/platform/msm_sdcc.4/mmc_host/mmc2
dev_mount usb /mnt/sdcard/usb auto /devices/platform/msm_hsusb_host.0
(so I changed "auto" into "1" in the second line)
Well after booting ... no good! System still thinks SD card is damaged and proposed to re-format it.
I am guessing there must be a way tricking the vold daemon into using the first partition (vfat) as file system instead of the whole device block ... but I have not found it yet.
Maybe I am missing something very simple here so any help would be appreciated.
Normally questions go in the Q&A section.
Never really checked into this but I don't think the Android framework has capability to handle more than one partition per device even if you supply the mount points.
On the color nook it works as you described because the primary boot device was the SD card. You might try searching through the Nook forum

Well, I have multiple partitions on external SD card on my HTC Desire phone. They appear under /dev/block/mmcblkXp1 and /dev/block/mmcblkXp2. However, on the flyer I only see /dev/block/mmcblkYp1 (which is the first partition of the internal memory mounted on /sdcard). There is a different mechanism for the mount of /sdcard2 (external SD card). No entries in /dev/block are created for it.
I will have a look at Nook forum tonight. Thanks for response.

Well, OK ... but it does not work if there is a partition table !
So 2 partitions (1 VFAT and 1 ext4 does not work).
It only works when the whole block device just contains a VFAT file system (without partition table).
OK, I figured it out (kinda).
Apparently, when I create 2 partitions (1 VFAT and 1 ext4) via gparted under Ubuntu then the Flyer won't properly recognize the partition table (that is my guess). Don't know why ...
I created 2 partitions via CWM ... and now it is working fine.
So I have:
/dev/block/mmcblk1p1 -> VFAT
/dev/block/mmcblk1p2 -> EXT4
hi, just found this is SOLVE (congrats) and wondered whether this allows SD > supported 256GB on (G900f) S5.
Can you create many partitions on the SD (maybe up to 256) on a 1 TB microSD?
thanks

[Q] Internal / External Memory Swap on Sumvision x2

Good Evening,
I'm wondering if anyone can help with swapping my internal and external memory on my new Sumvision Android X2?
I've tried editing the vold.fstab file, but all I seem to do is tell Android that the External SD-Card is now the internal flash card.
I get the same problem with using the External 2 Internal App.
The only four lines in the vold.fstab file that aren't commented are:
loop_mount loop /mnt/VIRTUAL_CDROM
dev_mount sdcard /storage/sdcard0/external_sdcard auto /devices/platform/AMLOGIC_CARD/card_host/memorycard0 /devices/platform/aml_sd_mmc.0
dev_mount flash /storage/sdcard0 auto /devices/platform/mtd/mtd6/avnftlg /devices/virtual/mtd/mtd6/avnftlg
asec flash
And all I've tried (so far) is swap the words in bold.
Any ideas will be very much appriecated.
Thanks

[Q] ZOPO ZP998 sdcard mount issue

Hi,
I've been using my new zopo zp998 without an external sdcard for a while...
This way the system is mounting the phone storage (internal card) as sdcard0 pointing sdcard to it...
I've already installed lots of applications and most of them point to sdcard.
Now, when I try to add an external sdcard, the system mounts the external sdcard as sdcard0 and the phone storage as sdcard1 leaving sdcard pointing to sdcard0 which is now the external one, breaking most of the installed applications...
As this phone as almost 10GB of free storage, I wish to keep using the phone storage as main storage... Adding an external card is just for extra stuff (musics and videos) or for one or another future application (GPS maps maybe).
Is it possible to always keep the phone storage as sdcard0 and sdcard, with and without the external card mounted, leaving the external card as sdcard1 if mounted?
Phone is rooted (flashed bootimg and recovery, installed CMW-SuperSU 0.98) with stock ROM 20140218-143230.
vold.fstab contents:
dev_mount sdcard /storage/sdcard0 [email protected] /devices/platform/goldfish_mmc.0 /devices/platform/mtk-msdc.0/mmc_host
dev_mount sdcard2 /storage/sdcard1 auto /devices/platform/goldfish_mmc.1 /devices/platform/mtk-msdc.1/mmc_host
dev_mount usbotg /mnt/usbotg auto /devices/platform/mt_usb
Any help, please?
Thanks.

vold.fstab question

Hi there......
I try to deal with the internal memory. I got a Coby 1045-8 with stock ROM. Everything except the internal memory is working well. I tried cm10.1 custom ROM and lost Touch and WIFI, but with this ROM, the internal memora was back again. The vold.fstab was like this:
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/platform/sunxi-mmc
dev_mount nand /mnt/nand auto /devices/virtual/block/nandi
The vold.fstab in the stock ROM looks like this:
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/virtual/block/nandk
dev_mount extsd /mnt/extsd auto /devices/platform/sunxi-mmc.1/mmc_host /devices/platform/sunxi-mmc.0/mmc_host
Of course I tried to just copy the lines, but was unsucessfull. Can anyone give an advice, how to get the internal memory back agai at this stock ROM? Or maybe how to make compatibility.zips for CM10?
Thank you for reading....
