I recently purchased an atrix 4g and it has a really annoying problem.
About 50% of the time it when it wakes up from sleeping(i.e screen is off and i hit power button to wake it up) the touch screen is unresponsive.
The fingerprint scanner works fine but if i use that to get through the lock screen while the touch screen is unresponsive my home screen is unresponsive too.
I tried this on 1.2.6, 1.5.7, and gingerblur 2.5 and 3.0 and the issue still persists.
Any fixes? I got my phone only about a week ago, should i return it for a new one?
50% of the time is allot! I would take it back unless you think its an app you have installed causing the problem. Do you have apps like noLED or WidgetLocker or?

Also, do you have any Underclocking tool such as SetCPU?
Is your phone rooted?
I had this problem too and it still happens once on a while.... what I did was I've updated to 1.83 via OTA then used GingerBreak to gain root then installed GingerBlur 3.1, also I'm not sure if it has anything to do with it but it definitely became more responsive when I removed some of the widgets on my homescreens

I am rooted on 1.57 and have version 2 of GingerBlur. I wanted to set up a pattern and fingerprint recognition for my lock screen. I have the pattern setup so when I go to settings and click OK so enroll new fingerprints the phone sort of freezes. I tap back and home a bunch and after a couple of seconds it goes back. It won;t let me swipe my fingerprints though and add that to the lock screen. What do I do?
Unfortunately I have a similar probelm, I think. After updating to GB2.5 last night my fingerprint scanner has become totally unresponsive. I tried to re-enable it but don't really know how I would do that. When I go to set up a fingerprint scan it basically acts like I'm not swiping my finger.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Same problem; Atrix gingerblur 2.5 flashed from stock 1.26.
Did you guys ever find a solution to this? I'm having the same exact issue...
I had the same issue last week until I did a SBF flash to 1.87 and then re-flashed to gingerblur 3.5.
So something I'm noticing is when removing my phone from the charger, sometimes the screen auto off does not work. The screen will dim like it wants to turn off, but then will just sit dimmed and never turn off. Anyone have ideas? I was thinking some sort of app causing it, but I haven't installed anything new.
Only new thing I've done is update to Perfect Storm 1.4.
I've had this issue too. I'm running perfect storm 1.4 aswell. It only happens to mine when Titanium Backup runs a scheduled backup. A restart fixes it. Maybe I'll link to this thread in chingy's development thread and see if he has any thoughts?

I did not. I like the auto brightness the way it comes in 1.4. The issue (at least for me) is that if TB makes a backup while my phone is plugged in, then the only way the screen shuts off is when I manually sleep it by pressing the power button. Once I restart all is good. Not a huge deal as I only have TB scheduled to backup twice a week right before my alarm goes off in the morning so I just reboot when I wake up. Just thought someone might know how / want to fix the bug...
Yeah mine has nothing to do with auto brightness. Also, mine is not a result of TB, I don't have auto backups set.
It's just randomly, after a full night of charging, certain times it just won't turn off on its own. Once rebooted, working fine as stated above.
So it seems that no matter what i do regardless of rom, kernel, bootloader version if I press the power button while my gtablet is awake, it will just shut off- maybe twice now it has successfully unlocked for me and came back to life.
The other night i did a test, with 100% battery set the brightness to its lowest setting using the power manger widget (this seems to be 30 out of 255 btw)
Idling while I slept (screen on, sitting at the home screen) it ran 10 hours and still had 16% left.
Obviously the screen still remains as the key battery drainer, so my question is- is there a way to turn the screen off but keep the cpu running? Perhaps even just kill the back light completely- and upon volume button press or maybe a certain swipe gesture on the screen, the back light could be re enabled.
Ive tried a few apps, none of which have functionality quite like this- I was wondering about perhaps a script we could run via terminal (that maybe could be tied to a shortcut on the homescreen..?)
Thanks!
the sleep of death is my #1 gripe with the deivce.
what i am more interested in is why this happens. I would imagine this doesnt happen in stock form, so it must be an issue with rooting it.
Nope
No it happend in its stock form too... even with the 1.0 fw that i started with...
Went for the update to 1.1 bl and 1.2 bl
I really haven't been able to determine the issue and ive tried every rom between 1.1 and 1.2 ... (at least all the obvious ones on the forums here...)
Not sure what to do other than suck it up and just find something that can kill the screen.
Hmmmm, not sure why but sometimes when my battery is low, some parts of the top of the screen tend to stop registering touch input. As an example, if i'm in the Play Store and I try to touch the search bar to bring up the keyboard but it doesn't work...also sliding down from top to bring down notifications also doesnt work.
Anybody else have this issue?
nope
I've never had the screen stop registering touches, but I often have the notification bar stop responding to swipes.
I can resolve the latter by going to the lock screen and trying it there. The notifications will always open from there, and it starts working after being done once.
I've also set up a gesture shortcut to open the notifications by swiping down with two fingers. I'm using Nova Launcher, and that one always works.

I also am using Nova and have had prime installed for a long time.
I also had this issue (though at 100% battery) after a reboot. Rebooting again didn't work. Switched to TouchWiz briefly which also didn't work, but then I hit the Nova Prime button (already installed) and after reverting to Nova Launcher it started working again. Not sure exactly what fixed it though.
I think I'll send a link to the Nova dev and see what he thinks
delete
I sent en email to the devs with a link to the thread. Maybe they will find the cause of the problem
I restored my phone 2 times in the past week and problem randomly comes back. I don't even have to have a low battery, it did it to me 10 minutes after taking it off the charger for a full night. I have no idea what is the cause but about 1/2 inch of the entire top of my screen has no response to touch. I can solve this by rebooting but recently i discovered that if i flip my phone and force it to rotate the screen, the problem stops right away. I doubt its a hardware issue, but then again, if it was software, a restore should have solved that issue.
This is happening to me as well and I'm using Apex, not Nova. Seems like it's been randomly happening since 5.1.1 was installed. Any word yet on a fix?
Hi. I'm having trouble with my v10. When I go to the home screen from what I'm doing I get "loading". Example: I'm on chrome I hit home button it goes to home screen "loading" apperes. Its so quick I can't get a screen shot of it. Idk why it keeps doing it

I get that too! I thought it was just my phone. I'm not sure why its happening, it doesn't bother me much since its so fast but still would be nice to fix it.

Well I had weather on my home screen I took it off and thought that was the problem but it wasn't. But I also don't see it as much...and yes stock launcher
Same problem. I've had the weather app on the home screen since day 1 but didn't start seeing the loading message until last week when I was playing around with my lock screen settings.
I turned off fingerprint lock and changed my knock code a couple times and then changed my mind and turned the fingerprint back on.
I've been getting the loading message randomly since then.
What the heck? It's strange.

I think it's when you're in an app for a long time and the home screen is cleared out of the ram. When you go into home it has to reload. Just a guess..

how many apps do you have running, i have never seen this but i greenify everything thats not lg and my keyboard i actually dont even have a lag from when i hit home button to when i see the home animation flipping my apps across my back ground. but one question did you freeze or disable any lg apps, i saw on another post were they had issues with knock on and the fingerprint scanner after disabling the LG home launcher app, but they didnt have the problem when it was enabled even though they were using nova, it use to happen on my note four till turned back on the samsung apps so try that.
I have 18 apps in my home screen. And I'm running everything stock. I did disable some stuuf but nothing lgish

I haven't disabled anything. I have very few apps and I didn't have the "problem" until starting last weekend.
The only thing I can remember changing was playing around with fingerprint vs no lock screen vs only knock code. Went back to knock code with fingerprint and started seeing the loading message randomly.
I definitely don't have more open than I did a few weeks ago. I close whatever I'm not using.

I close everything all the time. I just don't understand it. I almost wanna master reset my phone But don't wanna set it all up again

I'm on my third device and two of them had this issue. I could always replicate it by going into an app like chrome, turning off the screen while still in app, turning the screen on then pressing home. Everytime I got the loading message, no matter what I did it persisted. I factory reset and flashed stock. I'm thinking it's a bug that only effects some devices.. I'm sure a software update will fix this and the smart notice app restarting like first install after every boot too.

Did anyone else that has experienced this have a G3 or 4 and transfer data through lg backup?
it might be you have to many apps running at once that arent closing. what are you using to close the apps i noticed even after doing a clear all most of the apps are still running when i have greenify close them. also this isnt exactly part of your problem but i noticed that my phone acted weird like not turning on or screen staying on after i hit the power button when i reset it. but after taking out the tmobile apps it worked fine, i think one of them is causeing a problem once you root the phone cause it was fine the first few days i had it untill i rooted it and reset it to fix the knock issues i was having. so try removing all the tmobile stuff and the blue app thing is tmobile to. i also dont have lock out on my phone anymore it only messes with my rooted apps.
Only apps I'm using regularly are chrome (usually have 4 to 5 tabs open) TuneIn Radio (only open when using it) email, text messaging, camera, gallery.
I've only installed 10 apps. TuneIn, Dropbox, Shazam, my album (Facebook picture uploads), cartwheel (from target), Verizon fios, charging report, flipp (shopping circular ads) and tapatalk.
My main home screen has the smaller weather widget (was there when I got the phone) and one of my other screens has a clock widget.
I really don't think multitasking is causing this issue. No idea what but it doesn't seem like I'm using any more than I was last week yet from the day I bought the phone up until just days ago I had never seen it.
Curiouser and curiouser.

What the heck? It's strangs.
Here's one for you :
It's not only doing it when I press the home button.
It just did it when I pressed the back soft key from the messaging app back to my app drawer.
I got the "loading" message pop-up right in front of the app drawer window.
