Hi guys.
I've had sarah (my Nokia 6020) since God-knows-when (!), and so I'm not familiar with the modern cell phones and their characteristics.
I really like X10, but its lack of multi-touch is a little annoying, and some friends have told me to buy a phone which supports multi-touch.
I wanna know what exactly I will miss if I buy X10 and ignore its lack of multi-touch? Is it only important in games? How frequently games use multi-touch and is it impossible to play multi-touch games in X10?
Thanks.
Hi - Basically - it's only certain games which really need to use multitouch.. ones where you have to do 2 things at once.. there are some options to overcome this in certain cases, such as using a Wii Remote paired with your phone.. Personally I am not bothered at all about the lack of multitouch, because there are lots of games you can get which don't need MT... There are many good reasons to get one which, for me at least far outway the lack of MT.
At first I was hesitant to buy the X10 cuz it didn't support MT as well. It's a big step for me cuz I've never used a smart phone before but I do know lots about it lol. To be honest, I really don't think multi touch is an important feature, unless you're really into games that needs it. I've had the X10 for almost a month now and I absolutely love it there are great games in the App store that doesn't need multi touch like Radiant, Abduction, Totemo, etc etc. You should definitely get Rachael, you won't be disappointed
Not really, but there is talk about that in 2.1, but we don't talk about that here... MT is a taboo topic

lack of mt is quite bad for gaming. example game like pspxdroid for playing pspx game and other action game. the point is a problem is a problem if u think is a problem. if you really want a phone with mt , end of the day it just going to come and hunt you if u get a x10 if u dun mind wait for 2.1 and see is there mt which some said there is, if not you can get desire or galaxy s which both are great phone.
Do you use your phone to call people...?
I do, and I don't need multi-touch for that.
If you're coming from an old dumb-phone, either you don't need multi-touch, or you're expecting your new phone to change your life in ways you never thought possible.
Trust me, the x10 will not change your life in ways you never thought possible, and no, you don't need multi-touch...
Thank you everyone, your opinion is really helpful.
Considering the fact that I'm a gamer, I think MT will be needed for me someday, but I understand I shouldn't overvalue it.
Why is it making a decision about a cell phone to buy is so hard? It's a lot easier with PCs, laptops, wives, Digicams, MP3 Players, ...
I studied a lot about X10 and MT and I'm almost certain that there will be no MT for X10 (SE made it clear 5-6 days after the rumor about MT in 2.1 started).
Ah, and every phone has its pros and cons and it makes no sense to consider them as "taboo".

there have also been reports of the touch panel manufacturers saying that they can enable MT on their ST pad with trickery too.
so i wouldnt believe anything anyone says for now. and just wait.
but if you are a 'gamer' then buy a psp or something.. its a mobile phone not a console/gaming pc
The point is that multitouch for as i know is used in web browsers and in games.Someone correct me if i am wrong. So if you would like to play the you should buy a PSP or Nintendo or whatever portable console, for more than one reason. My PSP's battery for example lasts up to 5 hours of intense gaming, and you still have the phone for calling, internet and so on.The control is better on the handheld console with or without multitouch.
But... since almost all smartphones have multitouch it whould be nice to have this feature even if i would not use it often.
So the bottom line is that i have a PSP for gaming so i really do not need the multitouch feature.
I'm playing Diablo 1 on psx4droid and haven't noticed any problems so far (except laggy video and sound stuttering which seems to be common for most devices). Good native android games are yet to come. If you're looking to play some decent games now, then go for PSP.
And by the way, HTC also stated there will be no mt for G1 so we shall see...

Does your wife know she's third in your list, eh? Lmfao!
The lack of hardware support for MT if true is a puzzling omission on the part of SE. The IPhone has had MT I think since the beginning & to leave out the feature from a flagship product is a fumble on SE's part IMO.
The phone over all is a great device even without MT but if gaming is a priority for you I would take a pass on the X10, & look for a device that supports MT not one that may support it.
Guys, please...
Of course I have a PSP!
But, 2 things make me care about my phone's gaming potential too:
1. I don't always carry my PSP around, and even if I have it, I can'y play with it everywhere (I am 30 years old )!
2. PSP is a very old device and its games are mostly the same with phone games, without touch controls. I don't think PSP is that much better than a phone for gaming (a lot of my friends have the same opinion).
I generally don't like the idea that it's a phone ==> if you need something else from your phone go buy something else...
I can't carry around a lot of gadgets...

Hello to all the XDA community.
The following post is for those who do not feel as comfortable with the galaxy s2 device, with its Mali-400 graphics chip, although the chip itself is very powerful not provide all the features to play the most beloved games in the today. Among those who find: Sprinkles, shadowgun etc etc.
In my opinion, the cell is very fast and I really like the screen, but unfortunately when I take the iPhone 4 of my girlfriend i want to have it for me, because although the chip A4 already has more than a year now can run games that Mali -400 could not run, it's very stressful having to root your phone to play with chainfire3D, only a few games.
I ..... loving samsung galaxy line. This phone will definitely change for the iphone 5
Why? it seems unfair that i have a cell phone much better than the iphone 4 but unable to play most of the best games.

Okay.
Don't buy something unless you know what you're buying. You're gonna be real disappointed when you buy a car and then find out that it doesn't fly or make you bacon.
You're not gonna get much help here, coming into an Android forum and telling us that our phone can't do something an iPhone can. It's not conducive to helpful responses, as it sounds like trolling and is a pointless statement.
It's because game developers are not using industry standard filtering and texture compression for the games. Mali 400 supports industry standards only, so when a game uses a propriety Nvidia or Power vr or whatever branded code, it won't work because to support the code, you need to pay licensing fees to have the hardware support the code.

It does take a nice amount of ****tardation not to realize that iOS is a better platform for games. Next time you'll look more closely before you throw your money on something: don't blame Samsung/Android, blame yourself. Now bye.

Really? Is it stressful?
You should put more effort into deciding what devices are right for you before buying them...
Aside from the GS2 being arguably the best phone available right out of the box for everything aside from tegra-optimised games (which as others have stated is due to developer's lack of support for industry standards used by the GS2 rather than the other way around)... Like most android devices it's most suited to those who like to tinker and customise.
Buy an iPhone 5.

Yes I was dissapointed that my car didn't make my bacon.
Maybe I should have went to XDcAr and read up on it first to find out that my car could not do it before I bought it.
My car does fly (at an altitude of 0.01mm) - but only where there is no speed cameras about.
OP,I feel ya.When I bought my GS2 I was really disappointed that it didn't make coffee.I called Samsung to solve my problem, but they insulted me.They were very rude man. They told me "Go buy a f*cking coffee machine!".But I bought the best phone available! Can't I do it with an app?
Seriously, although that was a terrible joke, what did you expect man?Nothing is perfect, get over it.My PC can't play Final Fantasy XIII.AND it doesn't support something like Chainfire3D to play PS3 games(**** if it did ).Get over it.Even if you want games that much, there are gazillions of nice games in the Android Market, and more are bound to come. And with the success of the GS2 it's only bound to get better.Just get the heck over it.
Dont entirely blame it on a device for your shortcomings also. Learn to accept some of the blame and you are on your way to maturity.

Anyone know what the scrolling ticker widget seen at the start of this video is called?
oh come on peeps why all the harsh replys!!!
he asked a decent question , yes its easy to say if you wanted games buy an iphone4 , at the same time it is still a decent question .
its a shame that the mali is getting left out the cpu/gpu combon on the sgs2 is immense and very very powerfull it would be great to have games like the one linked avalible
i knew the sgs2 wouldnt have every iphone game but when i see games like this i do think , my phone could run this easy and i wouldnt mind playing it , whas wrong with that and asking why the sgs2 doesnt have games like this
maybe it isnt as easy to code for?? we have over 10 million sgs2 users now so the market is there , is it devs being lazy and not porting it , is it hard to port things to the mali , from chainfire 3-d it doesnt seem like its hard to apply stuff to get games working that are coded for say nvidia but what about how hard it is for gameloft to make these games for the mali
to the op , dont worry about some of the negative awnswers i thought it was a decent question and i do think its a shame the mali is being left out a bit when it is soooooo dam good with soooooooooo many users worldwide
have a good day everyone and maybe try to be a bit nicer to fellow users , treat others as you wish to be treated springs to mind as does if you have nothing nice to say maybe dont say anything 2 pages of people taking the mick out of the op for asking a sensible question and saying things like ''my sgs2 wont make coffee'' is just a bit out of order really and isnt anything like what he was saying

hello to everyone.
Sorry if I offended, some of the users that have this phone.
is not my intention to devalue the SG2, but actually I think that to be the best phone should support any things without any problem, maybe it's difficult because different graphics chip, ATI may start manufacturing their own as well. possibly be deciding whether Nvidia or ATI.
the cell phone itself is very fast and the screen size is the maximum that I would buy for a smarphone to me is very good
If you wanted to phone Mainly for games, you got an iPhone Should Have.
I think all cell phone makers have to have this in their creations, to avoid incompatibility and make users
samsung unfortunately not put the grates 2 in the SG2, definitely would be a very good phone for games too.
but really do not see it? A4 over a year on the market and is still compatible with current games.
many people have the SG2, samsung should invest money so we can play these lines did not sell many games SG2?

Well,I don't think anyone here was actually offended, nor do I think that anyone tried solely to insult you. It's just a matter of asking credible things.Whatever the iPhone is,its architecture and the software it supports haven't changed much(If at all) since the first iPhone.Every version follows the same principles, uses hardware of the same "Family" (eg PowerVR GPUs),so whatever new comes out for a new iDevice,it will instantly become available for its older bretheren.Android is different.I don't think that it will be long before you see this kind of games on the GS2 if you ask me,so in my opinion you should just keep the better device.Guess which one solves the "X=Win" equation.
Kind enough for everyone here?
Does it work for any of you? It says that it is incompatible with my phone.

For those of you who have it working I have a question.. Is it REALLY worth the $4.99!? Ive been spoiled by .99c games. Honestly I doubt I purchase it just because of that. But if Im missing out and NEED to play this game could any body offer a brief explanation why? I have read about the game already but would like to hear from someone who is playing on an Atrix. i bought it yesterday, but didn't play it for very long. it's a pretty fun game, and the controls were really intuitive. it's exactly how you would want to control a fps on a touch screen, left side of the screen for moving and right for camera.
the graphics were pretty amazing for a smartphone, i was impressed. and i didn't experience any sort of lag, which was even better (using the 1.0ghz enhanced kernel CM7)
i'd say it's worth the 5 dollars, i only got about half an hour into it so far and was already satisfied with my purchase. the animations are all voice acted so far, gameplay is fun, and controls are great for a touch screen.
I highly recommend this game. Well worth the $5. The controls are much better than the gameloft FPS's that I've played and the graphics are amazing. When you compare the price to a console game it's a no brainer purchase.
On the gameloft shooters they kinda auto aim for you (sorta like goldeneye on n64) but on this game once you press the fire button you can move your finger and move your aim, like having dual joysticks. Also the left joystick appears wherever you put your thumb (on the left half of the screen) eliminating the problem of your finger missing the joystick.
The cover system is easy to use and works well. It's nice to have that instead of just having to run around shooting. The enemy AI isn't as good as many console games but miles ahead of other mobile shooters. Enemies will move from cover to cover, one will stick back while the other tries to flank you, etc.
There are a few very minor glitches here and there, but it runs very well on the atrix.
Well worth it...just be ready to kiss your battery byebye

Definitely worth it,especially considering it'll get an update for multiplayer in the near future apparently (forgot where i read it but it was a legit source). And the game is great to play, it has great graphics and is very smooth and fast.

Also... Yesterday(?), there was an update available for the game. After installing it, the character was holding an invisible gun that shelled out little pink blocks. Apparently this was a pretty common problem. This was fixed by reinstalling the game after deleting /sdcard/Android/data/com.madfingergames.shadowgun

Sadly there is no way to make hdmi mirroring with the Atrix... Widescreen that is.
This game is great on both my Atrix and eee pad transformers. For anybody having glitches, just uninstall the game and reinstall. I had to do that on both devices afterthe update. Also for those who have an eee pad with dock, you can plug up an Xbox 360 controller and play the game like it is an Xbox 360 game, just loads faster.

Hi i was just wondering somethings about the xperia u before it replaces my wildfire
Here are something i would like to know.
1.Can the xperia u play extremely graphic intensive games such as N.O.V.A 3, FIFA 12, MODERN COMBAT 3,etc and how is the overall experience on playing these games on a small screen?
2.Is the screen size been ever a problem for typing, playing games ,etc (especially for people who got big fingers)?
3. How much can I overclock this phone safely too?
The storage is too low, thats why i wouldnt buy it personally

1. Yes, all of them. It's a freaking duel core processor, don't underestimate it
2.Screen is perfect ! i have big hands (my hight is 1.90 meters).
3.1200mhz would be stable and give decent battery life
In portrait its very small you cant type.
But you can type in landscape with ez.
Screen is small for playing good games..
All of these games you've mentioned runs flawlessly on my XPeria U.

get sola bro.... storage is the one thing if u have less u will always be longing for more.... storage is a Pain in the @$$ in U if u consider gaming..... my friend has it...... i have a sola and all of them works well along with a bigger screen......
hit thanx if i helped....
1. i've played both nova 3 and modern combat 3 with XU. true it's not buttery smooth but coming from a less capable phone, the XU offers me more than enough gaming capabilities.
overall experience is what you'd expect from playing games on a phone sorry if that doesn't help much but hey, you've had a droid before, you know how it feels. only this time, boost the framerates higher and the display sharper.
2. for people who got big fingers, I imagine it might be. since I'm not one of them it's not a problem for me, both in landscape or portrait.
3. I can't help you much on that, because personally this phone feels fast enough it doesn't need an overclock. I wouldn't mind if somebody managed to undervolt it though.
as for storage problems, I only have one of those games that requires gigabytes of data installed at a time. Once I've finished them (or got bored), I'll simply delete it and install another. but I do kept a large number of casual, small games like temple run though.
Ok gonna move to xperia dont care about memory right now!
Okay so I have been playing asphalt 8 on my tablet z for about a month, and i have had this low res issue since day one on the game
I was waiting for game loft to update it, but still its not fixed......
I know I'm not the only one who is facing this issue, I think that the games runs on 720 resolution and doesn't take the advantage of 1080 p screen
Maybe it's because adreno 320 cant handle 1080 resolution, who knows ...
Is there any way to fix it???

How did you get it? Google Play says it's not compatible with my device (SGP312) so I can't install it.
Thanks.

i know it sid, that and its really frustrating ......
simple, 2 ways to get it .......
1. either run cyanogenmod (any version) on it, it will say its compatible, and it is going to download and install like a charm.
2. or you can keep stock sony firmware and install it by an apk and also download the sd files needed sd files needed for it
both ways, the game runs really well at any setting, but at a low resolution
i did a review of it, check it out:

i dont think that there is an option to increase the resolution, im not asking if it can run at high settings or not, because i know it can, its about the screen resolution
it looks good if you play it from a distance and dont really pay attention to pixels, but once you do, you can see lines making up the cars, and the buildings and the wires
here is a good example, asphalt 7 and asphalt 8 both look completely different, asphalt 8 i think runs at a good resolution than asphalt 8
one more example can be found in real racing 3
real racing 3 looks terrible on xperia tablet z, maybe its not optimized
go ahead and try real racing 3 and tell me how does it look ???

Yes real racing does look awful but so is the game in my opinion compared to asphalt 8 .
I run FXP242-cm-10.1-20131021-UNOFFICIAL-pollux_windy.zip rom .
It features expanded desktop and pie controls = more screen real estate. Consequently I probably get a better picture than a user of this tablet without these features. Try that if you haven't already
