I just updated to 1.8.3, and since the update I have had intermittent, bordering on no functionality, on using the fingerprint scanner to unlock the phone. I have version 2.0.2, the latest version of Widget Locker, and my phone is rooted with the recent OTA.
The issue is that Widget Locker overrides the Atrix lock screen, like it's supposed to and I want it to, but when I scan my finger, it does nothing. If I hit the 'back' button, I can get to the Atrix lock screen and swipe my finger to get onto the phone.
Anyone else having these issues? I'm attributing it to the recent update even though the update isn't supposed to have messed with the fingerprint scanner per Motorola's page.
http://www.motorola.com/staticfiles...es/RN_Blur_Version.4.1.83.MB860.ATT.en.US.htm
Im having the same issue. The new update didn't seem to recognize fingerprint scaning on widget locker. But I don't think its motorola's fault. I just think widget locker needs to be updated for the 1.83 software update.

Thanks for the reply; that's mostly what I was thinking too. It is pretty obvious that Widget locker is having some issue with the new OTA.

i've had that issue with widgetlocker since 1.2.6, it's annoying and even though i paid for it, i stopped using it because the FP scanner only worked 60% of the time.
I had almost zero functionality with the FP scanner on .83, so I stopped using WL for now.

Is Widget Locker for me, because I don't have the issue when NOT using Widget Locker, only when I am using it.
Most of the fingerprint scanner issues were prior to the 4.1.57 update, (when people were still on 4.1.26). 4.1.57 greatly improved the speed and frequency the scanner read fingerprints correctly. After 4.1.83 the problem has re-surfaced when Widget Locker is being used!

I have to disagree with you, my finger print scanner works just fine with Widget Locker turned off but once I turn it on it's hit or miss if it will read my finger. When it doesn't if I hit the back button it takes me to the moto lock screen and then reads my finger just fine so the hardware is not the issue it's the app.

I have the same issue. Now that I have WL turned off, I can get into the phone just fine. I think I'm going to try to send the WL people an e-mail to make sure they know.
EDIT: Here is the e-mail address that I used to contact the developers of Widget Locker: [email protected]

I got a reply, and he says that this issue will be fixed in the next WL release.
He says it's almost complete, but isn't sure how soon it will be released.
I'm just happy that they definitely know about it.
apps without fingerprint verification
I've been having some bugs with it, all of which were aforementioned. I'll be patient for the future updates
I do have one general question however, and I am not sure if it is a limitation in the app or the os itself: Is it possible to have certain apps (those on the widgetlock lockscreen) be usable without having to perform the fingerprint security check? The main reason why I bought this app was so I could have a few apps that didn't need fingerprint verification, but I now have no idea if that is possible
Is there a blog, or official twitter, or website you guys are following to keep up to date on progress for new release of Widget Locker?

Hey guys,
New to the android world n I'm trying to get the hang of it so pls bear with me and my silly questions. Hopefully some of you may be able to help me with this question.
So as the title goes, I'm trying to remove the stock lockscreen slider since it seems to be kind of inaccurate everytime I slide to unlock. Sometimes it hits immediately but most if the time requires 2 tries.
I wish to replace it with something better but I don't know yet where to get the apk for it.
The phones rooted already and I am using sdx stock app remover. I am trying to figure out which apk I need to remove to disable the lockscreen. Does anybody know the name of the necessary apk file?
On top of that can I replace the deleted apk with a custom lockscreen? If possible, where can I find good ones.
I hope someone will be kind enough to help me. I really don't like the slider bar on the motoblur.
Thanks,
Aqua

I wouldn't mess with it until we get an sbf, but until then you can get a lock screen replacement from the market, there's lots of them like GOTO Lockscreen, Lock 2.0, FlyScreen, Widget Locker Lockscreen and many more Hope this helps
Cool! Thnx man. That helps a lot. I've been looking for an app to do so but never could find a good answer. I won't play around with the core files till things are clear. Thnx again.

get 'no lock' from the market
I'm with you on this, I would like to get rid of the stock slider and still keep my pin/pattern lock. I use widget locker so of course I have redundant screen locks whenever the security lock kicks in. 'no lock' on the market removes the security lock as well.

In my search for no lock, I ran across a few apps on the market that did this as well. Don't remember which ones, but if you search on 'no lock' a few of the apps that come up do exactly what you're looking for - you just have to put in the time and go through them...
The stock motorola slider and the PIN/Password security are all the same screen and cannot be interacted with separately in any standard manner. I'm looking into alternative ways of doing this, but they're very complicated even with root. Pattern is less strictly tied to slider, and already works better in 2.0 with WL 2.0.1 improving it more, but motorolas slider in front of the pattern is very difficult to deal with too.
Me personally I love using my fingerprint locker instead of the slider, it's quicker and more efficient. Just a quick heads up
I'd love using it too if it doesn't keep missing my fingerprint. Sometimes it could take up to 3 or 4 times to unlock. Don't know why.
So Im now using widget locker. Awesome app.

On beans you can still use the tw shortcut on the lock screen (hold a finger on the lock screen and rotate the phone) this will launch the camera app. Although I'm not sure if it works with a lock code since I only have the swipe to unlock feature active.

Actually, this might sound like a cheap way out, but it was pretty cool, there was an ios7 lockscreen app that worked really well (only thing was sometimes home button unlocked the phone) but you can slide up for camera without having to enter a pin. The app itself lets you enter a 4 digit pin with unlock automatically.
The reason for this, is, unlike ios, if you went to your camera app, and pressed the home key, you can bypass the security. An android limitation unfortunately. Ill try to find the play store link
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appershopper.ios7lockscreen
PS- when it says accept or decline for the freeware app crap, just decline, still works anyway!

Again, unfortunately its an android limitation if im not mistaken so theres no way around that. I would try that with some type of extra lockscreen security. Not many people would try pressing the home button though maybe, but then again I never usually lock my phone because its always in my pocket. And I watch anything I dont want to see in incognito mode
What I did in the past (for 10 minites experimenting) was that amd widget locker under that lockscreen, so after unlocking with that app, I would go into widgerlocker and my lockscreen was just a blank screen with the time. I downloaded a clear slider and put it in a small corner so that no one would know where to unlock my phone exept me really. But then again I never tried with the camera app so I couldn't tell you for sure.

Only after a reboot. First unlock after a reboot has to be PIN. Then after that fingerprint works normally. Was always this way before the update though.
Yep. I had to stop using the double tap to screen lock gesture on Nova. Guessing Samsung doesn't want 3rd Party apps to have control to lock the screen.
Man, that sucks. Hope Nova tweaks it for us. I feel like I'm going to wear out the power button, not to mention it's easier to double tap to lock

This is why I don't use a secure lockscreen. It causes more grief than anything else. I'm honestly surprised that Samsung lets you use Samsung Pay and other fingerprint features without a lock screen. Every other device I have used wipes your fingerprints as soon as you turn off the secure lockscreen. I usually just do without.
I posted this on the ZTE Community forums, and thought I'd add it here as well.
The notification bell on the lockscreen is a major annoyance for many of us. I was looking for some other way to manage this, but lockscreen widget apps don't work, and most lockscreen apps don't support the fingerprint reader, Smart Lock, or double tap to wake. After reading a lot of reviews, I'm cautiously optimistic about Next Lock Screen, an Android app by Microsoft, of all things! This app sort of runs "on top" of/with your built in lockscreen. It shows the notifications, right there, no bell, and it still works with the fingerprint reader and the double tap to wake feature on my ZTE Axon 7. It claims to still work with Smart Lock, but I haven't been able to try that yet.
Google Play Store Link: Next Lock Screen - Android Apps on Google Play
In the Next Lock Screen settings, set the "Screen Lock" option to "System" to keep your double tap to wake, fingerprint, PIN, etc. just as you already have them. If you do this, you will still get a glimpse of your old ZTE lockscreen now and then, when you try to go into the Next Lock Screen settings, and it shows you the ZTE screen and makes you fingerprint scan before changing settings.
The Next Lock Screen is not quite as fast as the ZTE Lockscreen, so you glimpse it briefly before your homescreen, when the device unlocks.
I like the app that you suggest, but is there a way to keep showing ZTE wallpapers? ZTEs setup keeps changing wallpapers everytime the screen wakes up. I kinda like the feature. I know the Next Lock Screen app has a similar feature with Bing wallpapers, but that is only once per day.
I've been using Next for the past week to get around the bell and it works quite well - especially with the fingerprint sensor. Very surprised that it took MS to make a very useful and intuitive lockscreen for Android. Of course, I'd rather have pure Android instead of an app work around.
That bell is truly a feature that i dont understand. So, si annoying and stupid.

Basically any 3rd party lockscreen, like Next, AcDisplay, Ambient display, etc, will disable the stock lockscreen when the 3rd party app takes control. It's a work-around. People probably want some kind of interaction from the lockscreen anyway, and this is a way to get rid of the stupid bell and get that interactive display at the same time.
Edit: I missed the post before yours. I do hope that someone creates an option in settings on a future ROM to disable it directly though. After root and bootloader unlock of course.

or just shout about it loud enough at ZTEs, so that they will make it an optional feature in coming updates... there is a bunch of optimal features they should integrate:
- optional bell on lockscreen
- optional on-screen buttons (as chinese 6gb versions have already)
- optional black/dark theme (specially with that amoled display)
... will tell more when I got the phone :silly:
I kind of defeated the bell using Tasker to simulate a touch right where the bell is. Unfortunately it simulates a touch even when I use the finger print. Not really sure which is more annoying, the bell or having a touch in the upper left every time the screen comes on. That's how ****ing annoying this bell is.

How's that a root workaround? The method you described can be used without root as well and the problem with it is that it doesn't support the fingerprint scanner.
Does anyone have a stock android lockscreen app so I can install is as a system app and delete ZTE one? Thanks

I figured out how to have the bell auto open with Tasker. I uploaded the two profiles that are needed to do this. Probably not the most elegant Tasker work but meh it works. This works by simulating a touch where the bell is when you are on the lock screen but not when you use finger print unlock.
Looks like you need root for this.
To import: Save xmls to /sdcard/tasker/profiles
Load up tasker and long press profiles and hit "import".

Knock On/Off is disabled when using Nova. Sadly. Basically one of my favorite LG features can't be used. If you get another app like Screen On/Off it messes with the security settings and you cant' use the finger print to unlock, you have to do your pattern/password. So yeah, not exactly thrilled w/ using the LG launcher but it is what is.

Ironically enough, I just noticed that they have a screen lock option in the settings for gestures and inputs now too...
There are two options, one is locks the screen immediately (which requires pin/password/patter, which I didn't want) and the other just turns the screen off for 5 seconds then locks itself, allowing for knock on and fingerprint. So thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
And yes, you can double tap the notification shade as well and that does the same as the second option.
Thanks again!

I actually figured out that it will stay on the home screen as long as I don't hide the navigation buttons. When I keep the navigation buttons persistent on the screen, I can use the ticker.
As for what I use it for, there are some media control settings, shortcuts, but most useful is screen shot and making gif features.

Hello,
I know this is an old thread but want to ask the question regarding Nova launcher and the LGV30+ that I have.
When I setup the Nova Launcher, to unlock the phone with my finger print, it asked me for addition pattern or a pin. Now that it is set up, whenever I use the fingerprint to unlock the phone, it also ask for a pattern.
Does anyone else have this issue?

If you are using Nova's double tap to sleep feature, and you have it set to the 'Device Admin' option for the lock method, you will not be able to use biometric unlock. Using the 'Timeout' method will allow you to use the fingerprint scanner as normal.

Thank you for that. Do you know if there is a way to set this up to work with the double tap to lock the screen? It is giving me a message that it has to be an admin.
Thanks.
EDIT: OK figured it out. You set Nova to turn off the screen with a double tap. The timeout will lock it.
Thanks!
I know the thread is a little old, but someone also asked about using the floating bar with Nova.
Should be able to use it. I know a question was previously asked about it by a poster, and the issue was not Nova, but the fact that the poster had the Navigation Bar set to auto hide, and the Floating Bar is directly tied to the Navigation Bar. If the Navigation Bar is hidden, the Floating Bar will not display.
