Is there a way to change my apps menu design (interface)
attached the picture of the menu
am using the simply galaxy ginger rom update 2,
this menu is taken from the GCR rom .
thanks,
yes, try a different launcher, or check the settings to see if the launcher you have allows for different configurations.
@jamesd86
Ok, i think i got your point,
pls, could you guide me on how to check the existing launcher settings..
also i will be very greatfull if you guided me to some other launchers
thanks in advance
Found it
just needed to switch from twlauncher to launcher pro using home switcher
thanks jamesd86
Try searching for "launcher" in the market. I recommend everyone take a look at "SPB shell 3D" its an awesome launcher and the app drawer layout is pretty cool too! Good luck!
P.S. i like ur name bro! You seem like a really nice and informative person already!

Hi. (From Norway so sorry about my bad english)
I Have some questions about the x10i and I hope someone can give some answers.
I have searched alot around the web trying to find some way to change my home screens or my themes if you will. And i am trying out these different types for applications for my phone like AHome, Panda Home, ADW Launcher, etc.
but nothing works. ADW Launcher doesn't open up at all.
Now for the questions:
1. Is it posible to get some help about getting themes to work on x10i, and
how the program works? and how to make them work?
2. is there some applications out there that you can make your own themes
without having to script it? for example sony ericsson theme creator is
a good application to make themes only i want something better.
3. if i root my x10i will i loose my warranty of the phone?
4. is it posible to make the phone vibrate every time i touch the screen?
I saw the x10 mini has it, and some other phones. is it some kind off app
to the x10i that i can use? tryed searching for some apps in the marked
place but didn't find anything usefull.
5. If I want to for example change my fonts on the phone.
why do I have to root it?
can't i simply replace a font file with a file manager?
Hope someone can help me with this.
and once again, sorry about my bad english.
Hi. Welcome to XDA and the wonderful world of everything X10.
I hope you are using ADW Launcher for donut as we are still stuck on Android 1.6, version compatibility needs to be checked always.
1. The latest versions of ADW Launcher is "theme-able" and lots of themes available in the market, just search for ADW themes. Other Home apps (GDE, Ahome etc) also have plenty of themes in the market
2. To create themes HERE is a good starting point. HERE is a good collection of themes, for other themes browse through THIS thread.
3. YES! rooting voids your warranty, but un-rooting gives you your warranty again. There are lots of root methods search THIS thread for more info
4. I don't know of any such apps but searching in the sub-forums of the devices you mentioned might give you more insights
5. Fonts are stored in the system partition and not in SDcard, to access the PHONE or SYSTEM partition you need to have ROOT... to know more about root, read up some basic Linux documentation (search using google)
Hope the info was useful. Browse through all the threads (esp the stickys) and you will find lots of info....
thank you so much for the answers.
only one question left then
I downloaded adw launcher donut from market place. and tryed downloading some themes. but nothing happend. and the adw launcher was installed correkt.
but i didn't find the application in my menu. and didn't find any way to set the theme
that i had downloaded. så I just uninstalled both.
but do you mean that we have to have android 2.1 or above for adw launcher to work
properly?

Did you select your theme in ADW settings?
ADW settings? how or where are the settings when i can't even find or open up the program?
ADW Laucher will not show up in your main menu like other apps, its a launcher (home replacement app), install it and press the centre (hardware) button (the one with the square mark above it) or home button and select ADW launcher. To use ADW launcher as your default home, tick the use as default option. The menu options are there when you click the menu button (one with 4 squares on top of it) and ADW settings. Hope this solves the issue.

thanks alot. that helped. it works now.
now its only one thing missing and that os yo learn how to make my own themes.
i know how to make everything like for eksample photoshop and flash but how to make a x10i theme is a little more complicated i think.
if anyone knows how to make themes without having to script?
that would be very helpful
i wanna make my own themes. isnt there any program to make themes for x10i
that looks like Sony Ericsson themes creator? only better
Has anybody found a way to replace the app drawer for a rooted user? I dislike the screen based grid and would rather have a scrolling grid.

Get Go launcher EX from Market it is free it have 5-7 types ( you can change theme also I use Honeycomb theme with it)
In the Market, type in 'launcher', there are loads of replacements which have loads of settings etc.
I recommend launcher pro, or launcher7.
Launcher7 is really sexy
Thanks for the suggestions, but these change the GUI more than I want. I only want an app drawer replacement.

In that case I'd go with 'ravitejas' suggestion of Go Launcher. It looks similar to touchwiz and you can change the app draw to scrolling type. It just takes a bit of messing about with lots of settings...
Or if you'd like an actual list of apps you can press menu when you're in the app drawer and select list view...

Unfortunately, my Galaxy S II does not have the list view for some reason. That would have been a decent solution. Oh well.. can't make the phone the same in every market it seems.
What about solutions that work with rooting? I did root the phone awhile back, hoping that I could use this to my advantage. So far, no real use.
Weird that yours doesn't have a list view option...
Can't help you beyond stock rom I'm afraid, haven't rooted...haven't seen any real need to...

The problem is you want to replace part of the launcher program but not the whole thing. Root or not it's hard to replace "half a program". Someone could probably, theoretically at least, hack the program apart and replace it that way but that's a lot of effort.
Are you sure you don't have list view? Open the app menu and hit menu
Pick a launcher, i recommend launcher pro or ADW EX (far better than standard ADW launcher)

Hello this im fresh noob on this site..Go help some noob here please!!
Have some1 ever imagine if we have launcher like this? I like Launcher Pro because it can be customize to suit our need/style example:number of homescreen, but the application drawer was kinda boring, its just black and (if i not mistake) its not customizable and yes ive tryed that 3D drawer but still boring,it will be nice if we can add wallpapers like SE Active Launcher. For this launcher,i only like the application drawer,it looks nice and fresh(i mean that transparent/glass alike drawer make the wallpaper visible from app drawer),left and right scrolling, manageable and beautiful icon, but its not customizable,i don't need to much home screen,3 will be enough for me.
Can Some1 mod this both launcher into 1?it will be nice and i really2 appreciate to your job.
Thanks

So umm, I see a lot of people talking about "changing the launcher". But I do not know what a launcher is. I see it in my settings (running MIUI on my Infuse 4G).
So my question, and yes I know I probably sound like a knowledgeless-fool. But, what is a launcher?
A launcher is an interface replacement that gives u a new home screen and app drawer. U can customize it a lot according to ur choice
Best are go launcher, adw and launcher pro
I think this will help you. if it does please THANK me.

Like ICS said, a launcher changes your homescreen and appdrawer, making it prettier and sometimes even more useful. I haven't used MIUI personally. Maybe it comes with a launcher, and maybe it has some features that a new launcher would duplicate. I know CM7 comes with ADW Launcher.
My favourite things about LauncherPro: First, you can change the homescreen grid size. Second, you can swipe between multiple docks. You can make dock icons link to activities, not just applications. And you can assign different shortcuts for swiping a dock icon. So if I press the phone icon, it goes to the dialer; if I swipe it, it goes to the call log. Plus any launcher is going to be prettier than stock, but MIUI is beautiful itself.
There's no harm in trying out a couple of different launchers. I prefer LP, others prefer Go or ADW. I know Go and ADW are much more theme-able. The only thing is that with a rom like MIUI that already looks good, a new launcher might look out of place.
Launcher is the bit you see and use when your not running an app or making a phone call.
You can change it easily by going to the android market and downloading a new one like nemus launcher or go launcher ex.
Once downloaded they will auto install. You can try the new launcher without changing your current one by pressing phones home button.
Menu pops up asking which launcher to use, choose the name of the new one and try it out.
If you want to keep it press home again but before choosing new launcher this time tick the box it shows saying "use as default launcher".
If you don't like it just do the same with the tick but choose your original launcher instead.

I.. do not understand.. So it is like a theme?
Not exactly. It's a replacement.
For example, suppose ur running the stock eclair with the slide up vertical app drawer
Now, u want a button to launch the drawer., and u want it to be horizontal. How will u do it?
Enter Launchers
It replaces the drawer with its own, and its own dock bar
In short, it is not a theme, but a replacement that CAN BE THEMED

You know Sense, AOSP and Touchwhiz? Well they are default "Launchers"
Launchers can be downloaded from the market w/o root.
They are like a different style of homescreen...
The launcher is the programm you use to launch or start an app on your phone. The launchers UI (User Interface) is what you see as your home screen. Changing the launchers behaviour means changing the way icons are displayed or the pages flip. It lets you customize the way your phones OS feels and looks.
Does this answer your initial question?

If you are running ICS, Nova Launcher is a good one to check out too. It can be found in the Google Play Store. There is a pay version, but the normal one is fully featured IMO. Of course, try out a few and see what you prefer for your setup. When I hit the home button on my phone, it lets me select which launcher it uses by default so you can swap them out.
Hey Guys,
I am in dire need of a launcher I like. I have a Galaxy S II i9100 running CM10. The only Launcher I have used that I love 100% is TouchWiz ironically... But the battery control is too poor to justify a switch back to Stock Roms (And no Jelly Bean!?)
I have tried the extracted TouchWiz launchers and they provide everything I want but all of them crash far to often...
So I am looking for a launcher that will meet my desires (I am willing to pay for it).
1) App View type Ordered List of Apps in Alphabetical Order. (Not the 4x4 grid I want the 1x30 ordered list)
2) Pinch Zoom of the Home Screens to view all home-screens
3) Re-sizable widgets
Thanks Guys,
Joshua Puckett

I looked at Nova a while back, I will re-download it and check it out, thanks. I seem to remember that I couldn't do a list style, Attached is a screenshot of the feature mentioned in 1)... it is the one I want the most.
EDIT: Confirmed that Nova doesn't have the Ordered List feature. Thanks for the advice though.

yhea i am not too pleased with its sorting style but apart from that i am very much pleased with the launcher. perhaps there is a way to sort apps the way u want as well as custom place the apps especially inside the apps menu
have u tried apex? i love it. used on my s2 & s3..
