Reverting back to 1.6 Stock ROM - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi friends,
I liked the face detection and smile detection in the default camera app in the stock 1.6 ROM.
I presently installed a custom CM 6.1.3 ROM and i would like to revert back to 1.6 stock for the camera purpose.
Please let me know how can i possibily downgrade to 1.6 Stock.Pls provide any links with such information.

No need to go back to the shockingly bad 1.6 to get stock camera as the custom 2.1 ROMs have it. Try Bitsnacker as it is smooth, stable and has what you are looking for. There is a thread however with the 1.6 ROMs if you must - have a search.

so bitsnacker has a camera app with face detection and HD camera? Please provide me the link for the ROm as im facing difficulties in finding the correct one.
Im now using CM 6.1.3 gingerbread V01.so do u think i shud flash bitsnacker now

hope I helped http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12330981#post12330981

The theme is an awesome looking one,
but i would prefer flashing the stock rom and putting the bitsnacker theme in it instead of the bitsnacker rom itself.
Keep in mind that bitsnacker theme has a lot more features/icons that are missing in the rom.

do this
first of all download any global generic 1.6 firmware of x10i
it will be .ftp extention...
then put this file in flashtool/firmware folder
then put ur x10i in debugging mode and connect with pc with flashtool opened first ...
when it detects ur phone simply click on flash and select flash mode and then the firmware which u kept in firmware folder....thats it... let it flash

There isn't a list of the 'Top 5 Roms' because everyone has there own preference. I would recommend that you look around & install what catches your eye, if you don't like it.. Try something else.
wat about the unlock issue then?? will my phone get locked again if i install a rom??

[Q] Steve.Adams baseband update

I have no problem with using the flashtool, downloading the sin file, etc. But the step that says DO NOT let it boot and immediately go into xrecovery is what worries me. I love trying all the new ROMs, but am still always go back to a custom 2.1 because of the cam/videocam, plus no stereo bluetooth dropouts.
My question is, after I do this to update the baseband and flash 2.2 Beta 4 via xrecovery. Can I go back to my old custom 2.1 with older baseband via xrecovery and then switch back and forth via xrecovery afterward? I just don't feel like flashing the entire firmware, rooting, adding JIT v2, then removing all of the SE apps AGAIN for like the 10th time.
u can install any rom on .435 firmware..
u cant install beta 4 on any lower firmware(.24,etc)..
so update to .435 and stay..
happy flashing

Im not entirely sure thats true because it seemed that those with the newer baseband seemed to be having issues with other roms prior to z's beta 4... can someone confirm?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
its mentioned clearly in z's post about using the latest base band. as for Steve's recommendation of not letting it boot, i guess i must have missed it when i upgraded the base band while on 2.1 customised, but the only worst thing that happened was i didn't got any signal on my phone, everything else worked fine, it didn't mattered coz i was to install free x10 v4. and its a fine job done by z. the ROM is great. add green glow theme on it, and nothing's like it.
about xrecovery backup able to change your base band back with restore, i haven't tried it myself, i guess xrecovery devs will be the best guys to check if you're not sure.

what info do you want exactly?
It's a custom 2.3 rom
You need to root your phone, then install xrecovery, then flash the baseband with flashtools & then flash the rom's zip file with xrecovery
If you follow the steps in my first link (the one to Sony) you will be rooted and have xrecovery installed.
Then the fun starts.
The geniuses (geninui?) on here have Custom Roms which you can install through xrecovery.
The rom is basically your operating system. You are most likely on stock SE 2.1 which is OK but any time I have had to go back I ain't stayed long.
I recommend 2.2 its a good way to start and it's solid. Also sync your contacts to gmail.

installed open optimus, facing issues

I couldnt find relevant answers bt searching so i am creating a new thread.
I just now installed open optimus rom for 2.3.3(build 2.202.1)
2.6.35.14-franco kernel
i followed this thread
now i am facing some problems
when usb debugging is on, and i plug in usb, it tickers usb debugging connected and then phone freezes, and reboots and keeps on rebooting itself. windows keeps on finding and losing the phone. so i cannot connect in debugging mode. However when i disable debugging and enable mass storage only i can access the mass storage mode
also phone freezes up when i run certain apps(like proxydroid)
and refreshes(ie does not reboots but does some kind of reset of launcher etc which is fast)
secondly
the theme is very dark, i want a more light theme.
edit: i liked the gingerbread theme, this one is bluish, i want black like gingerbread. plz tell how to do i change to gingerbread theme
this is first time i am installling custom rom, (i had upgraded my phone to 2.3.3 manually some days back though)
What should i do to get debugging mode
plz some1 reply to this thread
yes even me faced some problems with open optimus (gingerbread), it has some bugs.
I suggest change your rom ?
ya, i did that, went back to my backuped 2.3.3 stock rom.
i guess i have to say, all custom roms have some bugs, so u cant use them if u want just stable and reliable use of ur phone.
if anyone can suggest a custom rom with no freezes, crashes, and most functionality working, ill be very happy to switch
and i would like to say that i upgraded to 2.3.3 from froyo using info from mak.3736 signature. so thanks to u

This isnt true.I think the most stable custom roms arexygen rom, aosp rom, mik's cm7(both stable & testing) and Andy's rom(but it has video bug,but i cn live without it).And almost all froyo roms are stable.
can u plz tell which rom, kernel u using, is it bug free? and i want gingerbread roms only.. coz stock gingerbread looks way more cool than stock froyo and since i have baseband v20 i dont want to change it.
thanks..
I m using the openoptimus rom I suggest u reflash ur rom and cleaar the dalvik cache from recovery to solve the problems u are facing. The only bug in this rom m facing is tethering errors

ok ill trying it again, this time i wiped dalvik cache too.
EDIT: it is working properly now. i guess the problem resolves after wiping dalvik cache and reflashing rom
and how to theme this rom? i want it to closely resemble gingerbread rom in terms of colors
i am still facing crashes or freezeups afterwhich phone kinda reboots. i guess ill stick to stock rom.
if you want to switch to gingerbread cutom roms
first downgrade baseband to v10 follow : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1217504
then you can flash mik's rom or andy's rom or aosp or oxygen , all are good, but as you are new you might like mik's rom 6.5.8 , as according to my view its more stable and most of the functionality working.
ok ill try mik rom sometime(its the one by mik_os cm7 rit 6.5.8-beta1)?
also tell me how can i add powermenu, remove some stock crapware apps and other goodies to a stock rom 2.3.3 , kinda what cyber_avjit did. his rom cannot be downloaded, none of download link is working
i know there is a 'kitchen' but i am a not a pro cook.
so i need some cooking tips too.
thanks for ur patience to bear with me
for building power menu there is a thread in xda (search it)
for removing stock apps from rom you can use titanium back up, but remember there are some apps that should not be removed (if removed causes force close or boot loops), there is a thread in xda (search) which tells which app from stock rom can be removed safely.
If u want stock then I suggest aga rom I used and I really like this rom

[Q] 2.1 upgrade to 2.3

t's been awhile since my last upgrade, my X10a is still on 2.1-update1 firmware, baseband 2.1.54, kernel version 2.6.29 with build number 2.1.A.0.435
How to flash to latest 2.3 ?
You can upgrade to gingerbread with with pc companion..
but stock 2.3 from SE is very laggy & slow so install a custom gingerbread rom like Wolfs TW Gingerbread v7
Wolfs TW Gingerbread v7 is a very god rom. it has no bugs, no fcs its very smooth
I do want a custom rom, but can I just flash thru recovery? Given that I'm already rooted.
Yes, flash thru xRecovery

No, you need the baseband 71 as well and that needs flashtool....
Read the OP to any custom rom you want to flash.
Or, use pccompanion to upgrade to stock 2.3 then whilst you are there you can use flashtool to
a) root
b) ask root permissions
c) Install xrecovery (0.3 GB ready)
d) Unlock bootloader (Optional step)
then flash the rom of your choice...

I didn't have any lag on the stock 2.3.3 when I used it for a few weeks, about half unrooted, then rooted, and no lag either way. If you have 2.3.3 and lag check your running programs. Our phones are computers now so just like with a pc if you have too much in the background everything gets slow. When I was on stock 2.3.3 my phone was new so I was installing ALL sorts of things finding out what I liked but I always checked settings and permissions of things I was trying out. Bottom line you shouldn't have lag on 2.3.3.
