Change Uastring in default browser? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, received my s2 this afternoon after changing from HD2. Been playing around and have tried the about:config and about:debug method to change the default uastring and neither seem to work. Does anybody know how to get the brower to view desktop pages by default?

Has already been addressed. Next time use search please.
You change the UA string by typing in about:useragent
A menu should pop up asking which one to choose.

a permanent method wouldn't go amiss tho!

Uastring in default browser??

When i hange the Uastring in default browser to desktop mode, everything is ok. But when i use the browser again later, it's back to mobile version. Any way to make this permanently?
Any news on this?
I find it really annoying to type the useragent command to change the uastring every time I use the browser

Stock Browser about:debug Settings

Type "about:debug" in the address bar of the stock browser and then go.
Go to browser settings and you will see a new section with more options.
UAString is easy as it basicaly tells the internet what kind of device you have.
Can someone explain the other settings?
Great find
It doesn't really stick, though. You will have to keep setting it. Dolphin is a lot better about using in Desktop mode.
As for the other options, no idea.

[Q] Changing Browser User Agent in TouchWiz

I changed UAString to Desktop in debug mode but websites still load as mobile. Any idea how to do it properly?
Wish I knew, but I so far haven't heard anything about it in terms of a solution. Its one of the only things holding me back from flashing TouchWiz, because I know it would aggravate me way to much
I've tried using the stock browser apks from the xoom, transformer, galaxy tab 10.1 on the touchwiz rom and still nothing. I think I'm doing something wrong though.
Also, how about a fullscreen mode in the stock TouchWiz browser? I have found no way to do this like in all other browsers. The top bar is always showing I think.
And Jesus, no re-flow of text on pages to resize to fit when zoomed in right? F'in riduclous.
My problem is the opposite, I cannot get out of full screen mode. WTF!!!!!
Nevermind, I have some type of popup that occurs when I touch the right side of the bezel.
you can change the UA string the exact same way that you would in any other android phone.. just type "about:debug" into the address bar, then go into settings and select "debug" tab. It's the second setting.
@gdog1977, you have quick controls enabled in the "labs" tab of the settings. touch and hold either side of the screen until a menu pops up, move your finger to the very bottom icon(four horizontal lines), select "settings" in the popup, and then select the "labs" tab on the left. then de-select the "quick controls" option.

Yes most of us are quite well aware of the about:debug mode, but again the problem is not switching it to the desktop UA, it is getting that setting to actually stick after reboots, etc. Anybody have any other ideas??

hmm.. I've never had this problem. no idea why not.

UA settings

Just a little how-to change the user agent.
+ in the default browser type about:debug in to the adress bar. Press enter. Looks like nothing happens. Thats right!
+ now go to settings there should be a new option called debug.
+ under debug you will find the ua settings.
You can now choose for android, desktop, iphone or ipad
I made the change but not see any difference.
It works, but gets reverted back to android when you turn off the tablet.
I like Dolphin browser better.
It works. Thank you.

Awesome, now Words with friends on facebook will stop redirecting me to the market. Honeycomb version of Words doesnt support syncing with Facebook.
Thanks!

2 questions regarding prime docking

Hi All,
i wonder if anyone can help me
my first question is
when the prime is connected to the dock and the default keyboard is set to ASUS
i can change Language by clicking CTRL+Space but when i have my own Keyboard selected CTRL+space does not change anything
is there a way to switch between Languages when the default keyboard is not ASUS?
my second question is:
is there a way to change or modify what the keyboard shortcuts open
lets say i want the Browser button to open the Chrome browser and not the default
is there a way?

Hi!
First answer:
Each keyboard handles language changes in it's own way, so there is no general answer to your question.
Second Question: Frankly I don't know... Ideally Asus would change the key to just call the internet activity which brings either an option list of Browsers installed or opens up the default browser.

I know. A silly choice by Asus. Fortunately, user agentdr8 came up with a solution with a hacked Keyboard.apk that will make the browser button launch whatever is the default browser. Works perfectly.
See the thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1497624
You do need to be rooted to do this, however.
Hope this helps.
I hope insome actualization we get a control ofand on of the dock chargin the prime, but not all is perfect
