[Q] How to see why my LEAP wifi connection drops - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So my wifi connection at home (WRT54GS) is fine and does not drop. However at work (LEAP with b/g routers) the wifi connection will drop from time to time, both when idle and when I'm using the phone.
I have the dmesg output but am not sure what to look for that would indicate a problem with the wifi connection. I don't see any of the following in the log:
dhdsdio_
dhd_ioctl
I do see the following, which seems to be normal:
<6>[329792.623745] disp_backlight_power_off: display backlight is powered off
<4>[329792.623815] dhd_set_suspend: force extra Suspend setting
<6>[329792.624639] kxtf9_misc_ioctl: SET_DELAY 200
<4>[329792.643007] dhd_cfg_dtim_skip: AP settings: beacon 100 dtim 2
<4>[329792.645015] dhd_set_suspend: force extra Suspend setting: done
<6>[329792.646667] tegra_display_off: power off notification

[Q] Barnacle Wifi Tether - how to get working?

I am having real trouble trying to get Barnacle Wifi Tether to work
I am running windows 7 and am able to detect Barnacle in my wireless networks. I get a full 5 bar excellent signal. When I try and connect, the phone seems to connect, as Barnacle confirms connection in the log. There is though as problem, as in the wirless network tab on the taskbar there is an exclamation mark and when I hover over it with the mouse it reads: Barnacle no internet access
Following something I read on a previous forum I set my Barnacle settings as following
BSSID - nothing entered
Wireless ENcryption - disabled
Access contrtol: restirct NAT to selected MAC address - disabled
Custom Wifi Ad-hoc - none
Skip wpa_supplicant - enabled
WAN - tiwlan0
LAN - tiwlanO
DHCP:
Gateway: 192.168.5.1
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
First Host: current 100
Number of Hosts: 100
Lease Time: 1200
DNS 1 - nothing entered
DNS 2 - nothing entered
NAT:
First Port current: 32000
Number of Ports current: 300
Queue Length current: 100
Timeout: 30
Timeout TCP current: 90
I would be greateful if anyone could tell me how I can get this working? ARe my settins correct? Is there anything I could change. I have tried chaning the channel but that has no effect. Any ideas what I can do to get this working?
I have looked at other forum posts but am still not having any luck.
I think I have sorted it has I have now left the WAN and LAN field empty. I then connect and then I have to press associate once connected otherwise it does not work. My only problem is that it seems very slow and I get frequent drops in connection. I think the download speed is around 3kb/s and the upload around 1 kb/s. I am not in the best converage area, however this is much slower than when I use the phone to browse the internet without a pc. I seem to be getting only a 2 bar signal. When I broswe the internet directly from the phone I can get at 3 - 4 bar signal. What is going on? I can at least play youtube videos when using the phone on it's own, however due to the slow speed this is not possible with tethering.
Something must be wrong, my 3G signal is exactly the same wether im tethering or not..
Also my PC is putting out about 1.4mbit DL & 0.3mbit on wifi tether, same as the phone alone..

Wifi Sleep Test...

Quick test for those that are having high battery drain due to the newest firmware release, with lots of usage being attributed to wifi...
If you have the wifi sleep policy set to never (Settings, Wifi, Advanced Wifi, Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep = Never), if you turn off the prime, can you still ping the IP address listed that's assigned to the prime when it's in sleep mode?
If I set it to sleep / close the dock, wait 5 mins or so, then ping it's IP address, I get a few timeouts then it starts responding...
If I start pinging it when it's awake, I get ~250ms pings, if I sleep the prime it times out a few times then the ping jumps to 700ms odd...
To me - this indicates that the wifi's not sleeping properly, when you sleep the prime it should stop responding entirely...
Does anyone else get this?
I've never had a wi-fi battery problem issue so far.
But there a setting in Asus Customized Settings, all the way down 'Disconnect Network during Sleep'
it at the very least logs you off Skype and doesn't sync/receive emails when you close the lid on with the dock.
Cheers

Correct.. but 21 increased battery drain, probably because of changes in WiFi power. They wanted to fix the weaker reception, many are experiencing.
Otherwise, you suggestions are very good.
There is another thread about it...

Internet connection unstable notification

I updated my AT&T Galaxy S3 to Android 4.3 a few weeks ago.
Ever since then, I routinely get a notification that says "Your Internet Connection is Unstable".
It seems to happen each time I turn my bluetooth connection on.
Phone on > connected to my home wifi (2.4 gHz) > bluetooth is off > turn bluetooth on > get the "internet connection unstable" message.
If I keep my bluetooth off, then I never get this notification.
I have already wiped the cache partition as noted from thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2484032
Has anybody else noticed this "coincidence"?
Blooth Drivers
I think BlueThooth Driver Or Wifi Drivers Are Not Perfectly Installed ..
Or Check By Connecting To Other Wifi Networks.
Press Thanks If i Helped
FIXED
Here's what I did:
My router is an ASUS RT66U and I was connected to the 2.4 gHz band. There is a setting called "b/g protection". I turned this off and my phone no longer shows this notification when I turn on bluetooth.
Ultimately, I ended up using the 5 gHz band on the router because it seems that the 2.4 gHz causes some interference with the bluetooth because they both share that 2.4 gHz band.
Wifi
U Mean when u off bluetooth the unstable notification automatically goes...

[WIFI ping drops when idle] high ping when phone left in idle for a while

when phone left in idle for a little while, pinging the phone from a computer within the same network (under the same router) results in hight latency and unstable connection, turning wifi off & on again fixes the issue.
as you can see in the attachments

Turn wifi on automatically

Hi all,
I have a problem
Samsung S9+ / Oreo 8
WiFi does not automatically turn on near saved networks any more.
Have tried:
-restart phone
-reset network settings
-put on airplane mode
-make hotspot
-uncheked the option, restart the phone, check the option
When i turn the WiFi manually it Auto-connects to the saved network.
Android build
R16NW.G965FXXS2BRI1
Phone does not enable the wifi automatically in places where I have the wifi network saved.
Network wifi is checked to "Turn on Wi-Fi automatically" and in Improve accuracy settings, Wi-Fi scanning and Bluetooth scanning are also turned on.
When I am at home or in a place where I use the saved wifi network, I must enable the wifi manually (toggle the wifi button on) and the phone connects to that wifi with no problem.
I aven tried to boot in safe mode and see if there it enables the wifi automatically and it did not. What i did:
-disabled manually the wi-fi
-restarted the phone into safe mode
-the wi-fi staid disabled although the option to turn on automatically wifi and wi-fi scanning were turned on. the wifi signal was full bar also.
I have noticed that when disabling the power saving feature(which was on medium with background data enabled) my wifi network was added to frequently used networks. I disabled it manually and restarted the phone. When the phone booted, the WiFi turned itself on.
Then i enabled the power saving feature also on medium with background data enabled, i turned off the WiFi manually, immediately i got a notification that my network was taken out from frequently used network. I disabled the power saving feature, restarted the phone and again the WiFi does not turn automatically on.
