I hate to ask for this, but I have not been able to find a stock splash image file in this subforum.
I am going to exchange my MT4G, and un-rooting and flashing stock ROM is easy enough, but I really want to put the splash screen back to stock also.
I have searched for it with no luck. I recall it was posted somewhere but cannot find it. Hoping someone will have it handy or can post a link.

I think there is an explanation how to do it for "any" rooted rom. Of course it is far from being straightforward... As an android newbie it would take me a lot's of time to get into it, but it might be possible to do for more experienced users.
But the main problem here is still how could Samsung let happen that setting Desktop permanently actually requires hack

There is a bootanimation software that is out there. Don't have the link but searching it will get you there. If you search Texas Tech University you can see some of what I did and used. I would try to help more but I'm on phone right now. Also you can check all of my post history.

just a boot animation? there are literally hundreds of tutorials on xda. im pretty sure there was one in the portal news at one point too.

Don't have the url handy, just do a search of the forum - it actually works.
There is a post helpfully listing stock roms, and also custom roms for the amaze.

hey guys, I am somewhat new to rooting. I have rooted the strat, but that was useless as I'm sure you all know. I am trying to root my thunderbolt using the all-in-one tool but when it tries to reboot into recovery, it shows "!" inside a triangle. can anyone help me here?

Its ICS, if you go to Santods forum. Infectedrom.com you can find the way there but there's more to it than the all in one. Its a little harder but not much. You do have to make an account to view the forums though, but that's not really a hindrance.

you need to unlock your bootloader before anything, you can do that at htcdev.com
