motorola atrix bluetooth problem - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi guyz....
i had posted earlier regarding the problem in bluetooth in my phone...
it doesnt switch on....
i saw somewhere that after moving a file named sdp in the/data/misc/bluetoothd/..../ bluetooth will work.....i moved it using root explorer
i moved the file to my sdcard....my bluetooth worked once and then stopped working.....
now i tried moving the file back to the original place and now the properties of the file as seen in root explorer is showing owner:system and group:sd-ext....
instead all other files in the folder is showing owner:bluetooth group:bluetooth....
i guess i have made a mistake trying to move the sdp file....someone pls suggest me a way to revert back back to normal.....
no matter what i do my bluetooth is not reverting back to normal....
thanks

[Q] Removing Camera sound local.prop problem

hey, i got a virgin mobile s2 yesterday and i rooted and unlocked with
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13715727
and galaxy s unlock on the market.
im assuming it went well since i have the yellow triangle and my rogers sim now works.
i got root explorer and followed instructions on making "local.prop" in data with "ro.camera.sound.forced=0" but it hasnt been working.
is there any known problems with my type of combination
Virgin
XWKDD_insecure.tar
or any other help at all?
Im totally new to this and i dont want to mess anything up by using another rom or something because i need it before a flight tomorrow morning.
You could delete the following using root explorer:
/system/media/audio/ui/camera_click.ogg
/system/media/audio/ui/camera_click_short.ogg
/system/media/audio/ui/Shutter_01.ogg
That way you delete the audio file the camera uses. If you don't want to do it as a permanent solution, you could backup the files if you want to restore them.
hmm i already tried to rename those files in root explorer but i got a no permission error. but your post brought me back to it and i successfully renamed them after turning on "mount r/w".
Thanks! lol
Although it would have been cool to keep the sounds and only make it silent when it was in silent mode :/

[Q] How to modify a system file?

Hi there,
I upgraded my Galaxy 551 to Gingerbread 2.3.6. All went well. Unfortunately it seems to be a common side effect that the Z and Y keys (and some others) get swapped. The fix is apparently to modify the file /system/usr/keychars/sec_keypad.kcm.bin. The ideal thing is to put the old file from before the FW update back in, but of course I don't have that anymore! But the existing one can apparently be altered. If I can copy it to the SD card I can alter it in a hex editor and put it back.
So, I rooted my phone with that one click application, and that went OK too. I installed root explorer and found the file. There were also some others in the same folder I may be able to use. But, I cant make the folder R/W (pressing the button does nothing) so cant do anything with the file. I also tried Super Manager with no luck.
I am new to the phone fiddling stuff so noob level instructions would be appreciated!
Think I have it sorted. I installed superuser and then Root Explorer allowed me to select read/write. Now to try sort out this file!
OK, seems that you need to edit the file /system/usr/keylayout/sec_keypad.kl. Did that. DO'H now my keyboard doesn't work at all! Glad it saved a backup for me! Not sure what I did wrong, only edited two characters in a text file! Even the power button doesn't work. Got to pull that battery out LOL!
It seems when the file was saved it was saved with zero size. When I try to delete it to replace it with the backup it says cant delete, read only. So, not sure how I am meant to replace this and fix this problem.
Any ideas, remembering that I cant actually use any buttons on the phone!

[Q] Galaxy S3 wifi hangs at turning on

Hi guys, i'm a galaxy s3 user for only 1 month. I have my phone rooted today by cf-root with no problems. Then i replaced my wpa_supplicant file with the file given in that thread
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=854913
I'm using rootexplorer to reach the system folder. I restarted my phone and the wifi seems bricked (it hangs turning on). I have a backup of my original wpa_supplicant file and copied it into the folder system/bin, but nothing changed, the wifi still hangs turning on. My question is, can you post the original wpa_supplicant file? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My phone is rooted with cf-root v-6.4 kit, and running on 3.0.15.782020 stock kernel, and the baseband ver. is I9300XXLFB.
EDIT: I have solved my problem. It probably caused by permissions. If you need help, please feel free to contact through pm
EDIT 2: I added my original wpa_supplicant file with a screenshot which shows the permissions of wpa_supp. file for those having the same problem. I will check the wpa_supplicant file to find out if i can do anything to show the ad-hoc networks, developing aside, i am a total noob if i succeed, then will write back again.

Hi, unfortunately, it is impossible to show adhoc networks on our devices, at least now... If your pc is running on windows 7, you can try a virtual hotspot application that makes your wifi visible to your phone. I am using windows xp, so there is no way but waiting for a fix.

Since then only sometimes it starts working and again gives the same error. I also checked the permissions, they are exactly what u have on your ss.

yup...i dont think file permission are the issue....but its the file if you keep wrong for the first time and restart phone, your're done...whichever file u add later either correct or wrong...android wont consider it...i donno but i have experience like that...now i have reflashed the phone and trying to add correct file for the first time...lets see the result... soon will update...
if you restore the origional file and then reboot your phone then it will go back to stock the vold.fstab file is read when ever the phone is booted you may need to hard reset the phone but a reflash is not needed

[Q] Can no longer write to Android/Obb in JB 4.2?

So after updating to Android JB 4.2 I can no longer write to the ' SdCard/Android/Obb ' directory.
Can anyone confirm if they are having this problem too? Is it due to this stupid and annoying feature that google has now implemented that they wish to check all .apk files before they are able to be installed? I turned this off in settings but it seems that it turns itself back on again after every reboot?
I cannot write to the directory from my PC via USB cable or even through a root app despite the phone telling me that I have -Rw access to the folder and all of it's subfolders etc.
I even tried writing via Linux but it doesn't work either... even if I try and force a write.. plus I cannot access the internal memory when the phone is booted down...
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.
Think you need to have root Explorer to write to obb
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Before upgrading I could write to the directory from either my PC or Root Explorer or Solid Explorer. Now I can't seem to write to it at all. So it's not that unfortunately...
R: [Q] Can no longer write to Android/Obb in JB 4.2?
As far as i can remember u can edit the obb directory even without root....but i'm an android kinda novice.
Try another file browser from the phone (the one from rhythm software is very good).
Might also be that problem with directory permissions that get mixed up to which clockwork mod always refers to (they have an option to fix directory problems).
Android, i have noticed, can get corrupted easily, have you done some serious modding to your cel phone or just root and small patching?

I've been trying a string of different things for a couple of days...
I've tried root explorer pro, when I press copy it finishes instantly but nothing is happening.
R/w is on..
I tried solid explorer pro, it instantly says "the file(s) could not be copied"
Tried "Fix Permissions" from CWM...
Tried copying from Windows. It copies up to 99% then says: "The directory is no longer available, it may have been removed"
The connection is fine, and I can copy to all other folders no matter where. EXCEPT for this folder..
I am 99.9% sure that it's due to this annoying new Android Guard thing in the settings that asks to scan everything. Even if I turn it off, I bet that it still has some sort of affect. It's probably just denying all writes from outside an accepted source..
This really angers me. I don't want my phone to have ANY directories that I cannot write to. Especially seeing as I have to often copy files back and forth from this folder when I make updates to the 2 games I am developing..
There was no problem before updating to 4.2 and this Android Guard thing.
I'm willing to try all suggestions.. Thanks
are you using the leaked 4.2.1 rom from samsung? or a 4.2.1 aosp rom?

I'm using Android HD Revolution. It's apparently an 'official leaked' one with just the 'improvements' that Mike etc. do.
Thanks also for your reply. I'm trying to keep my device current so I can stay on top of releasing updates, but I really can't do that if I can't fix this issue. I've put it off for awhile now but it's really stalled the development process /tear

If you mean using ARHD 30.* that is not official, that is the leaked version of 4.2.1, that mike has tweaked
Before flashing ROMs, read changelists carefully please:good:
Ok well then I missed the play on words, it's not 'official' but it's a leaked version. Mike, or whoever updates the thread doesn't usually provide a very verbose changelog.
So I take it that absolutely no one here on XDA has any idea as to why I cannot write to this 'specific' area in my partition?
I have the same problem with Galaxy S4. I rooted the device but this didn't help.
I have tried loading files to obb in Windows 7, ES File Explorer, AntTek Explorer - but no results.
Edit://
I solved my problem using AntTek Explorer (root) and the path is next:
Device root/storage/sdcard0/android/obb - then I had permissions to copy files there.
I hope it help.

I forgot to write back. I solved my problem by just wiping my device and flashing a new rom. It ended up being a rom issue. No problems now.
hello there,
wondering if there is anyways to copy obb files on galaxy s4 without root?
or even make the app read obb file from where else ?

Search youtube for-How to move OBB file to Android/obb! Android 4.2 Phone! ..
Hope that helps..
reading changelogs doesn't help the problem..
and @leijonasisu probably it would've been bad flash.. but before i say that you should change rom and check once again.. you gotta see if there was any write protection to the specific folder.. so try using an FTP client, if you still cant get access, then you gotta change the rom and try again
