Fenny Webtop mod question - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im trying to do Fennys webtop mod with the adb method but when I connect my phone to the computer with debugging on and the files on my c drive I go to the command primp and im on my computer c drive and I add the commands it doesn't recognize them. I think I should be on the phone not my c drive but how do I do that? I already have root. Thanks for the help!

If you're talking about the webtop hack without dock, then you can push the files over through ADB. I have GladEnable on my C: drive for easy access.
Go to your command prompt and go to a folder with ADB (ie: 'cd C:\gladenable')
When my device is hooked up, I used 'adb devices' to check if my device is recognized. Then I issue whatever commands I need to do.

Thanks for the reply. Ill try that.

you have to open a command prompt in the folder where adb.exe is stored. you don't need to run the program itself, just run commands necessary to do whatever hack you're trying to do. if you just put the apk files in the same folder as adb.exe then use "adb push" commands and such (whatever is detailed in the instructions)
to open a command prompt in the folder, i think you can just right click and select "Open command prompt here" (i know that's in win7, not too sure about xp)
also - this is the wrong section to post this. it should be in the Q&A section, not development.

Why are you using super one click on your atrix? Gingerbreak or gladroot is the preferred method for the atrix.

i know i can adb pull but what would be the command to actually browse the system...
Use the command "adb shell" and browse as you would on your OS through the command prompt.
ex: for PCs for listing use the command "dir" and "cd" to navigate through folders
ex: for Macs you would have to use "ls"

adb logcat -f /sdcard/output.txt
hit return and i get a blinking cursor. nothing else appears to happen. am i mssing something? is there another way to create and view/save the logcat output?
thanks

wouldn't it be:
Code:
adb shell
logcat > /sdcard/logcat.txt

GingerBreak not working/starting/opening.

Hello,
I just got my first Android phone, the Atrix 4g. So I'm relatively new to Rooting although I have jailbroken my iPod and my iPhone but I know jailbreaking is much easier and simple. My problem is that when I try to start GingerBreak.exe, nothing happens. I've installed all the drivers, set the USB Connection to "None", and turned on Debugging. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but when I start GingerBreak.exe, I suppose it appears on your phone but nothing appears or opens on my phone nor computer.
Can anyone help me? Anything is appreciated!
Thanks!
Edit: BTW, I have an external MicroSD card mounted as well.
Get adb and type adb devices in command prompt

Blehh, as I've said, I'm new so can you please tell me what adb is and where to get it?
And how would I use it?
Download adb from superoneclick. Using command prompt navigate to the directory. Then type adb devices.

Fixed guys.
It couldn't detect the phone because I needed to download the MotoHelper drivers from the Motorola websites, the x64 drivers downloaded from the guide didn't contain the Motorola ADB Interface driver.

ADB? Where is it... LOL

Well I'm a noob to XDA and Android and I decided to root my Note.
Well the rooting is done, now I'm trying to find out where I access ADB from? I have the Android SDK on my computer and it has a dos program that just executes and exits quickly without any input from me.
Thanks in advance.
Try this link, shows u how to set up adb.

if you search anywhere for ADB you will find information everywhere. you can start with the official http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/tools/adb.html but there are even more links to simpler guides.
Go to the android sdk folder open up tools..shift+right click mouse. Select open cmd prompt here. Plug your phone into your computer. Type adb devices. If drivers are installed properly and USB debugging is turned on you should get a response back with your phones serial number.
It might be alt + right click ..or ctrl+ right click...I'm not near a CPU right now.

[Q] What is "ADB" and how to run it?

Hello all, I've been really happy with my XPS ever synce I've root it and everything is working clockwork, except there is something eating my battery.
I've used "BetterBatteryStats" app, and i've got a parcial wakelock "AlarmManager" in 1st place.
I've read that to know eacly what app is waking the phone i've got to connect the phone to a Pc, run "ADB" and type "adb shell dumsys alarm > C:\alarm_log.txt".
This will creat a log file that will show what app is generating all those wake numbers, and then unistall or limit it.
The problewm is... what is ADB.EXE??? Where can i get that program for the pc? Does the phone have to be in USB debuggin mode? If someone help me I'll post a guide to anyone in need to find the problematic apps that eat battery for others noobs out there!

As the above is saying you should search n read a lot... there are guides all over in net in many n here xda as well... Its a good start by learning urself from the help already here..

2. Here is a guide to set up SDK... http://www.talkandroid.com/guides/developer/android-sdk-install-guide/
4. Browse to folder platform-tools adb.exe is inside... but u can't just click open it.. adb is used via command prompt (cmd)
5. Easy way to open cmd to adb is Shift+ right click -> click open cmd here
6. To connect phone in adb u have to enable usb debugging mode as u said..
7.Then start typing commands....
Thank you a lot for the aswer!
I DID goodle for the answer, but I had an hard time undestanding what I should do, I'm a pharmacist, not a technician.

To perform this actions, is it mandatory that phone needs to be rooted?
Because, i followed all the steps, when i executed the command in cmd prompt, i got below info
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
/system/bin/sh: dumsys: not found
What should i need to do now if phone doesn't needed to be rooted?
For using adb not necessarily ur phone rooted... but if u need to get anything insdie system folder ur phone needs root access... you can pull/push files from adb.. but it makes more easier if u do those for sdcard via windows explorer after connecting via usb..
In short its for rooted devices mostly.....
Ok, still need help on this one.
I've followed all the steps, installed SDK, phone in development, command line accepted, but then I check the log file I get this:
/system/bin/sh: dumsys: not found
So... Why is it now finding my phone? any idea? When am i supposed to connect the phone to the pc?
Thank you for the help!
