Question on cooking - P3400 ROM Development

Hi,
can someone tell me more about pagepool and how to improve performence with page pool.I found that when i used lower pagepool i got more free RAM and when i used higher , i got less free RAM.

Pagepool has something to do with memory management. The higher the pagepool, the smoother the rom and lesser free ram. Lesser pagepool = laggy rom but higher free ram.

How to upgrade Atom Life RAM from 64 MB to 128/256/512 MB ?

hello professional developer,
Does anyone know how to upgrade atom life RAM from 64 MB to like 128/256/512 MB?
Thank you
nothing? thanks
If we can do it, My PPC will become immortal. PPC not like Pc, it can change RAM now. if it can, please teach me
this won't never happen cosz there is only one RAM slot in the mainboard and the maximum size of RAM the kind which can be used in ATOM LIFE is 64M,so there is no way to upgrate RAM.

[Q] Memory?

Hi Everybody,
I have a question about the memory on the vibrant.
In the task manager, it says that I only have 304mb of total memory.
Why?
I've read some posts saying that the vibrant runs on 2.6.29 which does not support himem, therefore limiting the ram to only 304mb. But my vibrant is on 2.6.32, which is said to support himem, and still I only get 304mb. What is up with this?
Also at most I get 160mb of free memory, does anyone have more free memory? I know that android has great memory management, but I just want to check if I have the normal amount of free memory.
Thanks to all replies, bad or good ;-)
No one has more free RAM unless they have a loltaskkiller running in the background aggressively killing tasks.
The phone reserves 128 MB RAM for the GPU out of the 512. None of the Galaxy S phones have (or had) 512 App-Accessible RAM.
Verizon advertises the Fascinate as having 384 MB RAM which seems more accurate because phone reserves 128 for the graphics (512-128=384) and then reserves ~64 MB for the system (384-326 we see = 58).
It has 384 MB RAM, and 128 dedicated the GPU outside of the App RAM. Samsung just advertised it as 512 because they added them together and didn't make any distinction (which makes the advertisement legally legit) and they didn't feel like adding a bit more RAM to the device the way HTC typically does with their phones (extra 64MB in the HD2/HD7 and they put 768 in the MyTouch to compensate for pretty much everything).
HTH.
Oh, now it makes sense. So if 64mb is reserved to the system and I get 140mb of used memory with no apps running, does.that mean android uses about 200mb out of the available 384mb?

Android uses about 120-150 MB as a base, the rest are cached applications, which allows them to starts up faster next time you run them, but the cached RAM will be freed up if the current running application needs it. You can try disabling free services to reduce the amount Android uses, although it doesn't free up too much.
It makes me wonder does the GPU really need 128 MB of RAM?!
It probably doesn't need 128 MB. They probably could have done well by just giving it 96 and letting the rest of the 32 go for the System (Apps), and then adding another 64 MB to the system on top of that to give the user more time ot multi-task non-game applications.
Not to mention most games load a lot of data in RAM and the lack of Application RAM can/does bottleneck the phone in some of them - making the "incredible" GPU not much of an improvement over phones with more RAM in them and comparable CPU performance (and a faster file system, as well).

[Q] how much free ram do you usually have?

how much free ram do we need so that the phone doesnt lag?? let me know!
Free RAM is wasted RAM.
Definitely. It's an old discussion leading to troll generally. What is important it's the total amount of ram, to have a smooth multitasking, to avoid background apps to be killed to free ram.
That's why some scripts try to modify memory management to optimize it. But free ram by itself is not very important.

I usually have 500MB+ free RAM, but I have got a swap partition (2GB) and I've got barely any apps running, as I free my RAM a lot..
Usually around 300mb, if I keep multitasking in check
i know the term Free Ram is wasted ram but when i have less than 100 megs of ram my phone's performance sucks. when i free my ram up to 200+ megs of ram, my phone is a lot smoother.
sent.
200+MB.. i dunno what to do with the wasted RAM lol

Why do you think more free RAM improves anything?
Free ram = wasted ram.

Exactly the same question I was going to ask. Forget free RAM. Forget RAM management apps. Forget closing apps to free up more RAM. Linux memory management is already quite efficient. Your utilities are not going to improve it (either at all, or by any significant amount).
That's it. Free RAM is unused RAM. It's useless until it is used... Any device has inbuilt memory management that cares about the memory needs of running processes. If your device shows free RAM of 1GB all the time than your device has 1GB more RAM than it needs.
Why you want more free ram? You bought a phone with 3GBs of ram just to use half of it, why?
They think its windows, when you dont have free ram anymore it will lags or out of memory lol...

Why my total RAM Is 3.5ghz on 4gb RAM and avaible Is Always 20%?

I cant understend how the RAM Is management in this phone.
800mb RAM avaible (with no One app open)
3.5gb RAM Total
But the phone Is 4gb version.
I see that of i open pubg at max settings It Is smooth and the RAM still Is 800mb.
The problem Is that the phone in dailyuse its not really smooth and fast like it should be.
Do you advice me to change rom?
Im using stock MIUI 11
