I recently upgrade to the latest 4.1.83 and am using gingerblur 3.1
When I first got my phone I found that every time the phone re-booted it would forget custom alert/notification/ringtones. I fixed it once but I dont remember how and my internal memory was deleted by gingerbreak(not complaining, just explaining why its deleted).
It seems like the internal SD memory is not loading in time for the apps to find the sounds they need and so are listing them as unknown.
Is there somewhere else I can move them to (internal phone) where they will not be forgotten. It seems like before I was able to copy them in with the other ringtones.
I am still new at this and tried searching the forums but didnt find anything really helpful.

Heya,
Just making sure that its safe to do? I was planning on formatting the INTERNAL SD using android itself (un-mounting then formatting) then SBF flashing and starting fresh..
Just thought I'd ask someone smart before doing things just to make sure I'm not making an idiotic mistake.
Thanks,
- DarkRyoushii
I don't recall on which of the Atrix forums but it seems like the title of the thread was something to do with touch screen problems. If I recall correctly, the touch screen will not work correctly if the internal sd card is formatted. And I don't think a fix has been figured out.
Well it must have been with cwm recovery because I formatted with android and it worked out fine. Thanks for the warning though

Hey Dark just wondering if you had to sbf flash after formatting the internal memory, or does the phone work without any issues after formatting??
Hey I would assume it worked without issues however I formatted the internal storage while in android, remounted it without issues and had it working without issues but then turned the phone off and SBF flashed back to stock (as I was planning too originally and wanted to format the SD card to remove the app data before SBF flashing)
I assume it would have kept working without issues but would have deleted my app data such as save games, pictures, music and login info for apps like xda
Thanks. Ya no problems.
The touch screen problem was due to partitioning the internal sd... and unfortunately no one knows how to fix it. Im still screwed.
Hello, I have looked around the threads for possible solutions and have come up with none. I am currently using Telus Fascinate Galaxy S and currently running the stable CM7 with the Glitch kernel. I'm having troubles recieving text messages; it keeps telling me that there is full memory. The problem is that i have over 12GB of space on my sd card and it says 0.00B of space on the internal storage. I just flashed it and my internet works fine. Every other thread has found the solution in moving apps to the sd card but the difference with me is that I have no apps downloaded yet.. is there a known fix to this?
I had the same problem, did u flash the latest nightly by chance?? #181..
I don't know a fix persay, but if you free up some space in the /datadata, also found in /data/data, partition it will let your msgs come through.

Thanks for the reply, once a flashed the nightly 181 i got my text messages working again, however, any downloads i try to make still send the "free up some space and try again". i cleared all the cache's, moved everything i could to my sd card (which still has plenty of space) and i changed all my settings to install external and unchecked internal storage, if i try download anything from the internet or from the market, nothing works
I have now tried both MIUI and CM7 on my phone, both of them state that there is no internal memory (0.00B). Would there be a problem with the Glitch V13 kernal i'm using or is there a step in the flashing process i missed?
I'm running MIUI/glitch without the above issue. What was your install process?
I got most things working now, what modem are you running though?

Given I cannot post into the dev forum and following the instructions/reasons why(under 10 posts, post in Q&A forum etc) I am doing as stated.
First Thing:
This rom is fantastic, wanted to give props to the dev who created this.
Now one or two questions:
1.) I noticed when clicking on "about phone" the baseband version is showing as "unknown". Everything works though(calls, internet, wifi etc). Should I be concerned about this? I did the jump from Gingerbread after wiping delvik, cache, and data.
2.) I had to re-install this rom after my initial attempt as I thought I did something wrong, but I was getting the SDCard error(no SD card or cannot find SD Card) when in camera or using Root Explorer/ES Explorer. Turns out unlike GB and Touchwiz the \SDCard path isn't the main directory anymore, but the \emmc directory is. I take it this is due to the stock ICS implementation(AOSP/AOKP?).
3.) I do not have an SD card yet(just got the phone last week) but it was a little confusing having two (2) storages called "Internal Storage". My first mistake was clicking the checkbox in settings -> storage to use Internal Storage(which uses the 2GB partition reserved for the OS). I wiped and reloaded after that and moved my apps to the other "Internal Storage"(10+GB). Was it my doing that they are both called Internal Storage? Can I "change" that for label it myself in a better way?
Again, great rom, and I've been lurking for quite some time just a few things I needed to understand. Mods, I am truly sorry if this in anyway violates any rules(i hope i followed them correctly) and I did try searching but a wide array of different answers or part answers came up.
Answers:
1) You shouldn't be concerned at all.
2) The ROM is based off of the unofficial CM9 so its going to have bugs in it. And currently, that is a known bug. Rebooting the device usually does the trick tho.
3) not really sure what you're trying to ask here. sorry.
Hope this helped alleviate some of your doubts. Good luck and continue to read and learn!
Thanks for the response babymatteo!
For number 2, I actually did try rebooting, still got the errors, but have since fixed it(still using the \emmc directory).
Number 3, I guess I am asking if its normal for the storage partitions to be called the same thing?(I can't remember if it was under GingerBread or any other ICS rom i installed. Basically the Galaxy note came with 16gb(more like 12GB) of internal space, 2GB was reserved for system use and the remainder for apps/storage. Both are called Internal Storage and it kind of confused me when snooping around settings. Just want to know if I can rename a storage label/partition(if I should call it that)?
I have a weird and it seems like a common problem too, i have found some threads about it but either they are a little different from mine or they dont have a real solution for it.
So yesterday i decided to download a bunch of games, i never used enough applications to need to move them to my sd, but since i downloaded a lot of them some started to get installed to the sd and i manually moved some of them too to the sd card. But while i was still downloading more apps, some of them started to show the android icon, and when i tried to run them they crashed. The weird part is that it was just some of them.
After that i tried rebooting my phone hoping that would help the phone to reload and see the apps, but that just made it worst since those, and some others went totally missing from the drawer. Is not because the launcher loads before the sd card is read because i already checked that.
So i went to settings>applications and discovered that all those applications are listed there but listed with their other name (dont know how to call it, but is like "com.developer.app" ). All of the missing apps are like that and i cant run them.
- I have formatted the sd using gparted, same behavior
- I have formatted the sd and the internal (sd?) with the phone
- I have done a factory reset with no luck
- I have runned fsck in both internal and external sd's
- The files of the applications are in the .android_secure folder in the external sd card "app.asec"
- The sd card is working (files music, everything else is working)
- I dont know what else to do, I want to be able to use my sd card to install apps
Thanks for your help

I dont fully understand you, but i think you are telling me to install, then run the app and then move it to the sd card, i did that to almost all of them (i was trying the games ) but that didnt make any difference. Thank you anyway!
looks like it was a faulty micro sd card switched to another one and problem solved
Hi,
another forum recommended I register and ask my question here. I am not a techie. I don't know what I'm doing. This is probably a basic question, but with all the googling I've done, I can't find the answer!
Here goes, and please be easy on me:laugh:
My GS3 was running really slow, running down the battery, just in general not running as well as I remembered from a year before buying it. I decided to back it up, reset it and start from scratch. The phone has run AWESOME! One problem though; when it updated, it installed 4.3. Ever since, I can't do anything with my SD card. I get an error that the SD card is full, and if I look in the settings, it shows zero space on the SD card. If I plug it into my mac, it shows like 12gb of space.
I used to use Android File Transfer and that doesn't work anymore. I recently tried Airdroid, which works great for the internal storage, but tells me that my SD card is full.
Help!
PS I tried to post a link to a screenshot of what storage on my phone looks like, but since I'm a noob, I'm not allowed
When you upgrade to android 4.3 it will change your storage partition from sdcard0 to emulated/0 ... simply it will change its partition so all your old files will not be visible there but they are still in your memory... I suggest you find your old files and move them to new directory... There are many threads on how to find your old files.. Search
