[Q] Disable keyboard sound. - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok, I may be being an idiot, but how on earth do you disable the keypress sound in the default samsung keyboard?

Would love to know this too. Have looked all over and can't disable it in either the Samsung keyboard or Swype.

Is it not in settings sounds ??
jje

No. I've looked everywhere. Fortunately Swype does not make a sound for me.

Wow! I didn't realise you couldn't disable the noise.
I hated the Samsung keyboard. The auto correction was awful and the stock gingerbread keyboard was much better. I installed Smart Keyboard Pro that I loved on the Desire and it works a treat.

Is there an answer to this yet? Its completely pointless and anoying but i like the keyboard.

Yeah actually I was being stupid and testing the keyboard with Handycalc, which actually adds its own sound.
You can disable they keyboard sound by disabling 'Audible Touch Tones' in the sound settings. Unfortunately they keyboard is still pretty useless for me because you can't turn off the vibration without losing the vibration of the option/back keys.

Cheers, i kinda liked the dial pad tones but never mind.

Touch/Diamond Keyboard for Mogul that works well?

I was using the Diamond Keyboard for awhile and really loved it. But after awhile I noticed that the hardware keyboard was unresponsive (slow, resulting in lots of typos) with the Diamond keyboard installed.
So I tried the Touch keyboard and it kept popping up some autocomplete box while I was trying to use the hardware keyboard. I couldn't get my hardware keyboard to work at all with that one running.
Does anyone have a recommendation of a Touch/Diamond-style keyboard that works well on the Mogul? I tried PocketCM for awhile but found that the keys were still too small for me.

Have you tried SPB Full Screen Keyboard?
Yes, it was my least favorite. If only the Diamond keyboard didn't mess up the hardware keyboard it would be perfect.

You can still use the Touch Keyboard just remove auto complete from the Input -- Word Completion settings on your phone.
This explains why my keyboard went south...Any fixes...besides hard reset?

ditto! my keyboard has been totally screwed lately. i have been using the Diamond ITE EzInput keyboard that comes with Titan Reloaded 1.3.4 for almost 3 months and I have noticed my actual hardware keyboard just seemed to totally crap out. Letters would be completely missed while typing, or they would come up 2-3 times. this might explain everything. i really love that on screen keyboard but it makes the hardware one unbearable. it's time to re-flash without that keyboard and see if it helps!
i have also noticed a major memory leak that i haven't been able to track down. maybe it's related.

I have not tried this out yet but you might want to try.
CAB version on that link.
An oem is in ppckitchen oem downloads for the kitchen.
edit: works nice
My hardware keyboard is back to normal since flashing to a light rom. I never would have thought that software could have caused those problems!
Thanks for the link to finger keyboard. Looks nice, I'll give it a try.

Vibration intensity, haptic feedback inconsistent

I'm having trouble with the vibration intensity on my SGS2...it is very inconsistent...when I set it to where I want it, after awhile I'll notice that I can't feel any haptic feedback either on the keyboard or the buttons. I'll go back in to the settings and they'd be the same, but I'd increase and I could feel it again, but then after awhile the intensity will be way too high and I'll have to go back and set it where I had it previously.
This seems like it might be a hardware issue as it did it with the stock rom as well as UnNamed. Any other ideas?
I have always left mine at the default level, and haven't has issues on stock or UnNamed or S8. Do you only have this problem after changing the default setting? Does it happen if you don't change the intensity from default?

I never messed with it until I noticed I couldn't feel it anymore...I wonder if it could be the A.I. Type keyboard I'm using, it has its own haptic intensity settings too, I suppose it could be interfering with the global setting...the problem is that it just seems to change on its own...
I had a problem using the gingerbread keyboard from the market, having issues with vibration, but only within the keyboard. The problem never effected my global settings. Try a different keyboard and see if the problem persists. I like the stock keyboard or swiftkey. I have heard you can get it free from getjar.com.

I disabled the AI Type and enabled the stock Samsung keyboard and it's the same. I can go into settings/sound/vibration intensity and move the slider up and down and I can feel the different intensities just fine, very strong on the high end of the scale...but as of right now, whatever I select it makes no difference to the actual intensity I get from the buttons, it never changes...wierd.

Better keyboard 8 sound

How on earth do I make it stop the God aweful clicking and vibrating???
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk
long press the settings key next to the microphone key on the keyboard and change to android keyboard then you can change the preferences
only if you dont mind the android keyboard
I figured it out, it was hidden deep in the settings. I hate andriods keyboards, they are all too slow. Even with this monster I type fast and I need something to keep up and Better can do that just fine.
can you let me know how you did it ? I would love to turn off the sound !!

[Q] [PAC][4.1.2][JB]19.3.0 unofficial build from source[BUILD 6]: keyboard sound pbm

Hi,
I am using this image: [ROM][PAC][4.1.2][JB]19.3.0 unofficial build from source[BUILD 6]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2307703
And I am really happy with it, there is just one minor bug but that really annoy me is that even if in the configuration I have disabled the keyboard sound when I wrote a SMS I still have the keyboard sound, this is really annoying.
Did some body have a solution to have a really true silent keyboard? I hate hearing sounds when using the keyboard.
My small tip, if somebody tries this image: after the boot the image the backlight doesn't work, I need to disable and reenable the backlight to have it working again. Good to know because configuring the phone without any backlight is not really easy.
Thanks,
Pr2

Keyboard sound issue

Hi,
So I have noticed one bug on my Poco F1. When I turn on sound on keyboard typing, the sound gets disabled after sometime (especially after each reboot). In order to make it work again, I need to turn off the option and on again. I noticed it on Gboard and AOSP keyboard (on custom ROMs) as well.
Right now I'm on miui Global 8.12.20, and I face the same issue every now and then.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue or why the heck keyboard even stop producing sound?
I know a lot of people don't use the sound on keyboard, but I like it a lot.
+1 same here! Help
