Tablet goes to sleep after literally 5 seconds of inactivity... - G Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have tnt 4.4 and things were going great until recently I attempted to add the wiimote controller using the revert to older settings menu to change keyboard options. The honeycomb boot menu kept loading and my tablet never turned on again. So I installed 4.4 again and even got titanium pro because I grew tired of installing apps 1 by 1. Now I have this issue which is by far the most frustrating problem I've had with this tablet. No matter what I have open, the screen shuts off after 5-6 seconds. I have to tap the power button to wake it. The last time this happened to me, I installed 4.4 again and things were fine for almost a month till that reverting of menus thing.
Is there anything I can do to get out of this sleep bug every 5-6 seconds of inactivity? I could understand 5-6 mins but seconds is ridiculous (yeah, that's what she said ) Please help thanks in advance, I love this forum and the community.

A shot in the dark...
Check Settings->Display->Screen Timeout value, and check if modifying it changes anything.

A Second First Start?

I like so many other have recently received my gTablet. I have done nothing so far except to charge it and start it to become acquinted with the interface.
When I powered on this morning the system seemed to hang at the gTablet logo. After about 1 minute I pressed the power on button to power off. The next time I restarted I had to go through the whole startup sequence again.
The only thing I noticed that changed is the background. Before it was leaves falling on water, now I have a ocean view.
Has anyone else experienced something similar?
Thanks
Yes, this happened to me too. I updated it, and after two or three startup/shutdowns I got the setup wizard. I did not get this when I started it up the first time.
I then found that I needed to re-install flash. The wallpaper can be changed back by long pressing the screen and selecting Wallpapers -> Live Wallpapers.

Sleep of death partial solution?

So it seems that no matter what i do regardless of rom, kernel, bootloader version if I press the power button while my gtablet is awake, it will just shut off- maybe twice now it has successfully unlocked for me and came back to life.
The other night i did a test, with 100% battery set the brightness to its lowest setting using the power manger widget (this seems to be 30 out of 255 btw)
Idling while I slept (screen on, sitting at the home screen) it ran 10 hours and still had 16% left.
Obviously the screen still remains as the key battery drainer, so my question is- is there a way to turn the screen off but keep the cpu running? Perhaps even just kill the back light completely- and upon volume button press or maybe a certain swipe gesture on the screen, the back light could be re enabled.
Ive tried a few apps, none of which have functionality quite like this- I was wondering about perhaps a script we could run via terminal (that maybe could be tied to a shortcut on the homescreen..?)
Thanks!
the sleep of death is my #1 gripe with the deivce.
what i am more interested in is why this happens. I would imagine this doesnt happen in stock form, so it must be an issue with rooting it.
Nope
No it happend in its stock form too... even with the 1.0 fw that i started with...
Went for the update to 1.1 bl and 1.2 bl
I really haven't been able to determine the issue and ive tried every rom between 1.1 and 1.2 ... (at least all the obvious ones on the forums here...)
Not sure what to do other than suck it up and just find something that can kill the screen.

[Q] NT not waking up from sleep without a reboot.

I've had this problem with both a rooted tablet with an extra launcher ontop of the B&N one, and now that I've put CM7 Final on it. Basically, it'll go to sleep after not being used for a few minutes, and then when I try to get it back on, it won't come back. The N button, or the power button, neither works, and I have to hard reboot it (hold the power button a while) to get back into it.
It doesn't happen every time, there doesn't even seem to be any rhyme or reason towards why it happens. Sometimes it'll just be sitting on the desktop when it happens, other times I'll have had a book open when it happens. Other times, it will come right back as soon as I push a button.
It's getting really frustrating, honestly. Is there any way to prevent this?
There's been some discussion of this (SOD = Sleep of Death) in the CM7 threads. You should look there for more info. I think searching for "wakelock" will find you what you need... I think that's what it's called. It's an interim fix.
I have been seeing this same thing. I originally thought it was something I loaded so completely unrooted it and let it run for a bit and rerooted it to find it is now doing it again. will look into what CRE mentioned
Only real thing I can find doing a lot of searching and reading is this ...

Wake Lock app
Yeah, im having the same problem! It happens for me everytime. Im going to install that Wake Lock App tonight, see if it helps... my only concern is that will it drain battery life?
cheers steve
Weird as hell. Mine has not done this for a few days now. I do notice it happens when my WiFi is acting up.
last time it happened to me I had it sitting on the charger while I slept and I had left the wifi enabled.
I wonder if this is something to to do with the wifi sleep policy. I know on my android phone there is an advanced settings to access this.
any more issues with this? I have since been making sure to keep my wifi off when not in use, but I did have this happen once again when the battery was below 30% and sitting idle for a while.
I've had a similar issue where I need to hit the power button two or three times to get it to boot up on my CM7 Final internal build and I can't change the "go to sleep" settiing.

apart from finding that Wake Lock app... Has anyone found a more permanent fix for the SOD issue?
I tried this and it seems to have worked as I haven't had the problem since I made this change.
Go to: Settings>Wireless & networks>Wi-Fi Settings. When you are in the Wi-Fi Settings screen, touch the Menu button in the status bar. It will bring up a dialog box. Select "Advanced" and on the Advanced screen touch Wi-Fi Sleep policy. That will pop up another dialog box and you select the "Never" radio button.

Phone fails to wake up when it's off

Hi, as the status says, the phone fails to wake up when it's in deep sleep. This occurs randomly but at least once a day. I sometimes have to press the home button tens of times to wake up the phone and even then it only sometimes does. What's also strange is that whenever a call comes, it takes about 5 to 7 seconds for the screen to light up.
Configuration
Liquidsmooth Latest version
Boeffla Kernel (No UV or OV)
No tweaks of any kind besides using Greenify
Hoping to hear from the people who can help ASAP
Thank you in advance
Go back to stock and test, if the problem vanishes then flash one change at a time and test after each.

[Q] Lg g2 issues. Keyboard wont always type, Screen doesnt alsways turn on.

I've been having these 2 issues for a while now and I have a feeling they may be connected.
Both issues happened with stock and with paranoid android. I thought that Greenify was the culprit because they seemed to go away for awhile after I uninstalled it but both issues returned at about the same time.
Basic Info:
LG G2 VS980
paranoid android 4.4
rooted
xposed
Issue 1: Screen
My screen will sometimes not turn on. Neither the power button or knock on will work. It seems completely random when it will and wont turn on. The notification light will shine if I have a notification but the screen itself wont turn on. I can usually turn it on again if I wait a few or minutes or if I restart the device by holding down the power button.
Issue 2: Keyboard
I will open an app (hoverchat, chrome, snapchat, ect) and they keys will respond to my touch and the spell checker will show what I'm typing but nothing will show up in the text box. If I type nonsense eventually some of it will show up and I can continue typing. Clearing the data and cache of the keyboard didnt help. Usually I have to quit and reopen the app a few times in order to be able to type.
This happens with every keyboard I have tried. I am currently using Android L Keyboard (I think it got removed from play).
Both of these issues are incredibly frustrating and I would love any help anyone can offer. Thanks guys!
