has any one else noticed the drop of signal on this phone? it works fine at home but as soon as I enter my college class room, the service can't be found, this is really annoying, I don't receive my texts till I exit the room and even then, every text I send seems to take ages to actually be delivered to the recipients phone. any one know of any fix for this?
running 2.1 official with pitch black theme. Xrecovery installed.
Did it start to happen after you installed the black theme?

no, its always happened. is this a problem all X10's have? as soon as I leave the room/college, it gains its reception again :|
I dont have that issue at all. Have you tried flashtool to try to fix the issue, or seus from sony? It could be a glitch in the phone. Have you used flashtool before? I can help you with that.

I have att x10a with 1.6 and I was constantly dropping calls worse than the iphone.. Called up ATT and they said swap the sim.. Did that and still nothing so they replaced the phone and so far no issues..
I've swapped sims, it didn't help, what would the flash tool do?
It's a hardware issue.
Not much you can do.

Its definitely a hardware issue, at least mine was.. If you’re under warranty get it replaced either via your carrier or SE
if I flash another baseband would that fix it? this phone works perfectly at home and other places, just as soon as I enter college, it loses reception. would another baseband be worth my time trying out?

No.. i have a similar issue.
and there is nothing you can do.
I wrote a petition to my service provider about this.
And the fixed a problem with the tower. "only cuz i know they take budget cuts"
The gsm modem is full of ****.
I don't know if it's a software or hardware issue.
But so far there is no fix for it.
As I posted above I had this very same issue.. ATT says couple of their towers are still down in my area and could be an issue.. It isn't.. The replacement phone I got last Friday has been very good… So clearly it was an equipment problem.. Are you still within the 1 year warranty? If you’re get it replaced ..

I've been having this problem for some time but wasn't entirely sure whether it was my network (O2-UK) or the phone. Basically at random intervals my phone will lose signal, I didn't realise quite how often until I installed No Signal Alert and today for example I've lost signal 5 times, not for any more than 30 seconds each time.
The reason that I think this is a problem with the phone is because I've noticed that if I'm connected to wi-fi that also cuts out at the same time.
Is this something anybody else has come across? It's a non-rooted X10 on R2BA026.
Have been having exactly the same problem for the last few weeks. o2 have had the phone back for repair twice, the 2nd time it was exchanged for a new handset but still seems to be occurring. My brother also has the same phone, network and problem.
Strange that all the problems are occuring on the same network. I originally rooted my phone and upgraded to the newer build, don't know if you're on the normal O2 software?
Would be interesting to know if anybody has had the same problem on a different network.
Same Problem
Hey,
im in Australia, with Optus On SE X10i
and ive had the same issue whether rooted or not, but only since upgrading to 26 software, didnt have this issue on 16, also when i sued to use Advance Task Killer, if i opened the program and killed all apps, then 2of 3 times my signal would go down to NO SERVICE for about 30 seconds and then come back full force.
To me it seems like a potentual software issue that specific to 26 software
I've noticed that when I use a task killer to close the sony ericsson backup app that causes me to lose all signal (network and wi-fi) straight away, but I still lose signal randomly even with that closed. I never noticed it happen before I upgraded to this software either, so you could be onto something there.
How do we go back to previous versions?

Using omnius, luckily just before it turned to pay to flash licensing.

Well I've just flashed it using the X10 flash/unbrick tool and went incredibly smoothly, now back running 016 and reinstalling all my apps using trusty astro. I'll make sure I keep the no-signal app running and let you know whether this has fixed the problem.
First time asking for help but I can't find the answer to my problem. I have no service on my X10, no calls, text, data. No service at all, just grey bars with a BIG X. I don't know how to tell if it's a hardware or software issue. I don't think software is the problem. I put my phone in airplane mode one night and the next morning turned back to normal mode. I noticed later I had no service. I had been running the Wolf 4.0.0 for about a month when this happened, with no problems at all. I have flashed back to 2.1 and then 2.3, no change. Searched and entered APN's for ATT. I did find some posts about "CRASHING SYSTEM SERVER" but I don't think it applies to this software. Am I missing something? I sure don't want to pay Sony $185.00 just to re-flash my X10 with a quick fix.
Any Ideas???
My setup is:
Wolf_Xperia_4.0.0
2.6.29-00054-g5101537
[email protected]SEMCHost#1
2.1.71
Thanks

I have same xperia x10i with baseband .71
it had same problem few months back and it was working fine
changing sim caused the problem again
now it wont get any signal with any working sim
Is that problem hardware related or software related
FYI i have tried stock 2.3.3 cm7mod and team rom 3.8/3.9 but no service...
Help plz
Regards,
I don't know what the problem was with my phone. It started working one day and has been fine ever since. I do know that I was using the phone in a weak signal area, 1-2 bars max, before it stopped working and when it started working again I was in a full bar area. A software glitch or antenna problem, not sure. I have 2 of these phones and side by side the network radios have completely different signal profiles. The phone I was having trouble with still gets half the signal the other one gets.
Thanks
Hello everyone, I am having a problem with my new Xperia P. I first got the phone on ICS. 54 FW and for some reason the option to select Network Mode (switch to GSM only, WCDMA only, etc.) was greyed out. I noticed that in an area with conflicting GSM/3G signal my phone lost signal for extended periods. I though by flashing a new ROM (Vision V4) that the issue would be solved. I flashed and am now able to access the Network Mode selection. It was on WCDMA preferred/GSM and I clicked GSM only, the phone immediately rejected this and went t\back to the state that it had been in. This is basically making my phones network features useless and I suspect the battery life is suffering as well. I flashed stock .75 ICS and even back to .54 ICS and the same issue occurs no matter what I flash. I went into the "hidden menu" accessed via button combination in the dialer and tried manually selecting GSM only from the list of preferred networks and the same issues occurs, no matter what option I choose, the phone immediately changes back to WCDMA preferred/GSM. This would not be as big an issue as it is if I lived somewhere else with better signal, but my home and work environment are both like this so it is a major issue.
I urgently need help in this matter, I have read about similar issues but either the thread has no replies or the suggestions do not work. I had read about some Sony forum members asking if I the persons had cut their micro SIM. I have, so I ordered a new micro SIM ready to be activated and it's on its way. These suggestions about the micro SIM were also answered with replies stating that they changed out the SIM and the error still occurs and I suppose it will more that likely persist in my situation.
If anyone could, I really need some help. Thank you for reading.

Hey mate,
Im not sure but I think you have a wrong baseband which might be causing the issue. (not sure cause i remember hearing somewhere that P covers all bandwidth etc )
If that might be the case, you need an FTF for your specific model to flash its baseband
Again, not sure so try this only if you dont get any replies soon

Yeah, I think it may be something with my baseband. Every now and then I get an "R" above the signal display meaning I am technically roaming but this is very random. I don't really see any flashable basebands for the Xperia P though. I will do more research though and thank you for the suggestion. :good:
Well, couldn't find anything so I just sent it back to the seller for a replacement. Mine had a bad pixel on the screen anyway. Here's to getting one that works in about 2 weeks..
I too have the same issue but my problem is that my device freezes the touchscreen on 2g network. On every Rom that I have tried.. I am still waiting for a fix..
Tried to change the SIM and network still the same..

Yes, that is very weird.. Are you still able to switch network modes? I'm on AT&T so the network compatibility should be fine, I'm just guessing we have defective units.. I emailed Sonymobile about the issues and got a response telling me that some carriers have a lock on their networks. This isn't true though because I have plenty of phones (Android and other) that had worked with 2G/3G with the option to select and it worked fine. I do this to all the Android phones I have ever owned. Hoping the JB update addresses the many issues we are all having with the many ICS iterations. I wanted to stop using Japanese smartphones (currently having to use F-10D until I get a good replacement) because of the hassle with use between countries and there being no development existent. I thought I could get a headache free experience from a less strict supplier but it seems I just can't have a good experience.
Like I said, I sent in for a replacement and should be getting one soonish, I don't know what I'll do if the same problem occurs except just wait for JB and see what it holds.
Can anyone with this phone on AT&T confirm that my phone was defective and not just (supposedly) carrier related?
I bought it from Saudi Arabia, only 3g works but freezes in 2g after some usage.. I am from India. I think unlocking SIM LOCK of my phone might fix the issue..

Hello!
I have a T-mobile Optimus L9 P769BK. I was on software revision G and I rooted it. Regardless, the problem started before I rooted it. My cell signal cuts out completely, the only way I can get it to come back is by rebooting the phone. Does anyone know where (and if) the android OS stores error logs? Also, is anyone else experiencing it?
I hope it's the SIM card and not the phone... We'll see.

That's not my problem. Intermittently, I get no bars, and an 'x' in the corner.
Still struggling
Logcat is great, but nothing is coming up as to why my cell reception cuts out.
It sounds like a bad sim. T-Mobile stores will give you a free one if you tell then that Tech Support told you to get one from the nearest store. Which is exactly what Tech Support will tell you. This way you save time not making the un-necessary call.

Something similar, had it in airplane mode, switched it off while at the gate and made 2 calls successfully. Notice in customs that I don't have a signal and figure maybe because they have jammers there for some reason. Get to airport doors and still no signal, had to call my hotel shuttle on my other phone. I rebooted the phone while on the shuttle and got proper signal again.

It's not the SIM card. I got a replacement from T-Mobile, still having the problem. Tried the replacement in an old phone and I don't see the problem.
I just got the phone back from LG. Let said it was a "Language Error" and they "Installed new software". I'm still seeing the problem.

This sucks that you are still having the same issue after 4 months. Try flashing one of the Jelly Bean KDZ files for the P769:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2107971
If that does not work I am not sure what else to try. It could be a network issue or the phone still has a hardware problem which would require LG to fix.

If you want help you must provide relevant info - and also be able to think a little for yourself!
Have you done anything special to the phone before that? Like programming a ROM in Odin?
Is the IMEI in place?
im new to the s3 and dont have a clue about what anything is. ive never done anything to it.....

Hi I think this may be an issue in some parts of the world, but not all. I have regular signal cuts like this in South Africa, but generally only when I'm in an area with weak cell signal. My wife also has a S3 LTE and gets the same signal cuts. When it happens I reboot my phone and it's fine again. I even went back to stock to test and it still happens on stock, just as it did when I first got the phone in November 2012.
I've been on AOSP roms the last few months and then it was fine, no signal cuts. Same with my wife's phone. Now I'm back on stock and the signal cuts are back, albeit not so often anymore, maybe one or two a week. I'm going to run stock for a few weeks and see if the issue persists.
What modem are you using? Have you changed it or is it the same modem that came with your phone?

a MODEM IS A MODULATOR DEMODULATOR . basically the bit that connects to the network .
Modem = Baseband .
\Suggest one factory reset two if that fails service centre and three read the basic faqs and guides .
