I'm rooted, how do I undervolt? Is there an app available?

SEARCH XDA AND GOOGLE. There are prolly a dozen threads on CPU clocking for your phone. (I'm assuming you mean underclocking, right?)

download a oc/uv kernel then install voltage control from the marker, I suggest eugenes dead horse kernel but that's just me.
btw Q&A

Underclock is NOT undervolt
and to the OP, please post in the right section

You can start by posting in the correct forum. Q&A... General...
Yeah, that would be a good start.
Yes post in Q & A next time please.
There are many apps on the market that will do this. Under-volting is just lowering the voltage to the cpu. The voltage standard setting is set based on the voltage that will work best for all manufactured cpus in a unit. Most of these chips are "low-bid" so the Q/C is not that accurate, so they set the voltage a little higher to make sure they always perform. Most of the tech savvy people know they can lower that setting....... and do so to lower temp and add to battery life.
Underclocking is something else entirely That is the cycle clock speed......... 2 different animals.
tigersblood will compatible with voltage control app

I downloaded nemisis's kernel 1200 OC and -50UV. it says the kernel is already overclocked. Does that mean i dont have to use setcpu? I never used any of these overclocked or undervolted kernels before. What instances do i need setcpu for?
You need to use setcpu. Its also useful for when u want to use different kernel governers or profiles under certain conditions.

ok so then the enderst special oc 1200 mhz uv by -50mv kernel is basically useless unless i use that app then (minus the UV)? also what are the chances im gunna fry my processor if i keep this overclock kernel for everyday use?
Edit: also how hot is too hot for a battery to get? aka whats a normal range? also after heavy use (like after playing angry birds or tank hero)?
The battery in our phone (cobalt li-on) should never go above 130c. At above 150c you going to get thermal runaway and have a dead or exploded battery.
For a good article on lithium batteries see: www.buchmann.ca/article28-page1.asp

The profiles are NOT compatible with Galaxy S phones, at least the Fascinate. Some may work for some people alright, but most people experience many different problems, I myself have problems with the profiles. I recommend against using them. Just use it for the governor/overclock.

That's the new Glitch 14 live oc guide. If you are not using NSTools you aren't using half of what this kernel is capable of. Trust me read that and enjoy awesomeness.

There's no overclocking or voltage adjustments available with the stock kernel. You can change governor and I/O scheduler but that's it for now.

Agreed....also set cpu wont allow you to change I/O which is why I said voltage control

What is the purpose of I/O? Right now I'm using setcpu with governor set to on demand and a special profile set so when my screen goes off the CPU turns down. My battery life still totally sucks lol

Ah yeah, I haven't used setCPU since I had my incredible, but with those kernels you couldn't change things like I/O scheduler so I didn't know if you could with the right kernel. I definitely prefer voltage control and it seems to just work best with galaxy S phones. There's also Pimp My CPU but I haven't tried it yet.
You can read about I/O schedulers, but usually the default setting is best. You're possibly not really saving battery with a screen off profile that throttles your CPU. I've seen it postulated that with the phone being able to scale up the CPU when the screen is off, it can accomplish whatever it needs to faster, and therefore get to deep sleep faster (where your phone is consuming the least power). Not really sure if it's true, but it sounds plausible. Also, I've seen that glitch V14 has a deep idle feature, which I think in theory at least, is supposed to be even more efficient than deep sleep. I don't know much about it though or how well it's working on the fascinate.
So far, my battery life seems to have taken a bit of a hit with ICS too, but I'd like to put it through a few more charge cycles before making too much of a judgement.
I want to mess around with overclocking and voltage control for extended battery life on an already amazing phone. I rooted thats it. I tryed my Droid overclock which doesn't support my kernal so i'm wondering if there is a cpu overclock app that will allow me to tweak the voltages and overclock on the stock kernal.

Though I wish this wasn't true, but I don't think that our phone can undervolt overvolt on the stock kernel.

This allows undervolting and overvolting? Or just overclocks the processor?

Overclock, Eternity Hotplug (Governor) & vr scheduler by Eternity. Just a little play around.
On Rootzwiki you can find the boostedass 2 Governor.
He asked for Overclocking in OP, so I just posted some Tweaks I've already played with. I liked the Eternity Hotplug.
I want to know what's the safe overclocking maximum and governor . I also want to know what's the maximum safe temperature? Is 50c' as a maximum safe? Thanks for your help.

theres no such tthing as safe oc.
each and every cpu had different characteristic thus different capability when it comes to oc. what might works with others might just hardbrick yours. you just need to experiment yourself. do note thats its dangerous. earlier one guy already fried his phone when oc to 1.8ghz+playing gta3.
and for me personally 45c feels too hot already.

I know what you mean. You are right of course. Mine is overclocked to 1.3ghz governor smartassV2 and the max temp for overclocking is my problem now. I can't decide what is the max temp at which the phone should go back to 1ghz . Do you think 45c' as a maximum safe?

then use any app that can create profile to automatically lower cpu freq based on temperature eg cputuner or setcpu.

I'd say 45° MAX. Or even less. And still you can't be 100% sure you won't have any problem.

I have SiyahKernel S3 v1.8.9 installed in my S3.
I have now installed " EvenMoreBatteryTweaksGovernor.zip " which is provided by gokhanmoral itself.
Now if i undervolt my phone to -25mV or -50mV will it affect my hardware ? as in my processor(all 4 cores)..will they have any negative effect ?

thanks for ur reply
I read about this guide and after reading this guide i am ready to undervolt but the main thing comes that i already have installed siyah kernel battery saving tweak. so i have a concern that now, if i undervolt my device, will that affect my hardware as in processors ?
i am new to xda else would have posted direct here

I'm not sure what you mean by affect your processor. If you mean performance, no uv doesn't affect your performance unless you set it too low then it gets unstable and goes into bootloop. So you'll wish to tread carefully when going into over -75mv.
As for long-term damage on the phone, I heard many people say differently. Might wanna search and see for yourself. Personally don't really think it'd damage the hardware if you uv a little.

yes, with 'affect on processor' i meant that after a time period will it affect my hardware or not. my processor will be in good condition or not.
btw thanks for ur reply. i will search more for the after affects of undervolting a phone.
