Help with Pocket Informant for Windows Mobile - Windows Mobile Apps and Games

Hi all here, correct me if I am wrong here, but is it true that Pocket Informant for Windows Mobile/PPC or any form of Pocket Informant for the Microsoft Platform is free now.
I have downloaded the Touch Screen version for my Samsung i780 WM phone and I would like to know how can I obtain the full working 100% version of this software.
Thanks

It's freeware. Search the forums of Webis (manufacturer of Pocket Informant). They have posted generally valid license keys for PI and all their other WM stuff.

PI is now freeware, it means that the latest commercial version is no longer paying...
You can find the generic key to enter and the latest version to download here :

Hope this helps...

Quest
Can someone tell me how you actually use
superwaba on your XDA?
I have successfully installed the version 3.5
but how do I run an application associated
with superwaba? Sorry I sounds dumb. I
just got my O2xda and am trying to download
a java vm so that I can go into the website that
uses java etc. I know emertec Joede got a java
vm for pocket pc2002 which do not have trial and
I am not sure if I would get refund if their java vm
do not fit into the website that I am trying to go into.
Appreciate your help. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I think you should read SuperWaba.pdf in the doc-directory of the SupreWaba installation on your desktop-PC.

I still find it hard to understand and use superwaba on
my o2 xda.(I am new in java etc...)
Anyway I got a Joede VM on my O2 xda now,
thanks to your forum and the sharing of problems
and fixes etc.
And nowadays you can even get Sun Java FX on Windows Mobile
http://www.sun.com/software/javafx/mobile/index.jsp
JavaFX isn't exactly Java (use JVM only) and it needs 64 MB of RAM
JavaFX is indeed different from the "Java" we know before but it's something built above the original Java that *enhances* the old Java platform.
On Windows Mobile, the link NoonSki provided can lead you to a cab file that you can try on you WM phones with J2ME + JavaFX Mobile.
I tried and it works pretty well on my Touch Pro 2 running OperaMini, Snaptu...
Have a try
PhoneMe
Well, for Windows Mobile 2003 PhoneMe worked great for me. I cannot post links but you can google it (use "phoneme davy" in Google).
Fully open source and free implementation of JavaME (misses 3D, though). A bit difficult to install, but works for normal apps. Should also work on Pocket PC 2002 and WinMo 5+.

Anyone using Epocrates on XDA/QTEK/MDA?

Anyone with experience using Epocrates drug database on XDA? Their web site ( www.epocrates.com ) lists PPC2000, 2002 and 2003 as compatible but the XDA or HTC is not listed in the hardware list.
Are you only using the Dashboard picture as a background on the Today screen? If you are just make your own them out of it http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/resources/downloads/smartphone/themegenerator.mspx Here's and easy theme maker just follow the instructions ....
I don't know how that /\ posted here that was supposed to be a reply on Decebel's theme post ... sorry guys ....
Faisal, if it works with the ones listed I would be confident that it will also work with xda.
crusin-thru
Thanks. Does the processor matter? Their web site lists ARM. Does it mean that it would work with the xscale processor as well? I am assuming that xscale being a latter version would work.
I have installed programs for arm processer such as tomtom to axim which is xscale and it works fine.

Thanks.
Epocrates and the i-mate?
This is in continuation of my earlier post in this topic. The autoupdate feature of Epocrates Pro for Pocket PC freezes up in my PC and the drug databases are not installed.
Using imate/xdaII running "Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phone edition Version 4.20.1081 (build 13100)". Active Sync version 3.7 to connect to PC running Windows Me.
Have written to Epocrates - let us see what they say..
any ideas?
Thanks..

Bad news: there is no way to 'convert programs' from Win98 (or any other versions of desktop Windows to Pocket PC. Most Pocket PC devices have an ARM processor, the desktop machines have Pentiums. If it's Open Source, or if you are/know the developer, you will have the "source code" to the programme, you may be able to (usually after quite some work) "compile" the program to run on Pocket PC. But my guess is this doesn't apply to you, so I'm afraid to say you're out of luck.
The makers of this programme don't offer a Pocket PC version? Otherwise, you could try to use MS Terminal Services or VNC to "Remote Control" your PC at home. Note that this is almost never an ideal solution, but I though I'd mention it.

When did O2 release the bluetooth upgrade, where can i get it from please.
Peter's right. And even if you did have the source code, you cannot simply compile it for the Pocket PC. Windows 98 supports many features that are not supported by the Pocket PC because of the Pocket PC's limited memory, screen size and processing power. You would have to modify the program's user interface so that it would be usable in the Pocket PC's 240x320 screen. And you would have to hunt down each unsupported API (Application Programming Interface) function call and reimplement each one using only supported API function calls. That may not even be possible. Plus, you would have to hunt down all routines that allocate memory and make sure that they don't allocate more memory than a typical Pocket PC can provide.
but one does come along way with the sourcecode
because if it's using MFC which many older programs written in
visual c++ is likely to do then with some changes of the dialogs
it could be run on a pocketpc which also support most of MFC

Office Mobile Suite

Is there a 3rd-party SW that can replace Office Mobile for non-touchscreen smartphones?
I am looking for a program that would fulfill at least the minimal requirements (such as basic editing, or for Excel, basic calculation) but still be compatible to MS Office on the desktop
Thanks in advance!

Definitely Documents To Go from Dataviz. http://www.dataviz.com/products/documentstogo/winmobile/index.html
Thanks for the prompt resonse !
Have DL the trial version but can't get it to work on the S740 (except for Excel which passes). Apparently, they support the S710 only
Anything else?
I tried on S740 and it worked well.. but the weird thing is i cant seem to install it on the storage card.
That's interesting; how did you do it? Above all, how do you handle the split screen in keyboard mode?
Which version did you use?
The version i used was 3.0010.
What do you mean by splitscreen in keyboard mode ?
When I go to keyboard mode, I get a screen that is split in two

May be there is a difference because my phone is the German language version

With Office Mobile (Word, Excel), you can create new docs, edit...
On pc, create empty word document, copy it to device and open with Word Mobile. Then right soft-key and chose EDIT... If you are done, right soft-key, File-Save As... Write name of doc and save. Thats all.
I know all that, korenisko; and that's not the issue.
The problem is that the functionality of Office Mobile for non-touchscreens is laughable; the most rudimentary functions, such as cut & paste are not possible.
If you want to use the device in its full potential, a replacement of Office Mobile is called for

[HTC HD2][IPAQ R4100] Unable to install apps - Not sure where to get apps/games?

Hello all,
I have recently purchased a few HP Ipaq PDAs, I believe one is an R4000 and the other R4100 (Or H4000, can't recall) anyway they're running Windows Mobile 2003. I have also purchased a HTC HD2 running Windows Mobile 6.5.
I have got hold of loads of Pocket PC games but only maybe 1 in 20 will run on either of these devices. Normally I get an error of "Not a valid Pocket PC Application" or similar. I found an FTP site with various games/apps for download specifically listed as either "Pocket PC" or "WM2003" but again, only a small selection seem to work.
Am I missing something? Is there a better source I should go to (I appreciate none shall be named here but if someone could hint). I would have thought looking for WM2003 apps would be the ones I need for the IPAQs and Pocket PC apps should work on either but at least one of the devices.
Any help would be appreciated
