Hi folks... I hope this isn't just another "battery problem" thread... but I really do have a problem with my phone's battery (or should I say, batteries, since I got three different batteries and none of 'em seem to last long enough).
I'm running on the oficial FroYo-update rom - so I never installed any custom roms.
After the update the stock battery started dying real quick - not even a full day... and I can't charge the battery to 100%!!! :-/ I haven't seen that green light in ages... So I thought maybe it was a battery problem - bought a new battery 1500mAh from palmexx for about $20. However, the same problem with this battery too - drains quick and never-ever charges up to 100% .
I thought maybe it was a cheap rip-off battery, so I bought the much loved Mugen Power Battery 1800mAh. Followed the instructions - charged the phone while it was on for 12 hours. But even after 12 hours of charging the indicator said only 67% (I turned the phone on and off, then the indicator says 82%) - so left it charging for a couple of more hours (total charge 16,5 hours). The indicator still says 82%... and the battery started draining quickly again, it's down to 64% now, and I haven't used it much at all :-/
Is there any solution for this problem? The phone is just 10 months old.
same here
one of my colleagues have got the same problem with his HTC Legend. He sent it back to the reseller, they changed the ROM but nothing!
It charges up to 85% and never show green indicator until restart. I searched the XDA, lots of have-same-problem folks, no real solution though!
Is this problem (battery driver or ...) will be solved by custom roms?
Any help?
I think ur only choice is to try different Roms, im using cyanogen7 though but ive never experienced any battery problems.
Another thing you might try is to go back before ur update, and try charging over again..

Might also be the charger.
When on USB the phone draws less power than on power plug.
If something weird is wrong with your charger it might happen that the "power" plug is not recognized correctly and you only get the usb-power.
Have a look at (not complely sure where) settings->phone settings->battery info if it is correctly identified. It should show something like connected (AC) when plugged in.

It happened to me too, until I charged it two and a half days in a row and it worked out
This is a widespread, meanwhile pretty well-known problem. A whole range of the HTC Legend line is coming down with this problem. I have two of these, both without invoice. :-(
The only solution I have heard of is to return the phone and have it repaired, which essentially means replaced.
This post is about 1 year ago, but what was the solution. I have think the same problem with my senstation!

Alright, before you tell me to remove batterystats.bin and move along read this carefully.
I've had my HTC Legend for about 8(?) months now. Around the same time, my mum also bought one. I rooted mine, flashed CM 7.0.0, up to the newest nightly now. She left it as she got it, only upgraded to Froyo when the update came out. Everything is working great, except for the battery statistics.
Around 4 months ago my mother first complained about her battery not charging to 100%. It got worse over the weeks, and the battery level also started dropping faster and faster. It has gotten to the point where, when she gets it off the charger in the morning, it's around 52% (Even though it's been charging for forever, and should theoretically easily be on 100%). After about 5(!) minutes of using the phone, it will have dropped to a 2% battery. Battery life, however, is hardly suffering. She can just walk around with a 2% battery for the rest of the day. Obviously the batterystats are totally ****ed up. After 2-3 months my phone started doing the same, except it does it less severe. I can only charge to 50~60% as well too.
Around this point, I started looking around, and found about how android saves it's battery levels. I rooted and flashed my phone, and using fake flash, I booted into Clockwork recovery, mounted /System (S-on phone, can't edit system when phone is on, still no s-off for hboot 1.01..) and removed the batterystats.bin. I did in a couple of ways now, including the build-in option and using Android Commander. My phone, however, still won't charge past certain numbers.
Now my questions to everyone here is: Did anyone else have problems like these? Any solutions you'd like to suggest? Are batterystats/total voltage also saved somewhere else?
I'd like to point out that the battery itself is not damaged or anything. When my mum's phone had these problems, and mine didn't yet, we tested her battery in my phone, and it would charge to 100% just fine, and the levels weren't messed up.
Her problems started around the time she flashed Froyo from the official update. I can see how flashing a new rom messes up the batterystats.bin, but apparently that's not the only file being wrong?
Any suggestions are VERY welcome.
Tl;dr: Phone battery won't charge past 50% or so, battery level drops to 1% in 5 minutes.
EDIT 1: My mum send her Legend to HTC to get it ''fixed'' THREE weeks ago. She got it back today, them saying it was fixed. After a good 10 hours in the charger it still won't go to 100%, and after 30 minutes the battery levels dropped from 70% to 1%. I think it's quite shocking how HTC can say something is fixed without even trying to charge it to 100%.
you can try this, can't hurt
Turn your phone on and charge it for 8 hours or more
Unplug the charger
Turn your phone off and charge it for one hour
Unplug the charger
Turn on the phone and wait 2 minutes
Turn your phone off and charge it for one hour
Unplug, turn it on and use as normal.

Thanks for the reply,
sad to say I've already followed steps like these atleast three times. Including charging without entering pin, when off, when on, etc etc. Still, thanks for the suggestion.
no such problem yet ... but i'd be interested to know if you were able to resolve it... it cant be a coincidence both you and your mom 's battery levels acting up.

Could be so, but I don't think we're the only people in the whole world to have this problem. I'll keep this thread updated with any information I might stumble across and any other solutions tried. If anyone could tell me where the maximum values for the battery are stored in android it'd be great, seeing how deleting the batterstats.bin file didn't help, there must be another file in android tracking battery..
Hi,
so you're not alone. My Legend is showing the exact same symptoms.
I bought my Legend used via ebay and the seller told that the battery won't fully charge. No problem i thought, just buy a new battery.
Even with the new battery it won't charge more than 60% and it decreases to 10% in 5 minutes.
Just had a test. Even with 60% power at the beginning and 10% after 5 minutes it still was working for 80 hours!
unfortunately i don't know when the probs started to occur. My legend is also with the official Froyo flashed.

Everyone seems to have this problem since Froyo. HTC fixes it by replacing the motherboard, which basically means they replace 90% of the phone... So basically, there is no real fix around. :/
seem like hardware fault..

Could be so, but it seems strange as the problem starts occuring after flashing to froyo. [Even though going back to eclair doesn't seem to fix it..]
Anybody had this problem?
I've had my GS2 for nearly 3 months and all has been well. Coming from a Motorola XT720, EVERYTHING is better including the battery life.
Last week I noticed that when connecting the charger, it took a long time for the phone to register that it was connected, ie. it didn't beep, light up and show the charging icon. It was also slow to recognize that the charger had been disconnected. (The charging icon would stay on for some time after.)
I thought a re-boot would help and it threw up the big battery charging icon flashing alternately with the battery over heating icon! Even pulling the battery wouldn't stop the warning message unless it was removed for at least a couple of hours or re-booting via Home, Vol+ and Power.
Whilst all of this was happening, battery life plummeted. I normally get about 1-3% loss of battery per hour in standby but this increased to 5-10% per hour.
The phone has somehow regained its normal response to the charger being connected and disconnected but the poor battery life remains.
Its un-locked, un-rooted and running KF3:KE7:KD1
Any ideas before I do a complete reset?
I would get a new battery to start with, if you UK, 7dayshop.com have an 1800mah for only. £4.49 delivered.

Thanks. I forgot to mention that I've just bought an Andida "2000"mAh battery from Mobilefun. It's only had a couple charging cycles but it's behaving exactly the same as the original battery, which confuses things!
It could be that the problem is effecting it our it's just not working at it's full potential yet.

Even the biggest best know battery manufactures cannot make a 2000mah battery to fit the S2 without needing a replacement back cover, the new Samsung 2000mah needs one.
So the Andida "2000"mAh battery , is more likely to be around 1500-1800mah
Yep, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is! Will probably return it and wait for the
official Samsung 2000 mAh.
Would still like to know what's going on with the sudden loss of battery life.

Since you have tried a second battery and the phone is acting the same way the fault must be with the phone, the charging socket is not loose or something?
Or maybe the phone charger is faulty, do you have a second to try?
It looks like you should try a reset before you seek refund/replacement.
My appologies if this question has been answered somewhere else, I could not find any other threads with a similar situation.
My phone was dropped and ever since then it has not shown me the right battery level. It will charge on USB or AC up to 99% and stop. I connected it to AC power 30 hours ago and it never gave me the green light. This is after a full drain and then recharge. It did however stop charging at some point. I noticed no light was on, red or green, turned on the phone and my battery had gone from 99% to 41% in 22 minutes. I plugged it into USB and it appears to be charging back up. My widget now shows 84% with 4334mV (i dont know if this is right or not).
It is not an issue with the battery. My wife has the same phone and I swapped batteries. Mine works fine in her phone and I have the same problem with hers.
My other issue is that when I use the phone off the charger it will not show me the level accurately when it is draining battery. Example being, I unplug the phone at 99%, within 5 minutes I'm down to 92% (i know this is not unusual because of how the batteries charge). But, I will stay at 92% for hours and hours, with moderate use of internet, phone, and apps. Then it will fall from 92 to 60 ish in a few minutes and do the same thing. Sometimes it will tell me that I'm getting low (under 15%) other times it just turns off a second or two after the notification. If I plug in the phone and turn it on it shows me 1% and charges up to 99%.
In the few minutes I have been typing my phone charged up to 91% with 4336mV.
I was running ViperRom ICS when the issue started. Restored it back to Stock with no root and the issue remained. Now I am running Mean Rom ICS with the same issues.
I have cleared the battery cache in recovery too.
Any help would be appreciated.
If you kiss it. your phone will love you and it'll be all better. NOW KISS IT AND TELL YOUR PHONE YOU'RE SORRY FOR DROPPING IT! LOL!
Based on my experience with batteries of all kinds, it sounds like one of the cells may be damaged. Best bet is to get a new battery. They are decently cheap for a good one. Im actually looking for an extended unit myself. If you come across one, please PM me.
Thanks
That was my first thought but when I swap my battery with my wife's battery I have the same problem. Both batteries work fine in her phone but not in mine.
Sorry to bring this up again, my bad. But seriously you are not the only one with this issue.. I had the same problem since stock, swap battery didn't help either.
Hi again
I know this is a well know issue but i wanted to ask something about the batteries and this problem. For some reason when i bought my Atrix it came with the bh5x, but i bought a bh6x after a few months. The problem is that when i started flashing roms the battery stopped charging to 100% with the bh6x, in some roms it charges to 93%, sometimes to 72%, etc; but my stock battery every time charges up to 100%. I know it may sound crazy, how can batteries affect this percentage since the charge it's the same, only the mAh.
The bh6x charges up to 100% (my phones says) when i charge it with the wall charger. I'm now using the bh6x in case of i ran out of battery with the bh5x because for some reason, using the bh6x while charged with the external charger, my camera stops working, it force closes. At the beginning i thought that this could be just coincidence, but i haven't had that problem since i put the bh5x as the primary one.
For me it doesn't make sense that the stock one charges full, and the bh6x(original) doesn't. I thought that there could be some file or configuration on the phone that i've not seen, i'm not a professional in this rom stuff, but i know at least the basics.
Has someone experienced something like this?

There is a fix for that. I can't remember who did it, or what it is called, but it is in the dev. section.

Yeah, i know that there is a fix for that, but that was not the question, otherwise i would just download it over again. The intrigue here was that it's akward that my stock battery( bh5x) charges always to 100% without problems, but my replacement battery(bh6x) doesn't and when i charge with the wall charger it seems to cause problems with the camera, i just wanted to see if someone had the same problem, or even just the one in the camera....
I believe everyone got their atrix with the bh6x, don't know why mine came with bh5x...
Well, I have bh6x.
The battery was always charging to 100%
Untill last Tuesday.
I am on epinter's JellyBean, I was getting up to 30hrs of battery life. On Tuesday I dropped my phone, not a big hit but enought to cause the battery fell off. It was at around 75% at the time. Once I put it back in it showed 1%. Wipe stats, rebooting, nothing changed. Now after a full night of charging the meter shows 30% max. The battery seems to be fully charged as the batt calibration shows 4200mAh and the battery still lasts a very long time it just reports the wrong percentage.
Anyone knows what could cause it and how to fix it?

Well, i think you are in the case that upndwn4par said. For that there is a post in the developer section that is called Atrix battery fix, something like that, you can search it.
There are some other methods in another post that consisted in charging and disconnect the battery from the phone and wait for the question mark to appear in the screen, then putting it back again and let it charge for a while, after that it will show you 100%, but for me it only worked for 1 time. I think the post is called something like " The ultimate battery guide" .... i can't remember exactly the title

I also have this problem
same, i have got 2 offical battery, and 2 china, and if i change the battery, even if they are fully charged, my Atrix report wrong value....
The battery fix by jaggernaut is for Gingerbread. I am running JellyBean.
By the way: funny thing happened: I dropped the phone again, so the battery fell out abruptly again... Now it reports the percentage properly...
Hello there people!
Basically this is my first post on here because it's actually the first time that I couldn't find a thread covering the same/similar problem that I'm experiencing...
Here's my issue:
I've got two batteries for my SGS 2, the standard 1650mAh battery and an extended 2000mAh battery (Official Samsung Extended Battery Kit), which I bought about half a year ago, when the stock one started giving me battery life of only few hours.
Yesterday, when my battery died I plugged it into my PC and booted the phone back up immediately without letting it charge even a little bit because I was in a hurry... Since I started using it right away the battery drained faster than it could charge and died within seconds with the screen flickering.
I knew I wasn't really being nice to the battery so I finally let it turned off to charge...
This was when I noticed that it wouldn't charge at all (no charging indicator), though it did seconds before when it was on.
So I tested different USB cables and sockets --> Not charging.
I replaced the battery with the old one that I haven't used in months --> Charging!
These results prove that the charger itself and the USB port of the phone do work and indicate that the issue is with the extended battery.
Now my question is: Can a battery just break so suddenly and if yes, is it fixable and how? I knew a battery can get weaker with age and become useless this way and that the most common reason for a battery to not charge at all are broken components (usb cable or port) but I never knew batteries could suddenly stop working.
Keep in mind the 'broken' battery is relatively new (5 months) in comparison to the old one which was in duty for 2+ years.
Another thought: Maybe it's a problem with the phone, 'not recognizing' the battery after it had its sudden death?
I hope my description was somewhat clear and thank you guys in advance for your help and suggestions!
P.S. Don't know if it's of any help here but I'm running a cm 10.2 nightly (Android 4.3.1)
Of course batteries can die like that after a few mths. Manufacturing process isn't always perfect, some of questionable quality will always get through QC. Fix a battery - You're kidding, right ?
I doubt you can get a replacement, most guarantees on phone batteries are 90 days in my experience, but you can certainly go back to the seller & try.

past few months the phone is working fine, it will go overheated (when charging sometimes not charging) if i use other version of blazing kernel.
this two days, something strange happen to my phone. it keep on overheating both charging and non charging. i have no idea what goes wrong as i did not flash anything nor change the rom. to charge my phone it takes longer as its burning!
without charging it also burning.
i do not know what to do now, any senior member can lend a hand?
