Did you go into the busybox installer itself on the phone and pick the latest version with the busybox app?

I have the stable one, not the newest one.

I had the same problem before when I updated my busybox to the wrong version. What I did was using the latest flash tool 0.2.9.1 to reinstall xrecovery. These are the steps.
1. Connect your phone to the pc.
2. Run flashtool 0.2.9.1
3. A pop up window will come up and select x10.
4. Select Ask Root Permission on the flashtool and select Allow when SU app appears on your phone.
5. Then select xrecovery on the flashtool and it will install xrecovery back for you.
6. Reboot the phone and try press back button a few times when you see SE logo appears.
Hope this will help you.

Do the manual install again and make sure you 'mount r/w' before pasting the 3 files in system>bin and theres no way it goes wrong. Do not install busybox as it is included with the XRecovery files. Make sure to copy the chargemon, busybox and XRecovery.tar files which you can get by extracting them from the installer apk.

Manually installed it again, and I still couldn't get into xrecovery. Do you think the problem is in conflicting busyboxes?

Did this, and still no luck.

OK do this.
Make sure you have android sdk installed.
Open up command.
type
Code:
cd <path to adb.exe>
adb shell
su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock2 /system
chmod 4755 /system/bin/sh
then push the 3 files to /system/bin
It should work. Installing from flash tool doesn't work for me don't know why. So every time i flash se 2.1 through flash tool i do the above.

and by the three files, you mean the chargemon, busybox, and xrecovery.tar?

okayy, so android SDK refuses to install. Any other ways i can make it work? What does FreeXperiaRecovery do?

Yes, those are the files. The problem could be the conflicting busybox files. Find where the busybox install app placed the file in 'system' and remove it and then try again.

To install the SDK you first need to have the latest JAVA JDK. FreeXperia is just a different recovery that is almost identical but the files are in a different location. Dont bother with it, if you do it right XRec will work.

Have installed and run xrecovery many many times. Dont know if this will help but here goes.
Connect to sues and fresh install of 2.1
Reboot phone
Connect back to pc and using flashtool root phone.
Wait for reboot
Connect to market download busybox and install
Open busybox and clixk bottom button will install latest version
Download xrexovery apk version3 from zhidu thread on xda
Reboot phone
Press on xrecovery icon in app drawer and install xrecovery
All 3 icons on left should have green tick when finished
Reboot phone
On sony ericcson logo press back button ( think any button will work) many times quickly
Enjoy xrecovery and the devs amazing roms

There is no reason to install busybox if you are installing XRecovery! XRecovery is dependant on busybox being installed in the same folder and it's one of the 3 files installed. You could maybe install the latest busybox in the system>bin and then just install the other 2 files but all installing it in the system and then installing the one from XRec will do is cause potential conflict. Installing busybox with XRec installed will break your recovery and mess up your phone so you need to reflash. Just follow the instructions in the XRec thread, dont add any steps or skip any and you'll be fine.

Cannot access Xrecovery since SEUS update to build .435

I have found *similar* threads but not exactly this : Prior to updating to .435 through SEUS, I was able to use Xrecovery 0.2 to backup my system image. I just tried to backup a new updated image, and I cannot access xrecovery. I know the procedure is to hit the back button repeatedly at the white SE logo, and that worked prior to the update, but now it just continues to boot up the phone into normal mode. I tried to reinstall xrecovery with the Xrecovery APK already i the app drawer, but no dice. The backup files I already created are still in /sd/xrecovery/backup. I saw them through root explorer. If this question has already been asked, I am sorry. I did do a search
I am rooted with SuperoneClick. Titanium Backup, Busybox & Superuser all verified working.
Thanks all!

I flashed custom ROM to get 2.1.A.0.435 update and xRecovery is installed(.3) so I recommend that.
I tried both the manual file copy way and the auto install from the APK. identical result from both.. no xrecovery on reboot. I did get a suggestion to try to actually flash xrecovery using the new flashtool .026, which includes an option to install busybox/xrecovery. I will try that as soon as soon my phone charges back up and post the result.
Thanks everyone!

Thanks for all the help, tips & advice!!! Got it going. Manual file copy works w build .435! I had tried repeatedly copying the 3 files from the /res/raw folder from my pc to the phone but it never worked.
Thanks again all.

Have you tried installing busybox from Flashtool?
Try rebooting your phone and then try running the busybox installer.
no luck
Try installing Titanium Backup from Market and then install busybox from there
Use flashtool to install busybox.
still no luck
When using flashtool to root and flash busybox, make sure your phone is in debugging mode.
OK I was able to get it to work but now i have another problem. After getting busybox and xrecovery installed, i rebooted and went into Xrecovery and started to install a custom ROM BUT my battery fell out in the middle of the process (stupid me) so now i've just got a screen stuck at Sony Ericsson. You can use Flashtool to flash the 2.1 SE stock ROM.
or
You can use SEUS to reinstall the 2.1 SE
or
If you made a backup of your ROM in xRecovery, you can restore it.
OK when i tried to go thru SEUS it said that i had the most up to date software and gave no option for a repair/reinstall. I uninstalled SEUS and am reinstalling it now
OK I still get the same message when trying to use SEUS. What can i do differently? Plz help i want my phone back

[Q] Flashing Custom ROMs

I want to know if there is any other way to flash a cusom ROM, like Froyo or Gingerbread without using xRecovery, because I can't boot into recovery.
Tried to install xRecovery using the app, but it doesn't let me install it. Tried the manual way, I've put the 3 files in System/Bin and it still does not boot into recovery.
I have a 1.6 firmware and I can't install official 2.1 because it gives me an error when I try to install it via PC Companion and when I try to flash a firmware using FlashTool, my phone won't boot. The only firmware I can flash is from ROOT_F3V3 so that my phone can boot.
I have no Repair button in SEUS, it just sais that there is no software update for my phone and the only choice I have is Finish. This happens for no matter what firmware I install.
Can you help me please?

You don't have to put those 3 files in system/bin.Just find system/bin with your Root Explore, check on all 9 permissions of this folder and then go to the XR app and install it.If you still can't boot into XR after installation, maybe you should try Xrecovery 0.0.1.version.It always works for those people who can't boot into XR just like you.Good luck.Sorry for my bad English.

STILL cannot enter xRecovery mode...

So i've tried different ways of doing it...
- rooted using "All in one solution by Mikevhl"
- download and installed xRecovery 0.3
- rebooted and spam BACK when SE letter comes up, nothing happened.
- Reset back to factory
- rooted the same way
- download BusyBox from Market, installed ans symlink the latest 1.19 BusyBox
- installed xRecovery 0.3
- rebooted, again, spamming BACK and nothing happen
I've tried having the USB cable plugged in, and unplugged. Both way give me the same thing... What else am i missing? UGH...
let me share what i did
after rooting... i downloaded the xrecovery rar file from here
then i downloaded Titanium backup from the market. Once installed i clicked "Problems?" on that app and it downloaded busybox
after busybox installed i then unpacked the xrecovery on my pc. it contains three files (chargemon busybox and xrecovery.zip)
i copied those three to my SD card.
On my phone i opened root explorer, opened sd card and selected those three files then clicked MOVE
set root explorer to mount R/W then go to system/bin and paste the three files there.
reboot and keep pressing the back key once the SE white logo apprears. VIOLA!
"spamming" the back button didnt work for me. you have to press it once every second.

Hi you can use the flash tool for x10 mini, first root and it will automatically restart, then press ask for permissions, the the xrecovery button becomes avaible and finally press it . Just dont press the optimize button coz it's intended to jit the big xperia with v2 jit, if you press it your device will be stuck in an infinite loop and never get out of that without removing the battery cable inside your phone

I will try it tonight, but also faced another problem, after i re-mount it with RW, if i reboot, everything goes back to RO. I try to locate the equivalent of /etc/fstab in the android but i couldn't find it.
Does your phone's file-system permission stick after reboot?
Are you guys all using the 0.1 beta or the latest 0.3 releases?
Beware of the market busybox, I updated mine to .19 and it caused major problems.
I was using MiniCM, installed the market busybox and the phone looped. Also, when I was using Srom, I uninstalled some system apps (the usual stuff I don't use) and the phone rebooted and I lost my root... which meant that I couldn't get into recovery.
So maybe try pratyush_gamer's idea, should work, his knowledge has helped me!!
Still no go, tried titanium backup's busybox, tried to manually copy and paste those 3 files, tried to delete those 3 files and reinstall the xRecovery package...
I'm running 2.1.1.A.0.6 and Kernel 2.6.29 SEMCHost#1
Should i downgrade or something?
Did you upgrade using the below method? I'd and it worked for me.

Oh and don't worry about the optimize button, it works fine on the mini. If you download the X10 version it might loop after JIT but theres a mini version too.

What I did is replace my build.prop (the one sitting in /system) with the one pedrocel85 provided, rebooted, connected my phone to SEUS and did the upgrade the normal way through SEUS and then did the JIT, recovery etc. modding afterwards with flasher. OK. I've re-format my SD card, reset to factory setting AGAIN. (however, is weird, the build.prop that i put in earlier is still there)
So i downloaded:
- xRecovery 1.0 beta (i read that the 2.0 and 3.0 doesn't work
- install busybox 1.15.2
- install RootExplorer and copied the xRecovery files to system/bin
- chmod 777 all the files
Reboot nothing happen...
- copy paste the xRecovery files into system/xbin (desperately trying to get this **** to work)
Reboot... nothing happen. i was spamming the back button the whole time. I've seen some youtube video, people spam it and the xRecovery menu come up within like half a second after the SE logo come out...
This thing won't go into the xRecovery at all. I'm completely out of idea... If anyone else have any other new tricks, please let me know.
Fixed. Went to redownload another FlasherTool, using the non-beta v2.8.0
- Hit Root, Reboot
- Hit Ask Root Perms
- Optimize (maybe this is optional, but i was trying it out and hit it)
- Hit xRecovery
- Advanced -> xRecovery -> Reboot into xRecovery.
Awesome, thought the flasher would work!
Enjoy!!

Yes of course i would have done that if I could get into flash mode.. and I will test if that works on a friends computer tomorow ( my computer is crap! )
But I just think, what if that doesn't work.. what to do then? Do it work to change the files in system/lib so i can come in to xrec, and then flash another rom?
