[Q] WiFi disconnects after 1-2 hours - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After that, I have to turn Wi-Fi off and on manually (restart).
This happens usually after sleep. Sleep policy is set to never.
Any ideas?

[Q] Anyone having wifi issues when screen is off?

It seems that my network connection on wifi starts to slow to a trickle after a minute or so after the screen turns off.
I'm running CM7 nightly 14, Glitch Kernel, wifi sleep policy set to never.
Check this.

Wifi Sleep Test...

Quick test for those that are having high battery drain due to the newest firmware release, with lots of usage being attributed to wifi...
If you have the wifi sleep policy set to never (Settings, Wifi, Advanced Wifi, Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep = Never), if you turn off the prime, can you still ping the IP address listed that's assigned to the prime when it's in sleep mode?
If I set it to sleep / close the dock, wait 5 mins or so, then ping it's IP address, I get a few timeouts then it starts responding...
If I start pinging it when it's awake, I get ~250ms pings, if I sleep the prime it times out a few times then the ping jumps to 700ms odd...
To me - this indicates that the wifi's not sleeping properly, when you sleep the prime it should stop responding entirely...
Does anyone else get this?
I've never had a wi-fi battery problem issue so far.
But there a setting in Asus Customized Settings, all the way down 'Disconnect Network during Sleep'
it at the very least logs you off Skype and doesn't sync/receive emails when you close the lid on with the dock.
Cheers

Correct.. but 21 increased battery drain, probably because of changes in WiFi power. They wanted to fix the weaker reception, many are experiencing.
Otherwise, you suggestions are very good.
There is another thread about it...

Wifi turns off even when set to NEVER

Under settings/wifi/advanced, I have "keep wifi on during sleep" set to always. Yet after being off for a while, wifi seems to turn off. That is, upon waking phone from sleep, I can see it reconnecting to wifi, THEN my email is downloaded (k9 set to imap push). This indicates the above setting is not being respected.
Under "settings/more/usage/mobile network" is also set to on. This would suggest that even when wifi is not available, 3g/4g would still be used. This also does not seem to be the case. When waking the phone from sleep, I can see it reconnecting to 3g, then immediately connecting to wifi.
The goal is to have data enabled, even when the phone is sleeping so email can be received. The old evo 4g had a setting to keep data on even when phone was asleep.
Suggestions?

[Q] Wifi sleep policy

I have no problems connecting to a wifi network. The problem is, every time screen goes off, wifi also turns off, even when i set wifi policy to "always on". Has anyone had a similar issue? is it just me doing something wrong? thanks in advanced.
Same problem here on CM10.1. I was annoyed, so I set wi-fi to turn of when the screen turns off.
If anyone has a fix for keeping wi-fi always on, please let us know.

WiFi disconnecting after screen off

I have CM10.2 (25/11/2013) with Googy max 1.7.9. In WiFi advanced settings, Keep WiFi on during sleep set as always.
But if the screen turn off more than 5 minutes, WiFi disconnect. But its not actual WiFi turn off. After screen turn on, it automatically (instantly ) connecting to WiFi network.
How do I fix this issue?
Thanks!
