WTF Can anyone help? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok i listen to my GS2 in the car through an Aux cable and all is well
But when i lock the screen there is no way to skip the music tracks other than put in my pin and unlock the whole phone!!
Is there any way to bring up a quick music screen or widget to avoid doing this all the time??

+1 for poweramp

yes there is in stock music player there is a little area at the top of the screen while locked.. (at least ifyou are locking without pattern, havent tested it with that)
just try hitting the center button then you can go to top of screen and control the music or skip tracks..
alternatively you can get a media adapter in iphone format and hit the button twice quick to skip tracks.. even while locked.

What do I need to do to use volume buttons to skip to the next music track?

Hi,
I really, really miss the function of being able to skip to the next track by holding down the volume buttons, like on my blackberry, so I don't have to take the phone out of my pocket, wake it up, unlock screen, and manually press the "next" button just to skip to the next track (I am the type of person that skips tracks often, and do not like playlists).
Since I use custom in ear monitors, I don't have the remote on the earphone like the stock earphones do.
On the web, someone mentioned that all I have to do is root the phone, and install an app such as buttonremapper, and then I will be able to remap the volume button to act as a music track skipper when being long pressed.
Is this true? I much rather not flash to another rom.
Thank you soooo much!
Cyanogenmod has this functionality. Currently, nothing other than Cyanogen will do what you want.
If you want to keep stock ROM though, your only choice is PlayerPro. It has a lockscreen widget that lets you use the volume buttons to skip tracks when the device is locked.
Ah, thank you for your reply! I had actually used Player Pro when I first gotten my SG2, but switched to Poweramp because of the better EQ.
I have downloaded Player Pro again, and the skip song function works great. I just wish it works while the screen is on, and works with widgetlocker instead of its own locker. But I know I can't have everything.
Thank you again.
No problem. Latest version of PlayerPro also introduced a shake to skip songs feature, so you can use that to skip songs while another app is active. I tried it and it works.
Once again, thank you so much aydc! You have solved my problem! I will give the shake and bake a try, I just hope people don't think I am weird when they see my hand shaking/baking around in my pocket..
I LOVE this phone! (other then no led notification, and no default music skipping via volume button )

CM7 lockscreen music controls bug

Howdy guys!
I hope you have all recovered from the crazies of last night!
I have a bug to report for CM7. I use the lockscreen music controls which can be activated from the Cyanogenmod settings>Lockscreen>Widget options.
So here is what's wrong. Sometimes it works all fine but more often than not, what happens is that the music controls (back, play/pause, skip) just don't work. I press the next button a few times, but nothing happens. I unlock the phone and go to the next song manually in the app. But then after sometime the songs skip a few times. Looks like there is a huge delay between pressing the button and it doing what I ask for...
Same with play/pause and back buttons. By the way, I use the Google music BUT this happens with the stock music app as well.
Please help. I am a music addict. I need my fix! (pun purely coincidental)

I used TiBu to freeze the default player, and I use PowerAMP Pro. It just works, and the PowerAMP slide lock screen controls work perfect. Just me, though.
Ciao!
I just flashed this rom last night and while walking to work today, I gave the music player a try and didn't have any issues with skipping, both with the lock screen and long holding the volume button.
+1 on PowerAmp. That app rocks! It was one of the first apps I purchased. TiBu was the next one.
Have you tried the setting to skip songs with the volume up/down buttons? I've been using that feature so I dont even have to turn the phone on to use the screen.
I would use other music apps but I also use Google Music and other music apps dont have the ability to stream from there yet.
EDIT: Or try gestures to skip, play, pause, etc.

+1 I also use power amp. No issues here.
I think I know what the problem is. I've had this same issue too in the past. If you press the play button on the widget, the lock screen doesn't show up so in order for it to work normally you would need to enter into the app first to work which defeats the purpose of the widget. I am using cubed music player.
Not sure how to fix your problem, but here might be an alternative for you!!
While the screen is "off"(and possibly at the lock screen), you can HOLD the volume UP button to go to the next track, and HOLD the volume DOWN to go back a track.

Increase headphone volume?

I have recently purchased a Galaxy S Player 5.0, rooted and upgraded the firmware to stock gingergbread.
But i find when using the default music player in my car, the volume is very low, if i use poweramp it increases to the same as my iPod. However i dont want to use poweramp i want to use the stock music player. How can i boost the volume?
I have tried Voodoo but i have a stock Kernel so that doesnt work, is there any way to get into the service menus like on the Galaxy S2 and boost via the codes?
Is it just in the car? Or do you have this problem with speaker and earphones. Also are you using bluetooth to play it from car steros?

Quick Question. Have you tried to Google Play Music app and also have you tried to use any equalizers?
why dont you put the equalizer settings all the way up in the stock player? i have mine set up like that and it boosts the volume a good deal
Headphones are plenty loud enough, its just when i use it in my car. I use the Headphone socket in the car not bluetooth.
Equalizer settings are all the way up and it has made it louder but it is still alot quieter than Power Amp.
I prefer the default app as when you press the home button twice on the lockscreen it has the pulldown menu to change track easily, which is less hassle when driving than unlocking the screen and changing track in Power Amp. Also if i just use Power Amp il have the stock music icon sitting in the dock and not being used, i cant replace it with Power Amp unless i use a different launch can i??
Its not the songs as they are the same songs i have always had and on my old iPod the volume is much much louder.
I havent used google play music as its not available in the UK
Im guessing as there isnt a dialler on the Galaxy Player that the service codes to boost volume cant be accessed?
1.you can change the icon just hold and drag unless its not on the "desktop" then you go into the app drawer and press the menu button and press the edit button and now just hold and drag and i am pretty sure poweramp has equalizer settings that you can put up to and it should have a lockscreen control available.... or not try n7player.... it's pretty good

there is no harm in flashing a kernel if you fell up to it. if not you can go into setting of the main music app and one of the last settings for sound alive is user 1 and user 2. use one of those and drag all the knobs up to the top and that should give you a great deal of difference in sound level

Why don't you use Poweramp's lock screen?
And the icon in the dock can be changed, I changed mine to Poweramp.

+1 Poweramps lockscreen kicks the crap out of the stock.
Also Voodoo sound is for the 4.0, nothing you can EVER do to the 5.0 will make voodoo sound work on it, it uses a different DAC.

[Q] [HELP PLEASE] pressing the Play/Pause button on headset keeps turning phone on

Hey guys, i'm kinda new here so, I hope i'm posting in the correct thread. I hope someone here can help me out with my problem though.
Anyways, whenever i'm listening to music, and I press the play/pause button on my headset to control my music tracks, my phone turns on. This get's really annoying because every time my phone turns on, it stays on for a few seconds, and this really kills battery life. I've tried lurking around my phone's settings and even my launcher settings, but i can't find a way to fix this.
My phone is a rooted HTC Wildfire S running AOKP custom rom with Nova Launcher Prime. And if it makes any difference, I'm using the "Start" lock screen from the Play Store.
Thanks guys!:good:

This isn't a native feature so the first thing to do is to check the settings of your rom and Start app. Normally there's an option you have enabled.
Do u use an app to control your headset buttons? There's maybe an option that turns on your screen while pressing the buttons.

I triple checked Start app settings as well as rom control settings. There's nothing there that seems to be the problem. I don't have an app to control my headset buttons either. I can't think of anything that must be causing this issue.

No, i don't think I use active display or lockscreen notifications. When my screen turns on, i don't see any notifications or anything related to the music player. It just turns on regularly as if I were to press the power button to turn it on.

Question Spotify controls on lock screen

Hi all
im still an Android newbie so apologies if this has been asked before. I did search the forum before posting and got some older hits but I’ve not been able to fix my issue.
I have a P6 non rooted and use Spotify. I’d like to see the basic controls on my Lock Screen. Is this possible?
The only thing I can think of is Notifications. Do you allow Spotify to show Notifications and do you allow Notifications to be shown on your lock screen?
Hi there. I believe I have all of the settings correct to allow Spotify, yes.
Im Stumped
Hold on a moment. I set my screen to be off.
Pressed the power button whilst music was playing. The lock screen lights up and hey presto. I have Spotify controls.
So the problem is related to the always on screen when on standby.
