[Q] Force Closes after rooting and Titanium Backup. Help! - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got the phone yesterday which had the KE1 kernel already. I rooted this afternoon, and reapplied the KE1 kernel.
Everything seemed fine, but I've just run Titanium Backup to get my apps and settings, and I'm now getting FCs on my messaging app, Handcent, and some others including Email and Google Services.
Can anyone help? Is this caused by the root, or have my backups done this somehow and can I fix it? I didn't do a nandroid backup before (is it possible yet?) but I'm happy to do a factory reset if necessary.

Phew. Factory reset fixed it.

I did the same root and flashed it with the stock XWKE1 kernel. I will report any problems here. (Hope it's not a wide spread problem.)

Flash to Stock Bell and lost Google Apps

ok, so I flashed back to stock bell ROM via the instructions from NFHimself.
Everything worked fine, my phone is now back running fine, and i was able to run the Bell OTA update.
Only problem is now somehow i've lost all of the Google apps (ie. Maps, Gmail, Market).
Without the market I haven't been able to restore any of my apps. I've seen a lot of Market.apks out there, but theres dozens of versions, and i don't know if any of those are legit anyways.
Help?
factory reset, will come back.
I had the exact same problem, and the factory data reset fixed it.
thanks mates.
seemed like a pretty easy fix. i guess i didn't think of it since i figured it was already a clean flash.
cheers

Downgrade from LFB, flashed back: Very weird ISSUES!!

I was disappointed with the LFB performance etc so today I tried flashing back to LF2.
Process I followed was this:
1) Directly from LFB, I fashed LF2 tar with Odin without wipe
Problem faced: "android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly" and "contacts has stopped". Phone remained in a hung state with these messages popping up continuously and totally unusable.
2) Went back to CWM, wiped cache and dalvik cache, rebooted
Problem faced: Still same as above
3) Flashed back to LFB to make phone usable, took full Titanium backup. Then went back to CWM, wiped data (factory reset). Flashed LF2 again with Odin. Worked fine for a bit, then restored Titanium backup to get my apps and settings. Rebooted.
Problem faced: Still same as above.
4) Restored nandroid backup I had of LFB.
Problem faced: None, all working but I am still on LFB and back where I started.
Is there a way to go back to LF2 and keep my apps and data?
Any help will be appreciated and thanked.
Did you restore System apps? You can only use Titanium for non-system apps, since it will otherwise cause these issues.

Restored only user apps + data.
Could you try installing the apps one at a time until you find the issue?
Titanium shows 294 items.
I don't think I have the patience to install them one by one.
There's another MAJOR problem I'm facing now after doing the nandroid restore.
When I'm on a call, THE OTHER PERSON CAN'T HEAR ME!!
I'll try flashing the ROM again through Odin and see if that solves this issue. If it doesn't, I have no clue how to proceed from there.

You probably have LFB modem with known problem .
Solutions mess for hours or wipe phone flash clean rom .
jje
Did you have Samsung or Google, or third party app restore settings?
The fact that LFB introduced new settings that it attempts to restore on an rom without these options may cause issues.
OK, this is getting weirder.
I wiped phone clean, then flashed LFB because of above problem. Restored user apps+data with Titanium.
Phone was working fine, until someone called just now. The screen went black and I could hear the ringtone but name wasn't shown. After sometime I got a pop-up message "com.android.phone stopped working". And I couldn't see who called as it wasn't logged either.
Now it gets weirder.
I tried to replicate this issue by calling from my landline and another mobile but it worked perfectly for the 5-10 times I tried. Then I tried another different mobile and the problem occurs again!!! And this is when I have flashed LFB after clean wipe (in CWM) and not restored system apps.......!
Please HELP!! I am getting desperate now!

Could this explain the above problem?? Where do I disable it? I haven't enabled anything that's not on by default.

Your answer is in number one "contacts has stopped". Don't restore your [CONTACTS/CALLS] in Titanium backup. I have had this same problem before. I hope that helped.

[Q] Help Please!

I rooted my htc one and the camera stopped working. I didnt notice this until after i installed a custom kernel and when i unrooted, the kernel was still present and the camera still does not work. I also backed up my stuff on titanium backup because thats what everyone said to do if you were going to install kernals/roms. But when i saw the camera wasnt working, i tried reseting to factory and lost everything, including titanium backup.. so what im wondering is, is there any way to get back my stuff and is there any way to completely reset to factory settings as if it were day 1, including the kernel?
titanium backup application may have been lost , but the data might be present in your sd card
so if you install the app again you will find your data there .
to completely reset your phone as the way you got you will have to flash stock rom again then root it and restore apps by titanium

Youtube Playback not working (and other issues)...

Hello guys,
From the title, you might wonder what it has to do with the Z2 Tablet but I know for a fact it's the tablet and not the apps.
A few months back, I tried custom Roms; it all went fine until I tried CyanogenMod. The Rom itself was quite good but it messed up with the Recovery Partition, forcing the installation of the crappy Cyanogen Recovery (although the option to install it with updates was deactivated in the settings; I still don't understand how it got there). I had a hard time installing permanently another Recovery, it always got back to Cyanogen Recovery after a reboot.
A few issues also started to appear on non-Cyanogen ROMS : Adway wouldn't work. Titanium Backup sometimes couldn't find the backups. Youtube playback wouldn't work with the latest version. Gifs would never load on Relay for Reddit. It took me a while to realize that it was related to the ROM, until I actually tried Cyanogen again...where everything worked, sometimes using the same Titanium Backup for the apps !
I got fed up about this, so I decided to revert to full stock (latest 5.1) using the proper FTF.
And you know what ? Youtube Playback is not working, Gifs won't load in Relay. Can't speak for TiBu and Adaway as I didn't root but I'm sure they wouldn't work either. I'm also sure that other apps that I don't use have issues.
Do you have any idea what could be the source of these troubles ? Because if flashing a stock FTF still didn't fixed them, I think Cyanogen damaged my tablet more deeply than I thought...
Thanks !
Did you wipe data?
Not wiping data when going from cyanogen to stock causes problems very similar to yours. (only wiping cache isn't enough)

I always wipe the datas when changing roms. And I did wipe the datas when I flashed the FTF as well...
OGYoutube won't work as well. If only I could identify the issue...
Ok, here's the solution : I forgot to relock my bootloader...
so.. that's so strange. how relocking the bootloader fixes the youtube problem? I've got the same problem with youtube, BUT only with original sony 5.0.. 5.1 firmware. with 4.4.2 or cyanogenmod doesn't happen.

GAPPS Fail on Nandroid Recovery

I have been running various flavors of AOKP ROM's on SG3's for several years now. I recently obtained a refurb S3 and set it up to do the usual.
It came with stock TW 4.4.
Using ROM Manager I installed CWM and made an image of the stock phone. I then installed my AOKP variant and loaded my apps, blah blah. All is good.
I've since decided I want to revert back to TW for awhile. I restored my nandroid and I get the interminable GAPPS failure messages. I have on occasion been able to get it to calm down and have a working phone, usually be uninstalling play app and clearing framework services cache. This is extraordinarily painful and doesn't always work. I've done all the usual, reinstall GAPPS, etc., and basically it is a MAJOR headache just trying to get the image to function.
But....When it does work the phone does not see my SIM card, IMEI, nothing.. I have no mobile connectivity. Restoring the AOKP nandroid brings me back to a fully functioning phone.
So my questions are:
Can anyone explain to me why the TW nandroid is giving all these GAPPS issues and how to circumvent/fix it?
Why is the system seeming to lose my IMEI/SIM info? Is there a way to fix that? Should I have done something different in my setup/nandroid creation?
Lastly - I don't quite understand how CWM works. There is a recovery image. When I do factory reset, is it resetting to this recovery image as opposed to the factory TW? I seem to think so, when I do a reset I see the android version is not what my factory one is.
Thanks all.
