The Netflix app was released on the market today, but only officially works for some phones. http://www.androidcentral.com/netflix-finally-releases-android-app-only-available-select-phones-initially
Found the apk and tested it on my legend (running CM 7.0.3 stable) and happy to inform that it works even over 3g . Only found very minor lag in menu, very usable otherwise.

Netflix was working wonderfully well, especially on CM7, but now it no longer works and the market app doesn't appear (I was told that it no longer does a device check).
I found a link:
http://www.mediafire.com/?4xwncz7doz475tj
That works on some phones (my droid-x for example) but doesn't work on my Optimus-V
Anyone have a work around for this?
Found the answer:

The first file in the link works on my Optimus V.
Netflix broken again
Netflix has not worked since they "upgraded"
Has anyone else gotten Netflix to play?
This question was raised many times but as new (sable) version of mod ROM become available, I would like to ask it again which ROM has most improvements and more complete?
Is it CyanogenMod 7(7.0.3-Harmony) or VEGAn-TAB GingerEdition STABLE RC1?!?!?!
For example:
• VEGAn-TAB GingerEdition STABLE RC1 does not support High Definition Video Hardware Decoding. How about CyanogenMod 7 (7.0.3-Harmony), does it?
Is anything that supported by VEGAn-TAB GingerEdition STABLE RC1 but CyanogenMod 7 (7.0.3-Harmony), does not support it?
I would like to build kind of side by side comparison of 2 latest stable releases.
Ps. Personal question:
Does any of mod ROM support Bluetooth Microphone? (Original build (3588) does not!)
VEGAn-Ginger is built off the source of CM7.0. So if you are running VEGAn-Ginger you are really running CM7 base with some framework changes and a few additions/tweaks that Gojimi felt were better (some Google Apps installed, icon/graphic changes, etc..).
CM7.0 has gone to CM7.01-stable, CM7.02-Stable and now sitting at CM7.03-stable with many nightly versions in between. (Nightlies have moved to a new branch....OS 2.3.4 while the 'stable' versions are on the 2.3.3 branch).
Some of the tweaks Gojimi made in his release are now part of CM7.03 while the underlying source has also been updated by the CyanogenMod team.
Netflix works on CM7.03, it does not work on VEGAn-Ginger.
Both were nice when released, but CM7.03 has moved forward and implemented new features/code updates/bug fixes, AOSP merges etc.. while VEGAn-Ginger is still based off old CM7.0.
Thank you, tcrews.
You probably cleared a lot if newbie (like me) questions by this simple post.
so does CM7.03 support High Definition Video Hardware Decoding? (if not - does it mean I will not be able to watch 1080p videos?)
does CM7.03 support Bluetooth microphone? (I hope it still supports Bluetooth headphones)
Thanks
Partial hardware acceleration has been added to CM7.03 but not full.
The problem is that no hardware drivers for the chipset have been released that are compatible with Gingerbread.
I don't use bluetooth for anything so can't answer that question.
Also, it looks like gojimi has stopped development on the gtablet. It doesn't appear that VEGAn will be getting frequent updates anytime soon.
CM7 is being updated fairly regularly though. If you want gingerbread, also try the gharmony and vanilla aosp based roms. They have all the cm7 libraries
I used VeganGinger till last week. The installed CM7 and am loving it.
No more battery draining when idle. No waiting 20 min for it to boot up. It just works better for me.
Could you pls. confirm, CyanogenMod supports Skype video calls on G Tablet?
Thanks
Ps. I assume TNT Lite (retired) supports High Definition Video Hardware Decoding because it based on Android 2.2?
How bad it, do not have HD Video Hardware Decoding? (Presumably question to current CyanogenMod users) Can you watch movies, any limitation?
i got a new gtab with 1.2 bootloader. I would like to try this new cm7 since it is gingerbread and plays netflix... where is a link with instructions to use this rom?

If you get the chipmunk effect, don't give up, just do some research, for me it was an easy fix, i just had to modify the build.prop file
I have used a USB wireless 2.4Ghz Keyboard on CM7.03 Stable. It was plug and play. Not tried blutooth headphones yet.
Are there any roms that will work with skype video?
Brilliant corners or C&C should work.there is an existing thread in the Apps section re Skype - C&C looks like the best bet
Any links to "C&C" ? I found Brilliant Corners but no luck on C&C.
Thanks for your help.

Calkulin + Clemsyn. Version 7 is the most recent, and requires bootloader 1.2. I am still using Version 5, which is the last version that supports bootloader 1.1. Link below to its thread.
Skype with video works very well on it. I use it almost daily now to Skype with family and friends. I heard Version 7 works well with Skype, too, but I have not tried it.

That sounds like a winner.
For what it's worth, Skype force closes every time I attempt to open it with BC, but ran fine on C&C
I'm running the latest beasty rom and Skype works with video. The image is upside down but it may be something i change in the settings.
Sent from my Adam using xda premium
G tablet cyanogenmod 7.1.0.1
Theos0o skype 2.5.108 v12 beta partially works. Outgoing video perfect.(avoid set fps, in advanced settings). Incoming video, is hit and miss, so far. Waiting for v13 apk.....
The same is thing is happening also with cm 9 . No picture just sound on Netflix .Anybody have any ideas for a fix?
Netflix will not work on the ICS ROMs at the moment. They have memory and graphic issues.
ics isnt even well supported on the dx's. stick with android 2.3! the differences are minor and everything works.
Has anyone gotten the current Market BBC News app to play videos? I'm running CM 10.2.1 and have both Flash and MX Player installed but if I select a video that accompanies a news story I get some kind of player with a "loading" circle on the screen--forever.
For a lark I thought to try an old version of the app that I use on my NST (although there is no sound on the NST....) and that version (1.3.4) brings up the MX Player and everything works fine, although I do think the still image resolution is not as good as on the current Market app.
Any solutions (other than continue to use the old version)?
Just in case someone comes across this thread later, I can confirm that version 2.5.3 WW (BBC Mobile News WW) works great on the NT running CM 10.2, videos included
Newer versions after July - No Video on CM
On my Verizon S3, the BBC News app version 3.4.0.43 GNL does not show videos on CM12.1 (nightly 10/30/15) nor has it worked since version 2.5.5 WW. After that, they dramatically changed the app with new features and display capacities. Video has never worked since.
HOWEVER, it works on another ROM, AICP, which has some CM in it, though I don't know what else it's blended with. I wish I could distinguish the issue here because the newer ones are way more interesting than the older version , one of which I have saved via TiBu and restore when I get sick of not being able to watch videos.
It' just occured to me to take a logcat when I try next time.
EDIT: well, I didn't realize I was on a nook thread, but the issue might be the same.

Yeah, I actually prefer the older version. Just don't like a lot of options to wade through and not being able to get rid of stuff I don't want to see. I just recently got an LG Optimus Zone 2 to replace my much-loved Insignia Pilot MP3 player that finally died. I let the BBC app update from the market and it worked fine (running KitKat) but I didn't like it as I said, so I replaced it with the older version, which also works just fine.
