There's a quick how to on that post, but for a little more detail you might want to get the PDF I link in that post. Radimus' guide is a really good one.

[Q] root issues

Hello guys, well today I updated my phone from android 1.6 to 2.1 via the SEUS. I tried to root my device but failed in vain. I tried out the z4 root 1.30 but that didn't work either. I am a bit agreeably using the flash method. Is there any workable alternative to get my cell rooted?i would prefer a single click approach.
Thanks
In a nut shell, no. You need to flash back to 504 firmware and start from there, as said on AF.
Flash and debrand with THIS, install THIS, then THIS, and you'll have an up to date, debranded and rooted X10.

To be frank I really have no idea about flash. I have heard that it is very risky. If something goes wrong then the device ends up getting bricked.

So long as you read the first post and browse the first few pages you'll be alright. X10 is pretty much unbrickable right now so get reading and give it a go.
Well okay, I will give it a shot. Will tell you about the progress. Thanks for the help:-D. Btw are you also there in phandroid?

my x10 flasher is getting downloaded. Before i start the process, i wanted to ask you whether by flashing will my xperia get rooted? because for custom xperia recovery to work they mention that they NEED a ROOTED device. also they need an app called the busy box.
what should i do?
Is there any video tut regarding the procedure? I downloaded all the things necessary for the procedure.

One more thing, in the video he just showed how to upgrade from 1.6 to 2.1 I guess thats the official update which he installed. I have mine already upgraded to the OFFICIAL 2.1 so is it necessary to follow the first step of reflash?

[Q] no dataplan due to screw-up...

Hi all,
Some days ago I was playing with my atrix, and the result eventually was that I don't have internet connectivity via 4g anymore...
It must have been one of two:
* Start ubuntu.sh AS ROOT!!!
* Start apt-get AS ROOT!!!
The options I gave to apt-get I cannot remember, but I cannot imagine I would break much with that actually... It's clear they ****ed around with it so better to keep hands off...
Anyways, I want to reinstall the complete phone, but I don't want to get a custom rom. Trying to reset to factory defaults resets but then gives an error for booting recovery, which I modified for rom manager once...
So does anyone have an idea how I can get back to the default rom?
Thanks.
Regards,
Geert

¿Official ICS 4.04 for GT 10.1v?

I have read about an OTA for our 10.1v with ICS 4.04?
http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?p=5152857
Does anyone knows anything about this?
Enviado desde mi GT-P7100 usando Tapatalk 2
no idea but i would love to hear future confirmations on this!
I sent an email in Spanish to the guy to know if his camera is working...if so, we got a winner. Does someone know how to extract a rom ?
Also, did you notice the 3.xx kernel ?
yeah the 3.xx kernel is what caught my eye in the first place....although this could be just a huge fake and someone just wanting to have some attention.
It should be possible to make a tutorial for the guy to make a flashable .zip file so that we could at least get this rom via CWM if it is indeed what he claims it is.
If this really is an OTA update everything should be working including the camera.
What I am really finding weird though is that he was the only one reporting this OTA update, there are no websites reporting it and there seems to be a big lack of information. I feel like contacting Samsung and asking directly.

I spoke to this one several months ago. When we were all waiting for 3.2.1 update, he already got it, and he was the first one I know to report he got the update via OTA. Many people didn't believe him, because all of us got it a long time after, but, there it was, finally the upgrade came... so, what I hope is that the same will happen this time, let's be faithfull. I have already asked him about the camera, which happens to be the great topic!!

So Raindog, do you know how to start ? I'm willing to go step by step with you...I think we all are...as what you got in your hands is like the holy grail for us !
Few questions :
- Do you confirmed your bootloader is unlocked (when booting the tablet do you see an unlock icon on the "Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1v" logo ?)
- Do you have root access ?
- Is fastboot working ?
If someone is already working with you on this, tell me, I'll let you guys work it out. If not, and if you don't how to respond to the last two questions, we'll start working on that...
Thanks !

Camera working
Right now, it doesn't matter if it's final, o beta, or anything else. Raka/Raindog has already shown me on htcmania that the camera is working, so, ladies and gentleman..., the holy grail has been found!! And who could have ever thought that 7100 owners were going to have ICS working before even 7500 ones...
I can't wait to seeing ICS fully working on my old, forgotten and understimated tab...:fingers-crossed:

We see you are new here, it is pretty much expected that you spend some time reading the stickies and threads that apply to what it is you are trying to do before making these kind of threads. Add to that this topic has been discussed a lot so there is a tone of info on it. Lastly it is absolutely in your best interest to understand what it is your doing and all that information has been discussed ad nauseum.

I've done alot of reading the only thing I'm still unsure about is why theirs no kernels in the all in one kit anymore. In the video he made there's 2 or 3 choices but when I downloaded it the kernel files empty. I don't know if its something about the new update, but I havnt been able to find anything about it.

You are missing the point. You made 2 threads withing 2 hours and you PM'd me. Instead, you could've made one thread and placed everything there and wait for a response. Patience is a virtue.
I am a nice guy as you saw in the forums. I do not do technical support via PM. I do help around the forum, just not in my PM.
Since you are new to the forum, I'm just explaining how it works around here so you don't get flamed or anything. Some developers do not like to do tech support via PM, some don't mind. However, majority of them don't. Take that into consideration next time.

Yeah I get where your coming from, I'm sure you get tons of pms about the same stuff over and over. So sorry about that. I don't mean to fill up the forum with post that have already been covered too. Your tool, from what I've read, seems like the safest easiest way to root the amaze. It's my first time ever doing this sort of thing so I just want to be sure I don't mess anything up. Could you answer my question about no kernels being in your kit anymore? Do I just need to download one and put it in the file or what? And if so is there anything else That was taken out and needs to be downloaded that I might've missed?
Thanks.
I think I finally have all the steps down.
1) download winrar
2) download tool and extract data folder to my desktop or wherever
3) turn USB debugging on phone
4) download the rom I want and put it into the kernel section of the data folder.
5) plug in phone
6) follow steps 1-5
7) put unlock_code.bin in the data folder
8) flash recover (should I use the 4ext, TWRP 2.1.0, or find another one online?)
9) flash kernel/rom I picked
10) boot into recovery
11) boot into boot loader
12) relock boot loader (how do I get into fast boot to do this?)
Please let me know if I'm missing ANYTHING in those steps. If I'm not mistaken I should be finished after completing all these?

All the steps are correct, except for 10-12. You do not need to relock the bootloader. It will only cause more problems.
ALSO, flash the ROM first, then flash the kernel.
